Trying to avoid attention. Trey grabs my duffel bag and throws it over his shoulders. He rests his arm around my shoulder and whispers into my ear. “Do you want me to break you out?” “You’re joking but I might actually have to call in a favour!” I chuckle back to him. “Are you both new recruits?” A strong commanding voice bellows to us from behind. We both turn to find three incredibly tall Lycan men walking towards us. The one in the middle is bulky and I would say in his fifties. The one to my right is shorter than his two comrades and younger than the man in the middle. He is covered in tattoos and piercings. I stare at his nose ring, I little bit too long. The third Lycan almost takes my breath away. He is tall and muscular yet slim. He has dark brown hair and orange-brown eyes that look like they are on fire. I can just make out the outlines of a six pack under his tight army green T-shirt. “No sir, I am the driver!” Trey responds trying to keep his voice at an even tone. Tr
Starting to make friends. “Fuck off Spike!” Tucker shouts back just as loudly. Oh great, my aim of literally blending in isn’t going well. This Spike who looks just like his name, with spiky bleach blond hair and spikes through his ears stands up looking at Tucker. “Make me?” He smirks with a growl. “I’ll punch your fucking face in that your mouth won’t be able to say another word!” Tucker springs up and threateningly leans on the table. “Don’t worry, I’ll be so far deep in your new friend’s pussy that she’ll shut me up enough.” Did I just hear what I thought I heard? No one has ever made such a disgusting comment at me that my wolf takes true offence to it. She stands up, growling at this Spike. I’m lost for words, can she not see the size of him through my eyes. Then something odd happens. The doors slam open and Lycan three walks in with someone else. Lycan three must be a high ranking soldier as the atmosphere in the room takes a dark suffocating change. A growl leaves his
An uneven fight. Spike walks towards me with an evil grin on his face. The term ‘cat that got the cream’ came to mind, well he wasn’t having my cream. Prick! He probably stood back waiting for me to be his partner. “Come on she-wolf let’s see what you’ve got!” He gestures to a spare mat and I follow him. “This she-wolf has a name!” I say back to him. I didn’t want him to think he had a one up on me because I was a she-wolf and he was a lycan. Clearly he was going to win this, clearly I wouldn’t last long. But I still demand respect! “Positions!” Alpha commands to us all. I take my place at the opposite side of the sparring mat. My mind is going a thousand miles per a second. I try to calm myself down to think out a strategy. He is strong and arrogant, he will want an easy finish. So I’ll have to dance around him a little bit.A loud horn is sounded and each lycan growls as the sparring session begins. Spike the idiot, comes straight for me. As I thought, more brawn than brain. He w
A trip into Town. I was conscious to shower quickly, however, my shoulder still ached but the hot water provided some relief. I quickly put on a deep green T-shirt dress, black tights, Chelsea boots and a leather jacket. It was October and starting to get colder, but not cold enough with my she-wolf blood running through my veins. It kept me warm in winter and cool in the summer. I add some mascara, bronzer and lip gloss to my look. More to hide the pale look from the pain of my shoulder than to impress anyone. I step outside of Building B and find Axel is waiting for me in the courtyard. He smiles at me as I walk towards him. “You look beautiful Aida!” “Oh…thanks!” I tuck my long dark brown hair behind my ears and put my head down. I wasn’t used to compliments, only Caleb gave them to me. I wobble on my feet at the thought of Caleb and Axel steadies me with his arm. “You ok?” He asks with a frown. “Yes, thanks, just lost my footing. So where are we headed?” I guiltily push Caleb
A new room-mate.We head back to base and I’m silent the entire drive. I’m both angry and embarrassed. Angry that Saskia has gone out of her way to make things even more difficult for me here and embarrassed that I, yet again, let her get to me. As the car pulls up to the base entrance I hastily unfasten my seat belt and practically run out from the vehicle. “Thank you both for today. I’m going to head back to my quarters for a bit.” “Okay!” Tucker responded. He knew I needed time by myself right now. “Aida wait!” Axel shouts after me. I zone everyone and everything out. I’m currently going into survival mode, just until I make it back to Building B, when I can let out my anger and frustration. If I do it in front of the Lycans they’ll see me as a threat and take me down. I’ve heard she-Lycans are in better control of their emotions than she-wolves. Plus, if I see Spike and he makes another comment, I may just end of throttling him. As soon as I enter Building B, I close the door
Drinks and the morning after! I stopped counting after five drinks! I think I must be on drink number ten, not including the shots. At what point were they going to feed us? I hadn’t eaten since breakfast and my shoulder injury incident. Although, the alcohol was helping with the pain relief in itself. I’d probably regret the arm wrestle Tucker challenged me to after drink number six. Of course he won! It wasn’t even a competition. But I stupidly used my left arm, just in case he broke my right. I didn’t want two busted arms, or, at least that was the thought process behind it from a drunk Aida. “What’s the time?” I say to Hong who didn’t even look drunk.“9pm!”“Shit, I’ve got to go!” I try to stand up from my log-seat and almost tumble forward. Hong catches me by my waist and steadies me. “You okay?” “Yep! But my bum is numb!” I say with a whine and start rubbing my bum cheek. Whoever made those seats didn’t plan for them to be sat on for five hours straight. “Do you want me to
A fight!Lycan wolves are huge! The difference between a car and a bus! But my wolf is feisty and quick on her feet. His aggressive lycan wolf growls at me on all fours legs. His features are larger than that of a normal werewolf but otherwise he isn’t so scary. His brown fur is matted and I can see a few scars around his rib cage. He hasn’t looked after himself which makes me think he could be a rogue. This lycan has been caught nosing around before and been punished. If my wolf can be smart and angle herself properly she should be able to attack his week ribs. His jaw starts to snap in an impatient move. Well I’m literally waiting for the calvary, so I have plenty of time to waste. He’s the one that needs to make the first move, which will open him up to a weak spot. Impatient, he forms a predatory stance towards me and lunges forward. My wolf dives out of his way but manages to claw one side of his ribs. I’ve bruised his ego now! My wolf ensures that she just as quickly is front
Making each other look good. I rest all morning but by midday I was hungry and bored. Not a good combination. With Blake’s support I managed to hop into the canteen at lunchtime. Yet again, all eyes on me as I enter the room but this time they all cheer and clap at me. My face burns red from the attention and I quickly join the lunch queue to pick out my meal. The kitchen staff kindly placed my lunch into a bag rather than even let me attempt to carry a tray. My favourite empty table was available and as I headed over to it, I suddenly stopped and turned. He was watching my every move. As my eyes met Spike’s, I hobbled over to his table. Having spent the morning thinking about what I want to do when I saw him, I was expecting it to be difficult and require strength. But now that I was here, it felt natural. “Thank you!” I said to him. “What for?” He looks up at me with narrow eyes, still holding the attitude. I’ll offer the olive branch and he can take time to consider it. “You
Finally the truth! “What is going on?” Ricardo seeks out information due to my current lack of speech. “Your majesty, Alpha Ike is in the final stages.” The pack doctor responds respectfully to Ricardo. “What?” I gasp out loud. I knew he was ill, Alpha Hansen had warned me Father had months but I thought even that was exaggerated. I didn’t expect weeks! “Aida?” He removes his oxygen mask and places his hand out for me to hold. What is this? The confessions of a dying man. Admitting sins to the moon goddess. I should be sad, any normal daughter would be sobbing at the scene in front of her. But I wasn’t a normal daughter, I was shunned for so long I wasn’t sure my heart would ever return here. “Let’s give them some privacy.” Ricardo orders. “Aida…I’ll be downstairs if you need me!” He whispers into my ear. I don’t miss the scowl Saskia gives me for being in favour with the Lycan King. Oh if only you knew sweetheart. My growl back to her is enough for Henri to growl threateningly a
The biggest of sins. We were due to leave in a few hours time. I now had no hold-all so I was in the Alpha’s office waiting for Luna Rennie to find me a replacement bag. I had knocked on the door to ask having not seen Alpha Ray or Luna Rennie since Lance’s and Axel’s departure. Alpha Ray was visiting the hospital and Luna was due to join him after finding me a bag. Rory walks into the office with a hold-all in hand, passing it over to me. “Here, Mum said you needed a bag, use this one.” “Thank you, I’ll get it sent back.”“Don’t worry about it.” He waves his hands in the air. “Alpha Rory, I’m really sorry that I brought all this trouble on your doorstep.” My guilt had only been growing since Lynx told me Nadine had flagged that I was looking to put their baby up for adoption. The Mulder pack being the only one to do it in the country. “Aida, we consider you part of the family now, we’d always protect you.” He earnestly says as he sits at his Father’s desk. “Even so….is there any
A mission. By the time we returned to the cars, Fern, the witch, had disappeared and Lance and Ricardo were now free. We decide to hold back all information until we are back safely at the Mulder pack, where we demand an emergency meeting with all Lycans, Tate and the Mulder Alpha family. The journey back was awkward, Lance growling constantly in the back seat with me firmly placed on his lap. Poor Rafe who was in the back with us again, looked terrified the Lycan Prince was going to lash out at any moment. Between myself, Mav and Axel we informed the trusted parties what we had learnt and what we had been told. Blake couldn’t get her head around Lynx and Spike switching places, taking turns at training and even with Nadine. Lance’s grip on my hips as I sat on his lap was incredibly intense. I knew the two hours deadline by Lynx didn’t give us a lot of time, the discussions were rushed and had a sense of panic to them. “Can we spare anyone that can follow him?” Ricardo puts to the
A revelation in the woods. My wolf had a very strong feeling to go to the tree line when I noticed activity on night watch the night before the attack. I couldn’t explain it, it was just a gut feeling I had. But I knew I couldn’t go alone, I would never do that to Lance or Axel. Florence and Jade wouldn’t have me making my own food, so they were currently putting a massive luncheon on the dining table. Typical shifters…the smell of food and they come running. Within minutes, Axel and I were joined by the lycans, Tate, and the Mulder family. Lance lovingly kissed my neck but then went on to pick out sausages, burgers and bacon. He went for the French fries but a growl from my chest made it very clear I had first dibs. He chuckled at my behaviour before standing me up, sitting on my chair and then pulling me into his lap. Chairs had clearly been borrowed from pack member’s homes to fit all the guests around the table. I waited until they at least had some food in their bellies before I
Not a good patient. I couldn’t breathe! I was kicking and clawing at the male on top of me holding my throat in his hands. Moments from death I look up over my head at the male that had just entered the room. No it can’t be? He is dead. I was there when he died. He’s looking at me with regret, he didn’t want this, he didn’t want me like this. What did he want, to talk? We were beyond talking. If he really was alive, I’d kill him with my own hands. “Aida…Aida wake up.” Lance’s gentle voice calls to me in my sleep. It’s like being called to the safety of a lighthouse in the darkest and stormiest of seas. I must have fallen asleep in his arms. His regular steady breathing creating a calming repetitive rhythm that was similar to being rocked to sleep. “Lance?” I had forgotten about my throat before I called out his name. It still stung but I could now at least talk. It was hoarse sounding, but it could be understood. “Aida?” He greets my voice with a kiss to my neck, which leads me to
Bruised and Silent. With my breathing restricted, I pull my eyes back on the wolf on top of me, as my mind starts to sink into darkness. Before my remaining eye closes I hear monstrous growls, Lycan growls. At first I panic, thinking that they did have lycan rebels on stand by. But then his scent hits me, toffee and plum, the richness of his scent just as strong as ever. It’s the best way for me to go. Knowing he was close by. I turn my head slightly to see Axel, Tucker, Mav and even Ricardo have entered the school assembly hall. Ricardo is surrounded by seven males I didn’t know but judging by their similar looks, these were Blake’s older brothers. They didn’t hold any terror in their eyes, just a thirst for blood. An almost competitive look to who can kill the most rebel rogues. The Lycans are like a tidal wave, wiping out everything in their path, without hesitation. I thought for a moment that Lance was coming to me, his scent was closer but then it becomes slightly distant agai
Special chapter. Lance’s point of view Fighting for his love. My anger was fading. I had spent almost a week in Lycan wolf form and getting back to nature was just what I needed. Aida marking me took me by surprise, I expected myself to mark her before she was eighteen, not the other way round. The moment she arrived for training and got out of that car with Trey, my world stopped. I didn’t know how to react at first, my honest disbelief that the Moon Goddess would pair me with a she-wolf. But then I watched her, she was anything but a she-wolf. If anything her she-wolf status held her back. She was made for me, made to be the princess by my side and that was before I knew she was a pack princess. Time and time again, I had to listen to stories from others about how she had been neglected and I couldn’t…didn’t want to believe the abusive stories I had been told at the hands of her Father, Brother and Luna, until I witnessed things for myself on the King’s pack visit. The witches a
Fighting alone. I gently place Olivia back on the floor and stand up to talk quietly to the teachers. Realistically I was the closest thing to a warrior. I was the only one trained enough to defend all these children. “Have you heard from either of the Alphas?” I whisper to the male teacher. “No, I can’t get through.” Damn what I would give for a mind-link right now. “Why would intruders be breaking into the school?” I whisper. “We don’t know.” Mrs Townsend responds in a state of nerves. Yep, I literally was the only one trained to fight. Whatever comes through those assembly hall doors would have to kill me to get to these children. “Okay…is there anywhere safe to hide the children? I ask the collection of teachers. “The bunker…but it’s near the pack house.” The male teacher responds. “If I cause a distraction and you see a chance, take the children there.” I command at the teachers. “They aren’t meant to get through the school, if they can get through the school…they can g
Night time patrol. If this was punishment, then sign me up anytime. I mean I was pushed hard at training. I was taking part in night time patrol, which Tate spent every night scowling at me, he was my punishment buddy. I was spending all day at the school with the children and also helping the Alpha Ray and Alpha Rory out with pack administration. I was waiting for Alpha Ray to come find me to lock me in their basement, to refuse me food…but this pack was everything a wolf pack should be. I spent every meal time giggling with Rafe, while Rory rolled eyes at our immature behaviour. I was sincerely considering asking Alpha Ray if I could join the Mulder pack after graduation. To adopt them as my new family. “So Aida, what is the plan for after training?” Luna Rennie asked last night at dinner. “I’m not really sure. I know I do not want to return back to the Sagar pack. Actually I was considering maybe joining this pack…if you’d have me?”“You don’t want to return home?” Luna Rennie
