Lilah.

For two days we had to stay in this hall. Fights broke out every other hour, but the Lycans put a stop to them as quickly as they started. The wolves feared the Lycans. They recoiled away the moment they realised they were in trouble. Because it always ended the same way.

The numbers of the pack dropped. A wolf was killed here and there for all sorts of reasons. For being overheard disrespecting Alpha Colt. For attempting to leave the hall. For trying to catch my attention when they thought that there was no Lycan lingering nearby.

The bodies would be carried out of the hall. The wolves were forced to stay back so they couldn’t see what was happening outside. I saw it all and I said nothing. I finally understood how other packs had been wiped out. Alpha Colt had done this to them. Alpha Colt had caused them to wipe themselves out.

The only ones that were allowed to come and go were the Lycans. They would bring food, and other essentials to try and keep the peace, but the peace

Alpha ColtThis wasn’t the same girl. She stared directly at me with those grey eyes as she declared me a psychopath once again. Not a hint of sarcasm in her words. No sign of fear, there was nothing. She felt nothing for what had happened.“Lilah…”“Don’t fucking Lilah me!” She snaps her arms folding up over her chest “This was a power move. This wasn’t about getting justice for Halle!”“It was supposed to be about Halle. But everything takes us to a dead end. Grant and Drake are out hunting the Rogues Juniper spoke of, but other than that, there is nothing else that I can do for Halle. She is dead and there is no coming back from that.”“So you just left everyone to fall apart?”“If they truly cared for their pack, they wouldn’t have killed each other. Drake hates Snare, he still hasn’t attacked her!” I try to reason but Lilah was having none of it.“This isn’t their fault, it's ours. Yours and mine, Alpha Colt!” She had returned to calling me Alpha. I thought she had moved past it.

LilahIt was my mother. I recognised her hair and those eyes. She ran deeper and deeper into the forest. My feet pound the ground hard as I try to keep up. I move quickly and silently as I try to keep up. Jumping fallen branches. Dodging trees. It was like my wolf knew exactly what to do.Alpha Colt and Callie were not far behind. The scents told me that the other Lycans had joined in too, but I did not care for them. I just wanted to speak to my mother. I wanted to know how she was alive. I wanted her to tell me how she escaped. I just wanted to wrap my arms around her once more. She changes directions several times. Always staying a few metres in front. She would look over her shoulder now and again, calling for me to catch her.She comes to a stop. Tall trees surround her. She stands facing me, her arms wide open.“Come here, my dearest daughter.” The voice didn’t match my mother’s. It was higher pitched. Her choice of words didn’t feel right either. By the time I realised that I h

Alpha ColtI can’t see her anywhere.Out of all the Lycan’s, Snare was the only one that wasn’t accounted for. Even Grant and Drake had returned.“I warned you.” Linc mutters next to me, his nose still pressed into the leaves. "I warned you that she was trouble.""And I kept her away from Lilah." Linc was lucky he got away with speaking to me the way he did."Still, look what has happened."“Snare's scent isn’t here.” I retort, but deep down, I knew he was right. This had Snare written all over it. There was a reason why Snare was her name and this was exactly it.Drake comes from the group of Lycans. His head is low as he walks towards us. “It’s her.” He mutters, keeping his green eyes low.“Are you telling me that you can smell something we can’t?”His head moves up and down. “There is a reason that Snare and I have never gotten along.”“Well, spit it out.” Linc snaps as he stands tall.“We… That is Snare and I, well we were mated. Technically still are, because we can’t reject one

LilahThe door would open now and again. A flicker of light creeping around the edge of the door. By the time my eyes had adjusted. I was in darkness again.I tried reaching out to Alpha Colt over and over. But nothing ever came of it. It was like I was no longer connected to him. I should be happy. It was all I had ever wanted. But now, he was the only one who would be able to get me out of here. He was the only other person that knew me.I don’t scream, I stop myself from crying any time I feel my eyes welling up. Snare couldn’t know that I was afraid of her. She couldn’t know that what she was doing was making me suffer. My stomach growled with hunger. I had been hungry before, but not like this. I assumed it had been days since she took me. Days since I had last seen Alpha Colt.As I think of him, a smile creeps over my face. There was so much anger on my part. Mostly because I had been lied to my entire life. And getting over that wasn’t going to be easy. The door is suddenly yan

Alpha Colt. She clings to me as she drops off to sleep. Her eyes flutter for a moment. A scowl appears on her face, just like the other times she had been injured. I didn’t mind, in fact, I was enjoying the sudden neediness that she required.Witches though? I knew they had been mentioned, but I hadn’t realised they had actually played a part in this. Witches were not known for working with other supes. So what was this favour? It wasn’t like witches came to us for help. Why had they gone to a shifter?I watch as my mate's face relaxes. Her fingers slowly released their grip, but not completely. I dared not to move. Not after the last few days.We had staked out Freefall Cove. After discovering those bodies, we didn’t leave. We hid in the forest instead, waiting for a sign. I just knew she was there. I couldn’t sense her at first, but my gut told me everything I needed to know. Snare had kept her there. The relief when I suddenly felt the connection again. It was just like the first t

Alpha ColtIt was hours before Lilah started making any sense. She would mutter words at barely a whisper. Eventually, her words became sentences. And even though she was asleep. I could finally work out what had happened to her.Her face screwed up more times than I could keep track of. Even my company wasn’t comforting her anymore. It seemed that she was trapped in a cycle of nightmares. Replaying one after the other. The Lycans come and go, but Drake was the one who surprised me. He appeared alongside his brother Grant. Drake’s head was hanging, just like every other time I had seen him.“This is my fault, Alpha Colt. Take my life!” His eyes were still on the floor. He couldn’t even bring himself to look at me.“You agree with this?” I asked Grant. It wasn’t common for someone to request that I end their life. Well, not like this anyway. Most mutter it in their final words. Like I would somehow stop what I was doing. That their demand would make me save them. It never worked. “We

LilahI was weak. There wasn’t anything else to describe it. I could barely lift my head off the pillow and only just manage to open my eyes a little. My favourite story was being read to me by another female. Her voice is soft as she carefully reads each word aloud. It takes me a few minutes to realise that it’s Callie. She briefly looks up at me and smiles. She doesn’t speak to me and goes straight back to reading me the story.“Colt…” I croakily mumble. I didn’t sound anything like myself.“He will be up in a minute.” She tells me, “I’ve already linked him to let him know.”“Where. Is. He?” I was so raspy.“He will be here in just a moment. Just rest.”He said he wasn’t going to leave. He promised that he would stay with me. “Where?”She drops the book on to the chair as she stands. “Lilah, you are safe.”“Get the fuck away from me!” I cough up the words. My body wouldn’t even allow me to sit up. I just laid there, my body failing me.“Lilah, Alpha Colt is coming, he asked me to wa

Alpha ColtHer hand slips into mine. Carefully she steps into the hot water. She lets out a hiss as her foot touches it.“Too hot.” She mutters through clenched teeth.“It will be good for the aches and pains.” Normally, I would recommend an ice bath. But these were not aches and pains from over training. She lowers her body into the water, continuing to hiss as the water covers her. She sits between my thighs. Her hands using my knees as a support as she makes herself comfortable.I try to keep my hands to myself. Every part of me was desperate to touch her. Every part of me ached to be inside her and have her legs wrapped around me. But I had to play this carefully, she was finally turning a corner. She wasn't fighting me anymore. To my surprise, she leans herself back against me. Her head rests on my shoulder, her back pressed against my chest.I could see how the water made her breasts bob a little. Her nipples were rock hard. “Lilah?” I mutter, trying to clear the dirty thoughts

Lilah The next morning, I find Colt packing up the office. “Going somewhere?” I look around at all the half packed boxes in amusement. “We are.” “We are? Did you try talking to me when I was asleep?" He laughs at me, “No, you said you wanted to live in the apartment.” “You’re joking right? None of this shit is going to fit in there.” He had more than enough boxes to fill the bedrooms. Plus it would have remnants of her and I couldn't be somewhere like that. “I thought that’s what you wanted?!” He stops packing and places his hands on my small bump “Once, but there was barely enough room for me and ….” I hadn’t mentioned her name since I had set her on fire. Any time there was a fleeting thought, I would push it away and focus on something else. “You can say her name. She can’t hurt you anymore.” “No. Even thinking of her is giving her time. Anyway, what about when this one comes along? A town centre is hardly a place for a newborn wolf or Lycan.” He presses his lips to my ch

LilahPulling the blade from my chest. My lungs quickly expand, desperate to suck in some oxygen after what had just happened. The wound above my heart, knits itself together, removing almost all trace of nearly being stabbed to death. All that was left was my blood soaked top. For just a single moment, I was afraid to move. Afraid to look at the damage she had done.Linc appears in front of me. His dark eyes searching mine, her blood coated the skin around his mouth and his chin. He stretches a hand out towards me and pulls me to my feet. “You survived.” He mutters, running his eyes over me, “Not very many of the others did.”As I look around, I see that Callie had stopped jerking about, but her eyes were closed and her body was now motionless. Aiden was hunched over, weeping over Ivy’s body, surrounded by dead Lycans. “COLT!”“Here,” His voice is faint in my head. He was still flat on his back, from where Daphne had knocked him down. “You have to burn her.”My eyes flicker across

Lilah“Snare?” My voice breaks when I say his name. I thought he was long behind us. “What does he have to do with this?” “You should have listened to him. He was watching you. Just as grandmother requested.”“Your grandmother?” Everything was quickly unravelling. Everything that Daphne had ever done or said was all lies. Out of everyone, she had played me the most, lied to me the most. She had used my emotions to get what she wanted and I had fallen for it, again and again and again.“It really was you. You are the one that made the hospital cave in on us. You almost killed yourself!”She chuckles. “I knew I wouldn’t die well not completely. But the pissy Hybrid had to get involved, didn’t she. Sharing things that shouldn’t be shared. You and I, we could have been great together. A descendant of The Greats and me, a strong and powerful witch. But you ruined that. No matter what I did, you and your special Colt could not be torn apart.”“What about the photo?” Colt croaks from the gr

Alpha ColtHer breath quickened as she kept her hand steady on my chest. Annoyance maybe, or maybe she finally accepted that someone was lying to her. And that someone was Daphne. She shakes her head at me and moves away. “You’re wrong, Colt.” “Why are you refusing to see what is right in front of you? Even after all the shit you have been through, you still want to believe her.”“She won’t lie to me.”“How many times have you heard that? How many times are you going to keep forgiving her?”“She doesn’t need forgiveness this time because it isn’t her!”“Then who? Who do you think it is? And don’t you dare say me, again!”“That Ivy girl.”I wasn’t about to tell her that Aiden isn’t certain about her, because that would just give Lilah more reason to blame her instead of the real culprit. “Ivy was with you.”“Maybe she planned something, maybe she set something up.”“You don’t believe that. You are just trying to convince yourself.”“Fuck off, Colt.” She sits down on the chair, crossin

Lilah Making my way down the steps, I’m hit with a cold breeze that almost takes my breath away. Looking back, I see Colt and Linc deep in discussion, but at the same time, I could hear Daphne down below, her quiet sobs filling the silence. “Daphne?” She stops crying and her hands appear through the bars of her cell, “Lilah? Is that really you?” Stepping in front of her cell, she pulls me in for an awkward hug, holding on tightly. “Lilah, you have to make them understand.” “I’m trying.” I mutter. “But Colt still thinks you still want revenge, that’s why he is blaming you. He is refusing to listen to me.” “You’re not wrong. I did want revenge, but only because I was angry. When I saw Linc's dead body, anger was all I felt but then… I saw him, standing in front of me, like he had never died, only his eyes were black and all the anger, it disappeared.” “Do you know what happened with the hospital?” I ask quietly She shakes her head. “Linc told me, but it doesn’t make any sense. Dad, she was with me and mum when it happened.”“Well someone is hiding something.” he snaps.“I agree,” Linc nods his head at me“It’s not me, at least, I don’t think it is.” Daphne mutters from her corner. “It just doesn’t make sense.”I tell her what Ivy told me, and what she had said to my mother. Daphne violently shakes her head. “I have already said, it wouldn’t work that way.” She glances up to my father, “I don’t know what you saw, Colt, And I don’t know what you mean by the light being under my skin. But I am not responsible for everything. You have to stop blaming me.” She leans her head back against the stone wall. I could see the light flickering along her neck.“You’re doing it now.” I stare at her“What?”“The light that dad spoke of.”She looks down at her hands and rolls the sleeves up. Her mouth falls open as she stares at them. “What’s happening to me?”“You’ve not seen this before? What

Alpha Colt.“Clear the room.”Callie, Aiden and Ivy all make their way out carefully stepping over the shards of china, when Lilah starts to follow, I grab her arm. “Not you. We need to talk.”She scowls at me and tugs her arm away, letting out a groan. I wait for the door to be closed and to listen to their footsteps as they walk away.“Don’t bother, Colt.” Lilah growls at me.“With what?”“You are going to try talking me around. Convince me that Daphne is the bad person. But it’s not her Colt, it’s you.”“What are you talking about?”“This is what it’s all been about, isn’t it?”“Lilah, you are not making any sense.” I literally had no idea what she was going on about.“You never wanted me to have a sister. You wanted me for yourself, with no one around to get involved. But one by one, everyone that has been a part of my life has died. Dad, my mother. Halle, Drake, Grant, my children. Alpha Colt“No,no,no,no,no.” Linc mutters from next to me as his hand starts disappearing. His dark eyes flick up to where my mate is and back to his hand.“She’s dead!” It was the only thing that made sense. It was why Aiden was hugging his mother, it was why I could hear my mate crying. And it was why Linc was losing his hand all over again.Ivy says nothing. She watches my son and Lilah with wide blue eyes. A slight frown forming, but the frown quickly disappears when she sees me looking at her.“I will go and help.” She declares and starts climbing over the rubble towards my mate and son.“Well, I guess we didn’t need to kill her after all.” I mutter to Linc“If she’s dead, so is her magic.” He shows me that he can move around freely. “It's gone.” He beams at me but those dark eyes show an emptiness that seemed to go on forever. What the hell happened in there?”“I don’t know.”“How can you not know? You were in there when the first explosion went off.”“Daphne was still unconscious. I was holding her hand when the roof started caving in. Colt, he pulled me away. He blocked me from the falling ceiling. He….” I knew he was blaming Daphne, but there had to be more to it. There just had to be.“Aiden, you need to let me go out there!”“No mum. Dad made it clear, you are to stay here with me and Ivy.”“Daphne is my sister!”“And she is the one who did this!” He glares at me with his grey eyes“I’m not so sure.” Ivy mutters from the window.“What?” Both Aiden and I speak in unison.Ivy hadn’t spoken a word since we had been in the house, well not to me anyway. She had spent the entire time watching what was happening from the window
