Lilah’s POV
His knock comes at the bedroom door. He musky oak scent wafting in through the small gap under the door.
“Fuck off!” I shout, making it clear that I didn’t want him anywhere near me. He steps into the room, his eyes on me as he shakes his head.
It had been three days since he had brought me back here. He had kept me locked in this room all day every day. If he wasn’t in here with me, I was cuffed to the bed. There was no way that I was escaping this time.
We hadn’t talked about what he did. We had hardly spoken about anything. The only thing he had done was explain what a Rogue was. Mum had never mentioned them. You would think she would have told me about Lycan’s and wolves that are banished. Especially when she wanted me to look after myself.
The lack of knowledge made me feel stupid. Alpha Colt tried to tell me that it wasn’t my fault, but it didn’t change how stupid I had been. Or how close to death I was. I should be grateful that Alpha Colt saved me. Instead, I couldn’t get the image out of my head. He had torn the Rogues head off like it was nothing.
“Just fucking leave me alone.” I pull the bed sheet up over my head, making my point. I didn’t want to see him.
“Lilah Winters. You really need to watch your language. Pretty girls shouldn’t swear.”
“Then you should wash your mouth out too.” I retort. It was a stupid comeback, but I couldn’t change that.
“Are you trying to call me a girl?”
“If the shoe fits!” I snap, refusing to look at him. He shakes his head, rolling his eyes.
“Are you hungry?”
What was he up too? He hadn’t offered me food at any point until now, well nothing proper. He just brought a few snacks to the room now and again. The most fluids I got was tap water from the bathroom.
I couldn’t ignore the growling in my stomach, it had been almost a week since I had last eaten. Reluctantly, I nod my head and a smile appears on his face. He was pleased that I was giving in.
“Come!” He holds out a hand for me.
Refusing to take it, I stand and wait for him to lead the way. I was very aware that his eyes were roaming over me and I try to pull the t-shirt down a bit further.
“You look good in my clothes.” He smirks at me, annoying me more.
“It’s not like I have anything else to wear is it?!” I snap, pulling the hem of the t-shirt down further over my thighs. It was another one of his giant tshirts that I had no choice but to wear.
“We can do something about that. All you had to do was ask. But are you always this short tempered? If so, we are going to have to do something about that.” He asks as we make our way out of the room and across the landing.
The Hallway ran all the way around the building. Over the railings I could see the large foyer. Big and open. Windows reach from floor to ceiling with a wide marble staircase leading to this floor. It was the nicest pack house that I had ever been in. Everywhere else was always dark and dreary.
“I’m sure anybody would be angry after what you have done.” I mumble, folding my arms across my chest.
“I didn’t kill your mother.” He shakes his head
“Maybe, maybe not, but you just happened to be there!”
“Lilah…”
You did kill my dad though. I watched you tear him apart. All because he was protecting me! You can’t deny it! You killed him just like you killed that Rogue!”
He stops on the stairs to look at me. His brow deepened. His cobalt blue eyes dropping a shade darker.
“The Rogue was going to kill you.”
“So you are not denying killing my dad then?”
“Who told you that I killed your father?”
I was thrown off by the question. I see the same thing every night. Even here, when Alpha Colt lies next to me. I still had the same nightmares. But what if I hadn’t seen it? What if that was the part of the nightmare that wasn’t right?
“No one told me. I saw it with my own eyes. I have nightmares about it. The image of you just…” I trail off feeling sickened. How could the Moon Goddess pair me with such a cruel man?
“Yes I killed your father, but it wasn’t entirely because of you.”
“You demanded him to hand me over, like I was a piece of meat. A prized possession” I remembered the words that mum had used.
“To protect you Lilah.”
“Don’t bullshit me. I remember everything you said like it was yesterday. Every fucking night, I have nightmares. The same scene playing over and over since I was ten years old.”
“I’m sorry you have nightmares, Lilah. I cannot change that.”
“Of course you fucking can’t. You are the one that caused them. It’s not like they are ever going to go away!”
He shakes his head at me. “Lilah, you need to stop thinking of your dad as some kind of trophy dad. He was far from it.”
“You’re lying.” I could feel the tears coming again and quickly wipe my eyes.
“I have no reason to lie to you. If I was planning on living an unfaithful life, yes. But that’s not what I want.”
“What do you want?” I ask quietly, frustrated with the way the conversation was going. I still wasn’t getting any answers.
“I want you by my side. Lilah, you were chosen for me. I can’t change that and you cannot change that. But this seems to be difficult for you. So go ahead, try and reject me.”
Lilah’s POVMy mouth drops open. I knew I couldn’t. The Moon goddess had been so fed up of mates rejecting each other over the years. Over two decades ago wolves and Lycans began to discover they couldn’t reject each other. She had made it impossible for us to say those words. There was always a reason she chose the couple.“I…. I….” I try to say the words, but they don’t even form. “Can’t, can you?” He cocks an eyebrow at me.“Li….Lil….Lilah” I keep trying. Hoping that the words would start coming. I was stunned into silence. When I couldn’t even get out my whole name.“Trust me, Lilah. I tried. For the first year of you being on the run. I tried over and over to reject you, because you were a child. But I couldn’t. For some reason, the Moon Goddess wants us to be together. I know you hate it. I feel it with every fibre of your being. You make it more than clear that you don’t want to be around me. But I promise, I will never hurt you.” He smiles and shoots a wink at me “Not unless
Alpha Colts POV“A psychopath?” No one had been brave enough to call me that too my face.“Yes! That’s exactly what you are. A Fucking Psychopath!” She practically spits out the words.“Why would you even think that?” It’s not what I want my mate to think of me. I don’t want her to hate me. I don’t want her to fear me. But here, right now. She finally tells me what she thinks.“Mum told me everything I need to know.”“Your mother didn’t know me!” I fire back, trying to keep my cool. “She knew enough.”“And what was that, Lilah? What shit did your mother tell you?"“That you are a killer! You destroy everything. You hurt everyone around you.”“I saved you from that Rogue, Lilah. He would have eaten you and he wouldn’t have killed you first. He would have snapped a limb off. Just a little at a time. A finger. A thumb, maybe your hand. Would you rather I let that happen to you?!”She doesn’t answer me. Her grey eyes finally looked away from me. It was harsh, but it was the truth. I was
Colt “Traitors?” She mumbles. It was a harsh word in the wolf world. It was just as bad to the Lycans. It meant they had committed the greatest crime. A crime that meant only death was the answer. There was no coming back from it. There was no way you could ever ask for forgiveness. Everyone would want you dead. “Yes Lilah. They both were. You are the daughter of traitors. Do you understand now why I had to protect you?” “No, I don’t believe you. You have to be wrong.” Standing up, I hover over her. Deciding how to play my next move. I was done with skirting the issue. Sitting next to her on the carpeted floor. She doesn’t recoil, she doesn’t flinch even when my arm brushes against hers. “Lilah, how do you think I became the King?” I had never known a wolf to have so much denial. I had to find a way to make her understand how serious her situation was. How serious it still is! “Your dad would have died.” She mumbles, keeping her eyes in front of her. I let my hand fall on to h
Lilah“AAAHHHH!”“Hey. Hey, it’s just me.”It takes a moment for me to catch my breath. My heart races as a naked Alpha Colt holds his hands up in defence.“What the actual fuck?!”“Lilah, just chill.”“You want me to chill? Really? I think I have a right to be fucking mad at you, you wanker.”“Watch your mouth, Lilah. I have already warned you more than once.”“You better not have fucking touched me!” I was so mad. Climbing out of the bed, I snatch the blanket with me. Holding it around me even though I was wearing his giant tshirt. I felt violated.“Lilah, this is my room. My bed. I think I have been more than generous by sleeping on the floor. Besides, you loved me being in bed.”“I fucking hate you!” I storm towards the ensuite, fully prepared for him to follow me. As expected, he is right behind me.“Lilah, you were the one who curled into me. Not the other way around.”“I wouldn’t do that. Not after you called my family traitors.” I was finding it so hard to keep my eyes focuss
Alpha ColtShe doesn’t run. She’s hunched over on all fours, sobbing. Her anger, her hurt, her grief, her sorrow. I felt it all.“Lil…”“Don’t fucking touch me.” She throws herself away from me. Her grey eyes narrowed in pure hatred. “This is all because of you!” “Fucking hell Lilah. You’re trying to blame me for something your parents started. If they had never plotted against my father, we wouldn’t be here. You would have grown up and found out I was your mate anyway.”“You are un-fucking-believable.” She stands up, wiping the tears from her face.“Why Lilah? Why am I?”She doesn’t speak. But I could feel her inner battle. A mixture of hatred and desire. “You want answers, Lilah. I can give them to you. But you won’t believe me.”“It’s your word. They don’t even get a chance to tell me.” She mutters.Leaning against the car, I watch how she looks out over the hills. Trying not to look at me. Her hands shoved into her pockets.“I knew your father quite well. He seemed genuine, alwa
Lilah“Wolfsbane?” I mutter and he nods his head at me.Mum had told me that if I was ever in trouble, to try and get my hands on wolfsbane. When I had questioned her she said that it would be the one thing that would stop him. She had warned me, telling me that I should never let it touch my skin. Could she have really done it? Could she really have been responsible?“Do you believe me now Lilah?” His voice is low. All this time, she had lied to me. My own mum.“That caused the scar?” I ask quietly, weighing up my lack of options.“Fire and wolfsbane are a deadly mix. What your parents didn’t account for was me. They didn’t know I was going to be there. They didn’t know that their very action would allow me to find you.”I take a few deep breaths. His hand wraps around my ankle, pulling my leg up onto his lap. The sparks of his touch had butterflies swarming in my stomach. Why couldn’t I block these feelings? Why was my body trying to force me into accepting him?I see a smile spread
Alpha ColtShe paces back and forth. Chewing on a nail.“Lilah, he doesn’t know anything.”“He was questioning me. He wanted to know who I was.”“That’s pretty standard. An Alpha should know who is staying on his land. I’m surprised that it’s taken him so long. He should have done that the moment he knew you were here.”“Are you even listening to me? He knows who I am, Alpha Colt. He knows.”“Lilah, you need to chill. He knows nothing.”“You said it yourself. You said they would kill me if they found out.”“There is one way of stopping that from happening.” I muse. It was going to happen anyway. She might as well just let me mark her.“No fucking way.”“Fine, but you can’t expect me to help and then not let me help. That’s not how this works.” She comes to a halt. Her eyes narrow at me, but at least she stops chewing on her fingers.“I will figure it out on my own.” She groans.“How do you expect to do that?” I was curious. Her only form of true protection was my mark.“Well obviously
LilahHe drops onto the couch opposite. His cobalt blue eyes firmly fixed on me. His lips curved up like he was amused with himself. He makes himself comfortable, resting his clasped hands over his dick. I was going to cut that off oneday!Wiping away the tears, I spin my legs around, sitting myself up to glare at him. “You will regret doing that.” I mutter, running my fingers over my new mark. His smirk turns into a grin. “I never regret anything, Lilah."“You have no right!”“I have every right, you are mine. You’re lucky to have made it this long. If you belonged to anyone else, there would be a good chance that they would have marked you and fucked you against your will. Just be grateful that I have only done one of those things.”“I fucking hate you!”“I know, but you won’t for much longer.”“Are you serious? You think this is what's going to make me fall for you?” I point to the bump on my neck. I hadn’t even seen it yet, but it felt hideous.Alpha Colt gets to his feet. He stri
