Alpha Colt

I stood on the steps of the packhouse, waiting for Linc to arrive. He had been torn when we were chatting over mindlink. Conflicted with his feelings. He wanted to know what I would do if I were in his position. I told him to trust his instincts. There was a very good chance that he was returning alone.

Lilah wanted to wait as well. Just like me, she expected Linc to come back alone. But I told her to stay inside and try to keep our son occupied.

I got the call from the gate that Linc was back. The SUV slowly made its way up the drive to the front of the house. I could see Daphne, her head was low, her hair hiding her face. From here, I couldn't tell what had happened.

I watched as Linc jumped out of the car. He nods towards me and walks around the car, opening the passenger door. He takes her hand and a flicker of a smile appears. I knew in that moment Linc had accepted her.

Betrayed, that’s how I felt. I thought by telling him to follow his instincts he would have go

Linc I stared at the boy in front of me. Apart from the eyes, he looked just like a young Alpha Colt. A cheeky grin on his face as he waits for me to say something else. It was only this morning that he had been trying to pull himself up. “And you talk?” “Uncle Linc, stop being silly.” He turns around to the Alpha. “Dad, mummy said can you take me shopping.” “What is happening?” I mutter “Every few hours, he is growing out of what he is wearing.” “That isn’t what I meant.” “I know what you meant, but I would prefer it if we didn’t discuss it right now.” He nods his head at his son. “Dad, I know you are talking about me.” He hops up onto Alpha Colt’s lap and blows his cheeks out. He leans forward on the desk, doodling with a pen. “Is there anything I can do?” I wasn’t entirely sure how I was supposed to help. But it was taking the heat off of Daphne for a while. “I haven’t been to Kaitlin’s house. Could you go search it? See if this has anything to do with the early labour.”

DaphneThe pan fell from my hand this time. It was bad enough knowing that he was Lilah’s son and he was already this big. But shifting from a wolf to a Lycan. Was that even possible? I certainly did not know enough about them to know that this could happen.Linc’s mouth is hanging open. He hadn’t even looked away. Within seconds Aiden is stumbling backwards, crashing onto the sofa and his body quickly changes back to a small boy, although slightly taller than before. His breathing is heavy. His chest rapidly moves up and down as he tries to catch his breath. Whatever had happened inside of him, it was too much for him to handle.“Aiden?”“Here” He mutters breathlessly. His hand shooting up from the sofa to let me know he was okay.“Are you?”He sits up, staring back at me with Lilah’s eyes. “I’m okay Auntie Daphne.”Aiden pulls the jacket back around him as I try to make sense of what I just witnessed.“Does your dad know?” Linc mutters.Aiden shakes his head and runs a hand through

LilahAlpha Colt’s deep voice seeps into my head. “Can you come to the office please!”I hadn’t spoken to him since he let Linc take our son away. Instead, I had spent my time alone and in our room. I had been trying to decide whether I should just go and get him, but Aiden had been so happy about the idea of staying with Linc.“Leave me alone, Colt!” I mutter back“We need to talk. I can come and get you if that’s how you are going to be!” I hear the amusement in his voice“Fine!” I snap and slowly make my way down to the office. As I open the door, I see her chocolate hair and immediately turn around.“Lilah, we need to sort this out. Your sulking isn’t helping anyone.”“I’m not sulking!” I snap in defence“Lately, the only time you speak is to have a go at someone or throw out a sarcastic remark. Now sit.” Slowly moving through the room. I keep my eyes on her as I take the seat next to Colt. “There is something that Daphne wishes to share with you. And trust me, you will want to

Alpha Colt“Why do you have a picture of me and Daphne as babies? Wait, why is there a baby picture of me and Daphne?” She stares at the photo, “Is it actually us?”“Apparently so.”“It looks like me, but..”“Daphne confirmed it.” Lilah opens her mouth to speak, “ And before you go off on a rant at me. I was about to tell you when Daphne turned up to tell me about Aiden.”I feel her flutter through a range of emotions. “Control your thoughts. Aiden can feel them too. I don’t need him charging in here again!”She frowns at me. “It’s hard to control my thoughts when new things keep coming to light. Where did you even get this?”“Daphne’s grandma was tracking you.”“You still didn’t answer my question!”“Daphne had them in the flat. They were sent to her after she told her mother she was safe.”“Another thing she didn’t tell me about!” She groans at me“Linc believed her when she told him that she hadn't looked at them. This photo was actually hidden under the box. Daphne didn’t know

LilahHe really did believe her!I couldn’t believe it. It had always been me convincing him that she wasn’t a problem. Up until the truth came out, I had defended her all the way. And just like that, our roles had been reversed. And I couldn’t let go.“You have to try Lilah.” He tells me again as we get ready for bed.“It’s not that easy.”“I remember when I was telling you the same thing. You used to tell me to relax. Now, if I were to say that to you. How would you react?” I roll my eyes at him“Exactly. We need to look at the bigger picture.”I couldn’t believe he was using my own words against me.“Shut up, Colt.”“Really, Lilah. Can we not be adults about this?”“It wasn’t that long ago that I was worried about you hunting me down.” I mutter“And what does that have to do with this?”“I’m just saying so much has changed.” I sighHe leans in through the bathroom door, watching me brush my teeth. “You’re right. We have a son. I bet you never saw that coming?” He half smiles at me

Alpha Colt“What are we going to do about him?”“He’s your son, put an order on him like you would anyone else.” Linc shrugs his shoulders at me“He can block me.” I growl. “You heard him, he wanted silence.”“I don’t know, Alpha. Something like this has never happened before. I think it’s going to be a learning curve for all of us. But he is definitely a chip off the old block. At least he is safe and unharmed.”I couldn’t argue with that. I see our son disappear into the house and shake my head.“It has to be because he is part Lycan.” Daphne mutters. “Maybe that is why he is growing so quickly.”“What would you know?” Lilah snaps.“I know I still don’t know everything, but surely shifting isn’t what's making him grow?”“It could be. Our bones snap and move and heal as we shift.” I mutter as Linc protectively wraps an arm around Daphne and pulls her away from Lilah. “We don’t shift until we are eighteen. Our bones have pretty much already grown. It seems the only logical explanation

They don’t even look back.“Li….”“Shut the fuck up.”“I….”“I told you to shut up.”This wasn’t the girl I had originally met. She was nothing like the girl I had shared a flat with either. There was so much anger coursing through her. It was like she could no longer see anything else. She turns to look at me. Her hands balled up into fists at her side. “This is all your fault.”“I didn’t ask Alpha Colt to do this if that’s what you mean.”“Not him! All of this. He is making me stay here because for some fucked up reason he believes you.”“I just told him the truth.”“Is it the truth though, Daphne? You’ve lied so much that you probably can’t even tell.”“It’s the truth. I told him everything I know. Even weird things that my grandma used to say.”“I don’t believe you.”“Then there is nothing else I can say, Lilah. T

Lilah She looks at me with those dark eyes of hers. Her jaws hangs open as she tries to make sense of my words. Her head slowly moves up and down but her eyes become full of tears. “I lost my pup for you.” “I know.” I immediately felt guilty. I had been blaming her for everything when all along she had done what she could to protect me and that meant sacrificing her pup. I had been so stupid. “And why did the Moon goddess show herself to me? I’m no one.” She mutters quietly. “You are still half wolf. Who do witches pray to?” It wasn’t something I ever thought about “The horned God. That’s what grandma said.” She mutters as she looks at her hand. “Did she bind us? Was the Moon Goddess responsible for tying us together?” “I don’t know.” “Lilah, I don’t understand.” “You’re not the only one. What does it all mean? Why are we bound by blood?” “I think we were always supposed to be. I mean we share the same father. You and I are half sisters. It can't be anything else.” “You thin

Lilah The next morning, I find Colt packing up the office. “Going somewhere?” I look around at all the half packed boxes in amusement. “We are.” “We are? Did you try talking to me when I was asleep?" He laughs at me, “No, you said you wanted to live in the apartment.” “You’re joking right? None of this shit is going to fit in there.” He had more than enough boxes to fill the bedrooms. Plus it would have remnants of her and I couldn't be somewhere like that. “I thought that’s what you wanted?!” He stops packing and places his hands on my small bump “Once, but there was barely enough room for me and ….” I hadn’t mentioned her name since I had set her on fire. Any time there was a fleeting thought, I would push it away and focus on something else. “You can say her name. She can’t hurt you anymore.” “No. Even thinking of her is giving her time. Anyway, what about when this one comes along? A town centre is hardly a place for a newborn wolf or Lycan.” He presses his lips to my ch

LilahPulling the blade from my chest. My lungs quickly expand, desperate to suck in some oxygen after what had just happened. The wound above my heart, knits itself together, removing almost all trace of nearly being stabbed to death. All that was left was my blood soaked top. For just a single moment, I was afraid to move. Afraid to look at the damage she had done.Linc appears in front of me. His dark eyes searching mine, her blood coated the skin around his mouth and his chin. He stretches a hand out towards me and pulls me to my feet. “You survived.” He mutters, running his eyes over me, “Not very many of the others did.”As I look around, I see that Callie had stopped jerking about, but her eyes were closed and her body was now motionless. Aiden was hunched over, weeping over Ivy’s body, surrounded by dead Lycans. “COLT!”“Here,” His voice is faint in my head. He was still flat on his back, from where Daphne had knocked him down. “You have to burn her.”My eyes flicker across

Lilah“Snare?” My voice breaks when I say his name. I thought he was long behind us. “What does he have to do with this?” “You should have listened to him. He was watching you. Just as grandmother requested.”“Your grandmother?” Everything was quickly unravelling. Everything that Daphne had ever done or said was all lies. Out of everyone, she had played me the most, lied to me the most. She had used my emotions to get what she wanted and I had fallen for it, again and again and again.“It really was you. You are the one that made the hospital cave in on us. You almost killed yourself!”She chuckles. “I knew I wouldn’t die well not completely. But the pissy Hybrid had to get involved, didn’t she. Sharing things that shouldn’t be shared. You and I, we could have been great together. A descendant of The Greats and me, a strong and powerful witch. But you ruined that. No matter what I did, you and your special Colt could not be torn apart.”“What about the photo?” Colt croaks from the gr

Alpha ColtHer breath quickened as she kept her hand steady on my chest. Annoyance maybe, or maybe she finally accepted that someone was lying to her. And that someone was Daphne. She shakes her head at me and moves away. “You’re wrong, Colt.” “Why are you refusing to see what is right in front of you? Even after all the shit you have been through, you still want to believe her.”“She won’t lie to me.”“How many times have you heard that? How many times are you going to keep forgiving her?”“She doesn’t need forgiveness this time because it isn’t her!”“Then who? Who do you think it is? And don’t you dare say me, again!”“That Ivy girl.”I wasn’t about to tell her that Aiden isn’t certain about her, because that would just give Lilah more reason to blame her instead of the real culprit. “Ivy was with you.”“Maybe she planned something, maybe she set something up.”“You don’t believe that. You are just trying to convince yourself.”“Fuck off, Colt.” She sits down on the chair, crossin

Lilah Making my way down the steps, I’m hit with a cold breeze that almost takes my breath away. Looking back, I see Colt and Linc deep in discussion, but at the same time, I could hear Daphne down below, her quiet sobs filling the silence. “Daphne?” She stops crying and her hands appear through the bars of her cell, “Lilah? Is that really you?” Stepping in front of her cell, she pulls me in for an awkward hug, holding on tightly. “Lilah, you have to make them understand.” “I’m trying.” I mutter. “But Colt still thinks you still want revenge, that’s why he is blaming you. He is refusing to listen to me.” “You’re not wrong. I did want revenge, but only because I was angry. When I saw Linc's dead body, anger was all I felt but then… I saw him, standing in front of me, like he had never died, only his eyes were black and all the anger, it disappeared.” “Do you know what happened with the hospital?” I ask quietly She shakes her head. “Linc told me, but it doesn’t make any sense. Daphne violently shakes her head. “I have already said, it wouldn’t work that way.” She glances up to my father, “I don’t know what you saw, Colt, And I don’t know what you mean by the light being under my skin. But I am not responsible for everything. You have to stop blaming me.” She leans her head back against the stone wall. I could see the light flickering along her neck.“You’re doing it now.” I stare at her“What?”“The light that dad spoke of.”She looks down at her hands and rolls the sleeves up. I wait for the door to be closed and to listen to their footsteps as they walk away.“Don’t bother, Colt.” Lilah growls at me.“With what?”“You are going to try talking me around. Convince me that Daphne is the bad person. But it’s not her Colt, it’s you.”“What are you talking about?”“This is what it’s all been about, isn’t it?”“Lilah, you are not making any sense.” I literally had no idea what she was going on about.“You never wanted me to have a sister. And it was why Linc was losing his hand all over again.Ivy says nothing. She watches my son and Lilah with wide blue eyes. A slight frown forming, but the frown quickly disappears when she sees me looking at her.“I will go and help.” She declares and starts climbing over the rubble towards my mate and son.“Well, I guess we didn’t need to kill her after all.” I mutter to Linc“If she’s dead, so is her magic.” He shows me that he can move around freely. “It's gone.” He beams at me but those dark eyes show an emptiness that seemed to go on forever. I was holding her hand when the roof started caving in. Colt, he pulled me away. He blocked me from the falling ceiling. He….” I knew he was blaming Daphne, but there had to be more to it. There just had to be.“Aiden, you need to let me go out there!”“No mum. Dad made it clear, you are to stay here with me and Ivy.”“Daphne is my sister!”“And she is the one who did this!” He glares at me with his grey eyes“I’m not so sure.” Ivy mutters from the window.“What?” Both Aiden and I speak in unison.Ivy hadn’t spoken a word since we had been in the house, well not to me anyway.
