I wanted to knock before entering but she was angry at us. She made it clear by giving us the silent treatment. It wasn't the kind we were used to, this one was different.

She was nonchalant about it, as if she had lost all her energy. I was scared and concerned about her. I turned the knob and the door wouldn't turn.

I knocked but there was no reply. I evanescenced into the room. She was sitting on her bed, with her legs crossed and her eyes on the TV but the volume was on mute. There was no how she was watching that. She didn't acknowledge my presence at all. My heart beat was starting to rise.

“Here..." I handed the cheque to her.

She didn't take it so I dropped it on her bedside table.

I stood there staring at her while she stared into the thin air.

" Rainee, I'm sorry."

“Why won't you talk to me, I said I'm sorry "
