Zeus’s POVShe sits beside me with an air of regality. Her hair is long and blonde behind her, burnishing in the moonlight that dares to shine high above us.I’ve brought her here to show her the wonders of our realm, the wonders of being a goddess.Little birds tell me she isn’t intent on becoming her mother's successor. That’s both angering and saddening. She is the sole heir of two gods. Her responsibility is to take on those charges when her parents relinquish their holds. One parent is already well on his way to giving up his charges as the witch-kind god and vying to take my role, my legacy.I have been the GOD for more years than I’d like to count, yet there’s a chance I will give up the ability to rule anything and everyone. This has always been my destiny and my ability, and I’ll never sit under Theseus.I must aim for this child’s trust and make her believe I will protect her. She’s already vulnerable, her upbringing has done that part for me, and I’m sure, with enough work,
Lilith’s POVZeus keeps to his word, bringing me home before the sun has even thought about rising in the sky. It’s still pitch black outside, besides the shine of the moon high in the sky, yet it feels right to be standing out here within the darkness.Zeus teleported us here from the top of the mountainside, which has mildly pissed me off.Why make me walk so far if he could have just teleported me there instead?I walk through the years and into the house and then climb the stairs.I feel less restless now but tired, so I climb the stairs and round the corner and slip inside the room, where I find Khai and Theo sleeping exactly where I had left them.So I drop the dressing gown and climb between them, letting their scent calm my nerves and finally allowing sleep to consume me.~~~I wake to the sound of my own heartbeat racing in my ears as I wake from another frightful dream where I was forcing the people down on earth to follow me.This time I was in a chair made from metal, and
Theo's POVThe moment I woke up, I could smell something g off about Lilith.I'm not entirely sure what it was, but it pulled something deep within my gut, telling me something was off.It isn’t like her to sleep in late. Usually, she's up way before I am, but today she isn't, so I climb out of bed quietly and leave her to catch up on the much-needed rest she obviously needs.Khai is already missing, his bedside completely empty and no doubt cold.He has the worst case of insomnia I have ever encountered. I presume his previous life is to blame, but maybe it's just part of who he is.The house is eerily quiet as I walk the halls and descend the stairs. No one's around, and breakfast has already been served. The remainder was left for Lilith and me under the stovetop heat lamp.I take a plate and invite myself to sit at the large dining table, and I eat enough to convince my body it isn't hungry anymore, and then I sip some coffee that has already been made too.Allowing myself some q
Lilith's POVI went back to bed after dinner. My body craved the sleep I missed out on the night before, and I think I well and truly needed it.I wake feeling refreshed, yet I have the need to clean.Something deep inside of me calls for that, and despite the fact this isn't my house, I a real downstairs early in the morning to indulge my cravings. The kitchen is my first port of call.I open the fridge and remove every item, then I find the cleaning supplies under the sink, and I start the painstaking task of cleaning the refrigerator.I wash, wipe and dry every surface ensuring there are no stream marks left behind. Then when I'm finished doing that, I place everything back inside in neat lines, piles and areas.By the time I've finished, something inside of me grins—the feeling blooming inside of me calling for me to continue my assault on the kitchen.Next comes the cupboard next to the fridge. Players are scattered within, several mixed sets grating on a nerve I hadn't even rea
Khai’s POV Breakfast is a quiet affair but not in a way where you cannot be comfortable breathing, let alone eating.I enjoy my food in silence, and once it’s over, Calley and Arlo volunteer to clean the kitchen of the breakfast remnants whilst Theseus takes Lilith outside. For that, I’m glad because my most opposed chore is cleaning.Theseus and Lilith spend most of the morning practising her gifts as I watch from the window inside the house.“There’s a really cool hike for two miles down the mountain. Shall we take Lilith?” Theo asks me, his shoulder brushing my own as he stands near to see outside. His body goes rigid, and I’m sure he’s seeing something. That’s I’ve triggered a vision. And though I cannot see it and I know nothing of its content, I can tell it’s a good vision—one filled with happiness and love.“Okay, perhaps Celeste has a basket. We could make a picnic?” I suggest.“I do have a basket. Three, in fact. Can I suggest you go south three miles to the mysteries meadow
Lilith's POVKhai and Theo enter the yard with a basket and two identical smiles on their faces as they walk up to me.Both of them peck either side of my cheek before announcing we are going for a hike.To say I’m surprised is an understatement.I’m the size of a whale and would probably roll better than I’d walk, and I’m tired from all my extracurricular activities this morning, but who am I to refuse spending time with the pair of them?As we walk, Theo describes a purple-covered meadow that Celeste suggested for us to visit. It sounds whimsical and inviting, and it gives me that pep in my step that I hadn’t had when we left the yard.So we walk hand in hand as the trees cover us, the sun beaming high above and filtering through the foliage of the trees just enough to light our quiet and peaceful path.Strangely, many gods and goddesses live up here in this realm, but besides Zeus, we haven’t come upon anyone else’sThe trees range from small saplings to trees probably as old as t
Theo's POVCeleste was correct, this little meadow is something to behold, and I'm glad I took her advice to come here and show Lilith the beauty this realm and world up here has to offer. If the sunrise and sunset weren't something to fall in love with, this meadow is.It's beautiful here; there's no question about that. The three of us spend quality time with one another, lying on the blanket Celeste supplied us with.We are talking about the future, of what our life might look like.Of our ideas about Lora's room and how we want to raise her. We cuddle, and then we sit up to eat.The food again is delicious. Fresh fruit, chopped vegetables. Sandwiches and slices of cake to top that all off. Celeste really does know how to host. It’s a shame she probably has no one to host usually. So we fill ourselves with her food, yet again and then we sit staring at all of the oddly placed wisteria trees.“How unusual for there to only be wisteria in this one meadow,” Khai notes.“Perhaps someone
Lilith's POVI scream in fright as I watch Rex lunge for the bear that's easily just as big as him. It's dark brown, its paws are enormous, and it's aggressive. And what's worse is it couldn't have chosen a worse time to attack than right now.My stomach contracts with pain every few minutes, and the skin tightens. My stomach became hard as my breaths caught in the back of my throat with the slight pain felt at the base of my tummy.Khai holds onto me, the basket in his hands forgotten as it falls to the floor at our feet.I'm not sure why but seeing the basket down there, abhors me.There's something about the basket. So I bend to grab it. Holding onto it with one hand as Khai puts my back to a tree trunk and his back to me.Both of his hands come back to cage me behind him, using himself to shield me away from danger.Snarls, snapping teeth, and two types of growls wound in front of me, and I listen blindly as Rex and the bear fight tooth and nail for dominance over the situation.T
