Hello readers. All I can say is thank you for reading my story and apologize for the long wait for this chapter. It has been very emotional for me to write and only hope it was worth the wait. I will try to keep the next chapters rolling as I did before this one.
ShawnHearing Abbigail say it out loud that she wanted to adopt these babies put a smile on my face. I had to leave the room so I could cry and not wake those precious little girls. I slid down the wall as the man and woman came out to see what was going on. They sat on either side of me as I cried out in mixed emotions. I was torn between the loss of my own twins only to be blessed with a stranger's twins.Minutes later, as I was calming down, Melanie came out and let me know she got Abbigail calmed down and asleep. I thank her, the couple and go back in the room. The twins were still asleep and Abbigail looked peaceful. I climb in with Abbigail and she lets out a content sigh. I kiss her forehead and tuck hair away from her sleeping face.I woke to a baby crying and to my surprise, Abbigail was sitting in a chair in the room already nursing with a baby. I notice that there's a bottle on the table next to her and pick up the remaining baby. I take the chair next to Abbigail and begin
ShawnI head back out to the others, leaving Abbigail to continue learn the layout of the nursery. Shelby was getting attention from Kelly and to my surprise she was accepting it. Our mothers were talking with Kelly's parents and our fathers were talking to the girls. I walk up to Beth and bring her to the kitchen for some privacy. I caress her stomach and feel as the baby kicks moments later. Tears fill my eyes and she takes me in her arms. Soft sobs are muffled into her shoulder and she rubs my back in comfort. I hear someone walk in the kitchen and break away from Beth. I turn to see Melanie and she looks at me in sympathy. "I just needed to know he was okay. I need to know if it's me, if I'm not able to produce...," I choke in broken sobs and Melanie takes me in her arms. "They're nine weeks apart. What if the same thing happens to Beth?""Shawn," Abbigail chokes quietly from behind me. I turn to her and she had tears in her eyes. I shutter a calming breath and took her in my ar
ShawnA week passed since we lost the twins and Abbigail has days she's completely zoned out and I can't get through to her. On those days I hold her close and everyone leaves us alone. On days she's herself, she's happy, like we never lost the twins. On those days we make sweet, passionate love and the rest of the world is forgotten. As for today, today we're getting married. She stayed with Beth and Melanie and I stayed with my parents. I've yet to see her new dress, but I was warned I might get excited, if you know what I mean.I was sitting at my parents' kitchen table, pushing my eggs around on my plate. My mother places her hand on my arm, a concerned look her face. "Sweetheart, is everything okay? You've been unusually quiet this morning," she says with concern and worry in her tone."I'm worried about Abbigail. Yesterday she was the most distant since we lost the twins. She wouldn't let anyone near her, not even Shelby," I choke in a whisper as tears fill my eyes. "I hope today
AbbigailWe partied long into the night. I was feeling tired a few hours into the reception and curled up in a chair for a quick nap. I must have slept longer than I thought because I woke up covered in Shawn's uniform jacket. There was some light music playing and quiet conversations in the hall. I slip her jacket on and Shelby lays her head in my lap. I scratch behind her ear and she leads me to Shawn. I walk into her arms and press my face in her neck. I breathe in her sweet smell of vanilla and lavender and let out a content sigh. She rubs my back and I lower my head to her chest. I still felt a little tired and let out a tired sigh. "Did you sleep okay? I tried to keep things quiet so you could sleep," Shawn says in a soothing tone. "I did, thank you," I say quietly. "I'm still tired though.""Would you like to leave? Most of the guests are already gone and Melanie just offered to finish taking care of things here so I could get you out of here," she says softly kissing the top
AbbigailIt's Christmas Eve, the day before my due date for the twins. A lot has happened since Shawn and I got married. For instance, Tim and Tina were arrested for arson and two attempts of murder in the first degree. Kelly and her twins were put into foster care. Shawn sold our house for the same price she bought it for and we moved into her grandparents heavily guarded estate. It was left to her, but she was going to use it as a second home or holiday gatherings. Beth is carrying on well in her pregnancy and it's given Shawn and I hope to having our own child. Shawn and Melanie have been solving case after case and taking the next few days off for the holiday. This morning I woke up and my stomach felt uneasy. Shawn was already gone from bed and I go looking for her. My head started to spin as I stood up from the bed and use the walls for support. I make my way slowly towards the kitchen when the smell of orchids fills my nose. I let Melanie take my weight as I stumble from the w
AbbigailI woke the next morning and was immediately hit with a wave of nausea. I took slow, deep breaths to help subside the nausea. Shawn sits up next to me, hands me a peppermint and rubs my stomach. I let out a relieved breath, lean against Shawn and our door opens. I smell Joyce's perfume moments later and reach for her. She gives me her hand and presses two fingers on the inside of my wrist. Moments later the nausea is gone and I let out a relieved sigh. "I don't know what you just did, but thank you," I say in a relieved whisper. "It's a pressure point to help relieve nausea," Joyce says softly and kisses my forehead. "Sorry to barge in, I just wanted to check on you after yesterday.""It's okay, I am thankful for your concern. I no longer have any nausea. No apologies necessary," I say with a light smile. "I also wanted to steal you away. It's your first Christmas in our family and we have a tradition that my mother started years ago, when I was your age," Joyce chokes quiet
AbbigailI woke to Shelby growling protectively. I sit up and feel Shawn move in front of me. "You need to knock when we have Shelby in here and Abbigail is napping," Shawn says in an annoyed tone, keeping my naked body covered from whomever was at the door."Sorry," Henry says embarrassed. "Your mother sent me to get you girls for dinner.""We'll be right down," Shawn says quietly and our door closes. "Sorry you had to get woken up this way.""I'm glad I had you to shield my body," I say with a smile and hug at her back. Tears fill my eyes remembering what happened before I fell asleep. "I'm sorry I left you like that. I was going to take a cold shower to cool off, but Melanie showed up. I'm not sure which I feel most sorry for, walking away from you the way I did or having sex with Melanie."I climb out of bed before she could say or do anything and head to our closet. I grab some fresh clothes and get dressed. Shawn takes me in her arms as I finish and says in a choked whisper, "I f
AbbigailBeth and I were being released from the hospital after getting into a car accident last night. Shawn broke her arm, protecting me from an airbag and swerved the car to avoid the full force of the impact. Both of our babies are fine and lucky to not have lost them.I haven't heard from my mother since she apologized and left my hospital room. I ask Shawn to call her for me and she did, even though she was still mad at her. I wanted to tell her my reasons for wanting the implants and hopefully she could understand. I was in the middle of taking a bath when there was a soft knock on the door. "Come in," I say quietly and moments later I could smell both my mother and Shawn's perfume. "Shawn, can you help me out? I feel a little dizzy.""I'll get Melanie, she'll be able to carry you to bed from the tub," she says softly and I nod. "If I hear her become stressed with you here, you'll be leaving.""I understand," my mother chokes quietly. "Shawn," I say quietly in a breathy whispe
AbbigailI woke to Beth and Joyce's perfume. Melanie was still asleep, snuggled up at my back. Joyce kisses my forehead and gives my stomach a rub. I let out a relieved breath as their kicking calms down. "Sweetheart," Joyce asks with concern. "They've been kicking hard since we watched her shootout with Greg. I didn't get much sleep," I choke in a tired whisper. "Come here," Shawn says in a soothing whisper. Joyce helps me out of the hospital bed and Beth takes my place. I climb in on Shawn's left side and carefully lay on her chest. The moment her hand touches my stomach, the twins stop kicking and I let out a relaxed sigh. "Get some sleep," Shawn says in a soothing whisper as she rubs my stomach the best she could. "Don't overdo yourself," I choke in a sleepy whisper and hold her hand in place. "This is all I need." I wake to someone gently shaking my shoulder and look behind me at Jordan. She looked like she'd been crying all night. I look up and notice Shawn is sleeping. Jor
Shawn's POV Melanie and I installed cameras around the house. The police department has direct access to the feed, should there ever be an intruder while we're working, a car will be dispatched immediately. I'm not taking any risks of Greg showing up and harming anyone while I'm not there to protect them. It's been a few weeks and thankfully he hasn't tried anything. I came down for breakfast before work and Melanie wasn't in the kitchen. I look at Beth and she shrugs. She was swaying with Michael in her arms while warming a bottle to feed him. I look at Abbigail, she was eating her breakfast and shakes her head. I head back upstairs and find her sitting on the floor of her and Beth's bathroom. She had tears in her eyes, looking up at the sink. I spot a pregnancy test and take a look. It was positive and I sit next to her on the floor. She comes in my arms and lets out uncontrolled sobs. I rub her back in comfort and she lets out a calming
Hello fellow readers! I just wanted to announce that I have a second book coming out soon :). For those of you who have enjoyed Fated Love you're going to enjoy Soulmates. I would love to hear any feedback as long as it's not rude. I know I have typos and plan to fix them later. Soulmates so far has four chapters. I will be writing both books at the same time. I will do chapter for chapter, meaning I'll write a chapter for Fated Love and then one for Soulmates and so on and so on. Stay safe this summer. Happy reading!
Abbigail's POVShawn and Melanie have been gone over an hour and Joyce was looking for Shawn to do her grandmother's birthday cake. I explain to Joyce what was going on and offer to go check on them and let Shawn know Joyce was looking for her. When I reach our room, it was quiet inside.I quietly open the door and found them passed out in bed. I quietly close the door and head back down to the kitchen. Joyce looks up as I enter and tears fill her eyes when she didn't see Shawn with me."They're asleep," I say softly and she nods lightly. The tears in her eyes roll down her cheeks and says in a choked whisper, "I didn't know about my mother's condition until Shawn and Annie were born. I was ready to put Shawn up for adoption when my mother told me about it. It's also when she told me the truth about my other mother. She said that if I went through with the adoption she'd never speak to me again."I take her in my arms as she breaks into
Abbigail's POVTammy called me after Alexis passed out after her ultrasound. She said that Shawn went into a trance and wasn't responding to her voice. Melanie was there when Tammy told me what happened on speaker and her eyes fill with tears. All she had to say was "Iraq" and I knew Shawn was having a PTSD attack.I ask our sisters for a ride to the hospital and Melanie stayed with the others. When we got to the hospital a nurse brought me to the room where Shawn, Alexis and Tammy were. Alexis was still asleep in the examination chair and Shawn was sitting up against a wall with Tammy still trying to break her out of trance.I kneel the best I could in front of Shawn and caress her face in my hands. I meet her eyes and saw that she was ready to lose it. Something happened in Iraq that set her off when Alexis collapsed in Shawn's arms."Talk to me Shawn," I say in a soothing whisper and she meets my eyes, relieved I was there. "What happ
Abbigail's POVI was napping on the couch when I woke to a kiss on my forehead. Shawn was knelt on the floor in front of me with her hand caressing my stomach. I give her a tired smile and she gives me a kiss. I notice Jordan behind her with Aubrey and her mother Alexis, both of them looked scared and covered in bruises."We were on our way to the cemetery when Aubrey called Jordan. Greg was using his belt to whip them and he was severely drunk," Shawn says quietly and I could see a hint of anger in her eyes. "I offered them the guest room with the double beds for a while."She helps me sit up and I walk up to Alexis and Aubrey. One look in Alexis' eyes and tears fill my eyes. "How far are you," I ask in a choked whisper."You're pregnant," Shawn asks in a protective tone and I knew she was definitely angry now.Alexis nods vigorously and breaks into uncontrolled sobs. Surprise falls on Aubrey's face and I'm guessing she didn't know. "I
Abbigail's POVI woke up in the middle of the night to Shawn singing quietly, but she wasn't in the room. I climb out of bed and go looking for her. I follow her voice to Michael's room and she was gently rocking him back to sleep. Beth was asleep in the bay window, like she'd been sleeping with Michael.Melanie joins me in the hall, admiring both Shawn and Beth. She signals Shawn, who nods while continuing to sing to Michael. Melanie takes my hand and leads me to her and Beth's room. She helps me in their bed and motions for me to lay on her chest.I lay on her chest and she rubs my stomach. I let out a content sigh and she kisses the top of my head. "How are you feeling," she asks quietly."I'm okay, just woke up to her singing," I say in a yawn and snuggle closer to her."You just seemed like something was bothering you when I walked up to you in the hallway," she says with concern."Just picturing her singin
Shawn's POVI woke to Beth trying to take Michael from my chest. She holds her hands up apologetically and I wrap my arms around him as he whimpers from being disturbed. I quietly hum the lullaby I sing to Abbigail and he instantly goes back to sleep.Beth looks at me with surprise and kisses my forehead. "What time is it," I ask in a quiet whisper, rubbing my eyes."It's six o'clock in the morning. Abbigail is still sleeping and Michael slept all night. I thought he'd be up to feed by now," she whispers quietly and hands me a coffee. "I know who to ask to help him sleep if he gets fussy. He didn't really sleep much the other night.""Were you able to sleep last night," I ask quietly as I sip my coffee. She nods lightly, stroking Michael's patch of hair. He let's out a content sigh and nuzzles his face under my chin. His hands grasp at my shirt, holding onto me as if someone else tried to take him.I rub at his back gently as my
Shawn's POVAbbigail and I walk into Beth's hospital room the next day and she was in instant tears when she saw me. Melanie took the baby from her and I climb in next to her. I no longer felt pain when I moved, only if there was too much pressure on my side then I felt pain.I comfort her and Abbigail sat feeding Michael a bottle. "Am I hurting you," Beth asks in a choked whisper, afraid to lay against me.I wrap my arm around her and pull her closer to me. "I'm okay, it's my right side," I say in a soothing whisper and she lets out a calming breath."I wouldn't have let her leave the house if she was in critical pain," Abbigail says quietly.Abbigail's eye surgeon knocks on the door quietly and I meet him in the hall. "I was told you were here," he says softly and looks in at Abbigail. "Do you think she'd be willing to get the implants sooner? Your obgyn has been keeping me updated and mentioned that she was no longer expe
