Eve’s mind was a whirlwind of confusion and disbelief. The building around her—the Silverclaws' home—felt colder now that the initial shock had worn off. The truth of the situation started sinking in, but it wasn’t a truth she was ready to accept. She had been thrust into this world, this legacy, and now she was supposed to make a choice? Choose whether to embrace her destiny or reject it?

How was she supposed to make that kind of decision? She wasn’t some mythical creature, some chosen one from an ancient prophecy. She was just Eve Langley—someone who had wanted to find peace and answers. Now, she was being told that her life had been mapped out long before she even arrived in Black Hollow.

“What do you mean I’m part of the Silverclaws?” Eve’s voice broke the silence that had settled over the room. She turned her gaze from Luca, Lila, and the other members of the pack, unable to keep her eyes on them for too long. “How could I be part of a pack? I’m just... I’m just me.”

“You’re not just you,” Luca said, his voice gentle yet firm, as if trying to reassure her. “The prophecy speaks of someone who will bridge the divide between the packs. Someone with the strength to unite both the Silverclaws and the Shadowfangs.”

“Strength? I don’t even know what’s going on. I’m still trying to wrap my head around this werewolf business.” Eve’s tone became more agitated, her frustration building as the words spilled out.

The older man, who had remained quiet up until now, spoke again. His graying hair made him appear older than Eve had initially guessed, but his eyes were sharp, focused. “The strength lies in you accepting what you are,” he said, his voice thick with authority. “You are part of a bloodline that dates back centuries. Your grandmother—she knew. She never told you because she thought you weren’t ready, but now, it’s clear. It’s time for you to face it.”

“My grandmother knew?” Eve echoed, disbelief mixing with an aching sense of betrayal. “Why didn’t she tell me? I’ve lived my entire life thinking I was just a regular person, not part of some supernatural war between packs!”

Luca’s face softened, and he moved closer, his expression now a mixture of empathy and determination. “She thought you were better off living a normal life, Eve. She thought she could protect you from it all. But the moment you returned to Black Hollow, everything changed.”

Eve swallowed hard, trying to make sense of it all. The idea that her grandmother had known—and kept such a huge secret from her—hurt more than she expected. The years of not knowing, of feeling like something was off but never being able to put her finger on it, had all led to this moment. And yet, she still didn’t understand why.

“You say I’m part of a prophecy,” Eve continued, her voice quieter now, “but I don’t know anything about werewolves. I don’t know anything about packs or about any of this. I’m just a woman who’s confused and scared.”

“You’re right to be scared,” the woman, Lila, said sharply. She stood tall, her posture regal, as though she carried the weight of the entire pack on her shoulders. “But fear is something you’ll have to overcome, Eve. It’s what’s kept our packs divided for generations. The fear of the unknown. The fear of what’s different. You’re the key to ending that. But only if you embrace who you truly are.”

“Why me?” Eve asked, her voice barely above a whisper. “Why now? What makes me special?”

Luca’s eyes locked with hers, his gaze intense, as if he were searching for something deep inside her. “It’s the bloodline, Eve. You’re not just any ordinary person. The Silverclaws are bound to you in a way you don’t yet understand, and so are the Shadowfangs. Your blood has been marked since birth.”

Eve felt a cold shiver run down her spine. Her mind was racing. The words were too much, too fast. She needed time to process all of this, but the more she thought about it, the more confused she became.

“How do I fit into all of this?” she asked, trying to keep the tremor out of her voice. “What’s my role?”

“The role of the uniter,” Lila answered, her voice almost sing-song in its certainty. “The child of the moon will be the one to bring peace. The Blood Moon will be the catalyst—the event that brings the power of the two packs together. And you, Eve, are the one who will set everything in motion.”

“The Blood Moon?” Eve repeated. “I’ve heard of it. It’s some sort of prophecy, right? But I don’t know what it means. How am I supposed to do something about it if I don’t even know what’s happening?”

“You’ll understand soon,” Luca said, his voice unwavering. “But first, you need to learn who you are. Who we are.”

The weight of his words hung in the air, and Eve realized that her life was about to change in ways she couldn’t predict. Her first instinct was to run, to escape, but something in Luca’s words—and in the intensity of his gaze—kept her rooted in place. The Silverclaws weren’t just offering her a place; they were offering her purpose. A reason. A path she had never considered.

The older man with the graying hair stepped forward, his gaze steady. “We’ve been waiting for you, Eve. The packs have been in conflict for generations. And as much as we might wish for peace, it can’t happen unless the two sides are united. The Blood Moon is coming, and it will force our hand. You are the one who can prevent the destruction of everything we’ve fought for.”

“Allegiance?” Eve repeated, her brow furrowing. “I don’t even know what that means. How can I choose something when I don’t understand what I’m choosing?”

Luca’s jaw tightened, but his expression remained calm. “The Shadowfangs, led by Elias Thorn, have always been our enemies. They believe in dominance, in power. They’ve been trying to claim the land that belongs to the Silverclaws, to conquer everything. But they won’t stop there. They’ll take it all if they can.”

“And the Silverclaws?” Eve asked, her brow furrowing. “What makes you different?”

“We believe in balance, in order. We live by a code. But even the Silverclaws are divided. There are factions within the pack, each with their own agenda. Some want to rule, others want peace, and others want power for themselves. It’s not as simple as it seems.”

Eve struggled to absorb everything. The war between the packs. The prophecy. The factions within the Silverclaws. Nothing made sense. How was she supposed to navigate this complex world when she barely even understood it?

“I don’t know if I can do this,” Eve said, her voice trembling despite her best efforts to sound steady. “How can I possibly be the one to fix this? I don’t even know how to begin.”

“You don’t have to do it alone,” Luca said, his voice softer now, almost as if he were trying to comfort her. “The Silverclaws will stand by you. We’ll help you understand your place in all of this. But it’s a choice you have to make. You either embrace your role as the uniter, or you turn away from it. But understand this—the Blood Moon is coming. It’s not a question of if it will happen, but when.”

Eve looked at each of them, their faces a mixture of hope, fear, and expectation. She wanted to run, to escape, but she couldn’t ignore the pull in her chest, the strange connection she felt to them. This was her life now, whether she accepted it or not.

“You’re saying the fate of both packs rests on my shoulders?” Eve asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Luca nodded slowly. “Yes. And it’s a burden you must bear, whether you’re ready or not.”

Eve closed her eyes for a moment, feeling the weight of his words settle in her chest. The world around her felt like it was shifting. Her reality had been turned upside down, and there was no turning back. But what would the future hold?

“What do I need to do now?” Eve asked, her voice stronger than before. She wasn’t sure if she was ready for whatever was coming, but one thing was clear—she couldn’t turn back.

Lila’s eyes narrowed slightly as she assessed Eve, as though weighing her decision. “Now, you need to begin your training. You need to learn what it means to be a Silverclaw. The sooner you embrace your powers, the better. You’ll need to be ready for what’s coming. And it won’t be easy.”

“Training?” Eve repeated, feeling a twinge of panic. She didn’t know anything about being a werewolf, about shifting, about the abilities they were talking about. What did she even need to train for?

Luca gave her a reassuring nod. “We’ll start with the basics. We’ll teach you how to control your shift, how to tap into the power within you. And you’ll learn about the history of the Silverclaws—their code, their way of life. But above all, you’ll need to learn to trust yourself. Trust the wolf inside of you.”

Eve swallowed hard, her heart racing. The idea of shifting, of transforming into something... other was terrifying. But at the same time, there was a pull inside her, a longing to understand it all. To accept it. To be it.

Luca stepped closer, his presence almost overwhelming now. “You are part of this world, Eve. And whether you accept,”

Eve woke with a start, her breath coming in short gasps. The dream had felt so real—dark woods, glowing red eyes watching her from the shadows, and a deep voice whispering her name. She ran a hand through her hair, trying to shake off the lingering fear. But something inside her told her that the dream was not just a dream. It felt like a warning. The early morning light streamed through the wooden cabin’s small window. The air was cool, carrying the scent of damp earth and pine. For a moment, she allowed herself to enjoy the peacefulness. But that peace didn’t last long. A loud knock on her door startled her. Before she could respond, Lila’s voice came through, urgent and firm. “Eve, wake up. Luca wants you outside. Now.” Eve sighed, stretching her sore limbs. After days of intense training, her muscles ached in places she didn’t even know existed. But she knew better than to keep Luca waiting. The tension in the pack house was growing worse by the day. Eve could feel it in the way people spoke in hushed whispers, how their eyes darted around as if expecting danger to strike at any moment. The revelation of a traitor among them had put everyone on edge. Trust was fragile, and suspicion lurked in every corner. Eve couldn’t stop thinking about Elias’s warning. If he was right, that meant someone close to Luca was working against him. Someone inside the Silverclaw pack. But who? And why? She had barely slept the night before, her mind replaying the moment Elias had looked her in the eyes and told her the truth. The way he had stepped closer, his voice serious yet laced with something else—concern? Maybe even something deeper? She wasn’t sure. Sleep had evaded her once again, her mind a tangled mess of Elias’s warning and Damien’s probing questions. A traitor within the pack. She couldn’t ignore the unease that settled deep in her chest. The moment they stepped into the clearing, the waiting warriors closed in, their faces marked with concern and barely concealed suspicion. Some glanced at Eve with unreadable expressions, while others focused on Luca and Damien, as if expecting another fight to break out between the two alphas. Luca strode forward, his voice cutting through the murmurs. “Everyone inside. Now.” The command left no room for argument. The warriors parted to let them pass, though their unease lingered in the air like a storm about to break. Eve felt the weight of their stares, the unspoken questions pressing down on her. She kept her chin up, refusing to cower, but inside, her mind was spinning. The red-eyed woman’s words clung to her like shadows, refusing to fade. Eve stood frozen in place, her mind racing with Nyra’s words. The prophecy was meant to be broken? Everything she had been told—the Blood Moon, the fated war, her role in all of it—was nothing more than a constructed fate designed to control her? The weight of it settled heavily in her chest. She wanted to deny it, to push it away, but deep down, something about Nyra’s revelation rang true. Luca’s expression remained hard, his blue eyes unreadable. “You expect us to believe that centuries of prophecy can just be undone?” His voice was tight with skepticism. Nyra’s red eyes gleamed in the dim torchlight. “I don’t expect you to believe me, Alpha. I expect you to decide if you want to be a pawn or something more.” Eve looked at Damien. For once, the ever-smirking Alpha was serious. “If the prophecy was never meant to be fulfilled, then someone benefits from making sure it happens.” He glanced at Eve. “Which means they’ll stop at nothing to make sure you follow their script.” A chill

The weight of the Blood Moon prophecy sat heavy on Eve’s chest as she stood outside the Silverclaw stronghold, staring at the darkened forest ahead. The truth—the terrifying, undeniable truth—had been revealed. She was more than just a werewolf. More than just another member of Luca’s pack. She was something else entirely. Luca stood beside her, his arms crossed, his expression unreadable. Damien leaned casually against a stone pillar a few feet away, the faintest smirk tugging at his lips. The silence between them was thick, stretched tight by the tension that had yet to ease. “We need to move quickly,” Damien finally broke the quiet, pushing off the pillar. “My contacts picked up a trail leading east—out past the old ruins near Black Hollow.” Luca’s eyes narrowed. “And how exactly do you have contacts sniffing around my territory?” Damien chuckled. “Oh, Luca. You should know by now—I always know what’s happening.” Eve stepped between them before another fight could break out.
