Chapter 27

Roberta’s POV

Emma doesn’t show up and starts her work today, it’s not regular for her.

I ring her phone three times without an answer, her phone is set to voice mail.

The weather is changing from one minute to the next, maybe she has a fever or she is sick. I’m a bit worried about her, so I decided to visit her.

I stand outside the building where she lives, it’s hard to see inside the house. I directly walk into the house, inside the attic room is chaos.

There are no nights on but the furniture and Emma’s personal stuff I know are gone; the ground is a mess of broken vases and cups, and picture frames on the floor.

The terror grips me.

“Emma? Emma! Are you there?” I start to shout Emma’s name, but no one answers.

There is something that looks like human legs under the bed, I feel terrified from my body, like some cold part of me is watching the scene unfold.

Emma is in her nightdress, her face is pulp.
