Kyle's POV...
My body ached as I groaned painfully while trying to sit up. I tried to adjust my eyes to the unfamiliar space. It took me a few seconds to remember where I was. My eyes searched hurriedly for Aria, but she wasn't in the cell with me. I panicked at the thought of Wade hanging her to death. I rushed towards the gate, ignoring the stinging pain in my arm.
Relief washed over me when she got dragged through the passageway and dumped like a sack into the cell. Even though the sight of her evoked rage within me, I felt glad that she was alive."Aria!" I called out, holding her up. "Are you okay?"She huffed blowing at the loose strand of hair that came down her face. "I'm fine.""What did that bastard do to you?""You seem to have been asleep for a long while. He must have had the moment of his life just seeing me tied. That moron!" She hissed. I chuckled in response. "Why are you chuckling?"My finger trailed her face, "how can you stillAria's POV...I watched as his chest rose heavy and slow-paced breathing. I have always known he looks cute when asleep, but this time innocence was written all over his face. It makes my heart clench, knowing his current state is all because of me. Wade has made it a point of duty to visit us and throw taunting words our way. I only held back in responding to him because of Kyle's continuous warnings not to.Wade is so petty, and it seems like Breona's death brought out the worst of him. It makes me wonder what I was thinking to have ever fallen in love with him. All he ever did was ask me to do unreasonable things while fooling me with his fake affection and promise to marry me. I can't believe I was so stupid to have allowed it."Are you okay?" Kyle's sleepy voice asked, bringing me out of my reverie.I nodded hurriedly, "I am fine."He sat up with an amused smirk on his face. "Were you watching me sleep?"I scoffed at him, "You think too highly of
Author's POV...Barrin stared at the table, fading out of the discussion. The pack's council aren't finding Kyle's absence funny; despite his attempts to cover up on his behalf, it still wasn't enough. They seem to take his absence as a disregard for them. The Alpha isn't supposed to leave his office empty without prior notice."You all must understand that he is out for a very important duty," Barrin said, trying to sound convincing. The head of the omega clan gave him a tilted look, "how is it that we are unaware of this sort of duty? Why would there be a meeting today if everyone here is just finding that the Alpha isn't in the pack at the moment? What if something.goes wrong?""Why would something go wrong when the Beta is situated, and the Zeta is available? What are you driving at, Omega Dillon?" He bellowed, sounding angry."I don't think it's appropriate for us to argue over this; if the Alpha is away, he definitely has something worthy of his time
Kyle's POV...I stared at her sleepy face smiling sheepishly; she looked so peaceful when sleeping. That is the only time I get to see a more reserved part of her. Aria snuggled closer into my embrace, so shameless it made me chuckle lightly. She seems to have forgotten that we are in captive. Our urge for each other was too strong that we almost had sex in this filthy room, but I respect her beyond such a silly act; we would have to wait for us to be freed from here.According to Axel, we would be able to make it out tonight. I can't believe Wade went all out to throw a party in celebration of capturing Aria. I have a feeling the death of his lady has gotten to him quite much. I don't think any normal person would act the way he is behaving. Sighing, I rested my head against the scruffy wall, counting the hours remaining for Aria and me to be free.As much as I hate being stuck here, I am glad it's with Aria. The positive side to this state is that we both are getting over our misund
Aria's POV...I must admit that I am still in total shock. I can't believe, for the second time, I have been able to escape death at Wade's hands through Kyle. I would have been hanged to death and struggling hard for my life. I had thought it would be hard to escape such a fate, but it appears Axel worked really hard planning the escape. It's no surprise it took him longer than expected to come get us.With a soft sigh, I leaned into Kyle, soaking myself deeper in the water. I have never felt this safe and comfortable around him before. Probably it's his reassuring words or the possessiveness in his touches that makes me want to be closer to him. The bath was warm to the exact degree we needed to wash off the dirt from our bodies and help our rusted bones relax. I don't think I want anything more."What are you thinking about?" Kyle asked, trailing his finger around my nipple.I chuckled, curling up against him. "thank you, Kyle. Thank you for saving me."
Kyle's POV...I inhaled the smell of Aria's hair deeply, feeling like I was lost in a garden filled with white lilies. Last night felt like the best day of my life. Having Aria by my side without worrying about anything except wishing the night wouldn't end. She stirred in my arms, leaning closer to me. I smiled lightly, kissing her forehead. We had spent the entire night reminiscing on our cold days at the Night Walker's pack cell. I am not going to let Wade get away so easily. He has to be punished for abducting the Alpha and Luna of the Moonstone pack. Everyone knows it's against the pack rules to effect any harm on an outside pack member. I will make sure he pays for his insolence.Standing quietly to avoid waking her up, I tiptoed to the bathroom to wash my face. Staring at my pale face in the mirror, I inhaled deeply, feeling restless all of a sudden. Putting on some clothes, I stepped out of the room, making my way to the training ground instead of staying at my usual spot to s
Author's POV... Watching his boss keenly as he toyed with his food, Jaden exhaled tiredly, dropping the glass in his hand. Barrin has been a walking corpse for days and appears disinterested in everything around him. It affected his health and everyday life. He no longer smiles or makes a joke. He appears disinterested in whatever is going on around him.The older man worries that he will collapse if he keeps ignoring himself in that manner. Standing before him with both hands on the table, Jaden cleared his throat."Can you quit doing this to yourself, please? Why are you acting this way, sir?" He cautioned, snatching the cutlery from Barrin's hand.Throwing his hand down like it held no life in it, Barrin sniffed, leaning back into the chair. "Why exactly are you bothering me, Jaden?""It's you who is bothering me with your scary attitude. Why haven't you been going to the packhouse? Did something happen between you and Alpha Kyle?"Barrin felt his heart rac
Aria's POV...I was super excited to see my girls again; it felt like I had been gone too long. Raven was practically squealing through the hugs. Ella settled on the couch, looking relaxed; it was the first time I noticed such calmness around her. She always seems to be in a hurry."What's up with you, Ella?" I asked, unable to hold back any longer."I was about to ask the same thing," Raven added.Ella giggled, "It's nothing much. I am just excited that Cassandra and I have been able to find a neutral ground. She talks to me like we have been friends for ages.""Wow! I am so happy for you." Raven mumbled with a straight face while she leaned into the bed frame.I laughed lightly, "You don't appear very happy like you said. The action does speak louder than voice."She cackled, "I just feel so envious that you both will soon leave me to myself. I should really get a
Kyle's POV...Massaging the back of my neck to keep the stress from creeping further, I leaned into the chair, feeling tired. Just a few days away from the pack, I already have loads of work waiting for me. Also, I feel frustrated at the general pack council's response regarding my decision to teach Wade a lesson. I had reported him to the council and promised to deal with him on my own terms. But I guess no one wants to see my wrath. He was made to sign a pact never to step foot on my land and would be held responsible if anything happened to my Luna.If it were up to me, I would have loved to bring him over and have him beaten naked for all the humiliation he put Aria and me through. Still, I accepted the verdict in good faith only because of Aria. It would be too traumatic for her if such a discussion was brought up again. It took her a while to get back on track with her daily activity. Her wolf has been slow and seems to have gone i
