Chapter Eighteen

The office was thick with an eerie silence, so heavy it felt suffocating. Rhea could hear her own heartbeat pounding in her ears as she watched Kieran go through her résumé. She wondered if he always tried to intimidate people with his dark, almost suffocating aura.

The room was so quiet that if a pin dropped, it would echo. The silence was nerve-wracking, and just when she thought she couldn’t take it anymore, he finally placed her file back on his desk. Lifting his gaze, he met her eyes, making her shudder involuntarily.

“Tell me, what are you doing here?” Kieran asked, his voice deep and unwavering.

Rhea swallowed, her throat suddenly dry, but she forced herself to speak. She explained her purpose, detailing everything about why she was here and how she would serve as his assistant. She was quite impressed with herself for managing to keep her voice steady throughout.

Kieran listened without interruption. His sharp eyes studied her as if he were peeling bac

Chapter NineteenAfter hours of intense work, Rhea finally leaned back in her chair, stretching her stiff muscles. It was well past twelve, and she had barely noticed how much time had passed. "Hey, girl, are you done?" Anna asked, poking her head into Rhea’s office. "Almost... and done!" Rhea said with a triumphant smile. She let out a satisfied sigh, enjoying the brief moment of relaxation. "Sorry, you must be exhausted," Anna said sympathetically. "It's too early to be tired," Rhea replied, shaking her head. Surprisingly, she felt energized. The work, though tedious, was fulfilling. It was far better than sitting at home, feeling useless. Though she missed the comfort of the house, she had chosen this path, and she wasn’t going to complain now. "Well, it's lunchtime. Let’s explore the company’s cafeteria," Anna suggested, her eyes twinkling with excitement. "Wait, don’t I need permission to leave the office?" Rhea asked hesitantly. Kieran was the boss, after all, and he

Anna arranged her desk, she sat down to do some last minute check up, when she was done she switched off her computer, arranged her bag and walked outside. Descending down the stairs was Kael and Anna."Well look who it is, the new assistant, Rhea how was your first day?" Kael's cheerful voice rang in her ears as he approached her. "Mr Kael, it was great." Rhea said smiling. "Mr Kael? That makes me feel old, I prefer Kael since we're familiar with each other, I don't care about office etiquettes." he whispered the last words, Rhea nodded. "Okay Kael." Rhea said. "Yes, that's the spirit," Kael replied smiling. "So yes, Kael and I have something planned, it's a date, you'll be stuck with Kieran fo

Chapter Twenty-One:Rhea woke up early, quickly got dressed, and ate before heading out. She already knew the company's address, so she took a cab without hesitation. Upon arriving at the company, she walked straight to her office. She had arranged it the previous day, so it was still neat and organized. However, remembering the second rule—that Kieran hated dust—she knew she had to check his office as well. She called in the cleaner to dust the room thoroughly before she began arranging files, straightening his desk, and wiping down the shelves. As she carefully adjusted the books, a picture frame fell to the floor. "Hmm?" Rhea muttered as she bent down to pick it up. It was a photo of a woman, possibly in her late twenties. She had delicate features and a soft, confident smile. Rhea stared at the image, curiosity swirling in her mind. *His sister? Or maybe a past lover?* she wondered. *Well, at least now I know he’s not gay.* While she was still lost in thought, the door

Chapter Twenty-Two Rhea was still in shock that Kieran had noticed Mr. John staring at her throughout the meeting. She had assumed he was too reserved to care about such things, but his last statement before they left had surprised her even more—he had taken her side. They walked in silence toward the elevator, standing side by side as they waited. Rhea occasionally stole glances at Kieran, who stood with his back resting against the glass, his head leaning backward, eyes closed. His sharp jawline and flawless skin made him look effortlessly handsome. Even his side profile was breathtaking. Rhea quickly looked away, afraid that he would catch her staring. Once the elevator reached the ground floor, they stepped out and walked toward the car waiting outside. Kieran slid into the backseat, resting his elbow on the armrest while his other hand propped up his head against the window. His eyes remained closed, and for a moment, Rhea wondered whether he had fallen asleep from exhaus

Chapter Twenty-Three "Oh, I told you she'd be good for the job," Kael said casually. Kieran simply nodded, not bothering to say much. Kael’s eyes landed on the empty plate on Kieran’s desk. "Did you make that?" he asked, a teasing smile forming. "Wow, finally, you're taking better care of your health." Kieran gave him a blank look before ending the call without another word. After finishing his food, he stood up, picking up his plate. As he walked to the kitchen, a sudden sharp pain shot through his head. It was unlike anything he had ever felt before—so intense that he had to grab onto the counter for support. A low groan escaped his lips as he clenched his jaw, his breathing uneven. The pain wasn't just in his head; it coursed through his entire body, like something inside him was shifting, changing against his will. Kieran forced himself to move, each step toward his room feeling heavier than the last. He shut the door behind him and stumbled toward the bathroom, grip

Chapter 24 As Ethan continued searching for the files, Rhea could feel his eyes on her. He wasn’t being subtle about it either. Every few moments, she caught him stealing glances at her, his gaze lingering far longer than she was comfortable with. A cold shiver ran down her spine, and she fought the urge to shift in her seat. "So, how’s life as Kieran’s new assistant?" Ethan suddenly asked, breaking the silence. "Good," Rhea replied shortly, keeping her tone neutral. Ethan chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "You know, it’s been almost a month since you started working for him, and I must say, things seem to be going smoothly. I’ve never seen him so patient with anyone before. Either you’re exceptionally good at your job, or…" He trailed off, a smirk forming on his lips. Rhea narrowed her eyes slightly. "Or what?" "Or there’s something else," he said, his gaze darkening. Rhea didn’t like the sound of that. She had no idea what he meant, but she decided not to push the

Chapter Twenty-Five Rhea rushed to the restroom, her hands shaking as she gripped the sink. She stared at her reflection, her breath coming in shallow gasps. What the hell just happened? Her mind was still reeling from the encounter with Ethan. She pressed her lips together, taking deep breaths to calm herself. When she finally felt steady enough, she examined her face more closely. There, on her cheek, was a bright red bruise. Shit. The last thing she wanted was for Kieran to notice. The very thought of him seeing it and asking questions sent a wave of anxiety crashing over her. Rhea hesitated for a moment before pulling the scrunchie from her hair, letting the long strands fall forward to cover the mark. She ran her fingers through her hair a few times, making sure it concealed the bruise. Then she checked her phone. An hour had passed. Her eyes widened. Oh my God. I’m going to get fired. Heart pounding, she shoved her phone back into her pocket and hurried out of t

Kael watched her go before turning back to the employees, who were still whispering among themselves. "Alright, let's get back to work. Sorry for the inconvenience." The workers nodded, some still shaken by what they had just witnessed. Kael let out a sigh before heading straight to Kieran’s office. The moment he stepped inside, Kieran raised his head to acknowledge his presence. "Find me a replacement for Ethan," Kieran said simply, his voice devoid of any emotion. "I figured you'd say that," Kael replied, leaning against the desk. "But what about his father? You know how he is. He’s not going to take this lightly. The injuries alone will make him furious."

Chapter Thirty-FourRhea and Anna got smoothies, and after that, they returned home. Rhea walked into the house with the books in her hand. She took off her jacket, placed both the books and her jacket on the couch, and headed straight to the kitchen. She washed her hands and grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator before making her way back to the living room. She sat down on the couch, took a sip, and began flipping through one of the books. As she read, she noticed something peculiar. None of the books clearly specified who had attacked the white witches. The identity of the attackers remained unknown, even after the fall of Sylvaria. It also wasn’t stated whether Queen Madora’s daughter had survived or perished in the attack. That detail was completely omitted—as if her very existence was a mystery they were trying to erase.Rhea frowned, frustrated. So many gaps. She had a million questions, but none of the books gave her any answers. Just when she was beginning to get lo

They were equals in power, bound by shared knowledge and mutual respect. For a time, all was well. But eventually, the Black witches desired more—they sought a power that would set them apart, a force darker and older than anything known to the magical world.''Despite the warnings of the elders, the Black witches delved into forbidden magic—ancient, chaotic power hidden away for a reason. This dark force was said to whisper wickedness into the minds of those who summoned it, corrupting their hearts, twisting

Chapter Thirty-Two:Golden PackIn a quiet neighborhood of the Golden Pack, a woman returned home from the market. Her arms were full, holding a bag of groceries packed with fruits, vegetables, and a few household items. The late morning sun cast long shadows as she walked toward her modest house, her mind already preoccupied with what to cook for lunch.“I’m home!” she called as she stepped into the house, kicking the door shut behind her.Silence.She frowned slightly. There was usually some sort of response, the sound of her children playing, her husband watching TV or calling out from the kitchen. But now, nothing."Hmm… maybe they’re outside playing," she murmured, brushing the unease off with a forced smile. She moved quickly, placing the groceries on the kitchen counter. She decided to tidy the house first before preparing lunch. Chapter Thirty-OneRhea shot up from her bed, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she gasped for breath. Her body was drenched in sweat, and her eyes were wide with fear as if she had seen a ghost. Her hands trembled as they clutched the sheets, her heart pounding in her ears. The pain in her head still lingered, sharp and unforgiving, like the last sting of a nightmare refusing to leave her alone. She looked around, slowly realizing that she was back in her room. The familiar surroundings brought little comfort. The soft hum of the ceiling fan, the glow of the moonlight through her window, the half-empty bottle of water on her nightstand—it was all the same. And yet… everything felt different.“What was that?” Rhea whispered to herself, brushing damp strands of hair from her forehead. It had been a long time since she’d had a dream like that—if she could even call it a dream. No… it felt real. Too vivid, too intense, too terrifying to be just a figment of her imagination. The dea

Chapter Thirty: Rhea did exactly as she was told. After taking a warm bath, she gently reapplied the cream on her bruises. It soothed her irritated skin and made her feel less itchy and uncomfortable. The pain she had endured was slowly dulling, replaced by a growing sense of calm. She slipped into a light, oversized mini dress that hung loosely over her figure, and tied her hair into a ponytail.Once dressed, she walked into the living room and sat down to eat the food Aaron had brought from the restaurant earlier. The meal, though simple, tasted better than anything she had eaten in days. It brought a warmth to her stomach that momentarily silenced the lingering unease in her chest. After she finished eating, Rhea returned to her room, her body aching with exhaustion. It had been an emotionally and physically draining day. As soon as her head hit the pillow, her eyelids grew heavy, and she drifted into a deep sleep. But her slumber was far from peaceful.Rhea’s eyes fluttered open.

Chapter Twenty-NineA woman walked into a tall, isolated building nestled deep in a forest. The trees outside were lifeless, their twisted branches like claws reaching toward the gray sky. The air felt stiff, dead, even. This was not a place where life thrived. It was a place of shadows, of silence, of wicked intentions and unholy chaos. She wore a long hooded cloak that concealed her face and form, the fabric whispering across the cold marble floor as she entered a large, dimly lit café-like room within the building. Her heels clicked softly, echoing in the stillness. She paused in the center of the room."Do you always have to hide in the dark?" she asked with a teasing smile as she flipped on the light switch. The soft yellow glow revealed a man seated comfortably on a black velvet sofa, a glass of red wine in hand. His legs were crossed, one arm slung lazily over the back of the sofa. His dark eyes sparkled with amusement as he turned to face her."How was your tour of the outside

She leaned forward to take a nice whiff, smiling to herself—until she suddenly felt the tickle of a sneeze. She turned away quickly and let out a soft “achoo,” trying to keep it as discreet as possible. She rubbed her nose lightly, hoping it would end there, but the tickling sensation returned, stronger this time. Her eyes began to water slightly, and she blinked rapidly to stop the tears from spilling. Her body began to feel hot, uncomfortable, and itchy in certain spots.Trying to remain composed, Rhea focused on calming her breathing just as the waiter arrived with their order.“Please enjoy,” the waiter said, placing the food in front of them with a warm smile. “If there’s any issue, you can ring the little bell on the table.

Everything was so quiet, and eventually, Rhea found herself growing bored and restless. She laid her head down on her desk for just a moment, hoping a short rest would help pass the time. But before she knew it, she had fallen asleep. She woke up with a jolt at exactly 5:00 p.m. Sharp.Yawning softly, she stretched to shake off the remaining sleepiness. With quick hands, she began arranging her desk, smoothing out papers and shutting down her computer. The silence still lingered, which made her assume that most employees had already gone home for the day.Deciding to check in with Kieran before leaving, she walked up to his office.
