Bella’s POV

I stared up at the wall clock, heaving out a deep breath for the umpteenth time, it was getting late already and he was not back yet, could it be things went wrong? I know I shouldn’t be bothered about this, he isn’t a weak one that could easily to defeated or killed, but I couldn’t help it at all.

…what if this was a trap and they might be planning something really bad?

I placed my palm on my face breathing into it. I hope he’s fine or I might just have to go find him. I stood up immediately I heard cars driving into the pack house and hurried out of the room, and down the stairs. I rushed out of the pack house just in time to see him step down from the car.

“Damien!” I called, running up to him, suddenly wishing I could read my unasked questions. “How did I go?” I asked, looking up into his eyes, hoping to find answers. He did not reply but stared back at me for a few seconds before walking away, toward the house.

Did something go wrong? I stared around in confusion

An hour later, I stood at the border of the pack I once lived in, leaning down on my knees, panting heavily. I stayed there for about five minutes, waiting to catch my breath before heading into the pack. Thankfully there were no guards at the border, well that was quite strange and a bit risky for them though. I found my way into the familiar streets, heading to my father's house. Nothing changed since I left, just the same quiet place. I ignored the stares of the passers-by, who recognized me, and kept my head up high. In a few minutes, I was standing on the porch of the house I once called home. I pressed my lips together, trying to suppress the emotional feeling rising in me. I took a step to the door and placed a knock on it moving back. I heard footsteps approaching before the door went open and Rowena, my step-sister, stood by the door staring up at me in shock. "What are you doing here?" She asked, pushing all expressions on her face away, probably trying to pretend she wasn't

The first place I rushed to immediately after regaining consciousness was Bella’s room and just like I expected she was out of sight. “Dang it!” I slammed my fist on the wall, cussing angrily. How could I have expected she was going to drug me, just to make sure I don't interfere with her plans? Her never working plans, she doesn’t know these people as I do, once an alpha makes up his mind it doesn’t change. But she’ll never listen!“You can’t be sure though.” I hissed out annoyingly when Dean spoke. Was there any need to doubt? I hate it when she acts unnecessarily stubborn, and now I am the one to get so worried. I tried to reach her through the mind link but it wasn’t going through, it was either she was deliberately ignoring me or she was unconscious, in the hands of those people.Hurriedly, I left the room heading downstairs in search of Linda, if they worked together she must definitely be around the pack house. I headed to the kitchen when I heard voices coming from there, she

It took about an hour before Damien finally returns to the room, he goes straight to the table, picks up a key and walks over to me, undoing the handcuffs. I flexed my arms immediately, rubbing my palm over my wrists as the numbness began to disappear very slowly. There were red marks around my wrists, probably from pulling my hands too much trying to release myself.Damien crouched down before me, kneeling on one knee and gently held my right hand, massaging the wrists carefully. He was being affectionate even though he was the one who caused it, I looked away feeling slightly annoyed."You mad at me?" He asked with a glance at me, before looking back at my wrist. I don't reply, taking my gaze around the room, looking for something else to focus on and not his face. When I didn't reply, he moved on to my left wrist repeating the process again. "You made me do that, you know?""You did not have to cuff me to the bed. It's disrespectful." His eyes widened when I replied but he shrugged

"Are you being serious?" It took a lot to stop myself from bursting into tears right on that spot."Yeah, you still I'd be lying." I wrapped my arms around him immediately, burying my face into his chest. Tears fell from my eyes uncontrollably but I dared not look up not wanting the women to see me crying. "Hey, it's fine," Damien spoke soothingly, rubbing small circles around my back. A few minutes later I sniffed finally engaging from the hug and cleaned the tears off my face before turning around to face the two women."It's nice meeting you too," I say to them, keeping a warm smile on my face."Hey, I have to go now. Lots of important duties are waiting for me." Damien whispered very close in my ears."Sure, see you later." He planned a small kiss on my lips before walking out of the packhouse."So, Luna, we have a lot of-""You can just call me Bella." I cut the blonde-haired woman off, with a smile on my face. Maybe that was something I'd never get used to. Calling me Luna? Sou

A few minutes after the coronation, Damien introduced me to a few very important guests whom I already forgot all their names, not like I’d see every day to have a chit-chat with though. As soon as he was done, I left him, walking through the crowds, and responding to a few greetings. There was something very important I’d been wishing to do and this was just the right time, the right time to put some people in their places. I walked into the foyer, heading to the kitchen where I guessed she’d definitely be. Just like I expected she was standing in the kitchen, munching on a piece of chicken while some maids stood beside her, their faces scrunched in disgust.“Nina.” She flinched when I called, stepping into the big kitchen. She cleaned her lips with a towel before focusing all her attention on me, though a big scowl on her face, as usual.“Bella, what do you want?” It's surprising she still doesn’t show any respect towards me, even after knowing I’d be her Luna and could make her dis

“Oh, our dear Luna.” We both stopped when a woman in a black dress stood before us as soon as we walked into the yard, holding hands with whom I assumed was her mate. “Hi,” I spoke gently, flashing her a small smile that disappeared almost immediately when something clicked in my head. “Oh dear, I know Damien hadn’t told you about us yet, he’s very forgetful sometimes.” She burst out laughing while I just watched, trying as much as possible to keep up with the conversation which I was not even a bit interested in. “I’m Myra, and this is my mate, David, alpha of the River Pack. Our pack is many miles away from here but we couldn’t miss the big show, not at all. Damien finally getting his mate and accepting her, after months of being a jerk, is a blessing to us.” A frown morphed when I recognized her. The woman among the guests at Lavender’s ceremony, the one brave enough to stop me and spit trash into my face. What a two-faced bitch! “Well, it’s nice having you here and I just have

"The night my father died, was the eve of their wedding anniversary. A seventh anniversary. I did not care much though, it was their celebration not mine and then I was least interested in things like that. It was supposed to be like every normal night, sleep and wake up to the next day, same old routine. But I had this weird feeling, more like fear. I couldn't figure out why, I mean Damien never gets afraid, what could it be?" He looked down at his hands, letting out a humourless chuckle."So I decided to go meet my father, tell him about the weird situation. But what I saw that night was one I'd never forget even if I'm granted a next life. Standing by the door I watched as mother plunged the dagger into his chest repeatedly, blood spluttering on her face but she was the least worried, with an evil smile on her face I knew that was very intentional even though I tried to convince myself it was a mistake." I heaved out a shaky breath, staring into his eyes which were quite glossy. "M

I'm awakened by Damien's loud and disturbed voice. He was standing in the middle of the room, hurriedly putting on a shirt. I groaned, letting out a yawn and sat up on the bed while he spoke with someone through the mind link."What is it?" I asked, holding the duvet over my chest, realising we were in his room already. "We got an attack last night." He replied hurriedly as he sat on the bed to put on his shoes."What?" "Yes," He turned around to face me before adding. "All the victims died."I leaned back against the headboard, placing my palm over my mouth. How could that- I was utterly speechless."I have to go now." He left the room in a hurry, not even waiting to see if I had something to say or wanted to follow him. Anyways, I climbed down the bed gently, tightly holding the duvet around my chest since I was naked underneath it."Oh shit!" I cussed, stretching out my right hand in an effort to find something to hold on to when a strong wave of dizziness hit me. I grunted as I f

Eleven years laterMarilee's POVOnce again, I'm woken by the aggressive sound of my alarm ringing, I blindly reach to grab it and threw it across the room. The satisfied sound of it smashing against the wall makes me lie on the bed again, taking a deep breath."Marilee, what the hell was that?" I heard dad say as he walked into the room. "Marilee, that's the eighth alarm in just two weeks!" I don't reply to him but bury my face into the pillow, trying to fall asleep again. "Marilee!" Dad yelled again, pulling the duvet off my body. "That's it! Get up, you're going to be late for school!""Can I get just ten more minutes?" I mumbled, curling myself into a ball."No, get up now." He held my arm, pulling me from the bed. "Geez, you'll be sixteen in a few weeks do I have to keep doing this?""If only you'd let me make a choice here," I grumbled, frowning as he placed me on my feet."I hate school, yeah say that again. Marilee, you would be a future leader, you need to make the other kids

  • Fated To The Mafia Alpha   Chapter 97

Bella's POVIt's been exactly eight weeks since that ugly incident happened. Eight weeks of reconstructing the whole pack, we moved them from the woods where they had been hiding back to the pack. Most parts of the pack were destroyed, especially the packhouse, but it was a chance to change a few of the settings of the packhouse. We laid the dead to rest, using a few weeks to mourn them. It wasn't easy for Damien to get over the guilt of killing his best friend. Taylor was doing quite well now that she had her father, Helen was right. She would be the same if she were with me, she just needed someone very close to her. Heather was back with her parents Zoe and Tobias who were survivors of such long captivity. Damien has been very close to Marilee who seemed to enjoy his company more than mine. It wasn't so hard to convince her that he was her father, she could feel the bond and gave in quickly, besides she had been waiting so long for her 'daddy'. They've grown closer more than I was

I froze, feeling shivers run down my spine when he said those words. I managed to stand up, staring at Damien in shock. Those words rang in my head over and over again. What could it mean?“The stupid symbiosis experiment went wrong on them and now they aren’t what we think,” Freya answered my question and I shook my head trying not to believe it. I did not want to feel hopeless, not after coming this far.“ But there could be something, to save him right? Like an antidote?” I asked, rubbing my palm on my pants.“You really think those scientists make an antidote for all of their mistakes? Do you think they ever fix them? Snap out of this Bella, we have to find a way to bring him back ourselves.” I pressed my lips tight, trying to shove back the cry threatening to escape my lips."Okay." I sniffed, taking in several deep breaths. From the corner of my eyes, I saw the others take several steps back after sighting Damien. He stopped in front of the cell, looked to the side to stare at t

I lunged at the guard closest to me, grabbed him by his neck, and twisted in the wrong direction; I heard a snap and his body went limp. Weak humans! I used his body as a shield for a few seconds as the other guards opened fire and as shooting wildly at me. Knowing it wasn’t going to last and dropped him and moved with speed to dodge those bullets, but I was shocked the most when it seemed the whole world stopped, I could see the bullets in the air, moving very slowly while I just stood watching. What the hell is happening? I looked down at my body to see those magical flames around me; it was on every part of my body, looking so soft. I guess this was what Helen meant by being gifted by the goddess with special powers. I felt really strong and it was like my fingertips were filled with electricity. Well, let’s put this to good use. I held the bullets and the air and threw them back to the men, then everything turned back to normal and they fell to the ground dead. They must’ve called

I tried to push all nervousness and doubts aside as I stood before the huge abandoned-looking laboratory. I see they did a pretty good job hiding from the authorities and the government. I walked around the building, tucking my hands into my coat's pockets. I was dressed in black shirt, black pants and brown coat with white sneakers, comfortable enough for me to run when I sighted the camera. I stopped, immediately I saw the first camera, moving closer to stare up at it. My lips curved into a smile when I saw the red tiny light and without waiting another second, I turned around, walking away in hurried footsteps. As soon as I was out of sight, I took to my heels, hidiny between tall buildings in the area."I'm done." I said, speaking through the mind link to Noah. "We're watching the cameras, just stay where you are till we see the results." "Okay," This was our plan, quite crazy though. Noah suggested we let the hunters come for us, that way we'd be better prepared. They would def

Returning to the Library, Helen insisted I take some rest and continue with the plan later. Knowing she was right and I was feeling quite weak already, I did as she said, retiring to bed since it was late evening already. She gave me a room that consisted of just a middle-sized bed and a small table at the corner of the room and a wardrobe of course; thankfully it had a bathroom in it. So I took a shower, changed into my nightwear, and decided to take some rest. I clenched my fists, biting back a growl when I heard a knock on the door. Shit! I was just a few seconds away from drifting into sleep. Pushing the door I did not expect to see Jane standing outside, clutching a pillow to her chest. “Can I sleep with you tonight?” She asked in a timid voice, pressing her lips innocently. “Just for tonight.” She added, rushing her words. “Jane?” I tried to hide the smile forming on my lips, turning my face to the side. “I’m fucking thirty, not a fourteen, sixteen years old kid.” I rolled my

Few minutes later we walked out of the room after trying off our tears with a profound determination, my brows raised in confusion when we sighted the rest of the workers including Helen all laughing as Marilee stood before them.“Mom.” She ran towards me immediately after she noticed my presence.“What is going on?”“Mom, I was telling uncle Alexei that my name was marry me.” She spoke, staring up at me with an innocent smile.“What?” I chuckled in amusement, moving to sit at the table where they all sat.“Yes, I told him marry me!” She repeated, rolling her eyes.“You know that’s not your name, don’t you?”“I actually wasn’t telling him my name,” She crossed her arms behind her, stretching her lips into a plain smile. “I was telling him to marry me, he just didn’t get it.”“Whattt?” Alexei shrieked, bursting into another fit of laughter.“Okay, that’s enough Mari, you don’t go around telling people to marry you,” I spoke, pushing all playfulness away.“Oh, and you did not also get t

I looked back at Helen with shock all over my face, completely awed at the revealed. "How could you? I mean all this while?""I thought you might've felt it," Helen replied with a shrug of her shoulders."I always felt it, but I ignored it, I thought it was just you." Helen chuckled as I kept glancing between her and the workers. "You know the first thing you should learn now is not to ignore every weird sign you see or feel. It's could mean a lot more." I nodded, understanding her point. If I'm going into a big fight now, even the littlest details or suspicion mean a lot."So, do you guys have a secret pack here also?""No, no. They're just...""We're rogues." The first guy spoke, cutting Helen off. "I'm Alexei." He stretched out his hands for a shake which I accepted immediately. "Bella," I said with a smile on my face."We all know your name already." They all burst out laughing, making me feel hysterically stupid."Silly me." I chuckled, scratching my head in embarrassment."Let

I closed my eyes and leaned back into the seat when the announcement of the preparation for the landing boomed from the speaker. Five years and I'm back in Russia, only this time around, I feel like a coward for running in the first place. The kids were quite excited for different reasons though, Marilee was happy she was going on a plane for the first time, and Taylor was happy she was away from school for a while. Heather showed no form of excitement, just staring outside the window before she asked the question that made my heart clench. "Are we going back to the pack now?" Her small tiny innocent voice came through. "No, baby. Not yet." I replied, hiding my emotions with a smile on my face. "I do not like Australia." She heaved out a tired sigh, shaking her head. I knew right from the start she never liked it, but chose not to complain about it. "We'd talk about that later baby." I planted a small kiss on her forehead, wrapping my right arm around her shoulders, and pulling her
