I've mingled with humans well enough to know human blood when I smelt it.

My brows furrowed as I looked around, trying to find the source of the blood. Eventually, that took my gaze to a corner of the room where there was a small pool of blood.

Hesitant, I glanced at Nimue's bed but then sighed in relief when I saw her sleeping soundly, the thick dark blue bed sheet covering her body up to her face.

"Jin, what the fuck did you do?" I muttered to myself as I took calculated slow steps toward the small pool of blood to avoid waking Nimue.

However, I paused in my tracks when I heard her grunting in her sleep. I glanced back, my eyes fixed on her body under the bed sheet.

She seemed... Different.

Suddenly, I was torn between going up to Nimue's bed and getting a closer look at her or going closer to the small pool of blood to investigate.

Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to think of that when I heard a movement on the balcony, followed by the annoying scent of a cologne I recog

The next morning, I woke up and immediately went to have a quick bath. Today was Saturday and we weren't going to school. However, the thought that Nimue, Lucille, Jin, and I were in the same house right now was deliciously unnerving. The amount of drama that could unfold at any moment played repeatedly in my mind, almost making me forget about all I witnessed last night. But not completely, especially since I had a nagging wolf to remind me of it."Did something seem odd about Nimue when we went to her room yesterday, or was it just me?" Scratch suddenly asked when I walked out of the bathroom with a towel draped around my body.I paused, contemplating what he was referring to. "In what way, buddy?" I asked. He drawled. "I don't know how to explain it, but she just seemed... Different. And the fact that her entire body was covered until we left there is also unsettling."To be honest, I'd noticed exactly what Scratch was talking about. At one point, last night, I could've sworn I he

Nimue~~As soon as I revealed the keys to Alpha Viktor's study room in my palm, I got up from the chair where the kind maid had left me and snuck out of the room. "I can't believe we're going through with this," Luna grumbled inside my head as soon as I got to the door to the study room and placed the key in the lock.I ignored her, biting my lips until I successfully opened the door. I couldn't help smirking. "Well, you better believe it now, Luna girl," I muttered, opening my mouth in awe of the vast study room after stepping in.There were shelves with tons of books, several of which I was very sure no one had opened in years. The place had a faint smell of liquor and cigarettes, an imprint of the Alpha's habits. Hastily, I went to a table that seemed to be where the Alpha kept his important documents. The place was meticulously cleaned and organized, making it easier to search for what I wanted.Or so I thought..."Gosh, how hard is it to find something incriminating from the

I quickly withdrew my hand from Kieran's grip, rolling my eyes to mask the sudden discomfort I felt."Be for real, dude," I muttered, walking past him to his father's table."But I am being for real." He drawled slyly behind me, forcing me to glance back to meet his mischievous smirk.Alright, calm down Nimue. You can do this, just find something against Alpha Viktor and get the heck out of here. Shouldn't be too hard, right?Meanwhile, Luna was howling excitedly inside me. "Oh my gosh, he kissed you on the hand!" She shrieked, basically doing backflips in my body until I was certain she could pop out any minute. "And then he promised to do more than that. And he was so polite about it too."For the first time since we stepped into this study, Umbra spoke up with a scoff. "Pfft... Please. What was polite about that? It was pretty cringe if you ask me."However, Luna shot back without holding back. "Oh, look who's finally talking again after last night. Are you jealous that Kieran is t

Kieran finally tore his gaze away from me and was about to place his hand into the open cabinet when I grabbed his wrist. His brows furrowed as he slowly turned his head to me. "Yes? What's wrong now?" He asked.I blinked erratically, struggling to say something that had been eating me up for a while. Eventually, I sighed and spoke up. "How is it so easy for you to ignore... To ignore the mate bond?" I queried. He arched an eyebrow, leaving me in suspense. Crap, now I was regretting asking him that. Maybe if I–"I don't know, Nimue, you tell me." He suddenly uttered casually. "I was about to ask you the same thing. How do you go around frolicking with every male in school while ignoring the fact that we're fated? I mean, you even managed to get Jin interested in you."Frolicking? With every male in the...?I let go of his wrist just then, snarling. "Why do you always do that?"He seemed confused now. "You're not making any sense. Why do I always do what?" He asked.I threw my hands i

  • Fated To My Cruel Step-Brother and His Enemy   We’re Step Siblings!

(Warning: Slightly Mature Content ahead. Not Explicit)My heart sank the second those words came out of Kieran's mouth. His Mom is... Dead?I mean, I'd assumed that the original Luna of this pack had separated with Alpha Viktor or something. Who wouldn't?... The guy was a walking red flag. But dead?"I– I don't know what to say," I muttered, speechless. I raised my head to meet the despondent look flickering in Kieran's eyes. He seemed oddly calm for someone who just discovered something so shocking and heartbreaking.Eventually, after a while, he shook his head, a scowl appearing on his face. "That manipulative bastard." He scoffed, tilting his head away from me.My brows snapped into a frown. Was he referring to his Dad, or...?Struggling to find the right words, I finally spoke up. "Kieran, I know this... This probably doesn't mean a lot, but you can talk to me." I said, hesitantly placing my hand on his back. However, I almost regretted it when he whipped his head back, snarling w

  • Fated To My Cruel Step-Brother and His Enemy   Don’t Make This Difficult

It had all happened so fast. One second, Kieran was talking about his mother and how he just found out she died, and the next, he made a move on me and kissed me. Moon goddess, have mercy; we'd almost done more than kissing if I hadn't found the boldness to stop him."But why?" Luna groaned inside my head. "Things were going smoothly. Don't you want to get a taste of that big throbbing monster?" My face heated up with a blush. Argh, Luna was such a horny pervert!Meanwhile, my Umbra wolf wasn't bothered at all by my interaction with Kieran but rather about our safety. "If you've forgotten, Nimue, this isn't your local library but the Alpha's private study. We have to get out of here now. We'll analyze your boy problems later." He remarked.I couldn't agree more. Without another word, I scurried out of the study as quickly as possible. I paused briefly at the door, listening attentively to make sure there was no one in the hallway. Luckily for me, the maid, Lauren, hadn't returned

I gulped, hesitating to speak especially with the way my mother was looking at us. She glanced suspiciously at Jin who just stood there with a stoic expression, scrutinizing me as if he was anticipating my next response. Eventually, I chuckled nervously and spoke. "Mom. I haven't forgotten about our arrangement to hang out today. Mr. Kisaragi here..." I paused, flinching when I saw Jin arch an eyebrow when I addressed him formally. I couldn't address him by his first name while Mom was here. That'll make her even more suspicious and I probably wouldn't hear the end of it since she'd try prying to get more information out of me. Anyway, I continued, ignoring the expression on Jin's face. "... Mr. Kisaragi was just here to talk about school." I smiled, cursing myself mentally for that weak ass lie. Meanwhile, Umbra sniggered inside my head. "Yeah, your Mom is not buying that." Luna added as well. "You should've just told her the truth that Jin is being a creep. She's the Luna of th

The next week on a Monday, I reluctantly followed Bruno and Kieran to school. There was still an awkward atmosphere between us after our heated moment in his father's study. I tried several times to think of a way to address the issue, but nothing came to mind. Ugh, could he just quit being a dick for one second and talk things out like an adult? "What's stopping you from doing the same thing?" Luna suddenly grumbled inside my head when we drove into the campus. I chided her. 'Shush, Luna! The situation is more complex than you realize.' She scoffed, persisting with her grumbling. "What's so complicated about it? He kissed you and you kissed him back, hence hinting at the fact that you two like each other. Heck, you're so stupidly in love without realizing it." My eyes fluttered in surprise but I didn't have the time to respond to her words when Bruno parked in the pickup zone. Without saying anything, Kieran stepped out of the car, grasping his backpack tightly. I watch

A MONTH LATER.."Ugh, at this point I'm beginning to think the object for breaking the curse is back at RavenWood." I groaned while playing around with my cup of coffee.Sitting across at the other side of the table was Kieran, who wore a black hat that kept his face hidden. He also had a steamy cup of coffee in his hands, merely giving me a nod as he gazed around our surroundings warily. We were back in the city where his pack was located, specifically at an open cafe close to Pure Blood College. Unlike what one might think, we weren't here to make any inquiries about school or anything like that. Nope, we were here to meet up with some old ‘friends’, but the catch was that Kieran and I had to keep ourselves hidden. There was still a chance that the Alpha Council would be after us even though they hadn't made a move since we first escaped the city more than a month ago. Anyway, I stared at Kieran for a while before I rolled my eyes. "Can you relax? I doubt your Dad or those ol

  • Fated To My Cruel Step-Brother and His Enemy   Hope For a Cure

Sadly, I was still in my male form, unlike what I'd originally expected. As heartwarming as it was that Kieran was able to hold me close even in my male form, my eyes stung with hot tears. I'm so stupid! Why had I been half expecting the ritual from the witches to somehow rid me of the curse? They clearly stated that the ritual was only meant to gauge the inner workings of the curse so they could come up with a possible solution for removing the curse without stripping me of my Umbra wolf. "I'm still a man, Kieran." I sobbed, clutching his arms tightly for support. Meanwhile, my father walked up to me, placing a hand on my shoulder briefly. But he didn't linger for long and proceeded to meet with the witches. Just then, Kieran snapped at Theodora. "I thought you said this ritual wasn't going to hurt her? Why, then, was she in pain during the process? What voodoo did you use on her?!"Somehow, hearing Kieran defending me so vehemently against the witches felt comforting, but I w

  • Fated To My Cruel Step-Brother and His Enemy   Consulting The Witches

After a few minute's drive in Marcel's car, we arrived at an isolated part of the city, which seemed eerily darker than other parts. We stepped down from the car, my father slamming the driver's seat door behind him before he explained. "Most human cities have a certain amount of supernaturals among their populace. This city, in particular, has numerous vampires and witches but only a few small werewolf packs."My eyes shone in surprise as I turned my gaze to my father. I was once again shocked and impressed by the amount of information he could get at a whim. Anyway, Kieran placed himself beside me, grabbing my left hand which was already getting sweaty. He glanced at me, giving me a reassuring smile as if he could feel my anxiety through our mate bond. "I'm with you every step of the way, okay?" He reminded me, caressing my hand affectionately. My heart melted at how much affection he was showing me even though I was currently in my male form. I knew how weird it was for him an

Nimue~~Long story short, the dinner wasn't... Exactly awful. But dearie me, it sure was dramatic. There was an awful knot in my stomach that still lingered after Marcel revealed the scar on his eye as an aftermath of my mother's betrayal of him. We didn't even have dinner long before he brought up the plan of meeting up with Theodora and her coven. Sigh... So much for a 'perfect dinner'."This dinner was bound to fail, Nimue," Umbra muttered encouragingly in my mind. "I don't even know why Marcel suggested it. He probably just wanted you to see your mother before going to the witches."Currently, Kieran and my father had taken my Mom to the airport to send her back to Alpha Viktor's territory, leaving me all alone in the house. I felt bad for her, but she knew what she was getting into when she decided to marry that man. I just hoped the Alpha council or the Alpha himself didn't do anything to hurt Mom. If not... I wouldn't mind sticking my claws into his throat.Meanwhile, Luna

  • Fated To My Cruel Step-Brother and His Enemy   Promise to Protect Her

I subconsciously glanced at Nimue, noticing the sympathy flashing through her eyes. Sympathy for her father. Everyone had tagged him as a 'crazy rogue' bent on hunting her for years, but he had depth. He had a story and his reasons. And for some reason, I felt bad for him too. Maybe because he still made an effort in trying to protect his daughter. Unlike another 'father,' I knew. Meanwhile, Marcel placed the eye patch back on the ghastly scar, drawing in a deep breath as he stared at nothing in particular. Even Ulmer was dead silent now, looking down at her legs in shame. "Well, this dinner just got awkward fast." Scratch muttered in my head, but I didn't even have the mental strength to hush him as I subconsciously held Nimue's hand from underneath the table, trying to reassure her. She shot me a weak smile before turning her gaze to her mother who still had her head lowered. "Well? Don't you have anything to say, Mom?" She asked with arched eyebrows. Ulmer's lips parted in

"For the last time, I think it looks perfect." I groaned dramatically when Nimue asked me what I thought about the house for the umpteenth time. I was already beginning to regret agreeing to let her and her parents use this house as their venue for a 'family get-together.’It was obvious Ulmer and Marcel were still bitter with each other and I had my bets on everything ending in an argument or worse. Meanwhile, Nimue, who was dressed in a lovely red dress with white floral prints, swerved her head to me while she placed the finishing touches to the dinner table. "Well, sorry if I'm feeling nervous about my parents seeing each other in the same house." She uttered sarcastically before adding. "Are you sure you gave them the right address? It's already five PM."It had been two days since we agreed to see Marcel and Ulmer. Luckily, it was the weekend so I didn't have work today. I felt it necessary to be present since I still didn't trust Marcel. Anyway, I responded to Nimue's ques

The persistent ringing of my phone caused me to place a pause on my makeout session with Nimue. However, when I brought out my phone and saw the same unknown number that Marcel had used to call me earlier, my mood changed drastically."It's your father... Again." I muttered to Nimue's hearing. Her face darkened instantly as she glanced warily at my phone before turning her gaze to me. "Well? Are you going to answer it or not?"I rolled my eyes discreetly before I picked up the call. "Hello?""Ah, Kieran. I just want to inform you that I've made contact with Ulmer and she's agreed to see me and my daughter." Marcel's deep baritone voice sounded from the other end cheerily. I still found it hard to believe that this was the same man who was involved in kidnapping his own daughter who he hadn't met since she was born. Meanwhile, Nimue's mouth opened in a stunned "O" at her father's words and I had a feeling I knew why. It was probably because her parents, who had a bitter past, were i

As soon as Marcel dropped the call, I had no choice but to rush to my office and ask to leave my post to go attend to my girlfriend, lying that she was 'sick and alone.'I mean, the alone part was real, but there was only one ‘sickness’ afflicting Nimue and that was her Dual wolf curse. And now there seemed to be hope for removing the curse's side effects. However, when I got home, Nimue and I ended up having sex for the first time in a while. On the kitchen counter, too. We were so unhinged, but it was so damn worth it. I hadn't realized how much pent-up sexual frustration I had until I got a taste of Nimue's glorious body.Anyway, I proceeded to drop the bomb of Marcel's call when we were done, but she didn't take it lightly at first. But then I decided to add the most crucial part of the conversation after telling her about his wish to see both her and her mother."He thinks he might be able to get the witches he works with to find a cure for your curse without stripping you of

  • Fated To My Cruel Step-Brother and His Enemy   Compromise

Kieran ~~ The day when Nimue and I finally escaped my father's mansion was nothing short of epic. The best part was when I finally put Jin in his place and used his diabolical wolf-repellant drug on him. I chuckled to myself each time I remembered the look on his face when he realized he was wolfless. That should be a worse punishment than death for any werewolf. And it served him right... He'd think twice before shoving his face into me and Nimue's life again. Gosh, I couldn't believe that two-faced snake dared to bargain with my father over NIMUE. Over MY mate. Anyway, escaping the city was the easy part, but settling into a new city on the other side of the country was harder than I thought. I picked this location because I wanted to be as far away from my father and all the annoying pack politics as much as possible. Also, I had a new job opportunity to chase after that would enable me to sustain my living with Nimue. "I would've never imagined ‘Kieran the ma
