Chapter 4

"It's not like you ever believe me anytime I tell you there's nothing, there's no secret to tell, I was probably born that way. It's not a crime been born pretty." Before Tessa could utter a word, Alicia stopped a cab. "To the park please." she said.

"Ten dollar." say's the cab driver. She handed him the money, they went in and he drove off. The drive there was quiet, they just listened to the music playing in the background. They got to the park and was elated. It was crowded with people playing different game's. "This is going to be fun." Tessa said with an eye roll. "Let's go get some ice cream first." Alicia responded.

"Sound good, let's go." They went to get ice cream, came back, looked for a spot and sat down, they watch as people played different game's and giggle, just looking at them makes it fun. They were looking around when they saw some kids getting on the amusement samba tower ride, they quickly gaze at each other.

"Let's join them," Tessa said with a wide grin on her face. She knew Alicia would decline because she was scared of the samba tower, but she still insisted. "Count me out, I'm scared of that shit. I don't want to die young."

"Alicia there's no harm in it, nothing is going to happen to you, all you have to do is not to look at the ground and hold me tightly." The last time she was on a samba tower, she also fell off it and ever since then her phobia for it has increase, but it wouldn't be bad to give it a try, she thought. "Okay, let's do this."

They paid for their tickets and took a sit alongside other's. "Are you all ready?" the park attendant asked.

"Yes," they all chorused.

Before Alicia could say one more word they were already in the air, going up down, up down. Tessa tighten her grip on her while she just had fun. Alicia was freaking out, she kept shouting and chatting profanities. Tessa couldn't stop laughing at her, some minutes later the samba tower stopped. Some came off happy, crying, and other's breathing heavily. Alicia lay on the ground trying to catch her breath. "That was really fun, let's do this whenever we are free, what do you think Alicia?

"In your wildest dream. I almost died out there and here you are suggesting we do it again." Tessa bursted out laughing, who would believe the feisty Alicia is still scared of the samba tower. "Hey what about we get on that sixteen seat luxury?" Tessa asked.

"That's even much better." They strode towards the direction, paid for their tickets and took a seat each, It started moving slowly, and then faster. They cheer out loud and laughed at their childish behavior. It went on and on for fifteen minutes and finally stopped, they came off it with so much joy plastered on their faces.

"This is really fun, it was a good idea coming to the park," Tessa said. "It is, i would love to come back some other time," Alicia responded.

"Sure we'll. Let's go get something to drink. I'm tasty." Tessa said. They bought some apple juice and looked for a spot to sit down. After resting, they went for sightseeing, and even feed the giraffe's.

"It's getting late, let's go home, You know it's two hours ride back home, and it's already six thirty pm." Alicia said.

"Gosh, i would love to continue the sightseeing, but let's just go home, we can always come back." Tessa responded.

"Yes we can always come back." They exited the park and took a ride back home.

Alicia got home late at night, she went into the house, there was no lights on. She turned on her phone's light, suddenly she saw a shadow and got startled, her phone fell on the floor.

"Who's there?"

"Calm down Alicia. it's me." Mrs Kate responded. She sigh and picked up her phone. "Mum you scared me."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, I was sleepy while waiting for you, so I turned off the light. I'm sorry, She apologized. "I'm sorry for keeping you up," Alicia apologized.

"It's okay. Go freshen up, your food is in the kitchen, I'm going upstairs to sleep."

"Goodnight mum." Alicia hugged her and went up to her room. She freshed up and went back downstairs to eat, she ate dinner and went back upstairs. She was about going into her room when she heard some noise, it was coming from her parents room.

"Is mum and dad still awake? she asked no one in particular. what is so important that they had to discuss now?" She went close to the doorknob, heard her mum talking in a low tone, she leaned in and listened to their conversation.

"What are we going to do about the nightmares now, i can't sleep knowing you are still awake, it breaks my heart. I'm scared something might happen to you, why did you have to be there twenty years back, if you had listened to me, you wouldn't have been in this predicament," Mrs Kate said.

"I didn't listen to you that's why I'm in this mess but if I had listened to you, something else might have happened still getting me involved, maybe it could have been worst than this. I can't run from my fate. l'm going to be fine, nothing will happen to me, just go to bed and sleep, it's already late," Mr Anderson responded.

Alicia went back to her room with lots of questions going through her mind. "What is wrong with dad? what happened twenty years back? is it something they should let her know? What nightmares are they talking about?"

She kept rolling on her bed, hoping she could get a clue but nothing came up, she wanted to find answers to her question's, but she couldn't help it, then she fell asleep.

Waking up like always, Alicia cleaned herself up, had breakfast and decided to get her stuff ready for the semester.

Bing!! Bing!! Her phone rang and she quickly picked up.

"Hey Tessa, what'sup with you?"

"I'm fine Alicia, just checking up on you."

"That's so sweet of you, you know you can't do without me." Alicia said grinning.

"Jeez! Here we go again. Are you ready for tomorrow? I'm a bit nervous." Tessa said.

Alicia heave a sigh. "Just calm down, you have me and I have you, stop being nervous." Alicia replied.

"Okay, mum is going to visit an old friend should I accompany her and stop by your house?"

"No Tessa stay at home we got school to attend tomorrow, and we need to prepare for the exhibition."

"Alright." She said and they hung up.

Alicia returned to what she was doing, after packing, she decided to watch some movies on n*****x to pass the day.

She plug her laptop, put it on and selected a movie titled "Raya and the last dragon."
