Chapter Thirty-Nine

Alpha Davon's POV

"Thank you,' I said to Raymond as he walked me back to my room, helping me carry my sword and armour.

He opened my door and I walked inside while he followed me behind. I walked straight to my bed and sat while he made his way to my wardrobe, placing what he carried on the floor, just in front of the wardrobe before turning to leave.

"Are you certain that all the men were taken care of?" I asked him, just to make sure that no one survived the slaughter.

"Yes, my Alpha. We chased them until they were all gone. However, there's always a chance that we might have missed one or two people who might have found a way to sneak out as we pursued, but of all that we were able to find, we left none alive."

I was pleased but not as pleased as I'd have loved to be. If there was ever a chance that one or more of our enemies had escaped, there was always that possibility that they'll harbour thoughts of revenge toward us. In any case, we were going to b

Chapter Forty Elsa's POV It was only three days left before Alpha Davon would get married to Princess Alina. All the talk about the war had slowly died down as peace thrived once more in the Pack. It was highly expected after how the other two Packs were dispatched. They weren't even able to move past the Pack borders despite their numbers and that was something that would strike fear in the heart of anyone at all, even the Alphas of the other Packs. The possibility of him getting married after a few days would have made the fear grow even further. The strongest Pack in the realm was about to have a Luna Queen. It was an interesting time in the Pack. Invitations had been sent out to the different Packs. Abigail had to send invitations to two Packs even though it wasn't her job. Those Packs were said to be more welcoming to women and since she always loved to talk as boldly as she loved to, she was given the task by Prince Murray. She did it without any hassles, just as I expecte

Chapter Forty-One Alpha Davon's POV It had been over two hours since I asked for Elsa to come find me in my chambers but she was nowhere to be found. I usually wasn't used to being kept waiting by anyone, much less my subjects and I didn't appreciate it from her either. "Raymond!" I screamed, using my mind link as I knew he was nowhere close to my chambers. It was one of those moments when I loved using the mind link even if I wasn't so fond of it. "Go get me Elsa immediately. Make sure she comes with you." I had tried to discard the thought about calling out to Elsa several times but I just couldn't stop myself anymore. Troy, too, wasn't being so helpful. He kept making noise about how I was supposed to give Elsa a chance instead of just discarding her. "I think she's right about being your mate," he even dared to say. "I mean, I can feel her when she's close. I can feel her wd too, trying to reach out to me. Although it's less frequent these days I think it's just because they'

Chapter Forty-Two Prince Murray's POV Mandy smirked whilst staring at me. She said nothing at first, instead, running her eyes all around me before winking at me. Then, she began to run her hands on my chest. "You know, sometimes, things are better experienced than spoken about and we do have some unfinished business, don't we?" I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me what was going on. I knew exactly what she was talking about and I was quite ready for it; more than ready even. She leaned in and kissed me briefly, drawing backwards a bit to check my reaction to that. I licked my lips. Those lips of hers were too sweet. I pulled her close once again and kissed her once more, this time very deeply as I breathed into her mouth without caring, savouring every moment. She pushed me to the bed once again and kept on kissing me and then she began to take off her clothes in a hurry. I tried to help her but she hit my hands off, not needing any of that. She was back to her very aggress

Chapter Forty-Three Alpha Davon's POV I couldn't believe my eyes as I opened the door to Murray's room. I could have just knocked but I had this habit of walking into his room just like that. It was always fun. I just never expected to see something like that. "What's going on here?" I asked as I saw Princess Alina's maid, Mandy, on his bed with both of them sweating profusely. They just finished having sex. It was so glaring and there was no denying it. I couldn't understand why he'd bed the maid, especially since she wasn't from our Pack and was only here because of the Princess. "Greetings, Al–Alpha Davon," she stuttered, surprised to see me, which was normal. "Get out!" I yelled at her, as she quickly jumped out of bed and began to walk away from the room in a hurry. I didn't even care how my brother would feel about me sending his guest away from his room but I didn't care. We had other important things to talk about and I wasn't particularly happy with what I saw. P

Chapter Forty-Four Prince Murray's POV The day of the wedding drew even closer and there was still no sign of Stam, my best friend, whom I had been expecting for quite a while. He was supposed to go handle a few things and the time that I needed those things was fast approaching, yet he was nowhere to be found. As I made my way back to the room from the kitchen, after checking in on the maids and cooks, I recalled what happened the previous day and it sent chills down my spine. I knew that my brother liked Elsa. I knew just how much he liked her, even more than he liked the woman he was about to get married to. It was the reason why I went to Elsa in the first place. "What if he reveals what he saw in my room to her?" I asked myself on getting to my door. "It'll surely ruin everything." I walked into my room and shut the door. Then I walked inside, stopping just in front of the window so that I could look outside as I thought about what to do next. I wondered if it was going

Chapter Forty-Five Elsa's POV "Has Prince Murray said anything to you yet?" Aby asked, with a cheeky smile on her face. "I don't know what you're talking about. Anything about what exactly?" "Don't be silly, Elsa. You know what I'm talking about. Has he asked you to be with him or anything like that? Even though he's a Prince, it's also possible that he's just shy. He might not have the confidence to say something like that to a very beautiful damsel like you but for sure, he should have made a move somehow. Maybe by the way he'll act towards you and just through any other hint that he could give. Have you not noticed any of that?" I just shook my head and continued cutting the onion which was in front of me. Aby was always relentless. She seemed more interested in Prince Murray's likeness of me than even me. She tugged on my dress a few times, trying to get my attention but I was having none of it. I wasn't even comfortable talking about Prince Murray in the presence of the oth

Chapter Forty-Six Alpha Davon's POV "What's going on here?" I asked, holding onto Princess Alina's hand as she tried to hit Elsa. Earlier on, I lay on my bed, about to have a little nap when I felt something burning in my chest. The more I tried to fight it off, the stronger it was and the pain was a lot. I wondered what it could have been because I had never experienced something like that. It was a whole new feeling and I was alright not so long ago. I decided to find out what the issue was and so I got up from the bed, put on my footwear and away I went out of the room and into the hallway, not knowing where exactly to go. I just knew something was wrong. I remembered what my dad always said to me when he was still alive. "Trust your instincts. Follow your guts. Let your heart guide you," he'd always say to me and it was a principle that he always followed. I decided to try it out so I just walked in the direction that I felt that I needed to, hoping to find some form of a c

Chapter Forty-Seven Princess Alina's POV I couldn't believe what I just heard from Alpha Lucius so I drew close to him, just to make sure that I heard correctly. Everywhere was silent. All the cooks in the kitchen and the maids that cleaned up the place went mute, all staring at us with their mouths agape. They were as surprised as I was and I was certain that Elsa and her useless talkative friend were having the time of their lives. "You don't mean it, do you?" I asked, hoping it was just a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing. You know, something like an angry outburst of sorts, but his silence proved otherwise. "You can't possibly be saying we can't go ahead with our wedding because– because of this girl. Come on, Davon. What has come over you?" He shook his head and brushed past me with his shoulders, making his way down to his room as I followed him immediately. "Please, don't follow me. I'm not changing my mind about this," he said to me as he continued walking but that w

"Why won't you let me fulfil my destiny? You know that you can't beat me, right?""You think so?" I raised my right brow."I didn't think that you'd be here, Elsa. I felt you'd be inside with your child in your belly or your arms," he explained. "I have not stopped loving you and I'd hate to kill you. Step away or you'll leave me no choice but to take your life.""You can try," I chuckled, gripping my knife very strongly. "I taught you everything you know, Elsa. Without me, you'd have been nothing," he reminded me. "Now, I didn't teach you everything I know. Just the ones I felt you should. I'll teach you now. I'll make you learn by experience. Some things are better learned that way."H

"He's being cleaned up by the maids."I stared at the ceiling feeling so exhausted. The pain that I felt and the energy I had to muster during my baby's childbirth had begun to take a huge toll on me. "Did you just say, 'He?'" I asked, as it suddenly struck me that she was referring to my child as a boy."Yes, my Queen. It's a baby boy and he looks so handsome," she gushed."Oh. Here he is," she said as one of the maids walked to my bed with my child in her hands.I managed to sit up with my back pressed against the wall for support and the maid handed my baby over to me. He was beautiful; so beautiful that I felt a few tears drop from my eyes as I stared at him. He had blue eyes, just like his father and he took my hair. My boy was a blondie. I bent and kissed him on the forehead, very happy to have him.

Chapter Hundred And SixMurray's POV"Hold," I screamed at my men as we got very close to the borders of the Stronghold Pack. I had sent three of our men to head over to the borders to find out what was going on and they were yet to return. So, I felt the need to hold on until they did, instead of rushing in blindly. I paused to look at the army that I had with me. I had managed to convince two other Rogue Kings to join us with their warriors in our quest to take Davon out. It wasn't that easy as they didn't trust me at first. Just like Alpha Grim, they thought that I had come to lead them to their demise and if Alpha Grim didn't intervene, they'd never have joined us. They weren't that large but with more than 15 carriages full of our combined warriors, I had no doubts that we were going to overwhelm them with ease. I also believed that the Rogues and I were the perfect match. I had trained the Rogues in my Pack for several months and I knew they were ready. But more than that, t

Chapter Hundred and FiveAlpha Davon's POV"The men from the Runway Pack have arrived, Alpha," one of the guards said to me as he rushed into the throne room. "Is Alpha Duncan with them?" I asked the guard but he just gawked at me, looking very clueless. "I'm sorry, I didn't look, " he confessed. "I just ran here as soon as I saw their carriage approaching the borders.""Thank you."I stood, headed out of the throne room and began to make my way to the borders. I wanted to welcome Alpha Duncan myself. I felt it would mean a lot to him if I did that, and encourage his people to give their all in the fight.I was a few metres away from the Pack Square when I saw them approaching. They were massive; even more than I had expected them to be. I tried to count but stopped when I was at ten carriages, only because they had gotten to where I stood and came to a halt. So I had to give my attention to the Alpha King who was making his way out of his carriage to meet up with me. "Greetings,

Two other guards walked in with him and just stood beside the door as he approached me with the paper. "From whom?" I asked, stretching my hand to take the paper from him. "My apologies, my Alpha. Good morning, Sir," he greeted. The urgency of what he had seemed to have caused him to forget that he was to greet me once he saw me. The other guards with him also did the same. They all bowed and greeted as they ought.I just nodded curtly and went back to my question. "Where did you get this from?" I asked again. "It was delivered to us by a Rogue. He came to us with a white flag and when we asked him to approach us, he came to us and handed the paper over to us. He said it came from your brother…""It came from Murray?" Chapter Hundred and ThreeElsa's POV"My Queen, you're awake," Abigail remarked as my eyes opened slowly. I turned to my left and saw her holding onto my left hand with tears in her eyes and I wondered what happened to me. There were others in the room; the Pack nurse and two of her trainees. One of the guards was there too. They all had their gazes fixed on me when I woke up and it felt so overwhelming. Slowly, I began to recall what had happened. I remembered how I was talking to Abigail close to the garden before I felt weak and my eyes got hazy. It became clear to me exactly what had happened to me…I had fallen to the ground, unconscious. That must have been why I found myself in my room with no knowledge of how I got there. What I couldn't tell was what caused me to lose consciousness in the first place. "What happened?" I asked, trying in vain to sit up. "You must relax, my Queen," Abigail said, seeing that I struggled to get up. "You don't need to exert yourself at the mo

The previous night was a very busy one as I had to put a few foodstuffs together so that I could send them across to my mother. It was exhausting, yet it was worth it.I looked to my side and Davon was still fast asleep, even though he went to bed much earlier than I did. I thought he was beginning to get too lazy."Get up, sleepy head," I teased him, shaking him a few times to awaken him from his slumber. "It's morning already. Didn't you say that you had a meeting to attend?"He grudgingly turned as he stretched, yawning so loudly that I wondered how he became that tired. He finally got himself to sit up and he just stared at me like he was going to hit me. It was so funny. "You should have just let me sleep a little more, honey. The meeting is not until another hour," he protested. "You just didn't want to watch me enjoy

A few elders were already seated there when we walked into the place. My mother was there too. She sat on a sofa just opposite the elders and I didn't expect to see her there. I felt she'd be right next to my father instead. The previous night, news was sent to us that Melissa and Alina had broken out of their cells. We were told that they managed to get out despite the presence of several guards who were stationed in front of their cells in the dungeon and I couldn't help but feel surprised. I had thought something like that couldn't happen, especially because it had never happened before. Somehow, Melissa and her daughter were able to do the impossible. Davon suggested that we wait till the next morning before making our way to yeh Pack but I swiftly objected to that. I wanted to get to the root of the matter, especially since I was th

Chapter HundredAlina's POVAs we got off the carriage after arriving at the Rogue Pack, I looked around at my new surroundings and it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. For sure, it was nothing compared to the Runway Pack. The brown leaves on the floor left a lot to be desired. The flowers grew wildly, no one bothered to trim them, but as I walked past them with my mom by my side, those were the least of my problems. I wondered how Murray was going to take the loss of his dear Mandy. I had lied to the other guards that she was killed by one of the guards in the Runway Pack. The good thing was that I didn't pull out the knife that I used to kill her and it belonged to Ronnie. Nothing about her death pointed to me, except that I was supposedly with her when it happened. Well, I shut off those thoughts as we continued to make our way to the throne room. I wanted to know what it looked like. "It must be the size of a mushroom," I laughed in my mind.
