This is a double chapter day, so the next one will be posted very soon. Let me know what you think by liking/commenting/voting with those blue gems everyone loves. Your support has floored me and has brought so much encouragement with this story. Thank you for sticking with me and coming along on Elle and Kade's journey.
ELLE They brought us into a small auditorium since we had so many people with us. This looked like it was one used for learning because the seats had little writing surfaces on them. Others used it for their coffees, but I had a different purpose. I set my coffee on the floor and pulled out a notebook and pen. I wanted to make sure I jotted down anything that was important. Dante chuckled, and I looked next to me and saw that he did the same. We smirked at each other. “It’s hilarious how similar you two are and were barely raised around each other,” Kade said. He was not kidding either. There were many quirks and preferences that we both had. Take reading for example. We dogeared the page on the bottom corner instead of top. Always put our left sock on first. Only just enough milk to wet cereal but not drench it. Preferred white chocolate over any other kind. “Greatness calls to greatness, Kade. Learn it. Live it. Believe it. They fucking called us twins for a reason,” Dante said
ELLE Three days were devoted to getting a plan of action together. Four of the six Alphas came from Nightshade and two from Shadow Creek. All six either had Alpha blood or Beta blood. It was not a disqualifier if someone did not have them, but these were the six that we felt were the best fit. We assigned which pack the Alphas went to based on experience and skills because some of the packs would be more challenging than others. Two of the Betas came from Nightshade and four came from Shadow Creek. We let the Alphas and Betas decide which pack the Betas would be assigned to. Each Alpha and Beta team seemed to be great fits for each other. Gammas and Deltas all came from Nightshade, and they all got a say in which pack they would prefer. The Dalestone pack, because of its size, were assigned two Gammas and two Deltas. The Council would provided two hundred warriors for us to distribute amongst the six packs. Nightshade would supply an additional hundred. There was also twenty-three
KADE It infuriated me every time that I heard about the things that my mate and her people had been forced to endure in that disgusting pack. I was glad that she had taken the time to document what occurred. I doubted that she ever thought that it would come in handy, but she did it because it was one of the only things she could do. They were all helpless and at the mercy of their abusers. Documenting everything was also her way of showing how strong her people were. There were a few hundred people standing around when we made our way back from the car. It drew my attention away from the fact that her prize would be another round of fun like we had at the lake, which was something I would always crave. It was amazing how much pleasure the shadows could elicit from her. There was a large area cleared for the fight. Alpha Aziel was standing to one side. His pack was not allowed anywhere near him per the Council’s order. Caiathus had already ensured that he would not be able to mindli
ELLE Dahlia’s sister was a bright ball of sunshine that radiated happiness. That would not have been true had Cadence’s sister not protected her in the only way that she could. She was more than excited to leave the pack and come back with us. Cadence was left to start packing her things up while Dahlia came to the office with me so that she could help us figure out who we could trust in this pack. She was more than happy to help out. We left Gabriel and Ansley to watch over her. They would not let any harm come to her, and I could tell that it lifted an ever-present weight off Dahlia’s shoulders. Our people followed behind us as she led us to the dead Alpha’s office. It smelled like a brothel in here, making me nearly gag. I went to open the window, but Caiathus snapped his fingers, and the room was immediately aired out and smelled like the forest after a rainstorm. “You’re my hero, Caiathus. That was a horrid smell. You just saved my life,” I told him. “I could never let you di
ELLE Alpha Denver had his work cut out for him. The Dalestone pack had plenty of corruption running through its veins, but there was even more hope to overshadow that. Dahlia and her sister offered to stay and help the new leadership get their footing in the pack before she came back with the others who chose to relocate to Nightshade. I was very proud of her for making such an offer because it showed her resilience, determination, and strength. “We need to get a suite in the packhouse with two rooms ready when we get home,” I told my mate who was driving us back to where we got the cars in the first place. “Why would we need to do that, darling?” he asked me curiously. I would admit that he had taken well all the crazy shit that came with being mated to me. He embraced every part of me and loved them all. I thanked Selene every day for gifting me the best mate that I could have ever hoped for. “Alpha Theo and his currently rejected mate will be coming to us for the weekend,” I s
ELLE “Your mate is perfectly safe in here without you,” I told Diego. We were about to open the portal, and I did not to overwhelm and ambush the two coming through. “I know that she is. I just like irritating you,” he cooed. Kade used the shadows to open the door and pushed him outside before slamming the door shut. “Not cool, Kade,” he shouted from the other side of the door. I leaned up and rewarded my mate with a kiss. He placed a kiss on my forehead before pulling me to his side. The portal opened to show the inside of a white room, but the two people in the center with very confused looks on their faces were my focus. “You can just walk right through. She’ll close it when you’re on this side,” I said, waving them in. She went to grab a bag on the floor, but he beat her to it and rolled his eyes at her when she stuck him with the same look that I gave Kade all the time. Brynn was gorgeous with her auburn hair, high cheekbones, and beautiful expressive amber eyes. I could
ELLE We reconvened at dinner time. We had food brought into the conference room so that we could discuss things privately. Tinsley offered to get our guests, so we were just waiting for them to join us. Kade said that he talked to Alpha Theo, so I hoped it helped. It seemed to have when they walked through the door with his hand on her lower back. “How are you two doing?” I asked, as they sat down. Brynn looked at him before looking at me. I could immediately see that something was off. She opened her mouth to speak but closed it and looked back at him. “She had rough nightmare when she took a nap,” Alpha Theo supplied, his lips tipping down as if to say that rough was an understatement. Dante was looking at her carefully, obviously seeing something that we could not. He stood up and knelt down next to her. “I’m far more fucking talented than my sister,” he said, side-eying me, “part of my gift allows me to see snippets, impressions, and such. Can I try to take a closer look at
ELLE Today would be the last day before Alpha Theo and Brynn headed back to the pack. My heart truly went out to them because she had already faced so much tragedy in her life and now there was danger lurking in the shadows wanting nothing but to hurt and enslave her. They would never touch her though. “I don’t snore,” I heard Brynn say as she and Alpha Theo walked down the hallway together. “Yes you do. It sounds just like an adorable kitten,” he told her, smirking down at her. “I’ll show you adorable kitten.” She glared at him before elbowing him. Kade and I watched them interact and smiled at each other. It seemed that being here even briefly had been good for them. I hoped that they could continue to heal. “How about at training tomorrow then? I want to see what all the fuss is about the great Brynn Fullilove’s fighting skills,” he offered. A mischievous grin lit up her face as she nodded, saying that she could not wait. They both finally realized that we were right here an
