“Dad, can I ask you something?” Asher asked me on the way to school.

Ziyah did not sleep well, so I insisted on her trying to get some rest before we headed over to the meeting at Nightshade. She did not even fight me on it, which told me just how exhausted she was.

“Always, son. What’s up?”

I smiled at him and squeezed his shoulder.

Asher looked at Blakely and Grenza for a moment before turning his attention back to me. It seemed that he was the designated speaker for whatever this particular conversation was about. They often switched it up depending on the topic.

“What’s going to happen if we don’t have wolves? Who would become Alpha? Like, would it go to Leo?”

I stopped walking and turned to the triplets.
