Chapter 5

The discussion with my warriors wasn’t fun, to say the least.  Although they did comment that without losing the test, they would have never understood the risk our pack was in.  Not just for this threat but in everyday life. Concern for their family member and our pack was high.  I reminded them that if we can end it here it would be better.

Over video chat, I met with my Lead warriors. My mother and my father as well. Right now they are acting Luna and Alpha in my absence.  We brain stormed on ways to implement what we learned today.  “I am not teaching your mother to fight!  It is wrong.  Our pack is strong, our warriors are undefeated!” My father yelled.

“I know how to fight; it has been a while since I trained.  I will meet with the female Delta warriors tomorrow. Your father just proved this Stasia lady right. We are underestimated. “My mother said smugly. “I will start training the pups and the warrior guards on the “Luna password”, for the bunkers.  Did they really get your middle name out of you?” my mom said laughing. For that matter everyone was chuckling. I might need to remind everyone I am the Alpha. It is obvious that they are too comfortable around me.

I ended the video without even a goodbye and dismissed my warriors. Asher my Bata, my top 2 warriors, and myself are due for a late dinner at Alpha Dane’s office. We head there as we are already late.

The smell of steaks on the grill hit me. My stomach was growling. Corn on the cob with butter, baked potatoes. The aroma in the foyer was attacking my nose, and making my stomach think my throat was cut. I was hoping that what we are eating before the meeting. I secretly hoping that Stasia will be in this dinner meeting.  I would love to see her up close.  My wolf agrees, she would be fun to play with. For the first time my wolf doesn’t care that I want to play with a human, she is our mate. His fantasies are worse than mine.

My wolf has been waiting to meet our mate. But at 26, I was thinking the moon goddess has forgotten me.  Personally, I was happy just playing the field.  No, extra bullshit, or drama.  My wolf on the other hand reminds me that my mate will make up stronger.  Our pack needs their Luna. My mom is doing great.  But she is ready to retire that title. Not sure a human can really do the job.

As I walk down the hall to Dane’s office, I smell grill shrimp. Damn, I am so fucking hungry.

“Alpha Mark, Bata Asher, Dex, and Max. Thank you for finally joining us.” Alpha Dane state. He lifted his glass, pointing to the other men in the room. “The is Declan my Bata, my lead warriors Dylan, and Tim.” The pleasantries were met, but since there was no eye candy named Stasia. All I care for was the food.

“Lets, fucking eat. My stomach thinks my throat has been cut.” I grabbed my plate and stated loading up. “Nice spread.” I said as I stuffed a roll in my mouth.

“Yeah, Marquee went all out.  Are you sure you don’t want a drink first? We aren’t animals you know.” Dane said, eyeing with a glint in his eye.

“Kiss my ass Dane, the animal with in is fucking hungry. If I don’t eat soon my wolf with come out to hunt. Right now, we are both drooling over these steaks.” I said, as they laughed and I sat down to eat.  They started to fill up their plates as well. I cut open my steak, it was on the rare side which was perfect. I put a piece in my mouth. The meat was tender and juicy, savory.

“You were drooling over Stasia earlier.” I waved off Declan.  Trying to play down that fact, I may be thinking of letting of my wolf hunt her down later.

“I was thinking of getting him a napkin.” My Bata is dick. I give him an evil glare. Making him shiver.

“I was on the other side of the room.  I even noticed it.  I thought for sure Alpha Mark, had found his mate. With the way he was looking at her. I thought for sure he was going to grab her cave man style right there.” Stated Dylan in a factually manner.

Everyone stopped eating, a look of shock in their eye.  I am beginning to think, all these tough guys are just gossip hounds. “Bro, is she your mate?” Dane questioned.

I put down my fork. “Sorry, all I could smell was pickles and Crest Water Moon warriors. So, no she not my mate. If she hadn’t been Canon’s “special friend’s”, I might hit though.”  I hope that sounded cooler than, it felt, as I said it.  My wolf was excited about the word mate.  We quickly thought of Stasia as our mate, and my wolf was mad that we lied about her being our mate. But I had my reasons, she was human. I had no idea how I really felt about that.

“Stasia is special don’t get me wrong. But her and Canon were strictly friends.” Dane sound sad and looked strained. “When he was stationed in Germany for the last year of his enlistment, we were all concerned.  There are no packs there. A few covens of vampires and witches. Letting his wolf out would be dangerous. As well as we all know it is mentally unhealthy for us to not let our wolf out.  Not only is it cruel to our wolf, but it messes with our bond.” He paused, taking a long sip of his whiskey. “Even leaving the base was dangerous for him.  He felt stuck.  Well three months in he found a little wooded area to run his wolf, so twice a week he would run at about 3am. A few weeks later he come across Stasia in the woods.  He was in wolf form, and she had his cloths. Only goddess knows why he shifted behind a tree with her right there. He knew she was human. But he did. He told me she was a little freaked out but not scared.  She is an insomniac, and couldn’t sleep. She had seen the woods and thought she would check it out. She found his cloths in a bush, because his sleeve of a hoodie was not folded in.”

Dane paused looking for the words. Living the memory of conversation long ago with his only brother.  I understood where Canon was coming from.  While I was in the Marine Corp, letting my wolf out was very difficult at times. Being so far from my pack, created a loneliness that was defying. Dane and I got lucky we found one another. We had our own little pack of two.

“When Stasia found his cloths, she thought something was wrong. Like really wrong.  She went looking for a body. Canon said that she was afraid, that someone had died alone.  That thought killed her. She told him, that a student at her high school a year ago, had killed themselves.  This student took his clothes off, then shot himself.  In the note the student left it stated that was his favorite outfit, and he wanted to wear it his last day of earth. But he wanted to be buried in it as well. So, he stripped down.” Dane got up and refilled his drink. A tumbler in one hand and a bottle in the other he walked back to the table and sat down. Fuck I need a drink! I grabbed the bottle from Dane and filled my glass.

“Canon and Stasia talked all night. She would let him talk about anything. And everything.  That first night she asked a lot of questions about him being a werewolf. His family, the pack and his wolf.  Canon was looking forward to having his mate someday.  But he was a man, and trust me, he knew how pretty Stasia is. But she wasn’t his mate, he also knew in that minute that he couldn’t live without her as well. At that moment she become his sister.  Canon sounded better over the phone.  He said he found a pack, like I did. Stasia was his Mark.” Dane fell silent for a few. Looking a little lost in memories, long gone.  I remember Dane telling me about Canon finding his away from home pack. He never mentioned she was a smokin hot chick with eyes you could swim in.

A little knock at the office door broke the silent that had engulfed us. “Excuse us gentlemen, I just need a minute of my alpha’s time.” Luna Marquee stated as she walked in.  Dane smiled at her calling him, her alpha.

Fuck me it hit light a ton of bricks, lilacs, cherry blossom, and spring rain. My wolf had stopped licking his nuts and stood proud.  I could feel him trying to push though.  She stood behind Asher her hand on his chair. Her perfect little hand, with perfect little manicured nails.  Black and silver French manicure. Hey, I have a mom, I know what a manicure is.

Stasia was in a black and silver skin tight dress, with a low cleavage. Her plump bosom peeking out, creating a valley I wanted to run my tongue along.  When she leaned down into Asher to talk to him, I noticed the back of dress slopped low in the back. Grrrrrrrrr my wolf didn’t like the way Asher was so close to her.  The way Asher’s line of sight was boob high. The way she giggles at what ever that asshat just said.  It took everything I had to control my woof.  I know Asher would never be that close to her if I had told the truth.

“…. Stop worrying I have Flex my personal guard. Plus 10 warriors at bar with us.  I promise only to dance with Stasia.  I need a Fucking Break.” Marquee was almost in tears as she spoke with Dane. “Stasia has agreed to go. Come on please.”

“Dane, our Luna couldn’t be in better hands.  She is going with the devil herself.” Asher said as he playfully elbows Stasia. “Her knife skills could nut a dude at 50 yards alone.”

My wolf was begging me to stop her from going out looking like that.  She doesn’t have our mark.  I am begging my wolf to understand we have to wait.

“Please be safe and get home before 2.  Stasia, I hold you Flex responsible for Marquee safety.” Fuck, I was counting on Dane to stop them. Both women giggle as the Luna kisses Dane on the cheek. And started for the door. Stasia dress barely covered her ass.

“Since you can only dance with me, you know if we make out. We won’t even have to pay for drinks.” Stasia tells Marquee whiling laughter was dancing in her eyes, never breaking eye contact with Alpha Dane as she closed the door.  His wolf let out a deafening roar. As the women were laughing in the hall.
