Chloe's POVIt was almost sundown when Esha and I finished tending the human patients. While it was nothing to us, investigating who the intruder was would entail us to stay within the human town’s premises for a few days. “We shall head to the cabin.” I told Esha as we entered the forest. The cabin by which we use as a guise for temporary lodging was actually quite far from the human town. Humans would take a few hours hiking to each the cabin, but for werewolves, it would just be a few minutes of rushing through the forest. As the sky darkened, the path toward the cabin became densely green and secluded. But halfway through the path, my body froze immediately, halting my movements. “T-teacher, what’s wrong?” Too surprised with my actions, Esha’s eyes looked at me in puzzlement as she waited for my next move.“Head to the area quickly, there are people there. Whether they mean no harm, I’ll leave it to you to deal with them…” I looked far on the east side as I softly instructed.
Chloe's POVCaleb had a profound look on his face as he asked the question. My heart stopped as I remembered his hostility toward Blake. But looking at his expression it doesn’t seem like he realized it was him. “Ah… How long have you been here?” Trying to dodge his question, asked with surprise. “From the time Esha went off… Seeing that you spaced out, I thought you saw an important person.” There was a subtle flicker in Caleb’s eyes, “At one point I even thought you saw your mate.” My breathing stopped as soon as he uttered these words. ‘Are my expressions that obvious?’ I asked myself as I shook my head refusing to let out a word.An awkward silence took over, wishing one of us to break it. I felt Caleb’s eyes land on me heavily, his eyes were clouded by an indescribable sense of hesitation, wanting to speak something but in the end, he closed his eyes and sighed. “I have some news from the spies we had, I think you need to hear this along with the others…” With his helples
Chloe's POVIt was cold when the night of the party arrived. Dressed in black evening gown with subtle accents of gold, I led the team to enter the banquet area.“Dear guests, may we have your invitation.” Two large-bodied warriors looked at us without any expression and inspected our invitations. But it was not only them who were scrutinizing our identities at the moment. I could feel several pairs of eyes gazing at us at the moment, as if they were trying to find anything suspicious. Our hearts remained calm. There is a reason why we lurked around their pack for days, and that is to observe how our targets behave. We’ve studied the way they talked, even their peculiar habits. We tried to gather information as much as we could to ensure that we would blend perfectly to the crowd at this moment. Although a few days of observing was not enough, we hoped that it proved beneficial to our mission from this point forward.I for instance, maintained the demeanor of the Alpha of the Br
Chloe's POVAt the announcement, everything in the banquet hall seemed to have stopped. The elders and officials with me all froze on the spot as they looked at the direction of the announcement. At the central most end of the banquet hall was a stairway. There, all eyes laid with awe and reverence. The next moment, I felt a cold wave of blood thirst sweeping around the entire hall. The aura was heavy and oppressing, most of all it was several times more fearsome and ferocious as my father’s suppressing aura. While the aura was heavy and ruthless, no one resisted. Instead, everyone knelt down with their heads lowered as their mouth opened greeting in unison, “Greetings to the new Lord of the werekind Alpha Kain!” My eyes swept at the positions where Vannessa and the rest were, fortunately, all of us were able to react on time as this was all happening. Finally after five years of running away, four of us will lay our eyes on the person who brought our pack into ruins. “Keep you
Chloe's POVThe momentary silence caused me to recover and realize. Everyone in the room were now focused on the group who has entered the banquet hall in such an imposing manner. As the music stopped, gasps and murmurs were heard all around creating a tense atmosphere. The group marched with an aura that is sharp and deadly, not losing to the aura that Kain released earlier. As they passed through the crowd, the temperature in the banquet seemed to have dropped by several degrees, leading the other guests to frown and shiver. They were people who wore silver full face masks, which left everyone with no way to know what kind of expression they were having at the moment. All that everyone could see were the cold shadowy eyes staring straight at one direction… that seemed to be towards… me?No… It was not towards me… but towards the person standing just behind me… Alpha Kain!I watched as they approached in our direction, although deep inside I was still calm. Whoever they were, th
Chloe's POVThe entire banquet hall paused and all eyes were drawn to the direction of the screams. At that point, everyone realized that two of Alpha Kain’s aides collapsed on the ground lifeless. Blackish red blood flowed from the seven orifices of their bodies and the metallic smell of blood started to scatter in the air. The screams came from the women who were beside them as they were performing carnal activities. In an instant, chaos ensued in the banquet hall and all the Aides of the different packs came to protect their leaders. Naturally, Vannessa and the rest regrouped on my side as I sent them a mindlink, “Act as naturally as possible. I trust that you did not leave any trace but we shall still be vigilant.” As we have long planned this to happen, I knew that this matter would not be traceable to us, at least while carrying the identity of Alpha Aira.“Alright.” The rest replied as we all acted how others would. At our table the Alpha’s who were still enjoying the compa
Chloe's POV“What in the…” Allan and Vanessa all exclaimed in surprise. Fortunately they all did it through mindlink and were never able to express this outwardly. I acted as fearful as possible while I contemplated what should be the best reaction for this matter. Deep inside I was in disbelief that Alpha Kain would first suspect me out of all the guests present in the hall. ‘Could it be the matter earlier?’ I racked my brains to think why would Alpha Kain put his suspicion on me until I remembered the little mishap I made earlier. Before I could open my mouth to speak, Alpha Kain had already ordered his strongest warriors to surround me and my companions, much to my dismay. His eyes looked at me as if he was saying that since it was his territory, he is the one to decide on things and that he is really sure that I was the one who did it. “What shall we do, Chloe?!” Vanessa asked, clearly panicking inside.“We..” Before I could order my people, Alpha Kain’s voice already sounded
Blake's POVIt was five years ago when I saw the need to have another force that could become Silver Pack’s weapon for the enemies lurking in the dark. But it took me several years to find the most suitable one. Frost Fang Pack, a well known pack only heard on children’s stories and have never yet to appear for several generations already. However, the knowledge about this pack was not known to others except for one person, Teacher Astor. As a healer, he spent his years roaming over the lands to discover medicine and along the way heal the sick. One of his exploits was being able to heal the sole heir of the pack who is on the verge of losing his life to a rare disease. Due to this, a connection was created between the two packs. For the Silver Pack, it is both an honor and an opportunity. For the Frost Fang Pack, it is a lifelong debt. And so, while Silver Pack is in hiding, Teacher Astor, Arthur and I worked on collaborating with the Frost Fang pack to build a fake persona
ChloeWe stared at the sight in shock and a flash of realization came over us as the puncture on the fog wall rapidly closed up.“As you can see, we can only see the pathway for a few seconds then it will close again…” Alpha Nador calmly exclaimed. Then from his large bag, he revealed a thick rope, heavy and long. “We need to have one person, the most nimble among us to cross the thin pathway. Once he reaches the other side, he has to connect the rope so that all others will be guided. For I can only open the fog wall here on the stable ground. The pathway is so thin that it would crumble once we tried to exert our energies while stepping on it.” Alpha Nador then explained. Then he looked at us, asking with his eyes who among us would be the first to cross the path. “I’ll go…” Blake did not hesitate and immediately answered. “Good!” Alpha Nador said as he tied the rope on Blake’s waist and told him some instructions. Before he went, I held his hand and said in worry, “Be careful
ChloeThere has been a great change at the joint camp these days. After Blake’s last expedition in the Rain Valley, we welcomed the news of a newfound ally.Alpha Nador, the leader of the Rain Valley pack surrendered to Blake in an all-out duel and submitted themselves to his command. While it was not a smooth process of acquiring allies, we managed to pull through and integrate their members into our alliance after ensuring that they all agreed that we would put all hostilities behind us. Just like the Frost Fang pack, the alliance will only last until we have eradicated Alpha Kain’s forces. After that, we will release them to be independent. This condition made the other members of the Rain Valley pack finally put their doubts behind them and fully face our goals head-on.Another thing that made us shocked was the discovery of a hidden association of werewolf packs who were against Alpha Kain’s regime. Because Alpha Nador had recently joined, he also gave us the information about t
BlakeRumble!!!As the thunder and lightning covered the dark expanse of the Rain Valley, so were the attacks being released back and forth. With the explosive blows he had released for quite a long period of exchange, I could not help but admire his might. How could he last for so long maintaining the peak condition of his attacks while also receiving blows from me?“C’mmon… Aren’t you so arrogant to say that you would subdue me and show me what you are made of?” There was a trace of impatience on the Rain Valley Alpha’s tone. “If you are not going to move, then I’ll take that as you admitting your defeat!” With that he gathered all his power and charged once more with another attack.I stood there unmoving, my heart was still contemplating as to why there is a small part of me that was hesitant to take the life of this Alpha. It’s like something from far away… where my hands couldn’t reach, tells me that I have to spare the Rain Valley Pack! However, in the utterly muddy and rain
BlakeCaleb noticed the person a second too late, and so despite his preparation the angle where the opponent is coming from will surely deal a great amount of damage to him. My face darkened as I realized this, without thinking further I used Eron’s power to rush in the attacker’s position to impede his attack.Boom!!As I brandished my fist to meet the large body of the opponent and the impact caused a sudden gust of the wind throwing off everyone in the battlefield. “Alpha…” Caleb realized what had happened when the pain he was anticipating did not land on his body. He looked at me wide eyed as he did not expect me to intercept the attacker’s movement while coming from a distance. “Don’t mind me… rally the troops and handle the rest! I’ll take this one!” I instructed. Surprisingly and for the first time, I saw no trace of resistance and stiffness on Caleb’s face as he nodded and obeyed my command. Welcoming the new development, I was relieved to take this position as I know t
BlakeWith that everyone took their own places and readjusted. After that, I called for Idriss and Caleb to assemble them after an hour to check of their temperaments. Even as the temporary alpha of this team, I could feel the state of their being just by looking at their countenance. While it seemed like everything was according to Caleb and Idris’s plans by far, we cannot let our guards down and cause a fatal error to the mission. To my relief, all seemed to come back to their peak state when they regrouped after an hour. Going with it was the night finally ripening even as the rain continued to fall unceasingly. As the heavy droplets of water poured down endlessly on the valley the forest became pitch black and the ground became muddier the longer we traversed in it. There’s no other silence but the incessant rain and there’s no other obstacle but the cruel terrain. Even so all of us silently pressed forward having to come here with a mission at hand. Soon the first teams re
Blake The entire barracks went silent momentarily, but the sound of cheers came right after. To the members of the alliance, the presence of one leader will empower them as they go on a dangerous mission. Idris was calm but his eyes looked at me with appreciation. However, Caleb still had a frozen look on his face.As for me, his attitude isn't something I mind, unless provokes me by making a move on Chloe. As for his loyalty, I know that he wouldn't betray the alliance so I left it like that.Having announced my decision I left the briefing on Caleb and Idris, letting them know that while I said that I will join the expedition, it will not cause a change on the plans the two have already set."Tonight, we will set off to the target alliance that we have on our list…" It was Caleb who did the honors in introducing the target to everyone. "...Living on the far west from the Blood Hound Pack, the Rain Valley Pack is the last pack that we have to take on for the second phase of our
BlakeAs soon as I uttered those words, Chloe’s body froze momentarily in surprise. The next moment she gave a light hearted chuckle and sunk into my embrace. Her response was fully welcomed by every bit of my being. Like we are each other’s fountain of life, we stayed like that for a little while. I looked down and took a good look at my mate’s face once more. Caressing the side of her face, my heart felt the piercing pain of seeing how exhausted she was as she pushed herself in deciphering the poison.“I heard from your student and Arthur that you have not gone out since taking the poison from my sickbed? Why do you torture your body this much?” I uttered in helpless pain. But when I was expecting for her to give me a rather serious explanation, I was blown away when I saw my mate pout adorably as she replied back, “What goes the same to you, aint it?” My heart felt like it was going to drop. For I am not prepared to be attacked in such a way. Her eyes looked at me as she contin
Blake“There you go… All done!” Arthur clapped his hands as he took the casts and bandages in my body. After two days of recovering, my body is finally ready to move normally. Thanks to the combined efforts of Arthur and Chloe, developing a potion that could repair broken bones, I was able to come back in tip-top shape in less than a week even with the heavy injuries that I had. “What’s your plans today?” Arthur cast a curious look on me as he tidied up his things and prepared to go to Chloe’s laboratory.“I was thinking of visiting your lab to see Chloe... But looking at your countenance these days, it seems like everything isn’t going well?” I replied. “Sigh… it is as you said… I’ve even contacted Father to take a look at it because it seems like we were not even close to deciphering a layer of it…” Arthur brushed his head while lamenting over the matter of the poison. “It’s only been two days… don’t pressure yourself too much,” I replied. “I know man…. But we cannot afford tha
Chloe“Made by Uncle Gauss?” My entire body trembled when I heard his name and the words that Blake said. In my hands, the very poison used by my uncle to kill Dad. The very poison I was not able to successfully save my father from. And even after his death and after five years of relentlessly searching, there was still no clue as to what could counter this poison at all. This very poison was one of the two poisons I promised myself to defeat, the other being the one that infected me and Aurora. “Chloe… you good?” Arthur called out softly as the two of them noticed that I fell in a daze the moment I heard the information from Blake. “No, I’m fine… it’s just that, I did not expect that I would have to encounter this poison when I am still unable to find out how to counter it.” For the first time in the last five years, I openly told someone that I was unable to guarantee that I could deal with this poison in front of me. “Don’t worry, we’ll help you. Esha is also a good child you
