Jo’s POV

I’ve never had an interest in learning about other people’s deities. The goddess Selene is my goddess. In my book, I don’t disrespect other people's faith; they don’t disrespect mine. That’s why I have never entered a church. That is the Catholic God’s house.

But today I need to tell my sisters my news. So I swallow my pride as I walk towards the sandstone building that has probably stood for centuries.

Ora has told me many times that Father Nicholas is a friendly man. She tells me he maintains an open-minded stance towards faith. Which is why he offers a multi-faith day on the last day of the month.

Before, I walked through the huge arched doorway. I stall “Today I ask permission to enter.” I whisper to the invisible entity. I then take a step inside and snort. He didn’t smite me. I take that as a sign that he is allowing me entry.

I watch as Ora uses the water from a fountain at the end of the foyer. But I refrain from using the blessed water. This is a Cathol
