AMERICA DAVIES

"Let's get ready!" I told myself. I felt my wolf howl with excitement and I couldn't help but to smile.

A dress as beautiful as the night sky caught my attention as it shimmered in my wardrobe. "December twenty seven." I felt my lips curve into a smile as I remembered the backstory of the dress.

"Snap out of it!" I shook my head. I was far from ready when it was already seven. I slipped into the dress and it still fitted like a glove.

I heard a knock on my door and I knew it was none other than Celestia, my sister in the pack. She walked in with a few bags in her hands. "Ooh! Someone looks hot! Where is she going?"

"I'm going to see Travis."

She sighed, "are you going to sit at his porch again all night?"

"What no! He texted me." I smiled.

"Finally! That jerk." She sat on my bed. "The howling hollow is around the corner, it's just a few blocks away, what are we going to wear?" She grumbled.

"Is that why you brought your entire wardrobe to my house?"

"It's a fashion-mergency!"

"How do I look?"

"You look gorgeous. Here." She handed me her leather jacket, "it's cold outside."

"Thanks." I planted a kiss on her cheek and picked up my handbag, "bye!"

★•★

Waiting for me was none other than Travis, "Travis!" He got up as he heard my voice. I ran to hug him but he pushed me back and refused I touched him.

"This dress…" he squinted, trying to remember.

"The night of the howling hollow last year, remember, you told me I was a shining star." My cheeks flushed red, "does this bring back any memory?"

"It doesn't bring back anything." He plainly said.

"What?"

"I called you here tonight to tell you something very important." He frowned.

"Why do you look so gloomy?" I raised my hand to his face but he pushed my hand away.

"Don't…" I frowned at his reactions. "Let's break up."

"What?!"

"I, Travis Sky, reject you, America Davies, as my mate."

I felt the whole world come crashing down on me. It was a familiar feeling, a feeling I had felt a decade ago when I watched my parents get murdered. I did nothing, I couldn't do anything, I was only nine. I'm not nine anymore and I won't stand and do nothing again. "I don't accept."

"America, don't make this hard on us."

"I won't accept this, I won't! I can't live without you in my life Travis." I felt a cold liquid sip from my eyes. It was truly a cold night but I chose to wear an exposing outfit to impress my boyfriend but even he dressed warm.

"In no time, your second chance mate will come around and you won't even remember me."

"Really? The soon to be head Alpha of our community?"

"Forget me."

"Never." I turned around and began to take quick steps away from him.

"America!"

From quick steps to running, I didn't stop until I got home.

"Gumdrop what happened?" Celestia asked as I stood in front of her with teary eyes, she just pulled me in her arms. "It's okay baby."

It was a cold and stormy night, I had this odd phobia for cold and snow since my parents died and I was stranded in the snow for days, left to starve and then freeze to death but I faced my fear tonight to see him, now, all I'm left with is a freezing heart.

★•★

"Here, drink this." Celestia brought a sleeping serum like she had read my mind and I accepted it and drank every last drop. "That shady bastard, I can't believe he would do something like that to you." She sat next to me and handed me my emotional support teddy bear. "He just dumps you like that when his wedding is around the corner."

"Wedding?" I sat up in bed.

"He didn't tell you?"

"No! How do you know that?"

"I heard from my brother when I went out this morning, that warm blooded twisted lying, double crosser, heart breaking–"

"--I get it Celestia!"

"Sorry, he's a venomous wolf that tricks you to believe he likes you just to bite you where it'll kill you."

I felt my head banging and I placed a hand on my temple, "argh."

"Sorry princess, rest up, you've gone through enough."

I laid back in bed and was soon asleep.

★•★

"Argh!!!"

"Run America!"

"Howl!!!!"

I jolted awake from yet another nightmare. I curled into a ball on my bed. "What is left for me here?" I asked myself in tears. "I just don't belong here anymore."

After a few minutes, I gathered myself and packed a few things I might need then I texted Travis to meet up.

I picked up a pen to write but then I thought to myself, "no one must know, not even Celestia." "I'm so sorry I let you down Mom and Dad." I cried to myself. I decided to scribble on the paper the letters b-y-e in italics then dropped it on the floor, hoping it would never be found.

Here I was at the grey, waiting for Travis' arrival. I had my doubts but then I saw his wolf approaching me.

"You promised to protect me from my nightmares but now you are one." I smiled. "I accept your rejection and I wish you a happy marriage.

"You gave me this pendant when your Dad saved me from the snowstorm, you told me; plant it in your fear and it won't hurt you anymore." I paused for a moment to control my emotion.

His bright yellow eyes stared at me.

"I buried it in the snow ever since that day but in a place where I can still find it even in summer. I'm giving it to my worst fear." He accepted the pendant. "Goodbye Travis."

He howled as he ran into the darkness.

★•★

It was a bumpy ride all the way and I was in a cramped space for hours but I finally made it. "It's time to start over, welcome to Los Angeles, America."

TRAVIS SKY "Honey, what are you doing not in your tuxedo?" My mother asked as she walked into my room. I hadn't even heard her open the door. "You know if you don't hurry, your father is going to flip this house upside down… literally." She smiled with her arms akimbo. "I will only be a minute more." "Are you going to spend that extra minute sitting on your desk and staring out the window like a depressed teenage girl?" She asked as she strolled towards me but I remained silent. She sighed, placing a hand on my shoulder, "honey," her lips curved into a faint smile, "I don't know what to say to make you feel better, I am honestly sorry about everything your father is putting you through." I looked away from the window then at her. "There is no need to be sorry mom, I really am fine now." "Really?" She questioned in a tone that portrayed the disbelief in her. "Yeah! When I realized that what I am doing is what is right for every single one of us, including her and the whole

"Mom! Dara won't give me back Mr bunny ears!" Lara yelled out as she ran down the stairs, almost in tears. "Lara please don't cry, Dara where is the teddy?" "I only wanted to borrow it." Dara explained as he descended from the stairs with a stuffed rabbit in his hand. "Well she doesn't want to borrow you right now, how many times have I told you to stop bugging your sister?""I'm sorry Mom, here you go Lara." He said as he handed the stuffed animal to his sister. "Where is Cara?" I asked as I served them breakfast. "In the bathroom." Lara said, already eating her pancakes. "Why?" "Her tooth fell out this morning." She said as she played with her pancakes and her leg dangled happily from the chair. "Oh dear, Lara stop playing with your food, Dara finish your food, I'm going to get

We both strolled down the busy town, exchanging greetings with a few people and cross checked for anything that might seem out of place. I kept tapping my feet on the ground and the sound it produced annoyed me but I didn't stop, I couldn't."Let's bail it." My wolf told me but I refused. "We are doing this for the pups, remember? He is the only one that can help us find them." "Crap!" "Are you ready to see him?" Alaric interrupted our conversation."Huh? Yeah." I forced a smile on my face. I got up and nervously followed him as he led the way. I felt a knot in my stomach and my pores began to leak with sweat. I felt my heart pounding like it wanted to bail on me but I had to remain strong. "For the kids, for the kids, for the kids...." I repeated the mantra in my head. There he was, sitting only a few steps from me. His eyes lingered on me while his facial expression portrayed bewilderment... So I felt. TRAVIS SKYI rushed to her just in time to break her fall, she was frozen still in my arms like a statue-- just like the night my dad and I found her in the freezing snow. "Are you okay?" Celestia asked as she rushed to us.Just like the night she had a nightmare, I huddled her in my arms while gently patting on her back. She felt so little in my arms and her familiar scent caressed my nose. I had missed her so much and I had forgotten how helpless she became whenever she was frightened. The others gathered around us, all asking the same question Celestia did. She raised her fidgeting index finger to the window and broken words escaped her trembling mouth. "There...there was someone... Out there.""Go survey the surroundings now!" I instructed Alaric and Dylan followed. As her consciousness started to kick in, she jerked free from my hold, obviously not with the intention of being so rough as her lips curved into an awkward smile. She folded into Celestia's arms, seemingly more c

I asked Jessy who was relaxing in my arms the whole evening."They are always fighting and giving mommy a headache." "Should we help?" "Mommy can handle it." She plainly responded as she played with her doll."Enough!" Celestia growled at the twin who instantly fell silent. "If you wanted more milk Marshall then you should have asked me and Misha... They both responded before running up the stairs.Celestia tiredly dragged her feet as she walked and settled next to me on the couch. "Twins are a headache, how do you raise triplets?" Peaking through the window blinds, I could hear them arguing."You have disobeyed the pact that brought both communities together which means you have declared war." The woman hollered as she advanced forward a little with her arms akimbo."War?" Travis questioned in confusion. "What are you--dad, what is she talking about?" "Face me and not your father." She frowned. "I did no such thing! What are you talking about?" Travis frowned in abashment as he turned to the woman. His hand was carefully placed below his rib, obviously still hurting from last night's fight."Oh really?" He let out a sigh that transformed into a smile. "Not many would have done what you just did." "You promised not to hurt me and I belie-- well I want to believe you. Plus, I want answers and you are my only chance at getting them." I tried to keep my voice confident, not wanting him to know that even with such a powerful dagger in my hand, I was feeling threatened by his presence. Though I kept my back straight and chin up, it was obvious that he could sense the fear in me thanks to his taunting smirk. I never for once paid attention to Kurt in my entire life. Never did I stop to stare twice at him enough to actually engrave his looks in my head like I did with Travis but standing in front of him... I realized he w

"We did it," I breathed heavily, pressing my hand against my wound. "We made it back home. Now to find help that--" The door to my apartment pushed open and Darla came hurrying towards me. "Travis!" She yelled out, pretending to be worried. "Oh my goodness! You need help!" She crouched down beside me. "I know what to do, I'll--""Stop." I muttered, cutting her off. "Go away from me." "What?" She squinted at me. "I said go away from me!" I growled as I shoved her to the ground with my remaining strength. "Is this fun to you? Huh? Tell me! You sick psycho!" "I am not asking you to leave them like you don't care. I just want you to think carefully before every single one of your actions!" "Well there's no time!" Besides, I got the stuffed wolves! Why won't you let them go?!" She broke out in a sinister laugh. "Your mother... She already loved your father before since they were kids. And kids make mistakes. At fourteen, she had gotten pregnant for him and though they were young, they insisted on keeping the baby. "It would be wrong for me to call it a mistake but that it was. She refused help from all of us, even her parents, who are your grandparents. Your father supported her blindly. So it became that a child raised a child. "She gave him everything, too much of everything. He grew up to be a good kid surprisingly but when he became a teenager, he wanted to do things his own way." She paused thoughtfully and sighed.
