Chapter 4

"Answer me. You already tried to resurrect someone, don't you?" Our boss seriously asked again that made me bring back to the reality.

I gulped while staring at his eyes. Gusto kong maiyak dahil kapag naaalala ko ang nangyari. Mas lalo ko lamang sinusumpa ang sarili ko dahil dalawang buhay ang inagaw ko.

"Don't asked her that kind of question." Apollo interfered as he hold my hand and pulled me to the table in front of our boss. Kinuha nya ang folder don kung saan nakalagay ang mission namin bago ako hinatak at lumabas. Hawak nya lang ang kamay ko hanggang sa makarating kami sa bahay.

Binitawan nya iyon ng makapasok kami. Tahimik syang dumiretso sa sala na sinundan ko naman. I sat in front of him and watch him open the envelope.

"Mission given to Apollo Kairos and Avabelle Shivani. On the 25th of July 2021." He started.

"Next year is the election for the new president of the Philippines. I want you to bring back the deceased Senator Zenia Falcon. This is possible because we have the two of you. Bring her back because she new how to end the pandemic that's happening right now. Bring her back before the new year starts." Pagbasa nya sa nakasulat at dahan dahang nag angat ng tingin.

"She's dead, right?" I slowly asked that made him nodded. He's just staring at me so I decided to stand up. Kinuha ko ang laptop sa ibabaw ng aparador at nilagay sa lamesa. Tumabi ako sa kanya para makita nya din ang gagawin ko.

I tried to research something about Zenia Falcon. She's familiar maybe because I saw her once or twice on the television.

"She died four years ago." I said after reading the article. Tumingin ako kay Apollo para malaman ang iniisip nya ngunit naabutan ko syang nakatingin lang din sa akin. I sighed before smiling at him.

"Let's just finish this mission, okay?" I said and continued researching.

I found out that she's also a lawyer. She died because of a gunshot.

"So we'll just bring her back?" I casually asked to my partner who's now sitting comfortably on the sofa while watching me.

"What if I don't want to accept that mission?" He suddenly asked me too. I sighed and turned to him.

"We can't."

"I can if I want to." He insisted that made my brows furrowed.

"May I ask why?" I curiously asked because he's not the type to back out into something.

"Just because." Sabi nya at akmang tatayo na ng pigilan ko sya.

"Apollo, only us can do this." I calmly said and pulled his hand that made him sat down again.

"But you promised me that you won't do that again!" Reklamo nya na ikinayuko ko.

I smiled at him reassuringly.

"I won't do that again, so let's do our best to avoid her death okay?" Pagkumbinsi ko pa na inilingan nya.

"No. The fate is the fate. I told you that you can't change it no matter how hard you try-."

"I want to do this because this is the only way I can think of to pay for my sins! If we are able to save her, she can save a lot of lives! And I don't need to deal with a lot of nightmares everyday about the people I've been killing! You don't understand because you're not in my shoe-."

I was cutted when he pulled me and I just felt his warmth envelope my body.

"Shh. I'm sorry. I understand." He softly said and I just found myself crying in his arms again.

"Stop crying, please? We'll do the mission. Just stop crying." Halos pabulong nya ng sabi habang hinihimas ang buhok ko. Pinunasan ko na lamang ang mga luha ko at lumayo sa kanya.

"When will we start?" I said seriously like nothing happens. He sighed and hold my hand to let me turned to him.

"Promise me first that you'll not die." Sabi nya habang seryosong nakatingin sa mata ko. I pouted and rolled my eyes at him.

"Hindi naman ako mamamatay!" Sabi ko at pinalo ang braso nya. Umiling naman sya at ngumiti.

"You should. Kasi susunod ako sayo sa hukay." Sabi nya na nagpatawa na sa akin.

Nag kwentuhan pa kami ng kaunti bago muling bumalik sa trabaho. We tried to look for some important details at nagpasyang mag umpisa na agad bukas.

Nang magtanghalian ay nagluto na ako habang sya ay nanunuod sa likod ko. Palagi nalang ganito, gusto nya daw kasi akong pinapanuod palagi.

"Kumain kana. Stop staring at me, I'm not the food." Saway ko na ikinangisi nya. Magsasalita pa sana sya ng pasukan ko ng kutsara na may lamang pagkain ang bibig nya. I know that puro kagaguhan lang ang lalabas doon.

He pouted like a kid and rolled his eyes at me. I chuckled and started eating again. Napaka isip bata talaga.

"Death is inevitable." He said while eating some fruits. I shooked my head.

"Pero namatay sya dahil binaril sya. Hindi sa natural death. That's different." Sabi ko naman habang nakatingin sa chart na nasa harap namin.

"Yes love, tama ka." Sabi nya bigla ng samaan ko sya ng tingin.

It's already 9 in the evening when we decided to cook. Sa sobrang paepal nya ay nakayakap pa sya sa akin habang naghihiwa ng baboy dahil baka daw masugat ako!

Akala ko ba kapatid? I smirked at the thought while we were eating kaya kumunot ang noo nya sa akin.

"Baliw." He whispered and I just rolled my eyes.

After eating ay natulog na kami dahil maaga kaming magigising bukas. The time here and in the past are different, he said.

"You ready?" He asked while holding my hand. Wala naman kaming ibang dala bukod sa pera at papel na guide namin. I nodded and smirked. This is the first time that we'll used his power.

Inakbayan nya ko ng may ihagis sya sa ere at biglang naging portal.

"Let's go."
