CHAPTER 6

What A Birthday!

Two year's later.

Alexandria yawed as she woke up from sleep, Her eyes shot open immediately after she remembered "it's my birthday!" She screamed but soon yawed again lazily.

She rolled out from the bed and put on her slippers while scratching her butt. Though she was excited, she was always a sleepyhead, she scratched her eyes too with her other hand as she walked out of her room smiling, she was expecting a big surprise as usual.

This was the norm on her birthdays, the parlor was simply decorated, with few hangings here and there, but then it was still clean and tidy as usual.

"Momma, dad" she called out as she walked into the parlor but got no response, she dragged her way to the back door and there was her parent talking gently in a low tone, she knew better than to eavesdrop.

"Good morning big hero," she said excitedly, hugging her dad he lifted her in the air as he hugged her "good morning my warrior," her dad said. "Dad, am now fourteen, so am a big girl, you shouldn't be pulling me up any longer" she complained playfully, "Is that so?" Alfred said pinching her nose as he Dropped her down smiling.

"Good morning, momma" she greeted her mom hugging her waist, "Good morning my angel," smiling Diana replied as she patted her back "and... happy birthday dear," her mum and dad said together.

"I said it first," her dad said looking away playfully to avoid his wife's gaze, "no I said it first", her mother replied playfully "no I said it first", and they went on and on for a little while till they both busted into a peal of laughter while Alex chuckled at their love play.

"Fine, you win this time, you said it first," her father said as he gave in and they both hugged Alex. "We love you dear", her mother said, "so so much her father" added. "And I love you both too," Alexandria said as she collapsed into their hug.

The rest of the day went by like other days. Alexandria went to school, and came back, nothing much happened at school, she didn't have any friends at school so there wasn't any surprise for her at school, as usual, the girls mocked her during super ability training classes.

This time she had failed to pick the smell of a vampire. Her teacher had sprayed vampire scents on different pieces of clothes and hid them, she asked the children to find them using their high sense of smell.

It wasn't supposed to be hard even though the students were not yet up to eighteen years as to become full-fledge wolves, but since the teacher had sprayed a large quantity on the clothes and hidden them close by.

It was supposed to be a piece of cake in finding them, but Alex couldn't find any cloth since she couldn't even smell them. The whole class busted into laughter when the teacher asked for her piece of cloth and she couldn't give any, she smelt nothing and so caught nothing so what could she do?

All the same, she managed to survive school that day. She got excited at the thought of her birthday dinner with her parents later that night, she was so happy and no one was going to ruin her day for her. She was turning fourteen. To her, the time for her to become a full werewolf was drawing near, 'six more years' she squealed happily in delight at the thought of that.

She kept thinking of the birthday gift she would get from mum and dad that night, as well as the special meal that would be served today at dinner. "Differently, my favorite spaghetti and pepperoni would be there", she thought out loud. She couldn't wait to watch her parents sing her 'the birthday song' with their terrible voices, which by the way, she loved so much because it was funny and made her laugh.

As the bell rang indicating school closing, she picked up her bag threw it over her shoulder, and ran all the way back home. She bagged into Angelica on her way out but didn't even wait to be bullied, she ran away, and was able to get away because the girls were still in shock at her new attitude to go after her . " what's with the freak" Angelica yelled, surprised, her other friend or rather gang just shrugged.

Alex met both her mom and dad at home and hugged them "good afternoon Dad, momma, good afternoon" she greeted "welcome birthday girl", her mom said as she hugged her. She left for her room and changed into more comfortable clothes, then went into the kitchen where her lunch was already dished out, her mom was in the kitchen, together with her dad who was helping out to prepare dinner.

"Alex", her dad called out as she picked up her food and was about to leave the kitchen "yes dad", she replied, " go have your lunch, and once you are done come help us out here, there is something important I and your mum wants to tell you," her dad said with a hitch of sadness in his eyes.

Alex looked at her mom who wasn't saying anything and she caught her looking up to the ceiling. She did that usually when she was trying to hold up tears, "yes dad" Alex replied as she looked back and slowly walked out of the kitchen, trying to figure out what could go wrong on her birthday to bring her mum to the brink of tears.

"Alfred am not sure I can do this" Diana said sniffing, "no, I can't do this," she said looking away as she busted into tears while holding her mouth to prevent Alex from hearing her cry. "Diana, look at me," Alfred said turning Diana to face him, "I don't want to do this either sweetie, but we've got to do this, she have got to leave," Alfred said, desperation, fear, pain lurking in his eyes.
