Devyn
Her eyelids felt heavy as she eased them open. What had happened? There was a firefight. Then Kieran appeared and…
She shot up and her heart beat fast. Kieran had been there. He came for her. Where was she? Her eyes scanned the room and fell on the sleeping figure in the chair in front of her. He was leaning over onto her hospital bed and held her hand in his. Her heart grew at the image of him. He still looked so peaceful when he slept. Tears fell down her cheeks as she squeezed his hand. “Kieran?”
His eyes flew open at the sound of her voice and he sat up, looking straight at her. “Devyn…” he says, his voice breaking, and he stood up to wrap his arms around her. “Devyn,” He says again, breathing in her scent and she couldn’t help but hug him back. She was back in his arms, which was a bittersweet feeling in itself. Sighing, she gently pushed him away and their eyes met as guilt burnt hot in her chest.
“Kieran-”
“Don’t,
DevynShe looked at him as if he had grown an extra head, then realised what he had said. “What?!” Devyn exclaimed, but all he did was chuckle and kiss her forehead. “Mass is coming over. I mean it will take a few hours but he’ll be here. Or don’t you want to meet him?” Kieran asks. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to meet him, although they had met before, it was more the fact that she would be meeting her brother… her flesh and blood. Her other half, so to say.Devyn suddenly chuckles. “How crazy is it that we both gravitated towards you?” she says and looks up at him with a smile. Her mind goes back to what he had said earlier about Dimitri’s wife. “You mentioned that someone wanted to meet me?” She asks and Kieran nods, “Amaranthe Baranova. A few years ago she was kidnapped and tortured. I was told that if they had gotten to her half an hour later, she would ha
KieranHe steps outside the hospital room with Dimitri and looks at the Pakhan. “I’m guessing this was all Amaranthe’s idea.” He remarks and Dimitri nods while crossing his arms in front of his chest. “Amaranthe feels a kinship with your Devyn. I have never seen her be so adamant about something before. She truly wishes to help and give back. Something she didn’t have while recovering.” Dimitri says and Kieran sighs. “Might as well become fucking Bratva since I am in so deep with debts to you.” He says, running his fingers through his hair, but as he looks up at Dimitri, he sees the Pakhan shake his head. “One blood debt, Teague.” was all he said, and Kieran blanched.Fuck. A blood debt, that’s even worse. “Collect anytime,” Kieran says with a nod. and knew that Dimitri would definitely collect on this one day, and he dreaded the day it would come. A blood debt to a Bra
DevynA knock sounds at the door and her head whips up. She looks towards Kieran and sees a smile spreading on his face, “It’s Mass,” he says and she feels her heart still for a second. It’s her brother. She would be meeting her brother. Nodding, she tells him it’s okay to come in and braces herself for the meeting. Would things be different between them now?He walks in with the air of confidence all Teagues seem to possess and looks at Devyn, a small smile on his face. “Hey, sis,” he says with a chuckle and Devyn finds herself giggling. “Just skipping over the bullshit, hey?” she says and Massimo shrugs while walking towards them. “How else do you know me?”Kieran gets up from his seat and locks Massimo’s head in his arms, “So, not only are you my brother, but you’ll be my brother in law soon, fucker.” He says and the two have a mini wrestle as Devyn trie
DevynKieran pulls up outside a massive estate and pulls out his cell phone. “We’re outside,” he says and kills the call before the vast gates swing open to let them in. Devyn looks around in awe, “Wow,” she remarks silently and hears Kieran scoff. “Don’t be impressed by blood money, love. The Bratva built their world on it. All of us did.” He says before coming to a stop in front of a pair of double stairs leading to the mansion. Devyn couldn’t help but pick up the acid behind his tone. What was up with Kieran today? She picked up on his foul mood as soon as he picked her up from the hospital this morning. He moved to exit the car, but she caught him by the arm. “Kieran, what’s going on?” She finally musters up the nerve to ask him. Looking down at her, he sighs and shakes his head. “I didn’t want to speak to you about it here or now, but I know I have to tell you, eve
KieranHe opens the door to the Bratva leader’s study without knocking and, in return, receives a scowl. Kieran knew how to piss Dimitri off without even doing much, and seeing Devyn’s amazement at the luxurious mansion; he was even more pissed off. Was she that easily impressed by his blood money? “Fucking knock before you come into my office, asshole. Common courtesy.” Dimitri says as she shakes Kieran’s hand, and they both take their respective seats. “Apologies, your wife did say you were expecting me.” He replies with a shrug and hears Dimitri scoff at his words. “Now then, back to the business at hand. I have soldiers stationed outside the new leaders’ mansion in California. He happens to be Suarez’ eldest son, who did not agree with the way his father ran things. We have a meeting with him, and depending on our agreement and his mood, we can do this with minimal to no bloodshed.”
KieranKieran lived his life not trusting anyone but his family, and it turned out his own brother was plotting to overthrow him. He trusted Danielle and Mass, but that’s about it. Of course, he trusted Devyn too, but that was to be expected since she was basically the love of his life. But knowing that Dimitri saw him as family now… he didn’t quite know how to deal with it. A year ago, he saw Dimitri as one of his biggest enemies. Now the man saw him as family and was willing to betray others to keep Kieran’s family safe. Should he put his faith in a man who he didn’t fully trust? His training taught him not to trust anyone but family, but that has gone out the window since Conor betrayed him twice. He wasn’t quite sure if he should believe Dimitri’s words, but his actions as they met with the Cartel leader proved otherwise. They were seated in Suarez's son's office, with four guards each. One didn’t t
DevynIt’s been about four days, and they haven’t heard a thing from the men at all. Amaranthe told her not to worry since this was normal, but Devyn couldn’t help it. She’s been separated from Kieran long enough, and these past few days have been nothing but torture. Breathing out a sigh, she kicks off the blankets and lays a hand on her swollen belly. Things will be different now. She can no longer be selfish and has to think about two little souls who will depend on her. But as she thinks back to her childhood, she wonders if she has what it takes to be a good mother. She falls asleep with the feeling that things will be different when Kieran returns.A warm hand slipping underneath her silk camisole wakes her, coupled with the stubbled kisses in the nape of her neck. She knew these kisses, and she recognised this touch and the way he breathed her name in reverence. Kieran has returned, and he is starved.Devyn
DevynA lazy smile forms on her face when she stirs awake and feels the effects of Kieran’s assault on her body. Gosh, she missed this, missed how he worshipped her body and made her feel like she’s the most beautiful woman in existence. She stretches and feels his arms tighten around her as he groans into her neck. “Hmm, good morning, beautiful,” he thrums, snuggling his stubbled face deeper into the nape of her neck. “I did, thanks to you,” she says, squirming at the feeling of his beard on her sensitive skin and turning around to face him. It is only then that she gets a proper look at him; bags under his eyes, gaunt face, and it looks like he hasn’t slept in days. Did she cause him to look like this by running away?He opens his eyes, then closes them again and smiles, still looking incredibly tired. “Like what you see?’ he says in that cocky voice, but Devyn only huffs in disapproval. &
I sit across from the woman who was my fascination for so long and now has grown into the love of my life. I never knew what this feeling was when I first started seeing her as more than the woman I thought I despised. Now I realise how foolish I was before.“Are you going to eat or keep staring?” she asks me after placing a forkful of pasta in the mouth. I chuckle and shake my head. “Sorry, just day dreaming.”“Hopefully, it’s about me?” She says, finishing off the last of her favourite meal. I roll my eyes. “When isn’t it about you?” Ah, fuck, we sound like a couple of teenagers, but I fucking love it. Anastasiya grins and stands up, leaning over the kitchen table with her swollen belly. “Does that mean I’m in your nightmares as well?” She asks with a raised eyebrow, and I put the last forkful of pasta in my mouth. “You bet your ass that you are.”
Anastasiya“She’s not awake yet?”“No, she’s been out since we brought her in. The fucker did quite a number on her.”Wait, why did the voice sound so familiar? Oh, no! Martin will kill me if there are uninvited guests! I need to get up. I need-“Thank God you spoke to Dimitri about this, Killian! She would be dead by now if you didn’t!”“Killian…?” I murmur, my throat feeling as dry as parchment and my eyes struggling to open. I realise that I’m lying on my side and turn my head, opening my eyes straight into the green pair that haunts my dreams.“Hey, Princess,” he says with a smile and strokes my hair. “How’re you feeling?”What? “Killian? Why… Why are you here? What happened?” I stutter with a hoarse voice. The last thing I remember was hearing a bang before fading out. It usually happens
With my heart sitting in my fucking ass, I knock on Dimitri’s office door, and he tells me to enter. A small smile crosses his lips when he looks up from his laptop and sees me. “So finally you’ve conceded, eh?” He says with a chuckle as we shake hands.I shrug. “The old man wants to retire soon; it’s only fair,” I say with a smile, and we take our respective seats. “To cut a long story short, the Bratva members who are inching in on your territory are based in Washington. They’re looking to take out every trace of the Westies in Hell's Kitchen, but I have shown no reason as to why.” Dimitri starts.“I know why; the shipments from Dubai. We’re the only ones receiving a direct line from Tarian, and we get the cleanest cut. That’s the only thing I can think of.” I say.Dimitri sits back in his chair and sighs. “I suppose, and since DiMarco receives a similar shipment
I watch as she walks away from me for what would be the last time and savour it. Anastasiya felt the same way about me, but there’s nothing either of us can do about it anymore. She belonged to a fucking politician now.Deciding to put this mess behind me, I get in my car and hightail it out of there. There’s no use in sticking around now that I’ve had a final taste of my forbidden fruit - and oh, how sweet she was.I can still taste her long after I leave the Baranov mansion, still hear her moaning my name and gagging on my cock. How the fuck did we gravitate back towards one another after our shitty relationship in school? If only I weren’t such a little shit back then, that would have been me in place of that fucking politician. They say regret usually comes too late, and right now, I am filled to the brim with it.Even if I managed to find someone else in the future, no one would compare to her; Anastasiya was it for me, and as
AnastasiyaOf course, it's positive. Dakota tells me not to worry, and obviously, I do. I am a mess of nerves throughout my getting dressed, the ride to the wedding, the vows, and congratulations. Having my father walk me down the aisle brought me to tears, and a bittersweet emotion clouds my heart. He will no longer have me in his life, and it hurts like hell.I hate to say it, but I am no longer Anastasiya Baranova; I am now Anastasiya Ackermann.Just like that, my powerful underworld name fell away, and now it is replaced with a politician’s. I know my father needs me to do this, and it is my way of making it up to him, so I plaster on a fake smile and push through. The wedding is well attended with many famous faces - both of the mafia underworld and political parties. Even a few celebrities were here, some I did not invite.I had changed out of my huge wedding dress and am now wearing a comfortable strapless eveni
AnastasiyaI walk over to them and place a hand on Dakota’s shoulder. “Hey, are you okay, Dee?” I ask, not sure what to ask in any case. She nods, then wipes her tears away. “I’m just overwhelmed. I didn’t expect Dylan to say all those things or even know all those things.” I nod and rub her back. “You have a tough boy there, babe. Also, you don’t have to push yourself; if being here and around my brother is this hard, you don’t have to be here for the wedding.” Dakota’s head whips up, and she shoots me a glare. “I’m the maid of honour; of course I have to be here! Also, Ayden doesn’t affect me as much as you think, Ana. I was more worried about what he would have done to Dylan.” She says and cups her son’s cheek.“I wouldn’t have allowed him to do anything to either of you. But, Dee, we will need to introduce him to my fath
Anastasiya“Open the gate!”“What? Why- oh my God, are you here?!”A giggle from the other side. “Yes, doofus, now open!”I kill the call and run downstairs; Dakota is here! Oh my God, my best friend is here! I haven’t seen her since she checked into rehab after Ayden’s abuse; her parents then sent her to a private school, and she worked for a few years at her mother’s fashion house in Paris. We’ve kept in contact, though.Running out of the mansion doors, I see her Bugatti Veyron pull up and sprint towards her. We shriek as we see one another and run into each other’s arms, crying like babies.I then push her away and take in the sight of her, sighing as I do so - she looked exactly like her mother—Blonde, curvaceous, perfect size 10, tall, blue eyes - gorgeous.“You look amazing, Dr Dereon!” I say, giving her anoth
AnastasiyaWhy did this have to happen, and why with him?! How could I have been so goddamn stupid to think I could slip out for one last night of freedom, and now I’m stuck with him constantly in my thoughts. His hands all over my body, his face in between my legs, his hand gripping my throat as he pounded away inside of me… Fuck, it was the best night of my life.Argh! This is annoying! How do I forget about him?! He pisses me off to no end, and now he’s seen a part of me I’ve always kept hidden. HIM! The bastard who made a fool of me on my first day at St Leonard's. I know he’s hated me all this time since I was the one who called off our engagement. Trust me; the feeling is mutual. How did I not recognise him? He doesn’t look that much different from our high school days, except for his hair colour and tattoos on his face. It must have been the alcohol clouding my damn judgement.God, I need
Everything is fuzzy on the drive home. I'm not even sure how I managed to drive back to Hell's Kitchen, much less shower and get into bed. What the fuck is wrong with me?Anastasiya Volkova is the reason I am no longer in line to take over from my father. She's the one who rejected our engagement in high school and made me look like a fool in front of my family. I must admit I was a little asshole back then, but it didn't warrant her rejection of our engagement.Fuck sakes, I need to get her out of my mind; it would do no good to dwell on the night we shared together.I sit back on my couch with a Scotch in my hand and breathe out a sigh. What the hell happened to Anastasiya when she left St Leonards? She used to be this prim and proper girl who used her name to get places. It seems like Amaranthe's death took its toll on her, a little more than I thought. It’s understandable, I guess since she was very close to her mother, but to completely
