I wake up in the infirmary. It’s one of the first buildings we created. Kale and Katerina are smiling at me as my blurred vision adjusts.

“Oh my goodness Davina, you scared me to death,” says Katerina.

“Derek would kill me if anything happened to you,” jokes Kale.

“What happened?”

“You collapsed,” Kale informs me.

“Why didn’t you tell me,” whines Katerina.

“Tell you what?”

“That you’re pregnant.”

“Oh. I wasn’t a hundred precent sure. This doesn’t feel like my last pregnancies.”

“That’s because it’s not like your other ones,” says Katla as she enters the room with my uncle Gabriel.
