Ava's P.O.V
We both walked towards the safe, I opened it and it looked like a mini vault containing money enough for 12 generations and a manilla envelope. While Summer was trying to bring out all the money in the safe, I just took the envelope and opened it. There were pictures of me in it, taken at different times and years, since high school days, up until yesterday afternoon before we left school. "What the hell", I shouted dropping the envelope on the floor, summer rushed over and picked the pictures up, she gasped when she saw the pictures too. "This is giving off a border line obsession vibe, this guy needs an appointment with a psychiatrist" she said. she moved over and gave me a hug."you are fine and safe Ava" Summer said. The pictures was a trigger for me, it felt like I was being stalked and that was what happened 12 years ago, when my parents died. I was 10yrs at the time, I came back from school to see my parents dead body in the living room, with pictures of them scattered all over the floor. "Let's leave, you should rest now" Summer said, guiding me to the door. I looked around to see she had put the money and pictures back in the safe and closed it. "Thank you " I mouthed as we left the Home Office. ** 2 months later** "Congratulations baby, I am so proud of you" I said as I kissed Summer on both cheek. " Go stand with her, so we can take pictures of you guys" Summer's mom said to me smiling. I moved over to Summer's side, she held my hand knowing fully well that I was scared of taking pictures. After the second flash of camera, I started feeling sick, so I ran to the ladies room and threw up. Summer held my hair as I puked and she was also rubbing my back. "I'm so sorry my love, I didn't know it was this bad, I wouldn't have asked for your pictures to be taken" Summer's mom, Mrs Murdock said as soon as we stepped out of the ladies room. "You should go for a proper check up, to be sure, no triggers of any kind, my dear" Mr Murdock said to me, touching my neck to know if there's a rise in temperature. I smiled at him, while holding on to Mrs Murdock, I started feeling dizzy, so I apologized to Summer and her parents before taking my leave. Ted already had the car waiting, with Andrew opening the door for me. I felt really sick, so I told Ted to take us to the nearest hospital. After all the test, I was given a drug to help with the vomiting, while I wait for the results. A nurse came and told me, I could go see the Doctor now, I asked Mark to come in with me, as I was scared of what the result could be. After we sat down, the doctor looked at us and said, " Congratulations, you are 8 weeks pregnant miss Ava" I looked at the Doctor and asked her if she was sure, she was correct, I'm not pregnant, how can I be pregnant and not know I'm pregnant. Wait, I don't know what it feels like to be pregnant in practical. I kept yapping. "Miss Ava, take a deep breath, from your file, I see that you have a history of irregular menstruation, so I understand why you wouldn't notice early, this is a good thing, unexpected, yes, but it's a blessing" The doctor said. I was crying at this point, " when you register for antenatal, we have a program that walks pregnant women like your self who are not mentally ready for a baby, through the acceptance part, you have to understand that a life is growing inside you and it needs you" The doctor said to me again. I nodded, took the test results from her and stood up, "thank you so much doctor" I said before leaving her office. Mark was walking behind me cautiously like he was waiting to catch me when I fall. On the way to the house, I was crying in the car, how am I supposed to do it?, Bring in a child to this world without a father?, can I even be a good parent?, how do I juxtapose being mother with medical school?. All these thoughts were running through my mind, that I didn't realize we were already at home. When I got conscious of my environment, I tried opening the door, But, Andrew beat me to it. I got inside, freshened up and curled up on the bed. I made a decision to keep it, regardless of what the future holds. I couldn't bring myself to take a life. I called Summer and told her about it, she came in the next day, with a lot of supplies, and baby clothes. I looked at them, wandering what's happening. "I got different colors of baby things, pink Incase it's a girl, blue in case it's a boy, and mint green Incase the baby decides to be gender neutral, I'm so confused, do you think this is enough, are you hungry, do you feel sleepy, I don't want you to do any work" Summer said looking at me, trying to force me back to bed. "what's actually going on here, Summer" I said amidst sobs. "Hey, we will figure it out together, as for school I spent time figuring it out, you are 2 months gone and there's a 3 month Break before school resumes again, that's 5 months right, and we can get you registered for posting at the school hospital for your internship, and we have the M.D sign that you attend it, he's a friend of my father, so that part is covered, when you give birth, we hire a nanny, I'll help with the kid and you can focus on school and therapy" Summer said holding my hands. "Therapy?, really?" I said smiling faintly. "Yes, Therapy cos you need it baby, you will be a great mom and look at the bright side, I live here with you now, I already talked to my house keeper on my way here and she has agreed to be our live in nanny, so everything will be great, we'll take it one step at a time and we will figure it out" She said resting her head on my shoulder.Five Years Later Ava's P.O.V "Good morning mommy" I heard the twins say, as they ran into the room trying to climb the bed. Oh, I know what you are thinking, yes, twins. it wasn't easy dealing with the news after the ultrasound detected two normal heartbeats. I sat up and drew them close to me. "How are my favorite boys doing this morning?" I said, snuggling my face on each of their stomachs. "Fine. Mommy, is Aunty Summer coming today?" Leonard said "Yes, Mommy, Aunty Summer promised to take us to the park today" Leighton said. I looked at both their small faces, they look like a miniature version of Raymond, they were so handsome, people always gifted them stuffs when we go out. "Aunty Summer will not be coming today" I said looking at their dejected faces "However, we can still go to the park together" I said smiling. "Really Mommy?, Thank you" Leighton said holding my neck. " Thank you Mommy" Leonard also said, playing with my hair. "Ok, every body down, so w
Raymond's P.O.V Mark's security team still give me updates on Ava and the kids, I was surprised when I heard that she gave birth, at first I wasn't sure if they were mine, but when I saw their two year old pictures, it felt like I was looking at me when I was 2years old. This prompted me to ask Mark for help, with Mark's help I was able to get hair samples from the kids and when the D.N.A test arrived, it confirmed that the kids were mine. I have been getting updates on them ever since from Mark. Bella and I have been married for 5 years now, and we've only consumated our marriage once, and I was drunk when that happened. We have a son together, André, he's 3 years old now, too smart for his age. However, our marriage has been nothing close to blissful. we rarely talk or see each other. we live in different rooms and Bella is rarely at home, I know this, but I don't care as we don't owe each other any obligations. I woke up to Mark's text, it was an update on where they will b
Ava's P.O.V I just got off the phone with Summer. I can't stop pacing the room, I couldn't get Raymond and everything that happened earlier out of my head. I felt stupid cos for a minute there when I saw his face, I just wanted to melt into his arms. All these years, all these pain and that was the first thing that I felt, not anger, not pain, not hurt. My heart betrayed me, how could I still want him after everything, he's married for Pete's sake. The most scariest thing of all was the thought of him taking my kids away from me. After what seemed like years of pacing aimlessly in the room, I went to check up on the kids, they were still sleeping, I went out back. I needed air, so I went to the Stable, to Nyx, when I saw her I felt this strange comfort, just being where she is, just looking at her gave me strength, I took her out for a ride. After a while we came back. I rested my forehead on Nyx' head and stroke her body. As soon as I got back inside I slept off immediately,
Summer's P.O.V Being back home alone is amazing and comforting, Ava and I have been friends since forever, still I couldn't truly tell her how I feel. I feel bad for lying to her by telling her I was fine. I am not, I am angry, scared, betrayed, I couldn't tell her the truth cos I know she's going through her own stuffs. "Ma'am, the meeting will be starting in 5 mins" Jasmine, my secretary's voice dragged me out of my thoughts. "Ok, Thank you Jas, I'll be there. Are the partners here?" I asked as I stood up. "Yes ma'am, they are in the boardroom waiting"She replied. "Alright, Thank you" I said. we left my office and headed for the boardroom, Jasmine was filling me up on recent Market news. As we entered the boardroom, I could feel all their gazes on me, I tried not to look affected, tho' it's hard to act like that, I don't know how the news of my disengagement with Chad got out, but the press won't let it rest and everyone looks at me with this weird pitiful look and a million u
**Third Person P.O.V** Summer was lost in thought, pondering what to do as she just has few hours left to conclude the deal with Raymond, Then she heard someone knock on the door. She opened the door and saw Ava at the door. Summer didn't say anything and neither did Ava, after what seemed like hours of staring competition. Summer: Are you going to say what you came to say something or should I close my door?. Ava gave an awkward smile, before raising the bottle in her hand. Ava: I brought wine. Summer: Really?, I'll close the door now, thanks for stopping by, I guess. Summer was about closing the door, but Ava stopped it with her hand pushing back on the door. Ava: Can I come in please?, I need to talk to you. Summer: Come in then, and say what ever you want to say quick, I was in the middle of something. **SUMMER'S P.O.V** I really wasn't expecting Ava here and what's with the bottle of wine if she's only here to tell me I shouldn't bother with Raymond and besides, it's 6p
**Raymond's P.O.V** I had given up hope before I saw Summer's call. After the call ended I quickly freshened up, got dressed and left the house. I got to the restaurant by 7:22pm and Ava wasn't there yet. I sat down and after 15 minutes I made an order for the both of us, because I knew what she liked to eat. I had waited. I had just finished placing the order when she came in. She really knew how to make an entrance even without trying. She looked so beautiful in that green dress, the tiny straps gave way for you to see a beautiful neck, the pendant resting on it. The Satin dress clinged to her curves. She had grown out her hair, it accentuated her face, she wasn't wearing makeup, just a lip gloss that makes you want to pull her in and kiss her alluring lips. When she got closer, that familiar scent almost drove me over the edge. I was lost for words just standing there, then I heard her speak. Her voice as always did its magic on me, I didn't really hear what she said. I was
Ava's P.O.V I was supposed to go to Summer's house and tell her what had happened, but I needed to clear my head first so I just headed home instead. When I got home I saw Summer's car in the garage. I let out a disappointed sigh before entering the house. I checked up on the twins, they were already fast asleep so I went to my room where Summer was sure to be in. Summer was lying down on the bed with a novel in hand and as soon as she saw me, she dropped the book and sat up straight. "I've been calling you and you didn't pick my calls, typical you Ava" She said as soon as I stepped in and without waiting for a reply, she continued "I'm guessing it went well since Raymond called to tell me he'll come sign the contract tomorrow morning but what I don't get is why you look like death" She said I took in a deep breath, sat on the sofa and removed my shoe as I was trying to collect my thoughts. I finally had the words to say to Summer "Well, I'm glad he said that. congratula
Third person P.O.V Ava didn't sleep all through the night, the thoughts of facing Raymond kept her awake. She stood up by 7 am to start preparing even though the meeting with Elder Sphinx (Raymond's Father) wasn't until 10 am. She got the kids ready for the day's lesson and also made their food before going in to her room to prepare, when she stepped out of the house it was 9:13 am already. She and Mark joined Ted in the car and she told him their destination. When they arrived at the Sphinx' mansion she was too nervous to go inside, after minutes of silent meditation, she finally found the courage to knock. The door was opened by one of the maids who ushered her in. minutes later, another made told her Elder Sphinx will be joining her soon. She was more concerned about seeing Raymond than she was about seeing his father and that made her really nervous. "Doctor Ava, I'm sorry for keeping you waiting, I hope I didn't keep you waiting for too long" Elder Sphinx said Ava loo
**At the Police Station** Ava watched as Giovanni was taken to a cell, she and Raymond wrote down their statements and she left the building while Raymond stayed back to talk to the officers. "Why didn't you text me?" Raymond asked her as he came out. "Has he said anything about the whereabout of my kids?" Ava asked instead of answering Raymond's question. "Not yet, the officers are positive they will get it out of him before the day ends" Raymond replied. "Alright, I have called Ted, to come pick me up, you can go without me" Ava told him. "No, I won't. Hey look at me" He turned Ava to face him. "It's my kids too, I also want to find them, so if you have any lead please let me know " Raymond pleaded "It's not really a lead, Summer sent me this address" Ava showed him the address on the phone. "And you want to go alone, we don't even know if they were working together " "I don't think so, she was the one that told me about Giovanni " "That doesn't prove anythin
*_Mr. Armando's Warehouse_*Ava looked around the mansion; the gate was hard to see, carefully hidden in a camouflaged way. Bodyguards were stationed at every point in the compound, some even stood by the waterfall. Ava couldn't help but wonder who or what needed that much protection. As Giovanni parked in the compound, two bodyguards rushed to the car as if they were expecting them. The car door opened, and Giovanni stepped out, ensuring he opened the door for Ava. She smiled at the bodyguards, but they kept a straight face. Ava looked at Giovanni, who was talking to one of the other bodyguards.Upon entering one of the warehouses, Ava saw that it was a fully furnished house. "Miss Ava, welcome to my little home," Armando announced. Ava looked at the man for a brief second; if the circumstances were different, she might have fallen for that smile."Hello, it's nice to finally meet you, Mr. John," Ava said."Oh, John is Giovanni's biological dad; call me Armando," he corrected."Alrig
*_In Giovanni's car_*"So, do you want to tell me why your dad is with my kids?" Ava asked. She watched as Giovanni moved to face her better."Remember how I told you my mom died in an accident?" Giovanni asked. When Ava nodded, he continued."Your dad set the car on fire," Giovanni explained."That's not true," Ava countered."Except that it is. My mom was such a huge fan of the Smith's Fashion brand. She had every kind of cosmetic they produced. My stepdad was a friend to your dad, so he took my mom to meet your dad, and she was really happy. One day, we were at the mall picking up a few things for my stepdad when my mom saw your dad. She told me to wait so she could meet up with him. He walked her to her car, and I don't know what they talked about, but the conversation got heated. When she made to open the car door, he threw her on the floor."Giovanni forced in a deep breath."Are you sure you remember correctly, because your story isn't really making much sense?" Ava said."If y
***The Murdocks*** Summer woke up with her head banging. She opened her eyes slowly and scanned her environment. She remembered what had happened earlier, and her heart raced, thinking about the boys. She stood up immediately, but the wave of pain that hit her body made her lie down slowly. Her parents rushed to her side. "Oh, darling, I'm so glad you're awake. We were so worried," her mother's voice was teary. Summer sighed at the hypocrisy. "Where are they?" Summer ignored her mom. "Who?" Mrs. Murdock explained. "You were alone in the car when we found you." "Oh, please don't bullshit me. Dad, where are they?" She turned her gaze to her dad. "Honey, it's as your mother explained. We met you alone and unconscious," Mr. Murdock explained. "Oh, Dad, you are so evil. You promised to spare their lives if I brought them to you. I was on my way here. Couldn't you wait a few more minutes?" Summer cried. "Hey, darling, your father and I really don't have anything to do with that. We
***Summer's Residence**** When she arrived at Summer's place, the door was locked. She opened it using the spare key Summer kept under the foot mat and found the house empty. Ava called Raymond and explained everything to him. However, she couldn't take his outburst and disconnected the call. Then, she called Giovanni, explained the situation, and shared her location with him. She also texted Giovanni and Raymond the gate's code. Sitting in front of Summer's house, Ava cried, feeling guilty for blindly trusting Summer despite Raymond's warnings. Her kids could now be in danger. Ted stood beside the car, watching Ava. When she heard a car drive in, she raised her head. Giovanni rushed towards her, and she stood up to hug him immediately. Raymond arrived moments later, seeing Ava crying on Giovanni's shoulder. He walked towards them angrily. "Where are my children?" Raymond shouted at Ava. Giovanni stepped in between them. "This is not the time for blame, Mr. Raymond. We need
**Summer's Residence** Ava was about to knock on Summer's door when it swung open. "You've never smiled so sheepishly at me like that," Summer said, eyeing Ava's expression. "I knew you were snooping," Ava replied with a sigh. The kids heard her voice and ran to her, sharing stories and laughter. After spending time with them, Ava turned to Summer. "Why don't you take the day off from babysitting?" "Don't you have to go to the hospital today?" Summer asked. "I don't; I'm free till Monday," Ava replied. "You're trying to get rid of me because you don't want me to ask about Doc. John," Summer teased. "Giovanni," Ava corrected. "Excuse me?" Summer asked. "Giovanni, not Doc. John," Ava explained. "Oh, I forgot you guys are on a first-name basis now," Summer joked. "This is what I was avoiding," Ava smiled. "What kind of friend do you need right now?" Summer asked. Ava thought for a moment before responding, "The friend who'll mind her business and not ask unn
**Giovanni's Residence** Giovanni (Doc John) arrived at his mansion, and his security opened the gate, letting him in. Ava gazed at the house, wondering why he acted surprised when he saw her place. The house was twice as big as hers, and the yard was equally larger. The house itself resembled an ancient Roman palace—magnificent and royal. 'This man is full of surprises,' she thought to herself as she looked at him. "Your house is magnificent. Why do you work as a doctor if your family has this much money?" Ava asked curiously as Giovanni stepped out of the car. "The same reason as yours, Mon Chéri. It's more about passion, and my family is not as rich as you think," he said, opening the door for Ava. The interior of the house was breathtaking. She told herself her guess was right; it had to be some kind of ancient palace. "I don't have any live-in maids, so what would you like to drink?" Giovanni asked casually. "Water is okay, please," Ava replied. Giovanni nodded
***Ava's Residence***Ava was feeling restless, after minutes of thinking about what Giovanni (Doc John) said, she called Summer."Hey, what's up" Summer said at the other end of the phone."I'm fine, how are the boys doing?" She asked."They are helping. Leonard, Leighton, Andre, come say hi to Mummy " Summer called the kids. The three boys tried to fit themselves in front of the screen, they talked with Ava for length, even the shy Andre chattered excitedly. After the conversation had taken it's course, Ava asked them to give the phone back to Summer."You still going on that date with Raymond?" Summer asked as soon as her face was back on the screen."I don't know, Raymond saw Giovanni here" Ava sighed."That doesn't seem to annoy you, the fact that Raymond met Doc John at your place, I mean" Summer stated." Not really, it doesn't. I'm only bothered about Giovanni, We had a good time yesterday and now I'm scared Raymond has ruined it" Ava rubbed her forehead." I don't think thing
***Ava's Residence*** Ava woke up with pains in her neck region, she tried to move but she couldn't, there was an extra weight pressing down on her waist. Giovanni's scent filled her nose and she realized the warm hard surface her face was resting on was Giovanni's chest. She tried to pry her self free but she stiffened when she felt Giovanni stirred and pull her closer to himself, his both hands wrapped around her tightly but his eyes remained close. Ava thought he looked so handsome, she placed her free hand on his cheek, she stretched to kiss him but was interrupted by a sudden knock on the door. She tried to pry herself free but Giovanni rolled her on top of him, she wasn't expecting that so her body had no time to react, the knock sounded again but more hasty this time. "Good morning, I have to get that" She tried to stand up, Giovanni held her pinned on top of him and kissed her forehead. "Please let me get that, it's most definitely Mark checking up on me since I came ho
