As Mr. Stark looked at Maria with a mixture of irritation and amusement, her threat didn't seem to faze him as much as she had hoped.

"You underestimate me, little girl," he replied coolly. "I'm not one to be easily intimidated. I have dealt with much more dangerous situations in my business dealings."

But Maria's determination didn't waver, and she met his gaze head-on, saying, "I may be young, but I have learned a few things from you during our 'arrangement.' I know where the skeletons are buried in your closets, Mr. Stark."

Calmly, he leaned back in his chair, a hint of intrigue in his eyes. "Is that so?"

"Oh, you think I'm playing... I knew a day would eventually come, so that is why I have kept evidence of our little trysts, just in case. I'm not as naive as you think." Maria said with a smirk.

As the silent seconds passed by, Mr. Stark's amusement faded, and he regarded Maria with a more serious expression and tone, "You're playing a dangerous game, Maria."

Resting her head back, Jada closed her eyes as Ben drove her, and for the longest, she just wallowed in her head. 'I miss him.' An abrupt thought snapped her out of her mood, and Jada raised her eyelids. Then she reached for her phone, scrolling through her contacts, and stopped at Chase's number. A smile crept on her lips as she dialed it, but after three separate calls, he didn't answer, he didn't pick up, and Jada felt her heart drop a little. Hesitantly, she looked at her driver and waited a few minutes before asking, "Ben, do you know when Chase will be leaving work today?" "Well, if the boss doesn't have any extra plans, he should be home by now," Ben said, eyeing her in the V-mirror. "Then can you please take me home?" "Huh?… Yes, of course." Darting her eyes to her screen, Jada hesitated to dial his number again, and then she tossed her phone on the passenger seat, resting her head against her hands as she stared outside at the passing scenery. Minutes later, the car

Stepping her feet on the cold tiles, Jada woke from the bed and approached the window, wrapping her arms around Chase's waist as she kissed his back, whispering, "Good morning," With a smile, he turned to face her, resting his hands on her hips, and pulled her to him, a chuckle escaping her lips as he said, "Morning, beautiful." After taking her warmth in, he asked, "About Stark, do you want me to talk to him?" With a beam, Jada looked up at him, watching the tenderness in his gaze, and then answered, "Yes. But I want us to do it together, okay? I will ask Gifty to set up a meeting with him, and then we can go from there." Nodding slightly, Chase pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead and replied, "All right, babe. If you think that's best, we can do that." The rest of the morning was perfect, but as Jada was leaving the house for work, she got to the car, and then her phone started ringing. Seeing Leon's name, she felt her mood ruined as a sense of rage spiked in her. Just then,

Sitting behind his desk, Mr. Stark's phone rang, and he smiled at the caller ID as it displayed his secretary's name. "What is it?" He answered, leaning back in his chair, eyes closing for a moment. "Mr. Aniston is here to see you." Her voice came across the line, and she sounded stressed. Instantly, Mr. Stark's eyes popped open and he sat up straight, his expression becoming serious at her words. "Let him come in!" He said immediately. "Make some tea and cookies for him. " "Yes, boss!" She said before hanging up on him. Moments later, the doors opened, and Chase walked in with Jacob, and a look of fear crossed Mr. Stark's face. Immediately, he stood from his chair, walking briskly to meet them and giving an awkward smile when they stopped before him. His heart was beating fast, his breathing quickened, and he felt like he might pass out as he said, "Mr. Aniston, welcome to my office. Please have a seat. Can I get you anything to drink? As Chase stepped into the parking lot, he reached for his phone and dialed Rob's number. A sense of uneasiness nagged at him as he waited for Rob to pick up. "Rob," he said as soon as the call was answered, "Is Jada at work yet?" There was a brief pause before Rob's response came, and it was not what Chase had expected. "No, boss. No one has seen her since you left the house this morning. She hasn't left the mansion, and she's refusing to let anyone into her room." Without wasting another moment, he got into the back seat of his vehicle and instructed his driver, "Take me straight home." ~~~~~~*~~~~~ Back at the mansion, Jada lay in her bed, the room shrouded in darkness as she tried to escape her turbulent thoughts. As Jada tried to recall what she had said earlier, her expression shifted from confusion to frustration. She furrowed her brow and attempted to access the elusive memory, but as she delved deeper into her thoughts, a sharp pain shot through her head, and she winced, clutching her temples. "Chase," she whispered, her voice strained, "I can't remember. It's like trying to grasp at a foggy dream, and it's making my head hurt." For a silent moment, Chase's concern deepened as he watched Jada in discomfort. Then he gently brushed her hair away from her face and tried to comfort her, saying, "It's okay, babe. Don't force yourself to remember. It's not important right now." But Jada was not satisfied. The frustration of not being able to recall the words she had spoken earlier gnawed at her. She sat up and looked at Chase with determination, saying "No, I need to know. I said something, and it meant a lot to me. I have to remember." As she closed her eyes and concentrated, the throbbing

A while later, he reached the mansion, and its wrought-iron gates swung open with precision as Mr. Bull's car approached, granting him entry into the yard. Minutes later, he pulled up to the grand entrance, where a uniformed butler awaited him. "Good afternoon, sir. May I inquire about your purpose here today?" James said. Raising the file, Mr. Bull gave a stiff smile and responded, "Good afternoon. I'm here to see Mr. Andrew Hudson. I have some legal matters to discuss with him." The morning light shone against the papers as Jada sat at the dining table and looked at the pen. She tugged at Chase's shirt on her, a sense of hesitation, and then she felt his arm wrapped around her neck, kissing her cheek. "He's going to be so pissed," Jada mumbled, looking down at the sign paper. A spark of concern glowed in his eyes as he glowed, and he asked, "Are you getting cold feet? If you are, it's okay to-" "No," Jada said, hugging his arm and looking up at him, a smirk lighting up her face. "I owe this to Grandfather to set our family back to its past glory. No one else wants to do it, so if I have to do it alone and offend them all, so be it." With a grin, Chase leaned in, his nose touching hers, and whispered, "Who said you were alone? You got me." A smile lit up Jada's face, and he kissed her head before letting go and pulling away as she picked up the pen again. For a while, Jacob, his sharp eyes never leaving the screen of his phone, got down with the other, and then he finally glanced up from the glow of the device. His commanding voice cut through the stillness. "Master Chase and Lady Jada are coming outside with young master," Men clad in impeccably tailored black suits emerged from the shadows, their presence commanding attention. They fanned out around the car, forming a protective circle, a formidable wall of security. Each man radiated an aura of strength, their eyes scanning the surroundings with a practiced vigilance. "Don't worry, rest yourself, and this will all be over," Chase said, stroking her cheeks to calm the stress that itched on her face. Silence settled between them, the weight of their emotions intensifying in the dimly lit room, and Chase brushed his palm over his face and mumbled in his head, 'This is either going to break us up... or you love me beyond what I can ever imagine.' On the one hand, I had the privilege of being raised in a wealthy and influential family, but on the other hand, I felt a sense of isolation and detachment from it all. My parents, especially my father, were deeply immersed in the world of business. The HH Corporation was everything to him, and he had little time or inclination to be a father. I think he believed that providing for me financially was enough." Calmly, Jada approached the bed, sitting by him, and took his hand in hers, staring down at the floor.
