“Please…mummy…I beg you…I will do anything you want me to do… anything… I have to save my brother…”
“Look Isabella, feeding you and having you under the same roof is enough trouble. But, I have some good news for you.”
Isabella's swollen eyes lit up for the first time that day.
Mrs Rhoda Bennett rose, her heavy ornaments dangling at the movement as she advanced towards Isabella.
“Marry the bastard son of Walter Enterprises and well, I will consider asking my husband to save your little brother's life.”
“Getting your brother to do a Lung transplant will be much better. Of course, you know how costly it is going to take to have it done?” She said, narrowing her eyeballs.
Isabella’s brows twitched. Surely she knew of Walter Enterprises and infact had heard of the Walter bastard son but never knew him personally.
“But mummy, I don't wish to get married now…”
“Then I take it you do not wish to save your brother.” Mrs Rhoda Bennett retorted.
“No, I want to save my brother but…”
“You want my money to save your brother but don't want to do as I say?” Mrs Bennett yelled.
The echo of her yell was deadened by the entrance of her assistant.
“Ma'am. Mr Douglas is not willing to have a marriage with any other woman but Evelyn.”
“What? Me? I am never getting married to him! He is only but a bastard son. If there's anything I want is Raymond. He is hot and perfect for me.”
Evelyn whined. She looked at Isa and laughed just to make her feel jealous.
“Such a shame, even your kind does not want you.”
“Convince Douglas Walter to marry you and you will save your brother or forget about getting any money from me. And don't try playing smart by going to ask my husband for money behind my back.
You would be dead if I ever found out,” Mrs Rhoda warned Isa sternly.
Isabella had no time to waste as she hurried to Walter Enterprises. She was told to seek for Douglas at Walter Hotels.
“Good day. I'm looking for one, Mr Douglas Walter.”
The man behind the counter in the hotel briefly glanced at her and said, “Mr Walter just left. He is on his way to his car.”
Isa dashed out immediately. She caught sight of a man headed towards the parking lot and instantly knew it was Mr Walter. She ran and caught up with him just as he held his door open and was about to get in.
“Good day. Are you Mr Walter?”
The man turned around. He regarded Isabella for a moment.
“Uhrm, well, I have Walter along the lines of my name.”
“I am Isabella Bennett and I am to be your bride…I mean we are supposed to get married but you rejected me… So…” she paused, hoping she wasn't making a mess of it all.
He tilted his head, bemused. “I did? Why would I?”
“Apparently you said I am not your type but.. I assure you I'm not a bad person…I can be a good wife.”
He chuckled.
She paused wondering if she had said something she shouldn't have.
“I would never say no to someone as cute as you,” he smirked.
“Huh?” Isa's eyes went wide with bewilderment.
Before she could say another word, he started towards her slowly with his hot gaze plastered intensely on her.
Isa’s brows tweaked and she stumbled backwards. But there were only a few steps she could take as she hit a dead end. A car was right behind her. Heat flooded her face.
He stopped and his lips curled up amusingly.
“I never said you are not my type…”
“Then… why… why did you say you won't marry me…”
He inched closer.
“We are not married yet…you can't get so close…”
Her words came out in whispers. He was too close. Too close she almost felt his breath fan her neck. Her legs jittered. She had never been that close to any man but she couldn't run now. He was going to be her husband.
As he leaned up with the mischievous grin, Isabella felt her heart skip. Was she just seeing the darkest and most pretty eyes?
“I’m sorry ma'am for the mistake but here is Mr Douglas Walter.”
Isabella recognized the voice of the man she had inquired of Mr Douglas Walter from earlier on. And turned. There was another man beside the one he heard his voice. And it immediately dawned on her.
“I'm sorry ma'am for the confusion. This is Mr Douglas Walter.”
Isabella's mouth dropped open. Slowly she turned towards the man she had believed was Mr Douglas Walter. Her supposed husband to be.
He had a mischievous grin on. “Ah, and I am Raymond Walter.”
“Why did you play games with me?” She demanded..
“Earlier you asked if I was Mr Walter and I Said yes. I believe I didn't tell a lie. I should be on my way now. Do have a nice discussion.” Raymond Walter left but not without casting a look at his brother.
Isabella felt foolish. She had mistaken another man for her husband to be. She wanted to run, find somewhere and wail. But she wiped her face and turned around. The man before her looked almost nothing like the one that just left. But what did it matter? If he was truly Douglas Walter, then she needed him and didn't care for anything else. He looked anything but pleased to see her.
“Hello, Mr Douglas Walter.”
“You must be Isabella Bennett. I already sent a message to your family. I do not want to get married to you.
“Why?”
He looked her up and down.
“You are not my type. You are too fat. But most importantly you have nothing that I desire.”
Hearing the word “fat”, Isa scrutinized herself and she was nothing close to fatness. She was just slim fit.
“We both do not want this and I know you don't want this marriage any more than I do but you need my family’s name. I mean, we both need this. You need to revive your company, don't you?”
She saw she had him right at the point she wanted. It was right there, the defeated look in his face that said she was right.
“I will help you to revive your company if you marry me. What do you say?”
“Fine. Let's get married.”
******
Isabella stood staring at her own reflection in the mirror.
"Come on, why do you look as if this is your last day on earth? Cheer up. I'm sure you will come to love him. It happens. People have arranged marriages all the time and they end up falling in love. I'm sure you will be fine.”
Isa's best friend Crystal Jo has said to her in the dressing room.
Isa shrugged, “That's like one percent out of hundred of them out there. Besides, I think his brother is …”
She paused, thinking better of the words that had formed in her head without permission.
“His brother? You mean Raymond Walter? Did you meet him?” Crystal’s eyes lit up.
“Well, not exactly.”
Isa shuddered as the moment at the Walter Hotel flashed in her head. Her face flushed hot.
She bit her lip, not willing to think about that moment. How could she think of such an inappropriate thing when she was just minutes away from getting married. She shook her head.
“There you are. All dressed. I can't say the same for your husband-to-be.” Evelyn stifled a mocking laughter as she stepped in. “It's so dry outside. I can't imagine my one in a lifetime wedding this dry. Urg. Well, fair enough with your bland dress.” She added as she scrunched her nose while running her eyes down Isabella's wedding dress.
Decent but nothing extravagant.
Almost at the same time there was a light tap on the door.
Isa was being reminded that the wedding was about to get started.
She thanked the announcer and let out a dispirited sigh. She thought of Ryan. All she wanted was for him to get better. Maybe Crystal was right. Who knows, she just might end up loving this bastard son of the Walter family.
At the thought of him, she slipped out of the room in search of him. Perhaps she could catch a glimpse of him and imagine what it was to live with him.
She sighted Douglas greeting some of the few guests that came. Since she wasn't supposed to and couldn't show herself to the people yet, she slipped into Douglas dressing room and waited.
A phone started to ring
It wasn't hers. She looked and saw a phone on the table and figured it was Douglas. Stood to check the caller but the call stopped abruptly.
She looked into the screen and saw a picture of her sister.
At that same time the door opened and surprisingly Raymond Walter entered. Isa quickly set down the phone and spun.
She blinked. It wasn't whom she had expected to come.
“Why are you here?” she asked.
“What do you think? To offer my congratulations, of course,” Raymond Walter grinned.
Isa felt her heart lurch. She bit down a soft sigh. That obnoxious yet heart wrecking smile again.
“I don't think we are that close to exchanging…”
“It's my little brother's wedding. Of course I should be here.”
He proceeded fully into the room and shut the door.
But before anything else could ensure, Douglas entered.
At the sight of his brother, Isabella noticed how the corners of his mouth turned downward and his eyebrows gathered.
“Why are you here?” he asked exactly the question she had asked.
Again Raymond Walter smiled. “Of course I'm here for my brother’s wedding.”
Douglas scoffed.
“Brothers,” he chuckled.
“And look, I even brought you a gift.” Raymond made a show of the parcel in his hand.
Douglas stared stiffly at him for a moment before he reached forward to get a hold of the parcel but Raymond retracted his hand.
Isa felt a stuffy icy air between the two. She had heard of the silent war between the Walter brothers over Walter Enterprises succession. And now she was witnessing it first hand. She imagined she and her sister Evelyn having a go at each other over the succession of Bennett's construction company and shuddered at the thought of it.
Raymond advanced slowly toward Douglas and stopped just a little above an inch. Leaned in and whispered something into his ears that had Douglas shrinking back.
“What? Are you crazy?” Douglas barked.
“Congratulations little brother!” Raymond called as he departed after setting down the gift he had brought on the table.
Isa wasn't able to hear whatever it was he had told Douglas but the anger in Douglas eyes told her it wasn't something nice.
“That psycho…how dare he show his greedy face at my wedding…” Douglas fumed.
After a moment he recollected that there was someone else in the room. His wife to be.
He faced Isa squarely.
With a hint of irritation laced in his face, he asked, “What did you talk about with him?”
“What?” Isa stuttered suddenly. What had she even talked about with him? She remembered nothing except the fact that he had the most enchanting smile she had seen.
“Forget it. But for your own good, I say you keep away from him. Nothing good will come from speaking to a psycho like him.”
Isa merely nodded. Not like she wanted to get herself involved in the fight of two brothers.
“Let's go,” he said as he extended her arm for her to link hers.
Together the two started outside. For their wedding.
There wasn't much to it. Isa very much preferred it that way too. Very few people attended. She had the chance to meet Chairman Walter and the two women in his life. Isa noticed the women stared at her in a way that seemed as though they were observing her. Later one of the women came to her and introduced herself as Douglas' mother.
Later when the wedding was over and everyone had left, Isabella went to meet her mother.
She wasn't sure it was alright to show emotions. But still she couldn't not show it. This was the home she had known all her life.
“You don't need to stay here with us anymore. You should go to your husband's.”
“Mother, about the money…”
“You don't need to remind me. Go home to your husband's and we will discuss this later.”
“Yes mother.”
Isa had heard that the Walter family owned a mansion in not just New York City but in some other states in the United States.
Since the headquarters of Walter group dwelt in New York City itself, the family owned a multi million mansion in the Upper East side. And that was where they were headed to.
She sat at the back of the Ford Mustang with her newly wedded husband.
She slid a sideways glance at him. The image of her stepsister she had seen on his screen reared up in her head again. She shut her eyes and drew in a deep breath. She just needed to stay calm. It was only a picture, and secondly it wasn't as if she felt something for him. It was just a marriage of convenience for them. He could have any picture he wanted as his screensaver.
The car eased into an estate and minutes later, they were driving into Walter Mansion.
“Oh my…The famous Walter mansion,”
The words left Isa’s lips before she could think.
Bennett’s house was great too but Isa clearly saw that it couldn't rival the Mansion before her.
As she stood in front of the gigantic mansion, she couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. It stood tall and proud with its grand entrance beckoning her to come closer.
“Are you not going in?”
Her awe fluttering moment was interrupted by Douglass.
“Uh… yes I am,” she stuttered and started into the house.
“I need to pick up something quick at the office. The servants will show you around. Why don't you settle in until I get back,” Douglas said, turned around and hurried out of the house.
The high ceilings adorned with stunning chandeliers that cast a warm and inviting glow fell upon her the instant she stepped onto the exquisite marble floors.
“Welcome ma'am,” one of the maid servants came forward.
“Let me show you to your room ma'am,” she offered.
Isa nodded warmly at her and followed her lead.
The servant woman led her past the extremely huge living room, up the stairs through the long wide hallway past a couple of rooms and finally stopped before a room.
“It has been cleaned and well maintained.”
She thanked the woman and was on the verge of asking her for a tour around the house but couldn't.
She decided to have a look around on her own. Chairman Walter and his wives hadn't arrived yet. It was just the servants home. So she thought it would be fine. She casted another look at the room and sauntered out.
Isa had taken a few steps outside the room when she heard a sound coming from one of the rooms. A clattering sound.
Unable to wave the curiosity aside, she slowly made for the door. Held the doorknob and pulled. Only to bump into a wall.
“Ouch!” She cried as her eyes swung up to see the figure she had just knocked into. Raymond Walter. Surely he wasn't equally living in the Walter mansion. Men like him usually preferred living in their own houses away. But her eyes caught the obvious casual home outfit he had on.
She gasped. “What…you…what are you doing here?”
Raymond frowned. “Me? That's a strange question to ask. Don't you think so?”
His lips curled up into a grin Isabella thought was his customary smile.
Realising she had just asked the silliest question. She bit her lips. “This must be your room…” she muttered quietly, nervously smoothing out her dress that didn't need straightening.
She looked at his messy coloured hands and her eyes darted past him into the room.
“You can draw?” she asked, amazed.
“You want to come in?”
Her heart skipped. “Me? Come in?”
“Why? You don't want to come in? Why? Are you having some dirty thoughts in your cute little head?”
She flinched back, cheeks red hot embarrassed.
“Stop saying things that ain't true! Why will I come into your room?”
With a stump, Isa whirled and dashed out.
Outside, she froze to a stop, wondering why she had to overreact when he had only asked a simple question. Again, she reminded herself she was now a married woman.
MARCH 2023ONE YEAR LATERNEW YORK CITYIsabella drew in a slow breath. She watched as Doctor Miles pressed his stethoscope on Ryan's chest and plugged the end into his ears. He listened for a moment and nodded satisfactorily. “He is alright,” he said with a smile.“He just needs to take his medications and eat well.” He added, ruffling Ryan's hair gently. “Thank you so much, Doctor Miles.”Doctor Miles squeezed her shoulder, dished out some instructions to the nurses. He casted another warm smile at Isa, patted Ryan and trotted out with the nurses. Isa watched them until they disappeared out of the room. Then she grabbed her brother and hugged him tight. “Thank you Ryan… thank you for staying alive… thank you for not leaving me all alone…” She mumbled, dragging in what seemed like an emotion swaying wind.Later when Ryan fell asleep, she pulled the covers over him and just watched him sleep. It was the most peaceful she had seen him sleep. A year ago she had embarked on an arrang
A month after their wedding, Isa, not able to get rid of that memory, had brought it up with Douglas and Douglas had assured her she had nothing to be afraid of. In his words, he had come to adore her and was willing to let go of his past love yearnings for her sister. Why wouldn't he? She had sacrificed a lot for him. She had been there for him, the company had stayed afloat and he was grateful to her. And no, she didn't regret any of it. But why was she feeling…uncertain? Why was she feeling so uneasy…so anxious? There was a rap on the door and a second later Isabella's assistant walked in beaming with smiles. “Ma'am, it's all set now. The commissioner will be on air soon. I think the announcement will be made soon. Congratulations ma'am,” Miss Clara announced.Isabella sprung to her feet and grasped Miss Clara’s hands. “Really?”“Yes ma'am,” Miss Clara nodded.“But… What if I got it all wrong? What if he announced a different place? What if the commissioner announces South Str
She looked away and swept past him ignoring the pitiful look he had on. She just wanted to run. Away from everyone, everything. “Isabella!”He called behind her but she didn't stop. She continued to run. Breathless. But it was nothing compared to the feeling of storm that had swept through her and the weight of sadness that had settled in her chest. Just as she was crossing the road, she ran into a speeding car. “Isabella!!!”That was the last Isa heard. Up High in the sky she flew and on the ground she landed. Blood splattered. Without struggle, she gave into the darkness reaching for her. Before Raymond Walter got to the spot, the driver maneuvered his car and zoomed off.He definitely knew what would become of him after realizing the victim he struck down is one from the Walters Family. With mouth opened in shock and heart throbbing in pain, he cupped Isa into his broad arms. He pressed her body against his chest. His heart was begging her to hold on and wait till he got to
“Her parents knew I never wanted her as a wife. Isa knows herself. She knows that I have always wanted her sister and not her.We just had an agreement.”“What kind of agreement?” Raymond asked a bit perplexed.“She got married to me to save her brother's life and take my company's name to the top.”Douglas smacked his lips at his last words and shot a glance at his wrist watch.“I think I will get going now. I need to catch up on something.” He said and turned to leave. Just then, Doctor Miles walked out from the theater wearing a tiresome look.He reached out his hands and shook the two men, “Congratulations! She will be fine.”At the end of Doctor Miles’s words was a long, gloomy look.“Is it alright, if we go in and see her?”“I am sorry…I don't think she would recognize any of you.” Doctor Miles dropped what sounded like a bombshell.Douglas didn't seem concerned but he needed to listen to know his next plans.“What do you mean, Doctor Miles? Are you trying to say that she lost h
Isabella wakes up in the hospital. She squeezed her eyes with difficulty for some minutes before they finally opened.“Where is this? Where am I?” She mumbled softly, narrowing her eyes. She felt weak and empty. She tried to lift her legs but she couldn't, so she rather curled it up like a newborn baby.“What I'm I putting on?” She mumbled and scrutinized herself in a hospital gown.“Is this a hospital? Oh! no, hope nothing happened to Ryan?” “Ryan…” She stuttered and burst into a silent cry.Just then, a nurse walked in.“You are awake.” The nurse exclaimed and placed her mild palm over Isa's forehead.Isa dragged off the pulse oximeter clipped to her fingertip and tried to climb off the bed.“No. Don't. You just had surgery. I will go and call the Doctor.” The nurse placed Isa back in a proper position and hastily ran to call the Doctor.“Surgery? What does she mean by surgery? Aaah…my head hurts…” Isa cried out, cupping her head with her palm.Doctor Miles trots in with his nurses
At Walter's residence, friends and well wishers trot inside the over furnished sitting room in Douglas's quarters.Mr Walter wanted to help in the little way he could even though it was hard. He knew it might take some time before Isa's memory could come back.At least, it would be better than undergoing another surgery. That’s the reason he insisted on having a get together party, hoping that Isa's memory reconnects. He threw a glance at Isa smiling at some people that came by to introduce themselves. She looked really pretty wearing those smiles but her happiness would have been complete if she didn't lose her memory.Moments later, all attention diverted towards a figure. It was Raymond Walter wrapped up in a black designer's suite. “Oh! Son, you came back right on time. You closed the deal quite fast, I guess.” Mr Walter said, hoping nothing had gone wrong with the deal.Raymond halted halfway as his gaze fell on Isabella. He swallowed a lump and let shivers run across his spine.
Douglas pulled the car to a halt in front of Evelyn's Mansion. It was no longer something new for the duo as he drives her home regularly. Especially as Isa lost her memory. He knew it would be hard for Isa to smell a rat around them.In the tinted car, he plastered several kisses on her forehead and cajoled her into having a quick sex with him.As if not enough, he still wouldn't let her leave the car. The thought of going home to meet an empty woman with no memory irritated him. He wished they could spend more time together until he finally finds a way to divorce Isa.Meanwhile, Evelyn was buried in her own thoughts. Thoughts about Isa.What if Isa's memory comes back and she doesn't sign the divorce papers? After all, it was her biggest efforts that raised the company's identity to the top.Wait a minute, what if Isa has been pretending to have a memory loss? What if she paid the doctor to give everyone a fake health report? After all, nobody witnessed her accident. What if she is
So she manipulated Mr Bennett into having a cold heart towards Isa.Some months later, the news of Isa's Mom dying in a ghastly accident spread like wildfire. Isa became so hopeless. She neither ate nor spoke with anyone. Her whole world came crashing down on her head. Ryan was abandoned and brought to her. Seeing him added another torn to her heart. He had a kidney disease that nearly took his life but…Isa's memory began to breach at this point. She squeezed her eyes so tight, wishing it wouldn't stop. She continued holding on, despite the excruciating pains she was feeling in her brain. It was as though she was in a trance. Everything around her was quiet and cold. It was as if she was reborn and starting her life all over.As everything replayed in her memory, her heart was racing and inching for the end. She wanted to see the end of everything and know how it all happened. Then it came. The answer to the query that lingered in her head appeared before her eyes. The sounds of moa
She had a grimace on her face as her eyes scanned through it.“Let me take a look.” Raymond said and she gave it to him. His lips parted in shock and disappointment. He shot a hostile glance at the pathologist and felt like strangling him.“You had the original results in your briefcase, why then did you choose to tell us lies?” Raymond shrieked at him.“I am sorry.” Mr Fabian pleaded with a sober voice.“There's nothing to be sorry about. I know quite well that this is the same reason why the Government is desperately searching for you.” “You go about, giving people fake or forged results. How do you feel after doing it?” Raymond's tenor voice sent cold shivers across Mr Fabian's body.“Do you even think of the damage or pain you bring to those people?” “You hide the truth from those that desperately need it.” He said, his veins all popped out around his neck. He felt a little bit of exhaustion. His last words emerged out with a faint tone.“Who paid you to do this?” Raymond asked
At this point, Raymond couldn't ask for anything more. Their goal was to run an autopsy and walk out with the results, not to make a poor innocent man lose his job. They watched him as he went inside the frizzy room to speak to the anatomist on the phone. Raymond had no choice than to let him do his own part of the deal.“He will be here in at least twenty minutes.” He whispered to them as he walked out of the room.“So we could quickly go out and grab a drink, right?” Raymond requested, cutting an eye for Isabella.“Yes, you can go.” He replied with relief. Raymond seems to give him a hard time. While they were away, he wished they could disappear and never come back. To him, Isa wasn't the problem but Raymond was the problem he had.Minutes later, they both walked back inside the office energetically. Isa was holding two cups of the creamy juice.“You can have this too. You are a good man.” She said and handed a cup to the morgue attendant. He collected the creamy juice with a grin
Raymond couldn't stand it anymore. He couldn't stand eavesdropping on the morgue attendant. He heard everything the latter said to Mrs Rhoda Bennett. He angrily pushed the door open and walked towards the man, stopping some inches away from him.Isabella didn't feel his absence. She was petrified the moment she saw her father's cold body. “Are you trying to sell us?” Raymond started, noticing the man's trembling lips.“What I'm I even saying? You were actually selling us, huh?” Raymond said and saw the man trying to hide his phone behind him but he grabbed the phone from him and went directly to the last call made. His jaw dropped in shock. He had actually assumed that the man was speaking with Mrs Rhoda Bennett but it was only an assumption until now.“So you are her accomplice?” “That's why you persisted on seeing his bio before letting us get access to him?” Raymond asked bitterly.“How much were you even paid?” He asked rhetorically and punched his fist in the air.“You know wha
Isabella and Raymond both narrowed their eyes in confusion. They got their mind wandering like wildfire. There's a lot of dots that need to be connected. For goodness sake, Mrs Rhoda Bennett earlier told the Corp that she went for an urgent business meeting.Since it was urgent, what time did she get to still register Mr Bennett's body to the morgue?Talking of how she walked inside the mansion; like she heard the news on reaching the gate. She even passed out in front of everyone. It could be that she heard the news during the meeting and went straight to the morgue from there.Or what is this whole thing all about? The witch is so smart that nobody has ever caught her in all her acts.“Please sir, what time was Mr Bennett registered yesterday?” Isa asked, curiously.“Ma'am, I'm afraid but I can't tell you anything more until you provide the original copy of the bio used to register him here.” The man replied and pinched his brows.Isa cast a tiresome glance at Raymond.“I can't be
On the express road to the city, Raymond had to ask for directions to the hospital where the ambulance came from.He couldn't bear seeing the look on Isabella's face anymore. She looked so pathetic, embracing the brown envelope like it meant the whole world to her.“Isa, I don't like what you are doing right now.” He mumbled and pressed the deceleration button. “What I'm I doing?” She mumbled, trying hard not to look up at his face.“If you are confident that you did nothing wrong, why then are you avoiding looking up?” He asked, keeping his gaze glued at her.Isa kept mute. She couldn't feel the breeze from the high speed of the car. She imagined that something had gone wrong and finally looked up to check for herself.“Just the traffic.” He responded before her eyes met with his.At that moment, she swallowed a lump. She felt wet tears gathering in her eyes. She must have been deeply in tears that's why she didn't notice it on time and now, Raymond's gaze. She just wished that he d
She stubbornly struggled with him. Corp Bellick's rage heightened instantly. He forcefully locked her wrists inside the cuffs and escorted her to the Hilux. He didn't care anymore. She must have thought that this case would turn out like the numerous cases where they got a special order from the general not to meddle into Bennett's family affairs. Not anymore. Not when Mr Bennett died a cold death. He knew the general and of how much he hated Mrs Rhoda Bennett.Perhaps, he would use this opportunity to reopen her formal cases; the cases that were buried due to Mr Bennett's influence.Mrs Rhoda Bennett turned around and her last gaze fell on Isabella.Isa bit her lips. She could feel the pit of her stomach churned in excitement. This is exactly how she would punish each and everyone of them. She knew that in no time, she would be granted bail. She assumed she would use Mr Bennett's burial as a key excuse. She didn't care, she just wanted to do what she always wanted to do.“An autopsy.
“But you know what, I aren't acting any drama this time around. I'm doing this for the safety of my health.” Mrs Rhoda Bennett mumbled and snapped her fingers.Isa ran her eyes over the latter's body in scrutiny. No matter what she said, she wasn't ever going to take in her words. She felt this was the only opportunity for her to pay her last respect to her father. That last picture of him couldn't leave her memory. She continued replaying his soothing voice in her head. She wouldn't have believed it if someone had told her that it would be the last time she would get to see or speak to her father. At this point, she felt like giving up on everything; her revenge plans. She felt like backing off and running away to a far away land.Because for some minutes, she wondered what would be her yield if she eventually won the battle.Would she be the only person to celebrate her victory? Her Mom and her father have joined their ancestors. What if she backs off and disappears to a far away c
Back at Bennett's mansion, Raymond drove into the compound at a high speed. He drove in with a high speed, not expecting to see any other car in the parking space except for Mrs Rhoda Bennett's car. There was a black Acura parked beside Mrs Rhoda Bennett's car.As she climbed down from Raymond's car, she stared intensely at the car. “It's just a car. Why are you mopping at it that way?” Raymond teased, following her gaze.“C'mon, we have to go in. Once everything is over, I am going to get you exactly this type of car if that's what you want.” He added and jammed the car door.Isa's gaze wouldn't tear off one bit from the Acura car. It didn't seem as if she was staring at the car in admiration. The car reminded her of something. What exactly? She mumbled to herself and racked through her brain.“This car looks familiar, right?” She asked Raymond with a curious glimpse.“I don't think so.” Raymond replied with a shrug.“If you say so.” She responded and turned around to go into the ma
Just as Evelyn walked her Mom to her room, she made her lie on the bed and tossed the duvet over her body, allowing it to stop around her shoulder. She paced to and fro, thinking of the next steps to take. She had heard Douglas offering to walk the Corp around the Mansion, the pit of her stomach churned in uneasiness. What if the Corp finds something? No way, she would definitely go and find them and restrict him from going into some areas.Just as she was about to leave, her Mom called her with a soft voice.“Evelyn, come back.” Mrs Rhoda Bennett mumbled and puffed out hot air, shoving off the duvet from her body.Evelyn was astounded. She turned around and saw her Mom already seated straight up on the bed.She lost her words for a few minutes.“Mom…I thought you passed out.” She stammered, advancing towards the bed.“Hmmm…” Mrs Rhoda Bennett muttered with a scoff. She tilted her neck sideways for a crack.“I had to do what I knew how to do in order to tear off accusing fingers that
