I’d barely had any sleep last night, my mind still tangled with worries and unanswered questions. As I entered, I was surprised to find Antonio in the kitchen, wearing an apron and busily flipping pancakes.

“Good morning,” I said, trying to sound cheerful despite the fatigue weighing down on me.

Antonio glanced up briefly, his face impassive. “Morning,” he mumbled, his attention quickly returning to his pancakes.
