Amelia felt apprehensive as she left the confines of the Salutary cabin, knowing that all eyes would be on her once more, she dread the thought. She knew that she’d hate every second of it. She’d always been such a private person but would now be paraded around in front of strangers. Feeling like the outsider made her heart pound even faster than when she first met Jax and Blake. If only she knew that Jax could hear her heart pounding as he led her outside.
Having Jax by her side made her more at ease. Walking through the compound still had her nerves on end, not fully knowing what to expect. She already noticed some dirty looks from the other female pack members.
Jax took it upon himself to show Amelia around the compound, even though her mother had offered to do so. She was glad that Jax was doing it as that would hold much more clout when it came to respect from others.
Jax pointed out where the Omegas without parents lived, which looked like a boarding house building. The cabin was huge and could easily hold fifty to a hundred people. Is this where she would be living? Alone with strangers who’d already taken a disliking to her. Seeing the fear cross her face, Jax said, “you’ll obviously live with your mother. There is no reason to keep the two of you apart and I’m sure you’ll feel more comfortable that way.” Jax once again felt Amelia’s heartbeat speed up as they walked past the Omega building.
Amelia simply nodded her head and agreed with Jax, when she was in fact leaping with joy inside. Just the thought of living there made her skin crawl. Living with her mother would be perfect as they had so much catching up to do. “I’m extremely grateful that you’re taking time out of your busy schedule to show me around the compound,” commented Amelia. She felt safe with him and enjoyed his company. “I’m sure that you have more pressing business to attend to than to babysit me.” She felt a slight blush brush her cheeks and hoped that he didn’t notice it.
“It’s only my pleasure. No inconvenience at all. We, Blake and I, want you to feel at home here. You are now, after all, part of the pack.” Jax had a radiant smile, one that lit up his chocolate-brown eyes. Eyes that Amelia couldn’t stop staring at. He truly was an amazing specimen of a man. Kind and thoughtful yet deadly when he needed to be. The way he fought off the rogue wolf still flashed before her eyes, causing gooseflesh to appear on her arms. The way he moved and stalked his prey was mesmerizing.
Eyes flittered their way as Jax and Amelia passed by the training area. Both boys and girls alike took interest in their stroll around the compound.
Amelia’s beauty was natural, she barely wore any makeup and the boys seemed to enjoy having a fresh beautiful face around. A new girl to fight over for affection or even just the time of day.
Amelia blushed as she realized that she’d caught their attention, a hue ever so lightly upon her cheeks once more. Her kohl eyeliner made her eyes even greener than usual. She wore her hair loose hanging down her back. Jet black and straight. She truly was striking to look at. A true beauty with a heart of gold.
The girls on the other hand didn’t look too excited about a new girl in the pack. They saw her as competition when it came to finding a mate and were already jealous that Jax was spending so much time and attention on her. Their looks almost bore holes through the back of her head, but she tried to shake it off and concentrate on her conversation with Jax.
She heard a boy mention something about ‘new eye candy’ as she walked by and Jax immediately gave him a look, with a slight growl, that scared him enough to make him immediately turn around and return to his training. A red face, embarrassed before his pack brothers.
Amelia noticed that the Beta wolves were nowhere to be seen, although they were there when she’d first arrived. They were most probably out for a run, a daily task, ensuring that the compound was safe and that no rogue wolves were lurking in the woods keeping watch on their pack.
The mere thought of turning into one of the Omegas scared the life out of Amelia. She had no intention of ever turning, although she knew the possibility was high.
“May I ask you a question?” asked Amelia shyly as she and Jax stopped just outside the dining hall, which was bigger than all of the other buildings in the compound.
“Of course. You may ask me anything,” replied Jax, a look of peace on his face.
“What will become of me now? I keep asking this question and no one wants to answer me.” Amelia felt quite frustrated and rightfully so. “I have no idea what I’m doing here and I don’t even feel as if I belong here. I feel like a fraud.” Amelia fiddled with her hands again, her nerves getting the better of her, anything to try and stop Jax from noticing them shaking.
“Now you become one of us. We are now your pack. Your family. This is your new home. You will live with your mother and learn the way of the wolf. You will train with the other Omegas and become strong and confident. This is your new life and the sooner you accept it the easier it will become for you. I know that it’s a lot to take in, but you’ll see that in time we will feel like family.” Jax felt sorry for Amelia, her world so suddenly turned upside down. Her plans for her future were no longer as she’d imagined them. “I know that this is a lot for you to take in, but I promise you that life will get easier as the days go by. You will still be allowed back into the human world, but only once you have perfected turning without needing to attack.”
“I feel like an imposter and an outcast,” said Amelia with a deep sigh. “I have no clue what I’m supposed to be doing.”
“We all feel like that the first time we find out that we’re a wolf. You are not the first one to join our pack after being bitten by another wolf. Some of the Omegas have gone through exactly what you are going through now and they’ve fitted in perfectly. You’ll soon begin to feel at home. Just give it some time.” Jax was a knowledgeable man and so easy to talk to. Amelia almost forgot that he was a Second and someone who she should be taking orders from, not having these private discussions with.
“What is this place?” asked Amelia as she pointed to the impressive building standing in front of her. It was a double-story building almost twice the size of the Omega one and looked like rather an important one.
“This is the pack hall and where we hold our meetings, pack meals, and festivities,” stated Jax, excitement in his eyes again. “This is where the family comes together each mealtime to bond and relax. You’ll be joining us this evening and then you’ll see that it’s not that bad being part of our pack after all.”
Amelia didn’t seem too convinced that she would easily fit in, but she at least had her mother to speak with during dining time. She already knew that the girls didn’t like her much. She saw the looks they’d given her when she walked past with Jax, she’d heard the chatter between them. Chatter which caused giggles and stares. Amelia immediately knew that making friends would be a difficult task.
“I’m not too convinced that I’ll find many friends quite easily,” said Amelia as she looked around the huge expanse of the room, noticing its grandeur. “The girls didn’t seem too keen to have a new stranger in their camp. Let alone a new girl. The last thing that I want to cause is unrest in the pack.” A wave of sadness overcame her. She hated feeling out of place or not wanted.
“The girls will quickly get over themselves and you’ll see that they don’t mean any harm.” Jax could sense that Amelia was soft-spoken but he didn’t doubt for a second that she’d easily make friends.
Jax wanted to keep her safe by all means. But he knew that he needed to let her go so that she could find her place in the pack. He just prayed that the girls wouldn’t be too nasty, as he’d seen that happen before.
But he would deal with that. You could count on it.
Hi Everyone Will Amelia be able to make friends or will an enemy emerge and make her life a living hell? Read on to find out. Cheers Charmaine
Amelia met her mother back at their cabin, and Jax accompanied her all the way. He would never leave her alone to the wolves, no pun intended. They made small talk as they walked back, Jax asked her why she was in the clearing that day. And she explained her weekly routine of going down to the stream to ‘speak’ with her mother. Hoping against all hope that she would find her there alive. There was an air of sadness on both of their behalf as they reached her mother’s cabin. Neither wanted to leave the other’s side. Their bond was already so strong. It honestly frightened them both. The one not knowing what the other felt. Both were too afraid to say anything about it. They secretly kept their feelings to themselves. Lucia’s cabin was the perfect size for the two of them. It held two bedrooms, a living area, a kitchen, and a bathroom. They needed nothing more for most of their time would be spent either training, in the dining hall, or in the human world. Something that Lucia could no
Her almond-colored tanned skin shimmered and her striking green eyes seemed to glow brighter than usual. Another change thanks to the rogue’s bite. A change that she actually liked for she had always wanted her skin to look tanned and not pasty white like she thought it did. She tied her roman sandals and smoothed her dress down, readying herself to leave the cabin and face the pack’s watchful eyes, alone. She had neither Jax nor her mother by her side and the hall was quite a walk from her cabin. Amelia took a deep breath to steady herself and applied her lipgloss. She checked her long dark hair as it hung halfway down her back, everything had to be perfect. This was her first impression on the pack and she wanted it to be a good one. “You can do this!” she said to herself, but she knew that it would take all the strength she had to walk past the strangers without looking afraid or uncomfortable. She hated being the ‘new girl’. She mustered up the courage and bravely opened the doo
Amelia realized that she had so much to learn about pack law and felt rather ashamed at what she’d done. The last thing that she would want was to anger the Alpha. He had been so kind to her and allowed her to stay in the compound in the first place. As she walked around the crowd she seemed to seek Jax and Blake out. She couldn’t help herself. She easily picked up their cinnamon and sandalwood scents, even though there were so many scents in the room. Both elicited feelings within her, feelings she wasn’t yet ready to explore for she didn’t know what they were. They intrigued her. They were each so different yet both had such a profound effect on her. Amelia spent most of the evening with her mother, speaking with the other Salutaries. There luckily happened to be one her age. Her name was Catherine and she was absolutely beautiful. Flawless. And the beauty of it all was that she was blissfully unaware of it. She was quiet and kept mostly to herself, not wanting to be caught up in a
Stephanie didn’t stay with Amelia when Jax walked away. She simply gave Amelia a dirty look and sauntered off to her little click of friends. Swaying her hips as she walked.Amelia could just see from her body language that she was the leader of that click. She spoke to her friends very animatedly. Arms and hands flew in the air, with a lot of head shaking going on. The next thing Amelia heard was her name being mentioned and then the entire click looked back at Amelia laughed and gave her death stares. Amelia just knew that that click would mean trouble and made a mental note of staying as far away from them as possible. Enemies were the last thing that she needed, especially because she was the newbie of the pack.Jax and Stephanie were, in her eyes, an item. If only she’d known. She would never come between Jax and his mate. She’d already been warned by her mother that that was frowned upon by their Alpha and the last thing that Amelia wanted was to piss Blake off. Especially afte
Amelia decided it was time to make a beeline home. The last thing that she needed was a run-in with the ‘it’ girl of the pack. She touched her wound which had begun throbbing. She still couldn’t believe how her life had changed in a matter of just one bite. But it was something that she now had to accept, there was nothing that she could do about it. “I was waiting for you to come over and tell me that you’re leaving,” said Lucia as she smiled, bent forward, and hugged her daughter goodbye, “take another dose of the medicine as soon as you get home. It’s best that you rather get back and go and rest. Tomorrow is another busy day for you here in the pack. Tomorrow you get introduced to the training for the Omega rank that you will join the pack as. It is best that you get to know the other Omegas as soon as possible, that way you can make some friends and better settle into the pack.” Fear overtook Amelia and she began to visibly shake. If only her mother knew what went down between
Jax meandered back to the hall. He was in no mood to be a part of the festivities now that Amelia had left but he had to stay until the end. It was expected of him as the Second. He’d barely entered the hall when Stephanie, the fiery redhead, was at his side. “What do you want now?” he asked not even trying to act interested in a conversation with her. He’d been watching her throw herself at every Beta to try and find a mate. Something that she would never get right with him. Straight after she tried with Blake. “Can’t I just come over to say ‘Hi’ again? Is it such a crime?” she fluttered her eyes at him and he had to stop himself from doing an eye-roll. She was so fake and he saw straight through it. “I don’t have time for idle chit-chat. Especially after the stunt you pulled earlier. I would prefer it if you didn’t touch me as you had earlier. It is unnecessary and embarrassing for you. You know how I feel about you. There will never be an ‘us’, so please remember that,” said Jax
“Any news about the Staint Claire pack?” Asked Conner, Alpha of the Olden pack. “No Alpha, nothing to report yet. Their compound is shut tighter than ever before,” reported Christian, Connor’s Second. “We need to find a way in. They must have a weakness that we can exploit. This is really starting to piss me off!” Connor’s fits of anger made the windows in his cabin reverberate. “We’re trying out best, Alpha. We’re sending out our best Scouts but they come back with no news at all.” Christian hated giving Connor bad news. He knew that it would make Connor all riled up and riddle him with anger. “Then I’m going out there myself!” Shouted Connor, as he rose from his chair, pushing it so hard that it slammed into the cabin wall, “if you want something done right then you clearly have to do it yourself!” His face was blood red with anger. He had been waiting for so long for his Scouts to one day come back with good news. But nothing. They always came back empty-handed. Half of the pac
Connor was headstrong and put together the strongest hunting pack that he could. He obviously included Christian, his best Beta, as well as Pierce, his Second. The pack was stacked with their strongest wolves, but Pierce knew that they were no match for Blake’s. He just had to find a way of making sure that he didn’t get killed in the bloodbath that he was sure would ensue.Connor stayed at the compound. It was too risky for the Alpha to be out for in case a war began. Losing an Alpha would be catastrophic. There was no talking Connor out of the attack, Pierce tried but failed. They were going through with this attack come hell or high water. Connor was an Alpha on a mission.Pierce braced himself and left the camp with Connor, knowing what was waiting for them. Knowing that they were walking into a death trap.***Blake’s Hunters were readying themselves for a daily run. They patrolled the area around the compound at least twice a day and this was their morning run. They didn’t exp
The first three days of their holiday flew by and it saddened them both. They had, however, done so many excursions and experienced most of what the island had to offer. They’d gone for walks on the beach, shared spa treatments, and bought cocktails on the veranda of the hotel, overlooking the bright blue ocean, a view that they would never get used to as it was like something out of a travel brochure. They’d left their scuba diving until the last day. They wanted it to be the last thing that they remember doing together on their holiday. Something that was high up on Amelia’s bucket list. They boarded their boat and took sail on the beautiful blue ocean. It was so clear that they could see to the bottom sandy bed, where the coral and fish were even more beautiful than they had expected.Amelia sat in the crook of Blake’s arm on the boat, holding his other hand in her lap. She loved being so close to him, smelling his sandalwood scent made her feel safe and calm. The boat stopped at t
Blake searched for Sly in the crowd and found him speaking animatedly with his hunters, excitement on everyone’s face.“Congrats again,” said Blake as he stopped by Sly’s side and shook his hand, “you really deserve the promotion to Second. The way you lead your men is exemplary and I’m really proud of all of the work that you’ve done. Thank you for always giving it your all, it doesn’t go unnoticed. You are one of my strongest fighters and I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side.”“Thank you, my Alpha,” responded Sly, happy that his Alpha had noticed his work ethic and love for his pack.“I will be going on a business trip and I’ll need you to watch over the pack, please. I leave tomorrow morning and I’ll be gone for four days.” Blake was certain that Sly was up for the job, even though he had just been selected as Second.“Of course, my Alpha, I will watch over the pack with great care. I have already selected a 2IC in the hunter’s team, so that is all sorted out for the morning and
Blake was sitting in his office chair looking out of his window, watching the people and cars go by when an idea popped into his head.He needed to take Amelia away somewhere. Somewhere special, but it needed to be a surprise. She was so good at sniffing out surprises that he had to be extra sneaky about it. He would have to disguise it as a business trip stating that he needed her there to take minutes as he would be having many meetings. He only hoped that she would fall for it. All that he wanted was to spend some alone time with her. Without the entire pack watching their every move.Blake called their travel agent. “Hi, Celeste,” he greeted as she answered the phone. “I would like your assistance in booking a trip, please. I need two tickets for The Maldives. It will be for both Amelia Brighton and myself. We will be leaving tomorrow morning if possible please.”Celeste looked online and made the booking for Blake, business class of course. “All set Mr Saint Claire. You leave at
Lucia and her team were finished decorating the hall and, feeling satisfied with the results, she walked to the entrance hall and called Blake in to come and inspect their work.He was blown away by the final product. He had seen it earlier but had not imagined that it would turn out this marvelous. His eyes roved the hall taking in every little detail, every little bit of care that Lucia had put into her work.“Thank you to you and your team, Lucia. You have really ensured that this celebration will be a worthy one and for that, I am extremely grateful.” Blake was one who easily gave out compliments when they were earned. And as far as he was concerned, Lucia had earned hers. She had worked magic with barely enough time and Blake knew that no one else would have been able to achieve what she had.The hall looked like a forest clearing. Lucia had brought in trees, rocks, etc. Everything needed to reenact the scenery needed. She’d done such an amazing job that Blake felt as if he was i
Lucia and her team were feverishly busy with putting together the final arrangements for the special event of naming the new Second.Blake had kept hush-hush about who his selected Beta was. Only the Elders knew, not even Amelia. And he thought it best to keep it that way. He didn’t want it to get out and for everyone to know before the actual reveal.Blake walked around the compound. He had been checking on the training of the Omegas, Deltas, and Betas. Something he loved to do because he wanted to be prepared when he needed to select new Deltas or Betas. He needed to know who was fairing well and who was not. He also liked to be ‘seen’ by his pack. Not just locked up in his cabin, dealing with pack business.Jax used to be one of the trainers and it saddened Blake when he walked around the compound and didn’t see his face. Jax had become such a strong pillar of the pack that things just didn’t seem the same without him and Blake doubted that it ever would.Blake popped into the hall
Amelia walked silently back to the compound with Blake, still shocked over what had just happened.Had she really been kidnapped and then saved? All in the span of a few hours. How did it all happen so fast?Shock kicked in and Amelia began to shake. Blake took hold of her hand and tried his best to calm her down by rubbing his thumb along the back of her hand, but he could feel that he was having little effect as she shook all the way back to the compound.Blake thanked his men for their hard work. Sent some to the Salutaries to be checked out and the others to their cabins to rest.Blake, however, took Amelia straight back to his cabin to try to calm her down.Blake sat her down in the chair and, holding her hands, knelt in front of her.“I thought I’d lost you,” said Blake with a sadness in his eyes that she’d never seen before.“I thought I was going to die. Stephanie has threatened my life so many times that I thought today might just be the day that she got her wish. I shudder t
The car picked Blake and Amelia up and they headed off to the office.Blake looked so handsome in his black suit, black hair, and black eyes. Amelia couldn’t help but want to be in his arms that very moment. She wore a pencil-length black skirt and a lime-green shirt which once again showed off her beautiful eyes.“You look like a knock-out,” commented Blake as she entered the car, “I’m not sure that I want the other men at the office seeing you like this.” He joked and Amelia couldn’t help but giggle. She loved his sense of humor.“I’m not sure that I want the other Secretaries to see you looking so sexy in your tailored suit,” winked Amelia, and Blake’s smile almost reached his ears. They made such an attractive couple that it was sickening.Amelia settled in at her desk and began typing up some contracts when her landline rang. It was the receptionist from downstairs.“Hello, Amelia speaking,” answered Amelia, thinking that it was reception letting her know that a guest had arrived
“Hello, Connor,” greeted Stephanie as she ever so slowly entered his cabin, rubbing herself against him on purpose as she passed him by. She smelt his pheromones heighten and knew that she would have her way that evening. He didn’t stand a chance against her and her deviousness.“You look dead sexy,” said Connor as he eyed her from head to toe and then back up again.“Thank you, I know,” answered Stephanie in the most sultry voice she could muster.“Join me at the table,” said Connor as he made a sweeping movement with his hand and she walked over to the table.Connor joined her after closing the cabin door and trying to pull himself together. He pulled out her chair for her and while standing behind her could see that her dress was backless and along with the smell of her Lavender scent it drove him wild.He gently stroked his fingers over her back as he made his way around to his side of the table. He in turn had given her gooseflesh and it was evident by her peaking breasts. Conno
They drove back to the compound in silence.Amelia sat with her hands next to her legs, holding the seat, not knowing what else to do with her hands. Blake did the same. They were both dumbstruck by what had just happened.Blake’s hand slid over Amelia’s and she didn’t make to pull hers away. They drove home like that, looking at one another every now and then, but not a word spoken.Amelia asked, Just before they reached the compound, “was there even a client?”“No,” answered Blake honestly as he looked at Amelia in a new light. In a way as if to claim her for his own.“Then why did you say there was one?” asked Amelia as she bit her bottom lip.Seeing her do that turned Blake on and he could barely contain himself from kissing her again. “I just wanted an excuse to be alone with you. That’s all. And please don’t bite your lip like that…it does things to me…”His honesty hit home with Amelia and she smiled. “You could have just asked and I would have said yes to spending alone time w
