Serena’s POV:I was so stunned after hearing everything that all I could do was watch her face and not even blink."So, well, you got your answer," she awkwardly stole eyes from me and then gulped. Obviously, she knew she was wrong in that situation."Ah! No wonder when we met at an event here, he was acting weird. He even said that he used to think I was rude," I laughed as I recalled how awkward he was, yet he was trying to hit on me."Oh! That asshole," she pouted, "so she liked your version of me," Arlene joked, but it didn’t really intrigue me."He liked the rude you. It was just easy for him to talk to my version of you," I corrected her so that she knew she was likeable."Yeah! He later told his friend that he thought maybe I was high that day, and I don’t remember what I did to him," Arlene shrugged."So, he still tried to save your reputation. That is very sweet of him. Why were you so rude to him, Arlene?" I gently slapped her arm, and she dramatically winced."Ouch! Because
That night, Arlene complained for hours about Reynard and how cold he was. She even called him unromantic. It broke my heart because I knew he was only this way with her. He was pretty romantic with me. At one point, she even said she wanted someone to grab her neck and kiss her roughly. But obviously, Reynard hadn’t even held her hand till now. After speaking for hours, we finally dozed off and were woken up early the next morning by the many alarms we had set around us. We didn’t want to miss the meetup with Kai. His words had rung a bell in my head. He had heard complaints. What sort of complaints? But obviously, before all that, I had to face Daxon again. He was standing right in the way to the kitchen when I was making my way to the kitchen to hand the menu over to the maid."You slept in your sister’s room last night. Why?" He blocked my way, using a soft tone to ask me that question.I am sure he remembered what he did to me last night."Because I didn’t want to be in the room
Arlene: Do you think it is normal that he doesn’t show any affection?I was uncomfortably shifting in my seat a lot when reading her messages. I felt like she was slowly realizing there was something wrong.Me: Maybe you should avoid him or his topic for now.I couldn’t tell her directly that Reynard doesn’t like her that way because we were still in the middle of a war with Daxon, and I wouldn’t want my sister to lose trust in us.Arlene: He had been my dream; how can I ever bring myself to do that?I pouted, feeling even more agitated now that she was so confidently expressing her love for him.Me: Maybe you should learn from my case. I always thought Daxon was my mate and that I would feel a mate bond with him when I got my wolf. But look now!Arlene: Oh, right! You got your wolf. Hey, did you feel a mate bond with someone?I almost choked on the air when reading her message.Me: I will tell you later.Instead of lying about everything, I thought maybe I would just keep it a secret
After we went back to attend the guys, Kai uncomfortably shifted in his seat before he bent over the table to look into the eyes of Arlene."I didn’t believe whatever he wrote in those letters. I know how you are. I respect you!" He spoke so softly that I swear he made my heart miss a beat. I smiled and noticed Reynard. He was frowning at me.Then I received a message from him.Rey Baby: He is trying to impress her. If you want, I can write a whole book of poetry for you.I smiled widely, almost ready to laugh. I noticed the way Arlene was looking back at Kai, and it seemed as if she might be considering him as her mate. But I could be wrong.Me: What makes you think I am getting impressed too?I teased and watched Reynard give me a fake frown."Arlene! I will try my best to make sure he doesn’t do any damage to your image," Kai was confidently making promises, even when he knew her mate was sitting beside him.Sadly, everybody still thought Arlene and Reynard were mates. And the fact
"We will be strategic then," Kai said after we discussed everything with him. We had to fill him in on everything. Literally everything, including how Daxon was giving me a deadline or else he will put Arlene on trial."And you shouldn’t tell him that you know he is already making a plan to put her on trial regardless of whether you sleep ---with him or not," Reynard muttered and clenched his jaw when the mention of me sleeping with Daxon was brought up."Okay! We will head to school now," I said, as I didn’t want Daxon to get suspicious of us. I am sure he will already be, but at least he isn’t aware that Kai is with us now.The plan we made was simple. Kai will make Daxon provide him a written statement that he wants that huge donation for the orphanage. We all knew Daxon would make anything and take the money like he had been doing. Those papers and all the previous data will be used against him to demote him. It will take some time to collect it all, but I am sure three days will
Max looked irritated at my arrival because he wanted Arlene to be left alone. He must have gotten the instructions from Daxon and knew already that I would defend Arlene."Walk away, Serena!" Max voiced, making sure they didn’t break the circle and keep Arlene trapped."And why would I do that?" I asked, taking steps to reach them. The others shared a glance and smirked, probably wanting to bully me as well."And why not? This isn’t the sister you would want to protect. Did you forget how she used to make your life a living hell?" Max tried his best to pin me against her, but I have lived her life, so I am aware of everything.I noticed Arlene standing up and rushing to the corner, looking angry and probably frustrated with herself for not having a wolf."She is not the one at fault," I said, "My sister is innocent. Whoever told you all these stories is the real culprit," I was not shying away from defending her anymore."Oh, come on, don’t believe anything she tells you," he rolled h
"I can’t believe I am finally having my wolf," Arlene had been pretty excited all this time. But we knew we had to take her to the woods for her first transformation. I just couldn’t define in words how happy this news made me. For her to finally get here wolf and also be this close to getting justice from almost everyone was just amazing. Reynard had been driving like crazy to reach the woods while Arlene was constantly babbling in the backseat of the car with her hands constantly rubbing her elbows as the pain kept intensifying."Argh!" she let out a little complaint, and then I heard a crack."Umm! Reynard!" I called for him while rubbing her back, "I heard a crack," I said in a terrified tone. The issue was that her wolf was waking for the first time after being tormented a lot. We had a feeling that if she transitioned with people around her, she would go crazy and probably hurt someone. So we must take her to the woods and let her transform alone in peace."We are almost there,"
"Oh!" I blushed hard this time, thinking how weird it is that even I saw it, then how did Arlene not see it? That’s when another horror struck me. If it was that obvious, then Daxon must have noticed it too. Is that why he was hurrying up for the wedding?"Where did you get lost?" Kai asked."I am here. Actually, it is not about their wedding," I said while checking the door to make sure Daxon was not around."Oh, thank goodness—I mean, okay, then what is it?" Kai must have bitten his tongue, because I heard him let out a little yelp before talking again."She got her wolf," I said, with a bright smile covering my lips."What? really? Oh my goodness! That’s such good news," he started getting excited, making me realize how perfect he was for Arlene."But we are not telling anyone yet," I made sure he understood me, or else we will get into a huge mess."Oh okay! I get it," he nodded to himself as he promised not to tell anyone. We talked about the whole incident in school once again i
