Kate
My mouth slightly parted, trying to summon the answer to give him. His eyes also didn't waver on me. "I-"
"Dante!"
My head whipped to the tall young woman standing at the entrance door with a frown on her face. Her eyes were fixed on Dante, whose by all means expression didn't shift.
"You didn't tell me you'd be coming back home," she said, clicking her arms with Dante in a seductive way.
"I told you to always call before coming, Chloe."
"It doesn't matter. I know you missed me." And right at that moment, the two shared a kiss. It was as if I was invisible in front of them. Chloe began unbuttoning Dante's shirt, and that was when I decided to intervene. I can't have my eyes see something that will trigger what I would not be able to control.
"Um... Excuse me," I cracked out. Their attention finally reverts to me. Dante didn't wear much of an expression whereas Chloe threw me a look.
"Who is she?" she asked.
"She's Aria's new Nanny."
"Again?" She said with an eye roll. I lifted my body off the couch.
"I'm-"
"I thought you said you are not going to hire another. The last one-"
"Meet me in my study room," He said, cutting Chloe off before sauntering away with Chloe tailing beside him. My eyes lingered on their disappearing figure. It didn't take more than a minute when the man who had taken me inside made his appearance again.
"Let me show you around," he said, proceeding to walk away when I spoke up, stopping him.
"But Dante said-"
"I mean, Mr. Dante said I should meet him in his study room," I corrected, seeing the way the man was eyeing me.
"That's what I'm trying to do, Miss-"
"Kate," I completed for him. I realized I hadn't even introduced myself.
The man nodded his head. "I'm Arthur," he introduced too before turning on his heels. I followed suit. My eyes carefully assessed the sculpture statues positioned side by side in the hallway. Mr. Arthur showed me around, which by all means aren't of interest to me. We stopped at a black door after leaving three doors behind.
"This will be your room throughout your temporary stay here."
"Temporary stay?" I found myself asking, my eyes slightly widening. The man didn't answer me, instead, he turned the doorknob and pushed the door open.
I scanned the room. I didn't expect anything less from the Romanos. They are well-loaded, that one I know. "Aria's room is next door. You can check up on her later. She's fast asleep now. And you wouldn't want to get yourself in trouble by going to the room." The way he had said it made me alarmed.
"Thank you, Mr. Arthur," I said after a while.
"What about your stuff?" He asked.
"They're downstairs. I will get them up n-"
"Don't worry, it will be taken care of," He cut me off while also closing the door.
"Master's room is opposite yours, and his study room is the next one," he pointed at the two doors facing us. I nodded my head once again. Before I could summon another word, the man was out of sight.
For a house as big as this, there would be many hideous places. I know with time I will get accustomed to the whole mansion. I took a step forward towards the two doors. The one said to be his room and the other, his study room. The way the two were eating each other's lips earlier, I was very sure they'd be eating each other's skin behind the door.
I didn't think about anything as I turned the doorknob of his study room. "Oh my-" The words abruptly escaped my lips at the sight before me. Chloe was naked on her knees with Dante's rock-hard long dick wrapped in her hands while his hands were holding her hair in place.
The image penetrated through my head and sent shivers down my spine. It somehow made my pussy twitch a little. "Get out, bitch!" Chloe's words landed in my ears like a flying bee. Well, I didn't intend to stay and watch them eat each other's skin.
I shut the door not without witnessing how Dante's eyes were fluttered shut. He was totally out of it. After leaving the two to have the time of the world to themselves, I went back to the room given to me and found my bags already there. I locked the door from the inside before unpacking. After I was done, I switched the sims from my work phone to my phone and hid the work phone underneath the wardrobe. It will raise suspicion if I'm to use two phones.
My eyes were fixed on the door as I dialed Gabe's number. "Ma'am."
"I have settled at the house. I want you to lie low for a while. I will call you when I need you. If you need anything, text me through my main number."
"Sure, Ma'am. Do take care of yourself," he answered.
"Thank you, Gabe."
Gabe and I aren't family-related, but I see him as a brother. I met him through a market survey that was being conducted at the company. He works at the company and also works for me.
A knock suddenly sounded from the door, making my heart flip a bit. Mr. Arthur's voice resonated from the end. "Miss Kate, are you in there?" I slipped my phone inside my jeans pocket before making my way to the door.
I opened the door to the curious face of Mr. Arthur. "I was in the bathroom. Didn't want-" I pointed at the bathroom door which I hadn't even stepped into.
The man's expression relaxed but his eyes didn't fail to glance inside the room. "Master needs you in his study room."
"Are they done?" my mouth blurted out before I could have control. "I mean, he seemed to be busy," I added.
"He's not now," Mr. Arthur replied, retracting back. I nodded my head, forming my lips into a thin line. I could feel the man's gaze on my back as I stepped closer to Dante's study room.
This time around, I fisted my knuckle on the door. Well, to save myself from witnessing another heated scene. Dante's deep voice followed suit.
Damn! How can one have a mad sexy voice and at the same time have a big dick?
My steps were slow as I entered the room. Chills ran down my spine. I don't know whether it was from the coldness of the room or the fact that Dante's naked chest was visible to my eyes. And not only that, he was doing push-ups. Doesn't he have a gym to do that? Or was he doing it on purpose?
"You still haven't given me an answer to my question," he said, his voice getting more hoarse and sexier due to the way he was panting.
"Which question?" I asked still standing in my position. He continued his push-ups. This time around, I decided to feed my eyes with how his biceps were flexing. I could swear my throat wobbled up and down as he wiped the sweat off his forehead.
And when he finally fixed his eyes on me, my legs went weak. "Have a seat," he gestured to the empty seat facing his desk while he grabbed his seat still shirtless. He can't tell me he was planning on staying that way.
"I know your type," he commenced. My brows creased in confusion.
"Sorry, I don't get you."
"You act innocent and pretend you're righteous when we all know what you want. It's either the sex or the money."
I didn't know when a chuckle escaped me. "I don't know why you're saying all these, but I'm here for the job, and I mean it when I said I'm here for it," I explained.
His lips curved up into a light smile, followed by him leaning over. I was attacked by his sweaty scent. Would it be weird if I said it was intoxicating in a good way?
"That's what they always say. I'm giving you two options. Sex or money?"
I guess the media forgot to mention him being a senseless person because that was exactly what he looked like to me.
"What if I say both?" I challenged. His eyes showed a slight surprise in them but he was quick in reverting it to a smirk. For some odd reason, the smirk doesn't fit his face at all.
"You're smart. I like women who think with their brains," his eyes didn't waver on me.
He went on again. "Do you have a boyfriend?"
Okay, I was about to lose my mind for Dante Romano. "Is this some sort of love show?" I asked back. "Do you have one? I don't think you do," I continued. Something flickered in his eyes.
He still didn't say anything and continued to study me. His eyes then slowly shifted down, to my chest. "I would love to see what's beneath this fabric."
The media didn't lie when they said he's a sex maniac. I could see it all over his face. It was filled with nothing but lust. It was my turn to lean over the desk, reaching for his hand on the accord. I gave it a gentle squeeze. "Why don't you check for yourself? After all, I'm hired."
KateI was definitely going to get in trouble for this.Scratch that—I was already in trouble. Dante had told me to drop it. His exact words? "Leave it alone, Kate." And of course, I didn't. Because when a child's birthday is just a few days away, and that child happens to be the only bright thing in a house, you don't just leave it alone.Especially not when the child is Aria. Bianca stood on a stool beside me, stringing the pastel pink and white balloons I'd ordered behind Dante's back. Her sleeves were rolled up, her face flushed with quiet excitement. Arthur had taken on the job of hanging streamers and setting up the small table with a cake stand I borrowed from the kitchen. Sophia was organizing the gift bags we'd put together earlier that morning, carefully arranging them into neat rows. And me? I was in the middle of it all—passing tape, tying ribbons, barking soft instructions like I hadn't just ignored the order of the one man who hated being disobeyed. But I didn't care.
KateThe second I stepped out of the car, the air hit me like a slap.My legs felt steady, but only because I forced them to be. Inside, everything was a mess. My heart was still beating like Dante's hands were still on my skin. Like his mouth was still on mine. Like I hadn't just climbed off his lap, looked him dead in the eyes, and dared him to deal with what we were both pretending wasn't happening.I walked into the house. The hallway was quiet, and I was grateful for it. No Nicholas with his annoying smirks. No Sophia avoiding eye contact. Just silence—finally.I made it to the stairs and started up, one step at a time. The second I closed the door behind me, I let out the breath I'd been holding since I left the car.My hands went to my lips, brushing over them. They still tingled.I hated how much I wanted more. I hated that I could still feel his grip on my waist, his breath on my skin, the tension in his body as he tried not to lose it completely. I crossed the room and drop
DanteThe clink of cutlery was the only sound filling the dining room. Nicholas was already seated, scrolling through his phone like he owned the world. Aria sat beside him, legs swinging off her chair as she spooned cereal into her mouth, her hair tied in two uneven puffs. Sophia was across from them, politely quiet, stirring tea she hadn't sipped. And me? I was nursing a black coffee. Then she walked in. Kate. Her hair was loose, a little wild like she didn't bother taming it this morning—and fuck, I knew exactly why. She was in a simple shirt and jeans, nothing dramatic, but my mind pulled up the image of that same body naked, writhing under me, breathless, begging.Goddamn."Good morning," she said, her voice smooth, untouched by guilt. She leaned over and kissed Aria's cheek, smiling. And then her eyes met mine. A flash of something—something that shouldn't be allowed at a breakfast table with others present—passed between us. My grip on the mug tightened. Her lips, slightly red.
Kate"Say it," he breathed against my mouth, voice husky with want.I shivered but whispered, "What do you want me to say?"His hands tightened on my hips, pulling me flush against him, the hardness of him pressing insistently."That you'll behave."The words felt like a surrender, and yet, I wanted to say them. I wanted to be his in that way—the way he demanded, the way he commanded."I'll behave," I murmured, breathless. He smirked against my lips, and I knew this was only the beginning. His hands slipped under the hem of my shirt, trailing up my back, fingers digging into skin."Good girl," he said. "But first, I'm going to remind you exactly who's in charge."His mouth found the sensitive spot just below my ear, and I melted—ready, willing, and already undone. His mouth moved slowly down my neck, leaving a trail of fire with every touch. I could feel the pulse pounding in my throat, every nerve alive and aching for more. His hands gripped me tighter, sliding under my shirt to cup
KateI didn't hear half the story Aria was telling me. She was talking about a dream she had last night—something about a kitten with wings and her daddy turning into a superhero with lasers in his eyes—but my mind had wandered far from her story.Far from the pink bowl in my hand and the spoonful of mashed bananas hovering mid-air.I was back beneath that tree. With Sophia. And the haunted look in her eyes as she finally spoke the truth. Her grandmother. Gone. Her innocence. Sold. Her soul. Shattered. And Dante—he'd found her. Saved her. Protected her. Why?Was it guilt? Duty? Or something else entirely?"Aunt Kate?"Aria's soft voice yanked me back to the present. I blinked, startled, and realized the spoon was still frozen in front of her mouth."Oh—sorry," I said quickly, scooping the mush back up before offering it to her again. "Here. You were saying the kitten had pink wings?"But Aria didn't open her mouth. She was watching me closely now, little brows drawn together like she w
KateI froze the moment his words hit me."You haven't told me why you were in my room last night."Damn it.My fingers twitched at my sides, and for a second, I couldn't breathe. My pulse roared in my ears like a storm refusing to calm. I had hoped—naively—that he wouldn't bring it up. That he'd be too distracted by his ego or the memory of last night to care why I had slipped into his room in the first place.Slowly, I turned, careful not to meet his eyes. I couldn't. Not when my face was still burning from the cocky way he'd said "It'll happen again." As if I had no control. As if he already owned me.He didn't. He couldn't."I told you," I said quietly, "Bianca asked me to bring something and I... I must have stepped into the wrong room."It was a terrible lie. One that even I didn't believe. But I had to say something—anything—that didn't sound like I was searching for something in his drawers like a goddamn thief.I could feel his stare on me, sharp. I hated how it made my skin
