Chapter Seventy One

Steven walked into Alden King’s room and saw the old man sitting up in bed, reading a magazine.

“An unsolicited visit? Am I finally growing on you?” Alden asked as he placed the book aside.

“Hello Alden. It's good to see you.” Steven King said, as he sat on the chair across the old man’s bed. For the first time in his life, he felt like it was good to see his grandfather. The tired lines around the man’s face nipped at his heart.

“Did you drive all the way here to stare?” Alden asked, his hawk eyes sweeping over Steven.

“Err.no… I have a situation and it's not with Alden Kings Inc. It's a personal matter.”

“Okay?”

“Marie and I started out with a fake marriage. Fake because it was for convenience and we didn't love each other. So she went out with this dude and he found out. He hit her too, so of course I had him locked up. But he's threatening to drag her name through mud. And I can't have that.”

“I can see that look in your eyes. You're not killing anyone, Son.”
