25. Are You Jealous

"See you tomorrow morning; I'll pick you up as usual. No refusals." Jared said, with emphasis, to Caroline. He didn't want to miss out like that time. Caroline left for work early in the morning just to avoid seeing him.

Caroline gave a small nod, about to get out of the car.

"Carol." Jared held her back. "I hope you didn't take offense to what Jake said to you earlier." The man said it carefully. He was afraid his words would hurt Caroline.

"Don't you think about it; I don't care." Caroline said it indifferently. Although she said that she didn't care, Jake's words had really pierced her heart.

"Good, I was just worrying too much." Jared smiled at her.

Caroline no longer answered; she opened the door and wanted to leave quickly. However, Jared stopped her again.

"Here's your pay for today." Jared handed over two thousand dollars.

"Thank you." Caroline smiled and said it, then hurried downstairs before Jared could stop her again.
