"Are you okay?" Jared's voice drifted in softly, breaking Caroline's deep reverie, as if dragged away by the past that continued to haunt her. She looked up to find Jared's face staring back at her. His sincere face was soothing, and for a moment, Caroline felt free from the dark shadow that always loomed over her heart.

"Oh, nothing. Just a little tired," Caroline replied as she forced a faint smile to her lips. However, Jared knew Caroline better than anyone; he could see the emotions hidden behind that thin smile, and he knew that the "tired" excuse was just Caroline's attempt to cover up the anxiety that still often appeared suddenly.

Wordlessly, Jared took Caroline's hand, gripping it tightly.

"Why don't we take a walk this afternoon? I just ordered a new car for you, and I can't wait to see you use it," Jared suggested with a smile.

Caroline was surprised, her eyes widening slightly.

"A new car? But you gave me the best."

"I know," Jared interrupted in a teasing tone. "But this

"Who do you think you are here?" A voice echoed down the gloomy prison hallway, reverberating through the iron bars that separated the prisoners from freedom. Aalya stood tall, staring at the woman in front of her with a fierce look in her eyes, as if ready to fight whatever she was about to face. Her body was well-built despite wearing nothing more than a shabby prison uniform. The look in her eyes never showed fear, only deep-seated anger—anger at herself, at the world outside, and at Jared, the man who kept her trapped behind these bars to protect Caroline, her sister.Quietly, Aalya approached the woman who had just insulted her. She got so close that they could feel each other's breath."I'm a nobody, but you should know, anyone who gets in my way will end up worse than me."The woman glared, then laughed sarcastically, making Aalya even more wary. This prison, a place where life was rough and brutal, had turned Aalya into someone who was constantly on alert, ready for battle at

"So, she lives here?"Vincent asked the question in a voice that was almost a whisper but sounded firm. In front of him, a large house stood majestically, showing the luxury hidden behind high walls and a large, well-manicured yard. From behind the slightly darkened windows of the car, the man stared at the house with astonishing intensity. The two men at his side were silent, their eyes watching intently, their faces expressionless yet calculating.Vincent grinned faintly. He looked at the large windows upstairs decorated with luxurious silk curtains, as if sensing the luxury inside the house with just his gaze. The house indeed looked solid and elegant, just like its owner. He knew very well that Jared was no ordinary man—he was respected, powerful, influential, and wealthy. But, in Vincent's eyes, all of that made Jared seem like the perfect target, someone ready to be taken down.He rubbed his chin again, thinking about his carefully laid plan. There was something much bigger he w

"Honey, you don't have to wait for me for dinner, huh. I'll probably be very late tonight." Jared's voice sounded soft but a little tired on the other end of the line.Caroline let out a small sigh, trying to hide her disappointment. "Okay, Jared. Don't push yourself too hard. I'll go home first.""I'll catch up as soon as my work is done. Don't worry."Jared's voice sounded reassuring, caring as always, but he still couldn't erase the loneliness that was starting to creep into Caroline's heart. Caroline walked slowly to her car, trying to convince herself that everything was okay, even though she knew there was something stirring inside her.The fading twilight brought a cold chill to her skin, while the road Caroline was walking on was slowly deserted. She entered her car, sitting for a while in the driver's seat as she let out a long breath, letting the silence fill the narrow space inside the car. Her hands grabbed the steering wheel, ready to drive the car and head home. But the

"Caroline home?" Jared's voice sounded heavy as he spoke into the phone. On the other end, the voice of one of his men sounded hesitant."Sorry, sir. At this late hour, Mrs. Caroline has not arrived."There was a long, pressing pause on the other end of the line. Jared felt his heart skip a beat, and a feeling of unease creep through his body. Normally, Caroline would always let him know if she was going to be late or going somewhere. This time, however, there was not a single message from her. Even in all his busyness, Jared could still feel something wrong slowly looming. With every second that passed, the anxiety grew. He stared at his phone screen, hoping that a new notification would pop up, but there was only a suffocating silence."Search for him! Follow all possible paths from work to home. If you find anything suspicious, let me know immediately."Without waiting for a response, Jared hung up. He pressed his fingers to his temples, trying to think clearly, but fear was beginn

"Is there any new news?" Jared asked. He looked at each of his men gathered in the meeting room. One of them, Lucas, seemed to hesitate for a moment before finally speaking, "We've searched several locations that he often uses as hiding places, but there's no sign of him, sir. He's really hard to track down."Jared gave a small nod. Although his face remained impassively calm, his heart was filled with bubbling anger. Max had kidnapped his wife. The man had not only disrupted Jared's life, but had also destroyed the peace that he and Caroline had spent so long building together. There was no room for forgiveness."Have you checked all his old contacts?" Jared cast a glare at them, making sure no one was trying to avoid his gaze. "I want everyone who's ever worked with him or been in his circle searched, until we know where he is."Lucas lowered his head slightly before answering. "We've contacted several former members of his group, sir. But most refused to cooperate or claimed to kno

"Caroline." The voice whispered in her ear, a low and sly tone flowing from Max's lips, who looked at Caroline with an intimidating gaze. "Why do you have to behave like this? I want nothing but your favor."Caroline stared at Max with indescribable feelings—anger, fear, and disgust—mixed in her gaze. Max stood just a few steps away from Caroline, his face wearing a small, suffocating smile. He stood there calmly, carefree, as if he had never felt guilty for the pain he had caused Caroline. But behind that calmness, his eyes held something darker, a terrifying obsession."Let me go, Max," Caroline said, her tone trembling, though she tried to speak firmly. "You have no right to keep me here. Jared will find me, and he'll get me out of here."Max just snorted, as if Caroline's words were a joke. Unhurriedly, he stepped closer, cornering Caroline even further. Her body was pressed against the wall, and the small space made Caroline feel even more trapped. When Max extended his hand, Car

"I just want you to realize that I'm doing all this for us. All of this is for you and me." Max spoke in a soft tone, his smile faint as he approached Caroline.Caroline turned her face away, disgusted by Max's words. She knew all too well what this man was doing to her family. Caroline's hands clenched tightly into fists, holding back the anger that welled up in her chest. She had harbored hatred for Max for too long. And the closer Max tried to get, the stronger her desire for revenge for everything he had done became."Don't touch me, Max. I'll never feel anything towards you but hatred. You've ruined my life, destroyed my family, and you think I'll forgive you? Are you that petty?" Caroline said sharply.Max smiled sarcastically at Caroline's statement. He didn't flinch or feel afraid. On the contrary, as if unaware of Caroline's determination, she stepped closer, as if she thought Caroline's resistance was just a game. After arriving at the car, Jared started the engine and drove the car towards home. On the way, he envisioned the evening he had planned. Caroline must have prepared something special. When he arrived home, Jared opened the door and was greeted with silence. "Caroline?" he shouted, hoping to find his wife in the living room. "Over here, baby!" came Caroline's voice from the kitchen. Jared rushed towards the voice, and when he entered, he saw Caroline standing in the kitchen, wearing an apron, while stirring something in a pot. She smiled when she saw her husband. "You're finally home! I've been waiting," Caroline said, stepping closer. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Caro. It's been a busy day," Jared said, leaning his back against the table. Caroline looked at him understandingly, but there was a hint of longing in her eyes. "I know, but I missed you so much. Dinner is ready; let's eat," she said, trying to cover her sadness with a smile. They sat down at the dining table, and wh

Jared sighed, sensing the sadness in Caroline's heart. He understood how important the relationship between the sisters was. "I know, Carol. But we'll see each other again soon. They're only gone for a week," he said, trying to comfort."And you know how it is. Everyone around me is having fun while I'm here," Caroline said in a tone full of unfulfilled expectations."Don't worry, I have a plan," Jared said, trying to distract Caroline. "I'm taking you to a fancy restaurant tonight. We can enjoy some uninterrupted alone time.""A fancy restaurant?" Caroline looked over, a little surprised. "You had it planned?""Yes. It's time for us to indulge ourselves. Don't think about Aalya now; let yourself have fun," Jared replied with a confident smile."Okay." Caroline nodded slowly, though her heart was still heavy. She knew Jared was trying to make her happy, and she appreciated every effort he made. After a few minutes of driving, their car finally arrived in front of a fancy restaurant wi

Aalya was annoyed and dismayed by Brian's nosy attitude. "Do you want me to walk naked on the beach? I don't want to be a crowd pleaser!" she replied, frowning.Brian stifled a laugh, further amused by Aalya's reaction. "Ah, but only I can look at you! Only I can look at you that way," he said as he stepped closer.Aalya felt her cheeks heat up at Brian's words. "Stop making this up! This isn't about that!" she exclaimed, trying to push Brian's body out of the way."Well, I just want to see you glowing on the beach," Brian said, still hugging Aalya. "Imagine how beautiful you'll look in these clothes in the sun!"Aalya tried to push Brian further, but she couldn't help but laugh. "You're so naughty, Brian! This is no time for jokes," she said, shaking her head, but couldn't avoid the smile on her face."So, why not be a little more daring? We're in Bali, baby!" This is a new beginning for all of us.""Let's make this moment special. It was a sunny day in Perth. Inside the Madison family mansion, Caroline was preparing dinner in the kitchen. She sang her favorite song while stirring the pasta, a smile never leaving her face. Aalya, who was now closer to Caroline, helped by chopping vegetables."Ouch, Aalya, don't cut them too big! It'll be hard to eat," Caroline said with a laugh."I know, I know! Is it small enough?" replied Aalya in a joking tone, showing the cut vegetables that didn't quite meet Caroline's criteria."Yes, yes, good. I just remembered we have to prepare dessert. Do you want to make brownies or chocolate cake?" Caroline asked, getting excited."Brownies! I love brownies! Let's make them!" Aalya replied cheerfully. Their voices filled the kitchen, creating a warm atmosphere in the house.Meanwhile, in the living room, Jared was talking to Brian.
