part 2: Chapter Six

“Hey, Aria. It's good to see you again.”

Raising my head slowly, I was greeted by a pair of amber eyes staring intensely at me. “Dave?”

Those amber eyes still gleamed as bright as they had, but with that shaft of nostalgia, I felt a tingle of nervousness I had not looked for. I made myself smile and turn away, trying to collect myself. I didn't need him to see the effect his presence was having on me.

Dave sat down next to me, and he reached out his hand to Nixon. "Thanks for inviting me out here, Nixon. "

Nixon shook his hand and waved him toward a chair. "I'm glad you didn’t reject my invitation."

Dave scooted his chair closer to mine, and I did my best not to raise an eyebrow. I could see Lena trying to keep cool, her eyes were flying from one of us to the other. I didn't blame her for this. At best, it was awkward.

The waiter came over, and we all ordered. Then, just as he nodded and wandered off, Nixon made a half-hearted effort to break the ice. "So, Dave, what's the plan now
