View MoreKate's POVI was staring at the wall forlornly when I heard the door open. Thinking it might be Arya, I lost my cool. “Get out or I will rip your head!” I said, trying to suppress my anger. “I'm sorry ma'am, it's just that…” The voice sounded terrified and timid. My head snapped around to see the maid that had followed Dante out minutes earlier. She was clutching a bundle of clothes and staring at me with wide terrified eyes. I instantly felt guilty for scaring her. Imagining that she must be thinking I was no different from Dante after all, I softened my tone.“Sorry dear, I thought you were someone else,” I said, trying to keep my voice as gentle as possible. She seemed to hesitate, but ultimately entered the room, shutting the door behind her. She walked across the room, her head lowered, and respectfully dropped the bundle of clothes on the bed beside me. “Mr Benedetto said to help you change into the dress,” the maid said. I glanced down at my chest region where Arya had e
Kate's POVI suppressed the urge to squirm beneath his body, but it was extremely hard. Right then, all I wanted was to sink into his skin. I wanted to wrap myself around him and let him fill me. And every second that passed brought me closer to doing just that. I teetered on the edge of insanity, the taste of his lips driving me crazy. Luckily, just the instant before I completely gave in to my irrational desires, the sound of glasses breaking brought me back to my senses. I leaped back from Dante with my heart in my throat, my body nearly going into paralysis with fright. When I saw the maid frozen at the door, her eyes wide with embarrassment, I felt like the ground should open up and swallow me. “That's it. I'm gonna remain red forever in an eternal blush,” I muttered under my breath as I locked eyes with the still stunned maid. The next moment however, Dante's words brought us both to life. “You're fired!” he said. The maid's eyes widened even more, if that were possible.
Kate's POVUngraceful? Yep. But did I care? Nope! I sure as hell wasn't going to give an evil woman like that some face, public or not. Plus…I still wasn't ready to face her after the stunt I pulled. “Katherine!” I heard my uncle call, flabbergastment obvious in his voice. I felt guilt wash over me. He was the only one that truly cared for me after all. I deliberated whether to stop and go greet them properly after all. In the moment of hesitation, I wasn't completely focused on the door ahead. As I burst through it, I crashed into someone. The next instant, flutes, glasses and bottles of assorted wines crashed on me. I quicky rolled away to avoid more of them, then stood up in dismay. My clothes were ruined. The very next instant however, my dismay was replaced by shock and surprise. “Arya!” I gasped. What was she doing here? She smiled wickedly and before I could react, emptied the one bottle that survived our collision on my head. Furious, I raised my hand as high as I cou
Kate's POVScowling, I declined the call. I knew I would have to face her sooner or later. After all, Vera can't keep sleeping over at her boyfriend's forever. But right now, I wasn't in the mood for her trash talks. The phone rang again. And again. And again. “Who's that?” Dante asked. “My aunt,” I replied. He turned back to the road, his face expressionless like usual. But I thought I detected the ghost of a grin. “She was royally pissed at being disgraced that way, you know. From what I gathered, she's trying hard to keep it under wraps,” I felt a sort of vindictive joy to hear she was suffering because of me. I shrugged nonchalantly. “Suits her right.”Mr Benedetto agreed with me. “Unfortunately, I had to help her with it. If I didn't, everyone would know you were not originally my bride,”I thought that was a pity. A comfortable silence settled between us. Only I could almost hear the sizzle of the electricity between us. I glanced at his side profile. Though I looked awa
Kate's POVMy face paled as I took in my CEO's gorgeous form. Slowly, I gave him a once over….Wait…did I just admire the asshole? Nah. Must be the excitement from tangling with Maxwell. I glared at Mr Benedetto, trying to hide the flutter in my chest. “What are you doing here?” I asked, trying to sound calm. I knew full well what he was here for. The reception party for our wedding that never happened. The same party for which he had asked me to be ready by four in the evening. I cast a quick look at the wall clock hanging on the opposite wall. It showed a few minutes after three in the evening. Did I sleep that long? “I said I was coming to pick you, didn't I? I also said you're to be ready and waiting by then,” Mr Benedetto said, his gaze fixed on my face as though daring me to refute him. I felt a surge of annoyance at his tone. But despite myself, I wondered what it would be like to sit beside him at a table of high society, acting as his wife. I hated myself for the though
Kate's POV“Boo!” “Argh!” Raucous laughter. Well, what wouldn't one pass through just because she has a best friend? Here I am, going through an existential crisis, and all my best friend and her friends could think of was waiting outside the elevator to scare me. “Seriously?” I asked with narrowed eyes. I wasn't amused. Vera rolled her eyes. “You've only leveled up for about a few hours and you're already narrowing your eyes at me? And here I was, dreaming of pranking the stuck up, douchebag supervisor one day and daring him to petition me if he has the guts.”I took a deep breath and swallowed my exasperation. This wasn't their fault. They don't know after all. They think that I'm in a happy marriage. Vera frowned, studying my face. “Are you alright? Is he asking you to go off work for your honeymoon?” “Yeah, because Kate is such a workaholic,” Mae sneered. Well, maybe I didn't mask my exasperation so well. I forced a smile. My best friend had always been there for me. I sho
Kate's POVMy mind went blank, the reeled with shock as it finally processed what I just heard. His wife? What was he thinking. “No way!” I blurted out. It wasn't a conscious thought, just words that fell off my lips. But I regretted them the instant they fell, because the look in Mr Benedetto's face could have frozen all seven oceans. For some reason, I shivered and avoided meeting his gaze. “Look at me!” he commanded. Like a puppet, I slowly raised my head to meet his eyes. The exasperation and mockery I saw made me angry. I held his gaze stubbornly. The war of stares raged for almost a full minutes before I finally gave him. But I refused to look down once more. I simply focused on his face, rather than looking directly into his eyes. Once again, I wondered how anyone could be so handsome.“What do you mean no way?” Mr Benedetto asked, his voice clearly reflecting his exasperation. “The press already thinks we're married. You saw the news.”I swallowed. Ordinarily, the though
Kate's POV The elevator felt too small as I rode it to the thirtieth floor, which was where the CEO's office was. I had never been to this part of the building before. Hell, I had never seen the CEO before either, but I just had to go and have a one night stand with him. How dumb was I? There was suddenly not enough air in the elevator. I was grateful when it stopped and I stepped out. Right before me was a door with a tag that said it's the CEO's office. I walked in. The secretary stood up and bowed slightly when she saw me. "Sir is waiting for you inside," she said her tone very respectful. It felt really strange and I wanted to tell her it was just a rumour, but she had already sat down and returned to her work. Sighing, I walked to the door of the main office. The loud, angry voice of a female stopped me in my tracks. Carefully, I stepped to the door which was a little bit open and peered in. I saw a girl's back. She was shouting at a sitting figure, who I assumed to be D
Kate's POVIt was the pain that woke me up. It felt like a stubborn chef was pounding inside my head, making sure I didn't roll over to go back to sleep. Groaning, I tried to open my eyes, but they felt heavy. Very heavy. When I finally managed to open them, the fluorescent hurt and I had to close them and open them again, slowly this time. I sat up from the bed and looked around. The room looked strange, like a….I gasped. A hotel room? What was I doing in one? Just then, wind from somewhere caressed my body and I realised I was naked. My panic intensified. I looked around frantically, and that was when I saw the body beside me, sleeping peacefully. It's back was turned to me, so I couldn't see the face properly. I felt the blood drain from my face as I pieced the clues together. I couldn't remember getting to this room, but I can remember every other thing that happened before. The wedding preparations, Max cheating, escaping the altar, drinking at the bar. Oh God, did I just
