Standing across the road, Eva glanced back at the hotel where the event was being held for a few seconds before turning her attention back to the road. She reached out her hand to stop a cab that was driving towards her way.
After the taxi stopped in front of her, she got in and settled down in the back seat of the cab."Where to Miss?" The cab driver inquired."T-take me to Grand land hotel." Eva replied in a weak and calm tone. She would rather be in another place than to stay back at the wedding event and witness the happy smiles on both Mark and Christine's face while she gets mocked by everyone.Grand Land hotel is a well-known and popular hotel. She didn't know much about the hotel but she heard about it on television and saw it on online platforms. The hotel was not only popular because it was a very nice hotel, it was said that the hotel has a club where people went often to have fun and spend their money. The club even had a private separate club which was known as the VIP section for rich and influential individuals who have also come to spend their money and time.Today Eva was planning to go and try the popular hotel now that she was in a very miserable state of mind. The driver packed the car in the parking lot while Eva alighted from the car, she got money from her purse and paid him before she made her way to the entrance. The whole area of the hotel was heavily surrounded with security guards, most because the hotel was not just some regular, random clubhouse.Eva ignored the guards and walked towards the entrance. She wasn't too surprised when she saw how the club hall was packed and filled with many people doing different kinds of activities.Eva wasn't in a good mood at the moment to stare around, she strolled to the bar counter and sat down on an empty seat down at the bar counter.A bar attendant approached her from inside the counter. "What would you like to order for, Miss?" He inquired curiously as he began mixing the drinks that were being ordered by other customers.Eva was quite clueless about the kind of drink she should order for. Although, Eva was always picky with whatever she ate or drank. However, she was not in the mood for being picky and she was sure that this place doesn't serve the kind of alcohol she drinks."Just give me the strongest drink you serve here." Eva waved her hand and requested for the strongest drink. Her eyes roamed around the bar while waiting for the bar attendant to serve her drink."Here you go, Miss." The bar attendant said as he passed a glass of mixed drink to Eva.Eva grabbed the glass of drink and down the whole glass in one go. She hissed slightly as the taste of the unknown alcohol burned her throat but she didn't stop as she ordered for more drink.Right now, this alcohol was what she had now, she was seriously wishing that the alcohol would dissolve all of her pain and misery at the moment."That damn bastard!" Eva cursed inwardly as she gulped down her drink. Her mind wandered off to what happened again at the hotel, she was sure that no one had noticed that she was missing from the event. Thinking about the kind of happy smile that would be plastered on Christine's face when Mark broke off her wedding and announced the engagement between him and Christine made clench her fist and down another glass of wine. She should have known where all this would lead to. This was all her fault, she should have canceled the engagement before it all got to the wedding but because of her pride and ego she didn't want to cancel the engagement.Eva knew that Mark has always had a soft spot for Christine, anytime Mark sees Christine he always has the over-protective, gentle and caring expression towards Christine. However, in her case Mark always had this displeased and infuriated expression whenever she was around him.Eva just had to overlook it, she didn't ponder much on it because she thought that he was always gentle towards Christine because everyone always sees Christine as an angel thanks to her demeanor.Although he does not say it…..it was quite obvious that Mark liked Christine more than her. Even though she thought there was nothing between Mark and Christine then, out of jealousy Eva had always been harsh and treated Christine badly whenever she got the chance to. However, she was now able to understand it all, Mark wasn't just only kind and over caring towards Christine because of her demeanor. It was because he has always viewed her as a woman instead."Why did you have to put up with me when you couldn't even tolerate me and went ahead and humiliated me in front of everyone?" Eva muttered silently to herself and poured herself another cup of drink. Earlier she had ordered the bar attendant to give her a bottle of whiskey as she couldn't wait for the bar attendant to pour her another glass."I should have seen through your betrayals, or maybe I was just being delusional and didn't want to accept the reality but look where it all got me." Eva drank the rest of the drink in her glass. She hiccuped a little bit as she filled up her glass. The light at the bar area was dimmed and the music in the whole club was pretty loud. A few customers had left the bar and were dancing on the dance floor. She was the only one sitting at the bar, completely wasted and utterly drunk but she didn't stop when she knew she was drunk. She kept pouring and filling her glass until she finished the whole bottle of whiskey.Inside the Grand land VIP section. The VIP section didn't have any glaring neon lamps or loud music. On the contrary, the environment was rather quiet and intimate. This was where the urban white-collared workers and wealthy rich individuals came to relieve their stress. However, in a private room, a small social gathering was taking place. The gathering consisted of all the well- known bachelors in the city and highly wealthy businessmen. In a dark corner, A man who had a cold and aloof aura with an indifferent expression was being surrounded by a group of people. These groups of people present weren't just ordinary wealthy people, most of them were the top giants of Miami and seeing them was very rare, however, they were all gathered here in one place not because of the event but because they were here because of a special guest who was no other than the man sitting in the dark corner. "It's very rare to see Mr. Cross in this kind of social gathering. This time must have been an
Meanwhile, at the club on the first floor. Eva was still seated at the bar counter and completely drunk as she had already finished two bottles of alcohol and was on her third bottle which was about to finish. The bartender who had been watching her from the sideline walked up to her when he saw pouring the remaining drink in the bottle to fill her glass cup. "Miss, I think you should go home now. You're too drunk or do you have someone who can come pick you up?" He said as he cleared the bottles in front of Eva. "Home?" Eva repeated. She also wanted to go home. She wanted to sleep in her soft and comfortable king-size bed. Tonight was supposed to be her wedding night which she was supposed to share with her lovely husband. However, it was just wishful thinking. "How pathetic!" Eva muttered and downed the rest of the drink in her glass. To think the night of her wedding day would be spent at a hotel…. Well, at least it was a five-star hotel and a very famous one. "You," Eva waved
The next morning, the sun was just peeking in the sky, slowly brightening up the whole city. Eva was sleeping soundly on a soft king-size bed in a hotel room.Eva let out a soft groan in pain as she groggily blinked her eyelid. 'Ughhh!!....Why do I feel so weak?'She felt like a person who had been specially graced and honored with the biggest hangover. She felt mouth was dry as she clutched her head which was throbbing in pain with her hand. Eva tried to open her eyes but due to the faint light from the rising sun outside that had shined through the small gap in the curtain which brightened up the darkroom. Eva had to close her eyes back and blinked a few times to adjust to the brightness.Staring at the unfamiliar ceiling, and taking a proper glance at the room. It was spacious, the walls were painted in white giving the room a bright ambience. It was decorated with various expensive modern furnitures giving the whole room a cozy and homey atmosphere. Eva could tell that this was a
"W-what?! Take responsibility for what?" Eva questioned, confused and taken aback by what the man said. She immediately gathered her strength and pushed the man's body off her and sat up on the bed again. "Why are you acting clueless? You have to take responsibility for taking advantage of me last night." He replied in a cold tone as he sat up on the bed too glaring at Eva. Eva fell into a daze for a few minutes when she heard his reply. 'Advantage?' She repeated in her mind. "Did…. Did I hear you correctly, Mister? Eva questioned when she was finally able to regain her composure."You mean…. I should take responsibility for last night?" she added while pointing at herself. "Yes." His response curt, as his facial expression remained cold and indifferent. "Tsk…" Eva scoffed out in disbelief when she heard his confident response. "Why would I be the one to take responsibility for what happened? Are you seriously asking me that?" Eva remarked, this time her tone and expression sudden
Eva stared at the wall in daze, as the man had long left her and was now in the shower. The sound of running water brought her back to her senses, she turned her head and glanced at the wall clock in the hotel room. '11:30''Damn it! That bastard dare to do this to me and not give me a response!' Without a single thought, Eva ignored the throbbing and aching body and struggled to get out of the bed. With the sound of running water, she made up her mind and came to a decision. Glaring at the closed bathroom door, Eva grabbed one of the robes on the shelf and covered her naked body. Seeing her black dress she had worn yesterday on the floor, she sighed in sorrow and pity. The dress was the only one made and she knew how much stress she had to go through before she got this dress, it also cost her a fortune as the dress was so expensive. It was a dress she had prepared to wear after her wedding ceremony but since there was no ceremony she had worn it to the club last night. But now
Eva closed her eyes and sucked in a deep breath to calm herself as she pulled the robe to cover upper body and slowly opened her eyes back. Turning away from the mirror. There was still a lot for her to do so she decided to put last night incident behind the back of her head and focused on the present. She glanced at her torn black dress which was placed on the bed, there was definitely no way she was going to wear that torn dress out of here. Eva grabbed her cellphone and dialed a number. "Hello, Gwen. Can you get me some new set of clothes. Make it a long sleeve and turtle neck and a new pair of shoes and lady undies." Eva quickly ordered immediately the call connected. "Oh my God! Eva! Where have you been since last night. I heard about what happened to you. Are you-" "I'm fine, just get me what I asked you to." Eva said interrupting Gwen sentence "Okay, where do you want me to bring the dress to?" Gwen didn't bother to pry any further and asked. "Grand land Hotel. And don't
In a dark room with no source of light, a young lady was lying lazily on the king size bed wrapped in her blanket. Because she was sleeping so soundly without any distractions, she didn't hear the knocking sound from her door. The light know became a little harsher and louder, it echoed throughout the entire room but there was no response. After a few minutes of continuous knocking and no response, the door slammed opened without further warning.A young beautiful woman strolled into the room, her hips swaying to every steps she took, long slender legs, seductive eyes and perfect body shape, it wasn't hard to tell that this woman was a world-reowned high class supermodel.A scowl appeared on Nathalia's face as she stopped right in front of the bed. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and glared down at the lady like a mother ready to scold her daughter for sleeping late for school."Are you for real? It's 1:30 in the afternoon and you're still in bed?" Nathalia remarked as she
While Eva was busy with her business in the bathroom, Nathalia sat on the bed waiting patiently for her best friend with a smile on her face.****"Ugh! I hate it. It looks hideous and weird on me, Thalia." Eva complained with a frown, expressing her hatred for the dress while running a tired hand through her hair. There were bags beneath her eyes from the endless night of tossing and turning around in bed without falling asleep."You've been saying that for the other dresses I've picked out for you and what is up with your wardrobe? Since when did you become a nun?" Nathalia remarked as she threw the dress on the bed.Eva sighed for the nth time. Ever since the incident nine months ago on her wedding day which made her the laughing stock of Miami, her confidence had reiterated to the last limit. The glittering twinkle in her eyes from being engaged to Mark had vanished long ago leaving only dead, lifeless eyes.It wasn't easy for her to lose everything in just a single span of one ni
Eva leaned her elbow against the window, a sly smile forming on her lips. “Let’s just say certain people needed a reminder of where they stand.”“I knew it!” Nathalia burst into laughter, the carefree sound lifting Eva’s mood further. “I was telling one of the stylists yesterday, ‘Eva doesn’t let people get away with things. If she’s back, she’s back with a bang!’ And look at you, proving me right.”“I didn’t do anything without reason,” Eva replied, her voice calm but firm. “Christine and Mark needed to be handled. And Director Rick? Well, he made his bed.”“Oh, believe me, I’m not judging,” Nathalia said, her tone growing slightly wicked. “You know I love seeing Christine squirm. She’s got that fake, angelic act down, but I’ve always known she’s rotten to the core.”Eva smirked. “You’re not wrong. She’s good at pretending, though.”“Too bad for her that she’s not as good as you,” Nathalia teased, a playful lilt in her voice. “By the way, did you see the video of Mr. Carl’s press con
Mr. Carl hesitated, clearly weighing his next words. “Given your... influence and recent actions, I wanted to request that you refrain from taking further steps that might escalate this situation. We’re still cleaning up the mess left by Director Rick, and another scandal would be... disastrous.”Eva crossed her arms, regarding him with a cold, calculating gaze. “Mr. Carl, I don’t cause chaos for the sake of it. Every move I make is deliberate and justified. If you’re asking me to sit quietly and tolerate disrespect, I’m afraid you’ve come to the wrong person.”“I’m not suggesting that,” Mr. Carl said quickly. “I’m only asking for your understanding. The company can’t afford another scandal right now.”Eva tilted her head slightly, her smile fading. “The person you should be worried about is Christine, not me. Both she and Mark have already shown that they won’t back down quietly. If I were you, I’d focus on keeping them in check.”Gwen cleared her throat, stepping in to soften the te
The next morning, Eva stepped out of the sleek black car with Gwen by her side. Both women radiated confidence—Eva in her tailored black suit and Gwen in a navy blue dress that reflected her sharp managerial style. HB Industry’s towering headquarters loomed before them, gleaming in the sunlight as if trying to hide the chaos within its walls.“Ready?” Gwen asked, glancing at Eva as they walked toward the building’s entrance.Eva smirked, her heels clicking confidently against the marble floor as they entered the reception area. “I’ve been ready since the moment I stepped back into this industry.”It wasn’t long before they were escorted to Mr. Carl’s office. The CEO of HB Industry rose from his chair as they entered, forcing a professional smile as he extended his hand.“Miss Carter, Miss Langley,” he greeted them, his tone polite but guarded. “Please, have a seat.”Eva and Gwen took their seats, and Mr. Carl sat down, adjusting his tie nervously.“To what do I owe this visit?” Mr. Ca
She paused at the door, her hand resting on the sleek silver handle. Instead of leaving, she turned back toward Kai with a mischievous glint in her eyes.“You know,” she began, folding her arms and leaning casually against the doorframe, “we’ve been talking about me and my plans all morning, but there’s something far more interesting we haven’t discussed.”Kai raised an eyebrow, already sensing trouble. “Oh? And what’s that?”“Your love life,” Eva replied with a grin, emphasizing the words like they were the juiciest gossip she’d ever uncovered.Kai groaned, leaning back in his chair. “Not this again, Eva. I don’t have time for love. Running a company is already a full-time job.”“Oh, please.” Eva waved a dismissive hand as she strolled back toward his desk. “That’s the oldest excuse in the book. You’re not fooling me.”Kai sighed, rubbing his temples. “And what, exactly, am I supposedly hiding from you this time?”Eva leaned on his desk, her smile growing sly. “Let’s just say I have
……..Eva stepped into the sleek, modern office of Elite Entertainment, her heels clicking against the polished floor. The massive windows behind Kai’s desk offered a stunning view of the city, but Eva’s attention was fixed on the man seated before her. Kai, the CEO of Elite Entertainment and her closest friend, leaned back in his chair, watching her with a mixture of curiosity and concern.“Eva,” Kai greeted with a warm smile as he gestured for her to sit. “To what do I owe the pleasure? Usually, I have to chase you down to talk.”Eva smirked, taking a seat across from him. “You’re exaggerating, Kai. I’m not that hard to find.”Kai raised an eyebrow. “Considering the chaos you’ve been stirring up lately, I’d say you’ve been keeping yourself quite busy.”Eva’s smile widened, but there was a glint of mischief in her eyes. “I suppose you could say that.”Kai leaned forward, resting his elbows on the desk. “So, tell me—what’s the plan now? You’ve exposed Christine and Director Rick, shake
There was a long silence on the line. When Matthew finally spoke, his tone was icy. “You’re making a mistake, Eva. This vendetta of yours will come back to bite you. Mark my words.”Eva’s voice was steady, but her words were sharp as a blade. “The only mistake I made was ever thinking you cared about me. Don’t call me again unless it’s to apologize—and we both know that won’t happen.”“You're a mistake in my life, Evangeline Carter!" Matthew snapped angrily which almost made Eva laugh out loud.“That’s your loss, you should have gotten rid of me when you had the chance, Father , I'm prepared to drag all you down if it means I have to shred a part of me again. No matter how much power you oisseeWithout waiting for a response, she ended the call and tossed her phone onto her desk.Eva set the phone down, her jaw tightening slightly as she stared at her reflection in the mirror. The faint hum of the hairdryer and the quiet murmurs of her styling team filled the room, but her thoughts we
--Eva sat in her dressing room, sipping her coffee as her makeup artist worked on perfecting her look. The chaos she had been stirring in the business world seemed a world away from this moment of calm, but it didn’t mean her responsibilities stopped. With deadlines from Gwen and Trix piling up and a high-profile photoshoot scheduled for the day, she had no time to let her focus waver. Her stylist adjusted the hem of her dress while the hairdresser added the final touches to her curls. Eva leaned back in her chair, letting the professionals do their work. Just as she picked up her coffee for another sip, her phone buzzed on the vanity beside her.Glancing at the screen, she froze. The name flashing across it wasn’t one she’d expected to see: Matthew Carter. Her brow furrowed as she stared at the name for a beat too long. Matthew Carter, a man known for his cunning and unpredictability, wasn’t someone who called without reason. And that reason she could already roughly figure out what
******Mark arrived home late, his mind racing. Christine was sitting on the couch, her eyes red and puffy from crying.“What happened?” Christine asked, sitting up.Mark poured himself a drink before turning to her. “Adolf got an email—evidence of your misconduct. He was ready to throw you under the bus, but I convinced him to stand by you.”Christine’s eyes widened. “Financial misconduct? What evidence?”“Eva’s doing,” Mark growled. “She’s trying to destroy you, Christine. But don’t worry. Adolf won’t act against you as long as I’m backing you.”Christine bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes. “I don’t understand why she hates me so much, Mark. I’ve done nothing to her. All I’ve ever wanted was to make a name for myself, just like she did. Why can’t she let me be?”Mark moved to sit beside her, pulling her into his arms. “She’s jealous. You’re everything she used to be—and more. But I won’t let her win. I’ll deal with this, Christine. You just focus on staying strong.”Christine sn
--Two days later, Eva received a call from Gwen“Eva, you’re not going to believe this,” Gwen said, her voice buzzing with excitement. “President Adolf just scheduled a press conference.”Eva raised an eyebrow. “Interesting. What’s the topic?”“No details yet, but I’m betting it’s about Christine.”Eva smirked. “Good. Let’s make sure he has all the information he needs.”She sat at her desk, reviewing the file she had asked Trix to compile. The evidence was compelling—detailed records of Christine’s financial discrepancies and mismanagement of her ambassadorial role with HB Industry. This wasn’t just about Christine’s reputation; it was about how far BTG Industry would go to protect her.Within an hour, Eva sent Adolf an anonymous email containing detailed evidence of Christine. Satisfied with her work, she leaned back in her chair, smirking. “Let’s see how far you’re willing to go, Adolf.”“This is going to be fun." Eva mumbled to herself before grabbing her cellphone and typed so
