RYAN'S POV
I adjusted my necktie as I stared back at my reflection in the full length mirror in my room. Thoughts of the media's speculations about me and Anita Richardson occupied my mind. It was easy for me to keep the reporters off my home because of my connections but how about her? She was only a famous model and was bound to face the heat of my decision some days back. If nothing was done, I don't think she would be able to hold up anymore. I paused on my attempt at buttoning my suit jacket, as a thought flashed through my mind. I wondered where she was staying at the moment but I quickly brushed off the thought as I knew her management would sort out the issue for her. But for how long? I sighed and buttoned up. Maybe I should just hold a press conference and tell the media everything. A strange chill ran down my spine at the thought and I stepped away from the mirror and walked to my bedside drawer to get my phone. "Doing that would be even more disastrous, Ryan." I said out loud to myself. The moment I picked my phone up, a notification popped up on the screen and I stared at it. It was a text from Jose. *Sir, Ms. Richardson would like to meet with you today.* My eyes widened and anticipation built in my heart instantly. Has she made a decision already? *Alright. Arrange a meeting immediately.* I texted back. As soon as I sent the message, I took one last glance at my appearance in the mirror before hurriedly walking out of the room. ___ I hurried into the display hall at the top floor of the private museum and glanced around for any sight of her. Jose had informed me she was here waiting for me. Anita had picked this location herself, he told me. 'Seeing how she choose to meet in public, does this mean she's considering my offer?' I wondered within me. I halted on my steps the moment I sighted her. She was staring at one of the exquisite art paintings displayed on the wall of the museum. Her back was turned in my direction so she hadn't seen me yet. Anita was dressed in a dark-green, handmade knitted female sweatshirt, a tight black leather pants and a handmade knitted clutch purse and black leather boots. Her long and wavy brunette hair, fell down her back, adding more feminity to her feminine bodily charms. Her sweatshirt and clutch purse was obviously one of the latest collections from the famous AMC brand. She had modeled for them in one of her recent commercials. It was a unique brand and their products worth all the hype they usually get. She suddenly turned in my direction and on seeing me, she waved a hand with a smile curving at a side of her lips. Well... What's with the change of attitude? Regardless, I smiled back and walked up to her. "Hello, Anita." "Ryan," she smiled. "Thank you for coming." She added and I nodded. Her lemon green eyes glanced around the vicinity briefly before it returned to meet mine. Leaning slightly towards me, she said in a low tune. "I am ready to fake it with you, Ryan." I stared at her with raised brows in slight surprise and she smiled and leaned back up, pursing her lips afterwards. "So, how do we progress?" I stared at her and smiled. I imagined this happening many times, but why am I surprised? "Let's sit somewhere private and discuss." I finally said and she nodded in agreement.ANITA'S POV Finally regaining my composure after several seconds of staring in stunned silence at Ryan, I swatted his hand away. "And what if I don't want to play?" "Then we can just sit here and talk." He gave an indifferent shrug. "Talk about what?" I raised a brow at him. "Talk about you, me, the kids, anything." He casually said. I stood up and walked back to the basketball court, Ryan quietly followed behind. We got to the court in no time and I picked up a ball and bounced. "Have you forgotten our deal, Mr. Rivers?" "The one about keeping everything I knew about you a secret and never asking you anything about it?" He asked, and I said nothing. Ryan rolled up his sleeves and aimed towards me, going for the ball. Soon it was in his possession again. And he bounced it several times, dodging from my reach while I struggled to get it back. And for a couple seconds, his gaze locked against mine. "Of course, I didn't forget." He reached out his arms high and thre
ANITA'S POV "Anita, are you crazy?" Kristen's sharp tone hit me with a painful sting. Taylor was her only brother and the thought that I had hurt him must have gotten her worried. She had gone to get groceries after dropping me off at Taylor's private studio and had returned to meet us in that horrible situation. Was I going to get Taylor hospitalized? A gasp left my lips instantly. "Oh my God! T!" I ran to his side immediately. He coughed weakly, his mouth bloodied as he tried to smile. "Indeed Ani, you didn't hold back. As your mentor, I'm very proud of you." "Stop talking, will you? Jeez! You're hurt. I'm very sorry. Kristen, I'm sorry I didn't... I really didn't mean to..." "Well, damn it with you two. There's always bound to be drama and several bruises each time I leave you both alone." She sighed. "However, this was the first time you've really gone beyond the usual, Anita. What were you thinking? Is it because of the news?" "I am just crazy, that's a
ANITA'S POV Only two days after my return from Eden's Orphanage and my unpleasant encounter with the Walters from DC, the answer to the questions that's bothered me in the last forty eight hours, was already trending all over the internet. *The CEO of Walter Groups and Co. Dean Walter, and his beautiful Influencer wife, Brianne McKinney Walter stuns in photos as they adopt a baby from Eden's Orphanage in New York.* Adopt? I scoffed mentally. I never cared why the bastard needed to adopt a child but he must be very delusional if he really dreamed he could answer the title of 'father' after what he did to me, to our baby... I had just returned from an emergency shoot earlier in the day and was about to alight from Kristen's car while absentmindedly scrolling on my phone when the news about Dean Walter adopting a child had popped up on my feed, ruining my mood entirely. My fury was so great it made me sick internally but I had refused to allow myself experience another t
RYAN'S POV I picked my kids up in my arms, and kissed their cheeks. "Mama's not coming home tonight, sweeties." "Whyyy?" Zara stressed, pouting as she fiddled with a button on my shirt. "Because Mama went to see an old friend that needs her help." I don't know if that was a lie or not. The most important thing was to make the kids believe it at least. Their faces didn't look convinced so I dropped the highlight. "To make sure you're comfortable and not miss her so much tonight, she sent some gifts!" Their faces instantly brightened. Thank goodness. "Now, who wants to hear Mama's voice before going to bed?" "Yay!!! Meeee!!!" They jumped in my arms, squealing happily. They were so happy that once again, I couldn't deny the stinging feeling of guilt squeezing my insides as I watched them. I hope my lies don't eventually ruin their lives. God help me. Some ten minutes later, they were fast asleep. Anita was right after all. I smiled, tucked them in bed properly and
RYAN'S POV I was just about to get in my car, all dressed up and feeling excited like a teenage boy on his first date, after sending a text to Anita when her reply popped up faster than I'd expected. My hand resting on the car's door stilled the moment I read through her text. *I'm sorry Ryan, but we'd have to take a rain check on dinner. Something came up, let's do this some other time, if you don't mind. Also, I wouldn't be home tonight.* Well, that's unusual. Is she sleeping over at Kristen's? I stared at my phone in a mix of confusion and worry. What happened to her? It was unlike her to stay out without coming back except when it's for an already planned photoshoot or business meeting. My eyes lingered on my phone as her text message stared right back at me. *No problem, Anne. Hope you're alright? You're at Kristen's, right?* I texted back as I retraced my steps back into the villa. Several minutes later, I stared at my phone for the umpteenth time, no respon
ANITA'S POV Sadly, Mama Suzanne had no immediate answer for my impromptu question. However, she promised to check through the old files and staff at the orphanage and assured me she'd get back to me when she finds some useful information. We exchanged contacts and I left her my personal email address and contact information this time. After a brief tour around the orphanage, we returned to her office and I spent some more time with her catching up about the old times, getting info on the events that happened in my absence and getting to hear about the general well-being of some of my old childhood friends and colleagues. We were served some snacks and offered food from the cafeteria, I was initially going to resist but after hearing it was made by my favorite chef (during my time at the orphanage) I couldn't resist anymore. So, Mama Suzanne's assistant packed some food and drinks for us as we prepared to leave. It was really a nice time and reunion for me and Madame Suzann
