ALEX'S POV
I joined the others for training the next day. To be honest, I felt quite lost. It is one thing to ward off or kill someone weaker than you but when you have to tackle someone with similar powers, it is challenging.
Yuri came forward to duel with me. He had me pinned to the ground within seconds…
I can’t describe the level of disappointment I felt. If I couldn’t even defeat Yuri... how could I defeat my father; who was probably the most powerful Golden Shifter.
I got up but remained seated on the ground while Yuri went to fight with ano
ALEX'S POVWe took our physical form and stood a few yards away from the Waterfall. The water roared as it gushed down, as if giving a warning of what was to come. We had managed to reach much before the Golden Shifters crossed the border. This gave us the lead time needed to create the best suitable formation. We spread out in an eagle formation, leaving space for fire team in the right. Since they were walking towards the clearing, they had yet to arrive.“Remember, we aim to end the war; not to have fun torturing… I want you all to trap the Golden Shi
ALEX'S POVI wondered if I could sense their energy field like I sensed Golden Shifters… I tried to focus on something opposite of light. Soon, enough I sensed something dark… It wasn’t as strong a sensation that I felt for Golden Shifters but it gave me something to work on. Following that sensation, I drew closer to the cave where Eva was meditating. My heart sank… Why was this energy field emanating from near the cave? I zipped to the cave as soon as possible. To my horror, both Albert and Wang were headed to the cave. I couldn’t move forward in my energy form. So, I had to transform. By the time I reached closer to them, they were already entering the cave.
THIRD PERSON’S POVAs soon as the sun went below the horizon both the opponents gathered in the clearing of the enchanted forest. The faces of Alex’s army shone with the joy of victory. They seemed relaxed… except for the Light Master. “Don’t take it lightly my boys. They must be prepared with Amethyst needles or something equivalent today. We have to be extremely alert.”The Golden King looked wary but his eyes were determined. Albert and Wang were nowhere to be seen.
THIRD PERSON'S POV“No matter what, we have to end this war today,” Alex commanded his team as the sun went below the horizon. The Golden shifters in Alex’s army stood there alert. Their ears perked up to catch the slightest sounds. Their senses strained in wait for their enemies. The sound of several shots sounded in the air and before they knew it, all the four hundred shifters in their team were stung with amethyst needles. The enemies had decided to use a stealth strategy. Golden wisps of energy streamed into the clearing as the opponents atta
THIRD PERSON'S POVAlex waited for the opponents to arrive in his energy form. All the other fighters were in their energy forms too. They weren’t going to take any chances today. Alex’s eyes swept over the clearing doing a quick count. Ony two hundred shifters were left in his team. It was consoling to know that they were still alive in the Fire Cube. Soon, the Golden King arrived. Today he was flanked by Albert and Wang. Probably they had recovered from their previous stint. There were about fifty Golden Shifters in the opponent's team. They were outn
THIRD PERSON'S POVThe light master and Alex were struggling to keep up with the Golden Shifters that surrounded them. The moment they felt that they had defeated one, two would attack them. Most of their comrades had been swallowed by the Cyclops. Even if someone was left, they had eloped.Eva sneaked up behind Albert and with a smooth move thrust one of the daggers into his back. A scream erupted from Albert and he fell to the ground. Then right before everyone’s eyes his body transformed into a wisp of dark smoke and vanished.
ALEX'S POVGloom hung over the Golden Kingdom. It was as if the kingdom had lost its sheen. As I walked hand in hand with Eva, through the paths of the Golden Kingdom, I couldn’t help but think of the happier times this place had seen. “Eva, do you remember the first time we came here?”“Hmmm…. I was so enchanted by this place but the beauty of this place seems like it is mocking us…”She was right. The exquisite beauty of this place was now covered in the blood of thousands that died during the war.
ALEX'S POVThat night we poured our souls into each other, hoping to get some respite from the bloodshed we had seen but everything seemed pretty meaningless; our lovemaking session lacked any passion. It just seemed like a chore. We laid on the bed in each other’s arms. None of us slept that night. Sleep is a gift bestowed to a calm and peaceful mind. Twelve days later...It was time to conclude the mourning session officially. I had decided to declare Yuri as my successor. Then, I would proceed with Eva for the death ritual.
ALEX’S POV“Ahhh!!! No!! Please… Alex… ambulance…” Eva’s piercing cry woke me at the dead of the night. She was doubled over with pain."Are you alright?" I asked caressing her head."Do I look alright? Call the damned ambulance." She screamed grasping her abdomen.“F***!” I said jumping off my bed and picked up the phone. Tring…tring…tring…
EVA’S POV“Where are we going, Alex?” I asked trying to peek at the destination shown on the Google map. “Don’t cheat, Eva. Don’t ruin my surprise…” Alex said steering the car. “Alright… alright… You can at least tell me if I will like this place…” I said shrugging my shoulders.“I don’t know, Eva. It isn’t exactly the kind of place you like.”“Then, why are we going there?
ALEX’S POVI had to leave the room. I was scared I would hurt Eva if I stayed there any longer. My blood boiled when I heard Eva talking about drinking the potion. I had died a thousand deaths every day watching her life ebb slowly. Here she was, ready to risk her life in the blink of an eye. I continued walking aimlessly through the palace, then the garden, just trying to let out some steam. Suddenly my feet came to a halt. What if Eva tried to drink the potion while I was not with her.
EVA'S POV“Alex… what if I die before giving birth to our daughter? Worse… if I die after her birth…” My lips trembled as I voiced out my concern. He ran his hand over my head and said, “Don’t think like that Eva, I promise, I will not let anything happen to you…”I pursed my lips and nodded my head. I didn’t want to worry Alex anymore but I couldn’t get the words of the spirit out of my head, ‘You will die a slow painful death!’“Remember the words of the spirit, Eva. She has ble
EVA'S POVThe moment I opened my eyes, I had to shield them with my hands. I winced and said, “Ah… please draw the curtains. This light is unbearable.”Once the intensity oflight decreased I was able to open my eyes again. I tried to get up when I realized that I was in an unfamiliar room. I was still squinting as the light hurt slightly. Someone grasped my hands and made me lie down again. “Queen, you need to rest…&rd
I stared at my flat stomach in the mirror. It had been a week since the spirit had blessed me… alright… cursed me too but Alex and I had decided to focus only on the blessing part. “Wondering if you are pregnant?” Alex whispered as he hugged me from behind, softly nibbling my ears. “This wait is driving me crazy, Alex… when do you think I would get pregnant…”“I don’t know about that but we can try to increase our chances you know…” When I caught the naughty glint in his eyes my face heated and lowered my
EVA'S POVThe queasy feeling subsided after all the drink was out of my system. I heaved a sigh of relief and sat on the throne. My eyes flitted to Alex and the other Golden Shiffters gazing at me with worry. Damn! Why was this giving me a headache?“Are you alright, Eva?” Alex said, placing his hand on my head and projecting some energy into me. “Yeah… I am good… I think the glasses got interchanged and I drank Soma instead of blood… by the way, where is Victoria. Is she alright?”“I think she went to her room, Quee
THIRD PERSON’S POVCheerful chatter filled the Dining hall as everyone gathered in the hall. Every once in a while there would be silence when a pang of grief hit someone but they tried their best to keep up the lively atmosphere. “I have to say that Queen Eva has a very large heart…I mean I have never known anyone who can forgive someone who tried to steal their husband…”“True… She not only forgave her but she is accepting Victoria’s daughter as her Godchild….”“Hmmm…. But I am a bit scare
ALEX'S POV“Eva, I can’t believe a week has passed without any mishaps..” I said hugging Eva from the back. “Hmmm… everyone is still depressed. It tears me apart to see them lamenting and brooding. We have to do something, Alex…”She was right. We couldn’t continue to spend our entire life buried under layers of sorrow and darkness. It would defeat the purpose of our existence. “Eva, I think I know what to do…”&ldq
