After what happened with her sister last night, Kendra woke up the following day and decided she had had enough of the hospital food.

Her parents walked in on her, arguing heatedly with her doctor, who believes she is not strong enough to leave, but Kendra argues that she knows her body better than the fucking doctors.

“What is going on here?!” Alpha Conor asked, looking from the doctor in scrubs to his fully dressed daughter.

They both turned to the Alpha, a stubborn look on Kendra’s face, while the doctor looked frustrated and relieved to see the Alpha. He has never met a more stubborn young woman.

“Please, can you talk some sense into her,” the doctor pleaded dramatically with the Alpha. Last night, she tore her stitches from doing God knows what! And this morning, she wants to leave. She is not yet strong enough and can barely stand on her own.

“I can stand alright, thank you very much.”

“What did you do to tear your stitches?” Alpha Conor asked his daughter in a calm voice.

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Seventy-Four: The Marking Ceremony

The air of festivity hung around the pack as they prepared for the marking ceremony between Adira and Jake. Everyone was excited and pretty much looking forward to the evening ceremony where they get to witness the Alpha heir get hitched with the most promising young warrior of the Pack. They have all forgotten the event of the past few weeks, which the Alpha sold as his demented adopted daughter trying to corrupt his daughter. Almost everyone but the Alpha’s words. Few had questions, but none had the courage to ask. They all went along with the flow of things, most of them, content not to have a foreigner at the seat of power in their Pack. The only one who seems to mourn the departure of the brunette was the blonde, the Alpha’s daughter. Adira walks around with fake smiles and strong face, pretending all is well with her heart, but only those close to her could see the heavy cloud of sadness hovering over her head. The blonde is unhappy, and rightly so. Her mother is worried, he

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Seventy-Three: Her rejection

A challenge that is what it all came down to. A fight to death between her mate and her father. The two people she loves most in the world fighting because of her. Adira didn't sleep a wink last night thinking of this fight, and her father probihibted her from seeing her sister whom he had locked up in the cell. The blonde didn't even know the Pack had a dungeon until yesterday. It didnt matter how much she pled with her father to release her sister, it all fell on deaf ears. She had woken up with her eyes swollen, and her heart aching with pain and sadness. She had tried to speak with her mate through their link, but Kendra is not speaking to her. She wondered if the brunette blames her for their situation. A reminder of her sister's cold silence sends Adira weeping again. She falls to the bed clutching her chest while tears streams down her face. "Adira!"The soft whisper of her name inside her mind freezes the blonde, and her sobs ceases immediately. "Kendra!" she calls o

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Seventy-Two: The brawl

"Kendra!" Adira screams, her expression alarmed as she runs to her lover's rescue, while a six-foot vengeful Jake storms toward the brunette, his expression murderous, his stormy brown eyes brewing with killing intent. The brunette rises from the water like an angel of death, her hair matted to her head, dripping with water, while her icy blue eyes hardened as she readied to defend herself against the raving mad teenager rushing toward her. Jake got to Kendra before Adira, and with a furious yell, raised his hand again to punch the brunette, his mind empty except for the boiling rage inside him. He doesn't care that she is a woman, and is hell bent on teaching her a lesson. Kendra goes still, waiting for the right moment to strike. It comes when she sees the approaching fist from her side eye, and her hand springs forth to catch the descending limb. Jake will not be deterred by his immobilised limb and strikes out with the other, which automatically ends within Kendra's grasp. Kend

For the rest of the day, Kendra couldn't stop thinking about her father's words. It didn't make sense. When the time for Adira to leave school reached, she left the house to pick her up. Adira walks out of the school with her friends and stops abruptly when she sees her sister. The brunette rested casually against her bike, dark sunshade over her face, her attention focused on her phone, uncaring about the looks she was receiving from the students. "Wow! Your sister looks so hot," Dylan comments, staring at the brunette with appreciation, which turns to a nervous gulp when Kendra looks up in his direction and their eyes meet. Fortunately for him, he doesn't hold the brunette's attention for long as it quickly shifts from him as if bored and rests on the one who matters. Adira feels her breath leave her lungs when her sister's eyes catch hers. Dylan is right, her sister is smoking hot, she thinks, staring heatedly at the brunette. Adira continues to stare, frozen in place, unawa

Adira’s heart somersaults into her stomach, stirring the butterflies inhabiting the pits of her stomach, and not in a good way. She looks at Jake faintly. “What?” She gasps, hoping she misheard. Jake’s stern and rigid expression doesn’t change in the face of Adira’s shocked expression; if anything, it hardens further. His heart boiled with rage at the idea that the blonde could be deceiving him all this time. “You heard me,” he growls, his stare unrelenting. Adira begins to panic, but she holds herself together, her eyes searching Jake’s to see if he suspects anything. She couldn’t read anything off his inscrutable gaze. It is as if the boy before her has gone to extra lengths to hide his emotions from her.The only thing she could read is his anger, and that is because it is pouring off him like a strong cologne. “What makes you ask that?” She deflects with a question, hoping that Jake would give her a clue as to what he is thinking. Jake doesn’t bulge, nor did his rigid express
