"Coffee?" I heard Tyler ask. He had been holding a cup of coffee in front of me for a while now, I blinked. "I made it just the way you like it." He added.

I shook my head casually and ran my hands through my hair. "Everything is going to be fine." Tyler comforted me in a low tone, I would have let out a sarcastic laugh and told him just how much everything would not be fine if I hadn't lost my voice.

He didn't say anything after that, We simply stood by the lobby while Leonardo sat down in the waiting room. I marched over to the lobby willingly, my legs had started doing those things they always do; Walking without my permission.

"The detective we hired gave me a response tonight." My eyes snapped up at Tyler and he stared back at me with heavy dull blue orbs. I felt guilt knock at the door of my heart and I could not help but feel that all of this was in one way or another my fault.

"He found Mathias's apartment," My eyes widened and I licked my lips as I stared at him in expectation

I ran my hands through my hair for the millionth time and tapped my foot against the ground. The revelation concerning Alice and Mathias was what led us to search for him and now, He was dead.I wasn’t even sure that Rye knew he was dead and the fact that he died three years ago, sent chills down my spine, everything, every single event that lead right to Alice concerning my father’s death, Happened three years ago when he was m murdered.I wondered if it had all been related, I felt like I was missing something, something very important but I couldn’t wrap my head around what it was. “Do you want to sit?” Tyler asked. I shook my head and bit down on my lip.“I was thinking…” He began and I glanced at him. “Shouldn’t we see a doctor about your voice? It could be serious.” He whispered before he tore his gaze from me. Ever since the incident with Charlotte, it felt like he had been walking on eggshells around me and I had no clue why.Tyler sighed loudly and I perked up at that, He re

"Hm, There's nothing wrong with your vocals, This is probably because of the shock," George informed Tyler and me as he looked me over again, His stethoscope rested on his neck and most of his weight was on his table."Is there anything we can do to you know...Fix it?" Tyler asked calmly. I rolled my eyes and was about to say something along the lines of 'You can't just fix things like these but then I mentally groaned when I recalled that I could not speak"I could refer you to a specialist." George offered as he stood straight and walked over to his chair, We had spent theLast two hours in his office checking out my vocals and wondering what or when something went wrong. Tyler seemed to be panicking and I had a lot more things to be worried about,"I think —" I sent Tyler a glare and he almost threw his head back in a groan, His shoulders were stiff as he stared into my eyes, almost as if he wanted me to give in and see the specialist but my demeanor was stronger than that.I glance

"Who are you?!" Her hoarse voice boomed and I tried to pull away but her nails just dug into me. Charlotte's voice seems to attract the attention of Tyler and George because, in no time, both men were around us, Tyler was trying to get her to leave my arm while Goerge worked on giving her a sedative. She didn't budge though, red filled her eyes and for a moment there I felt hatred from a woman who had shown me nothing but love, I had never seen this side of Charlotte and I was very interested in knowing what was wrong."She sent you here to Kill me, didn't she?!" She yelled and tightened her grip on my wrist if that was even possible at this point, The hospital walls felt like they were closing in on me, and I wanted to do was wake up from this nightmare, but of course, that did not happen."Where is the little girl? Huh? What did that witch do with the little girl?!" She boomed. I shut my eyes as Tyler tried to pull my hand away from her and to be honest the whole scene was pathetic.

The silence in the room was aching, Leonardo was currently pacing to and fro within the small space, while I struggled to come to terms with everything I had just heard.“I’m sorry...” I heard him whisper in a strained voice, my eyes were glued to the empty hall in front of me, while my mind was divided between the situation here and why in the world Tyler wasn’t here yet. I knew I needed to do something. Anything. I wanted to know what happened. I knew Leonardo, He adored Charlotte. Especially since the incident with his parents a month ago, there was no way the kid would have been willing to hurt her, No way at all. This whole thing led me to wonder what compelled him to go this far. It must have been pretty hard to hurt someone you love and from what I knew, They had no issues with each other and there was no way Leonardo could do anything like this Unless he had been threatened. That led me to wonder why he hadn’t spoken to us, I, Tyler, Charlotte. We were not related by blood an

Eight-year-old me wouldn’t exactly be proud of who I was now, but she would be content and at peace to an extent. As much as this seems to have absolutely nothing to do with everything that was going on, It had everything to do with it.It was then, that I was reminded of eight-year-old me, Her dull emerald eyes from staying away all night and living in fear, The way her footsteps were faint because she tried to avoid any form of interaction even in her own home, The way she would quirk her lips upwards and pretend everything was fine. How she made wishes up on wishes while blaming herself for every single predicament and begging God to make her disappear because she was tired of taking up too much space. I felt the edges of my lips curl downwards as I realized just how similar I was to eight-year-old me. She always felt she could handle it all and life never stopped throwing crap at her. Twenty-three-year-old me is tired of life throwing things at her though, Twenty three year old me

“Danielle please stop! This place isn’t safe!” I didn’t stop though, I wasn’t the one who had to stop, He was the one. He was the one chasing after me. Right? It took me a few minutes into the streets to realize how late it was and the fact that Tyler was still chasing me. If I had my voice, I would have probably said something along the lines of; ‘Don’t you give up?’ But I did not have my voice and that made the entire difference. I stopped and spun around to lock eyes with him, I wanted to tell him to leave — That I needed and wanted to be alone, but unfortunately, I could not,“This place isn’t safe. Please, Let’s go.” His voice sounded stuffy and he had a slight stumble in his footsteps. Tyler was breathing heavily, probably because he had been chasing me for over an hour now and we were pretty far from the hospital, I had watched as the Disney-themed man placed his hand on his knees to catch his breath, that was about ten minutes ago and he was not calming down.I tried to call

My breath hitched and I tightened my fists as I locked eyes with Alice, Her lips curved into a vague smile and her blonde hair was tied in a lazy bun, I could barely make out her facial features from the darkness, but I knew they were anything but kind.I tried to sit up but my legs failed me. I glanced over at Tyler who seemed to be out of it at this point, I blinked away tears I never knew I had shed before a tsk brought me out of my thoughts."Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. " I heard Alice Tsk, She knelt beside Tyler and me, I wrapped my hands around him protectively and gave her my best death glare. The suit-clad woman chuckled, Her dimples were visible and she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Do you— do you know what this whole scenario reminds me of?" She questioned with a small smile. "It reminds me of all those nights when you would take your favorite toys and hide behind the bed from me." She reminded in a wicked tone. "You haven't changed Danielle. "You are insane." I heard Alice's voice."Quite the contrary, for the first time, every since I had been born —I feel sane." I spat. "Do you think that..." She trailed off but kept eye contact with me "That your little outburst will fix anything?" She reminded softly, This time, it was I, who chuckled."Of course not mother, You are not easy to defeat, after all, You said it yourself, Words are just words, They mean nothing." I retorted. "For the past few months, You have done whatever you want, You have hurt and abused and killed whomever you wanted, You played god for months!" I growled, I closed the distance between us and looked into her eyes."Now it is my turn, Now I will do whatever I want. You have hurt and taken the people I love away from me, you have caused them pain, torture and so much more, back then, I was fighting as someone's daughter, friend, sister, and lover. Today, mother..." I trailed off but caught my hoarse voice back. "I will be fighting as Danielle, Your crea

5 years later. “What happened here?” I sucked in a sharp breath as I glanced around what was supposed to be the children’s room but seemed like a battleground. World war three happened here. “It was him!” Bella cried in her high-pitched voice, I cringed at her tone and glanced in the direction of her voice. My heart skipped a bit when I could not find her, but if the mop of blonde curls that peaked out from beneath the bed was anything too go by; I was definitely on the right track. I took tentative steps toward her and crouched down to her height, “Baby, what’s going on?” my voice trembled slightly with worry but that was not the only thing threatening an anxiety attack from me at this moment. It was already 10:00 am and I wasn’t even dressed — forget about dressing up, Tyler wasn’t even around to handle the kids and he promised me. Today was my big day and he promised he would fill in, but as always, he just runs off with his burger. Bella reluctantly reached out to me and

You know how you can spend your entire life walking on the wrong path. You can feel like you have it all figured out even though you are just starting and struggling to be a good version of yourself. There are some memories, that don’t die when dawn comes barging in. Some dark times that even the sun can’t chase away. My point is: They are too many things out of our control and the last thing you want to do is get stuck with the guilt of not fixing or doing things that were never in your control, to begin with. As I ran my hands through my soaked scarlet hair, a lone tear crawled down my cheek and I swallowed sharply. I bit hard on my bottom lip as I thunderstruck and pierced my skin. It was almost scary how three years had felt like decades, how much I had linked to come here, all the promises, the guilt, everything that had built up to this exact moment. I wiped my tears which were mixed with rain. I found to hear the hesitant footsteps from Rye, but I did not turn. My fists cle

“There’s still time for us to run.” I glanced at Emilia as if she had grown two heads, but she had a serious expression on her face and I knew that she was freaking out deep down.So was I.“Run to where exactly?” I decided to humor her risky thoughts with a raised eyebrow, her stance deflated and she let go of my hand. We were outside the church now. It was crazy how much time had passed and how things were happening so fast.Until two weeks ago I was at Alice’s grave. Now I was walking down the aisle. I frowned and breathed. “When did Rye say she was going to get here?” I asked Emilia, the blonde seemed to be too engrossed in starting anything but the church that waiting for her. Her blonde hair had been styled in a perfect bun and Isabel had performed magic with her makeup. Her dimples were visible and she wasn’t even smiling. “This was the last place I thought I would ever come,” The words rolled out of my mouth and left a bland taste in my mouth, I could feel the heat from the ground tear my skin apart, and my eyes stung with fresh tears and my fists clenched. If anyone had told me, years ago, or even a month ago that I would do this, I would have laughed in their face and given them a fitting reply, yet here I was, tears pouring down my cheeks with a void in my heart that I was not sure time could heal.“It wasn't supposed to end like this, Alice. This wasn’t the plan. Tyler chuckled and his hand went to his neck for a nervous moment. “I don’t think you have realized it but… Alexander is in love, and it’s not with you,” I blinked in confusion.Tyler laughed at what seemed like my facial expression. “Alexander is madly in love with Lee.” My eyes widened and I immediately clicked the dots.Lee’s strange behavior ever since Alexander came into the house, her sudden change of heart, the reason she begged me to stop the wedding, why she was so devastated during the shoot-out, why she kept her gaze on Alex, and most of us, why she was bosses with taking care of Bella. “But she’s just a child and he- he’s twenty-five or something! This isn’t right!” I informed him.“She’ll be eighteen in a few weeks, by then she will be an adult, right?” Cole asked in a calm tone.“Well yes, but…” I trailed off and walked past him, I turned and continued. “She’s still a child, he’s five years older than she, and I don’t know, I’m just not comfortable with the idea.”“It’s

"Are you okay?" Tyler was standing at the doorwhen I came out, I nodded and walked past him. "Where's Gemma?" I asked with a straight face and glanced around the place. "She left," Tyler informed me absentmindedly. "She asked for a divorce." He added."Why? Did she finally realize that you are nothing like you claim you are?" I spat at him and he shrugged."She was pregnant for someone else," He continued. My eyes widened and I shrugged. "Oh wow." I chuckled. "I never thought you would come here." I heard a voice as I sat on the closest rock. From the view I had, the lake was breathtakingly beautiful, it had been months since I came here and I was dying for a breath of fresh air."Do you remember the last time we came here?" the voice continued on a steady pitch, I rolled my eyes at the tone and turned away. "Danielle, you are going to have to face me at one point or the other." Tyler finally confessed in what sounded like a defeated tone, I scoffed at his words. "There's nothing to settle." my voice came out strained. It had been one entire month since Alice was murdered and Aiden died at my hands. The memory still sends chills down my spine and for many days I refused to leave my home because I was terrified of the outcome, I sucked in sharp air and glanced at him."You ended this, remember?" I added in a soft tone, my eyes stung with tears but I blinked them away. Tyler sighed. He broke the small distance between us and sat beside me

I lunged at him. With all the force and anger I could muster at that moment. This was the moment I had waited for so many years. Three long years — I lived with that guilt and pain for three long years. I was broken, I had to deal with the pain and nightmares and the intense feeling that I could not protect the man who did nothing but love me. The only thing I had consoled myself with back then was that I would avenge his death. And only when I had avenged his death, would I visit his grave. Today, I would fulfill that promise.Aiden lost balance in shock, the gun went off immediately. My eyes widened when we hit the ground. I was basically on top of him, dangerously close with the gun between us and my breath hitched. My heart raced and it took me a few seconds to register the fact that the bullet had not hit me, rather it was stuck in Aiden who was bleeding from his nose.I must have taken too long to connect all these dots because the next thing I knew was hands around my neck, c

"Aiden," I growled and he smiled. He had a fun held up straight to my face and I was almost thrown off by the audacity of the man. Here, in broad daylight, he was pointing a gun at me, a smug grin plastered on his face as if he had just been given hot coffee on a stressful morning."Danielle" His voice was calm and held no remorse at all, his eyes narrowed at me and rested on Alice's body which was behind me. I watched as Aiden's grey eyes darkened for a bit before they returned to their previous form."For the first time in my entire life...I'm sad I was right about something." The words were not directed at me, rather it was where his gaze rested. Completely fixed on Alice. "If you cared about her, you would have stopped this a long time ago." I shot a glare at him, and he scoffed and stared at me with a piercing gaze. "It's because of her, I did this!" He snapped and shot one of the medics, I stumbled on the side of the van, my eyes went wide and I clenched my fist."That's a li
