Berrilyl's POV

He won't spare me, I thought bitterly, my nails digging into my palms. Cage's anger earlier in the hall had been volcanic, his words searing like lava. But what more could he do? Wasn't he satisfied with the damage he'd already caused?

But I knew better. Cage wasn't the kind of man to stop at humiliation. If he wanted to make an example of me, he would.

The thought sent a cold shiver running down my spine. I had just started to get better, my body healing from the last round of torment I'd had to endure upon his orders. If he had me whipped again, especially with a whip laced with wolfsbane, I wasn't so sure my body could handle it.

I gritted my teeth, furious with myself even for letting the thought creep in. No, I told myself firmly, I won't beg. Not to him. Not to anyone.

The minutes ticked by, dragging their feet like hours as I paced my room. The possibilities whirled round in my mind, intermingled with plans and defiance. But it was all so futile. It seemed the wa

Berrilyl’s POVI was very terrified, terrified than I had expected. Things were becoming as crazy as the people in the engagement hall had predicted. It was obviously going to be a very spectacular nightmare. Before I could say anything I was dragged and beaten in front of the crowd. There was nothing I could do but scream. The sting of the whip seared through my skin, sharp and unforgiving. I couldn’t stop the cry that tore itself from my throat, but it did nothing to stop the onslaught. Every strike felt like fire against my already bruised body. I had never imagined that I would be reduced to this—this pain, this humiliation, and above all, this sense of helplessness.I had been dragged into this mess, shackled by the lies Grace had so easily woven. But this punishment, this brutal whipping, was not just for what had happened, it was a result of everything I had become in their eyes. I could feel the blood seeping through my torn dress, pooling at my feet, a bitter reminder of the

Berrilyl’s POVGrace had found the perfect time to pin the blame on me. Now that Cage was annoyed with me it would be so easy for him to believe in Grace's lie. I knew I was going to be punished but I didn't expect that I would be a public slave and now I was said to be a spy. The weight of what was happening hit me like a tidal wave. I had always known Grace was a spy—there were too many small things about her that never added up, the way she could slip in and out of conversations without drawing attention, how she always seemed to be one step ahead. But now, at this moment, as everything I’d known began to unravel, I realized just how deep her manipulation ran.She wasn’t just a spy. Grace was something far worse—someone who had wormed her way into the most trusted circles, and she had manipulated everyone, even Cage. How else could she have turned everything I’d worked for against me so effortlessly? How else could she have made a man like Cage believe in her lies so fully? How d

Berrilyl's POVThe room felt as though it were closing in on me. Like arrows, accusations were flying around, each sharper than the last. Every voice around me seemed to grow louder, their words harsher. It suffocated me."You've endangered the pack, Berrilyl!" someone yelled."How many more chances do you expect us to give you?" another growled. She's a traitor. Always has been."I froze, my fists shaking at my sides. My heart drummed loudly in my ears, drowning out the chaos for a second. Then Cage's voice cut through the noise."Enough.The room fell silent. Everybody was now looking at him, but I just could not drag my gaze away from his face. His chilling eyes were set on me; the prey at the side, cornered by a predator."Berrilyl," he started saying, almost in derision, "do you have any idea how insecure this pack has been made to feel because of you? Do you even fathom what you have brought them to?"I blinked, my throat tightening. "I haven't done anything," I managed, though

Berrilyl's POVI couldn't hold it inside anymore, the anger, the humiliation, the betrayal. It boiled over, overflowing in a torrent of fury. I turned to the maids standing nearby, my voice rising above the muted mutterings of the crowd."You're all working for Grace, aren't you?" I exclaimed. My trembling finger pointed to each one of them accusingly. "Every last one of you! You've been informing her about me all along, reporting everything I did to her. Now I can see!The maids exchanged nervous glances, but none of them dared to speak up. They all stood there like statues, their hands clasped in front of them, their eyes wide with fear or guilt. My anger swelled further at their silence."And you!" I exclaimed, rounding on Talia who flinched as though I had struck her. "You are the worst of them all. I trusted you, Talia! I thought you were on my side, but you're just another one of her puppets, aren't you? How could you do this to me?"Talia's lips parted to say something, but no

Berrilyl's POVThe day seemed to stretch before it ended, it had become so slow. I couldn't help but wonder if it was real or just me but it was as if I had been staying there for months and it was just a day and when the day finally ended it was like I was going to be celebrating half of the year since I was entering a new month only that this time I was celebrating it with over hunger, and tiredness. But to my dismay it was only the second day and I had to be there for seven days. I still had five extra days awaiting me and it was certainly going to feel like a decade because I was feeling worse than ever.I couldn't scream again my voice had died out and it was just the second day but then I recalled that I had just been released from being locked for three days and was not so strong but I was getting better only to be brought back here for punishment. It was the most exhausting thing for me to be in. It was so hard. I didn't even have a day in peace before being followed by diff

Berrilyl's POVI was struck with shock. It was so crazy for her to think she could buy me like I was some sort of useless slave that she could just buy.We never had an encounter but it seemed like she must have been invited to the engagement ceremony. My days in the palace seemed to make me more confused, I was certain that I had done absolutely nothing to the girl in front of me but she was happy that I was in this condition and she obviously hated me since that's the only reason why she would be this happy. It was so enraging but I had no strength to speak and waste the little strength I had in talking to anyone. It was going to be useless but I felt so humiliated and not being able to defend myself made it worse. But I kept my mouth shut. The young lady smiled at me and from her look I knew she wasn't thinking of something good so I looked away. She then brought out a fruit and placed it in front of me. Immediately she did that my eyes shut open as I picked the scent and my stomac

Berrilyl's POV My body screamed in protest at being chained to the pillar for days on end. My lips were parched and cracked, my throat dry, and my stomach growled with an almost painful urgency.Every rumble seemed to mock me, reminding me of the while that had passed since I ate. The young lady stepped forward; the heels on her shoes clicked sharply against the stone pavement. Her dress was immaculate. Every movement she made expressed her confidence, and it was in extreme contrast with my present state of helplessness. She looked me up and down, her gaze full of disdain.Berrilyl," she said, her voice an insult. You should know your place Berrilyl, she said. "Do you know what your biggest mistake was?" I didn't answer. I didn't have the strength to. My head hung low, my hair plastered to my sweat-soaked face. Even if I wanted to, I wasn't sure I could muster a single word. She didn't seem to mind my silence. If anything, it emboldened her further. "Your mistake," she continued, "

Berrilyl's POVThe hunger had never let up, gnawing at my sides, until anything else was impossible to think about. The fruit held in Grace's hand was a cruel taunt-so close, and yet so far. She held it out as if she were capable of kindness, but I knew better than to trust her."Take it," she said in a voice that was dripping with saccharine sweetness. Her smile didn't fold to her eyes, and I could see the glint of malice lurking just beneath the surface. After a moment's hesitation, my stomach was growling growl loud and clear, almost deafening. Sharp pangs of hunger allowed no room for pride. I reached for the fruit with trembling fingers, swallowing the bile of my shame. But just as my fingertips brushed its smooth surface, Grace released it. The fruit tumbled to the ground, hitting the dirt with a dull thud."Oh," Grace gasped, her hand flying to her mouth in mock dismay. "How clumsy of me!"I stared in horror at the fruit lying in the dirt, my stomach lurching with despair. Befo

Cage's POV If someone had helped William escape from the hidden dungeon and find a way out of here, it either meant that he had brought someone with him who we didn't capture and was sneaking around then saw the perfect opportunity to let him go or we had a spy among us.The thought of having a spy in our midst left me dumbfounded. The spy must have known our pack so we'll that the hidden dungeon wasn't only unhidden but could be operated by whoever the spy was.Was I this careless to have never figured it out? When the spies were killed all of a sudden, I should have known there was still more to it, but I blamed Berrilyl since she always had more than one way of communicating with her brother, and I was caught up in so many problems that I forgot to investigate such a dangerous attempt further.Even if he had a someone with him who we didn't capture, there was no way the person would have got through the guards, the security system was tight which meant the only way he could escape

  • FATED TO UNWANTED MATE    Chapter 162

Cage's POVI wasn't that intoxicated. I was just tipsy. I knew where I was and what I was doing, still. But even with the alcohol in my system, I could feel my mind slipping, becoming less clear, less sharp. The edges of my world blurred, and everything felt a little lighter and easier to deal with. With that said, I didn't attack Berrilyl. She had already left, and something made me know it was not yet time to follow her. She was angry and scared. I could see that from her eyes as she turned her back on me. But she needed space, and I knew that if I followed her, things would just get worse. It was not the first time Berrilyl had left me, and I knew it would not be the last. So I simply released her.I did what I always did whenever I had to focus on other things instead. I took a hold of the mask again. It was more about obscuring my mind, and my emotions rather than hiding my face. My feelings. My thoughts. The mask gave me a feeling of control and detachment. Wearing it, I felt so

Berrilyl's POVIt was a day to my engagement already, and I had decided to carry out my plan. I had prepared for days now on how to escape, but the only way out that I could think of was to get rid of Cage. It was the last thing I could think of to save myself from getting married to him, and tonight I was going to carry out my plan. The night was calm as I walked down the halls of the mansion. There was just the soft thud of my steps against the quiet. My heart was racing, and I felt this crazy mix of fear and resolve. Was I going to do it? I stood before Cage's door.My mind was telling me that this was what I needed to do, but my body was tense and unsure. I'd never been more nervous in my life. I'd practiced this moment so many times in my mind, but now that it was here, it wasn't quite the same. Still, I could not go back. I had to move forward.I pushed the door inward slowly, as quietly as possible. The room was black except for the feeble flickering of candle flames at the ed

  • FATED TO UNWANTED MATE    Chapter 160

Authors POVThe Pack hall was decorated with golden chandeliers, it was warm and welcoming, it was a room full of laughter and conversation, merriment filling the air as people sipped wine. The aroma of freshly baked bread, fruits, and roasted meats wafted through the air, it was a feast to commemorate the joyful news, his second wife was pregnant.William was sitting at the head of the table, a grin was spread across his face as he watched the guests he invited. His second wife, sat at his side, she was beaming with pride as people from all over came to her. Her hands were draped over her rounded stomach, it was a sight of bliss as she enjoyed the constant congratulations from the elders, the high-ranking wolves of the pack and the guests invited. You should be so proud, Alpha William," an Elder, an old wolf with a streak of gray in his hair, said as he bowed to his alpha. "A child to carry on your line. Today is a day of blessing."He saidWilliam nodded. "It is. I longed for a long

Berrilyl's POVThe wind whipped against my fur as I ran through the thick woods, my paws soft whispers on the wet earth. Cain's angry bellowing echoed behind me, each sentence distorted with rage and anger."Berrilyl! You bloody traitor! You will not get away from this!"I did not slow. I did not look back. I just ran.I could still hear him running through the underbrush, but I knew he can never catch me. Not now. My wolf was faster, much faster than his. That was the one advantage I had on him. And right now, I needed every advantage I could get.A snarling growl burst through the shadows as Cain's anger reached its boiling point. "You'll regret this! I swear it!"Regret?I'd forgotten about regret years ago.I approached the estate perimeter stealthily upon my arrival, covering myself so as not to be seen before I snuck past the guards. My heart pounding, I sprinted through the halls as a wolf, sticking close to darkness. Every sensory nerve in my body was cranked up to full.I man

Chapter 158Berrilyl's POVFinding myself in a spacious room was getting kinda freaky. I turned to leave but heard the door slamming shit behind me instead. The maid had already run away. I tried to open it but it was locked. I was trapped.I couldn't make sense of elegant was going on. Who asked her to do this to me? I didn't have beef with anybody except for the envy or disgust of the maids but none of them dared to do this."Damn it" I muttered to myself. I had seen this coming but still allowed myself to fall into the trap. Was it the doing of Grace? She definitely hated me; the way she glared at me during the time of Cage's Rut showed she didn't want me at all in her life, which meant this was the perfect time for me to die. Days before the engagement, if the engagement didn't happen her chances with him would be greater. I could only hope it wasn't true. My life had never been worse and I was getting scared. Suddenly, I heard, "You are mine, Berrilyl" it was Cain's menacing vo

  • FATED TO UNWANTED MATE    Chapter 157

Berrilyl's POVI woke up to the sound of a gentle tapping and an unfamiliar voice that called my name.A maid and an unfamiliar woman stood beside my bed, their faces courteous. I rubbed my face trying to get the sleep away from my eyes and shake off the haze of slumber."Good morning, miss," the maid said, curtsying low. "This is one of the best seamstresses, and she's here to measure you" The maid introduced me to the other woman."Okay. Good morning" I said, greeting the both of them. There were clothes of my size in the palace, so I didn't know why, out of nowhere, my measurements were suddenly needed. I was about to ask them why my measurements were needed when the seamstress said,"Happy engagement ceremony ma'am. You have a great figure and would look very stunning on your special day"My mind went blank as I stared at the seamstress, her words slowly sinking into my head.Engagement ceremony? I facepalmed myself, feeling like I'd been hit by a fast-moving truck.I smiled symp

  • FATED TO UNWANTED MATE    Chapter 156

Cage's POVThe letter came out of the blue, and its contents were completely unexpected. I'd expected it to be a minor update. But the second I opened the letter, things changed. It turned out that the letter had been written by William's first wife, Lucia, and its purpose was clear: it was meant to be sent back to her Pack so they could take revenge on William on her behalf. The realization hit me hard. Lucia, once seen as a quiet, obedient wife, was now taking a stand. The assassin who had brought me the letter seemed to grasp the gravity of the situation. He began to tell me about how Lucia had been treated for some days now, how William had become increasingly cold and callous. At first, their marriage had been a respectful one, but slowly, William had begun to neglect her, paying no heed to her feelings and requirements. He had been aloof and disinterested, busy with other things, other wives, and keeping her in the background.Lucia was not a woman to be discarded. She had been

Chapter 155Cage's POVIt was night already and I couldn't sleep, I kept thinking of how I would capture William. My mind was sharp, scheming my next move. I had to get it right because I couldn't afford to mess up. William was a dangerous man, and I had to outsmart him.Suddenly, I felt a change in the air, something out of the ordinary. The room became chilly, and I could hear a soft sound—like clothing moving across the floor. I leaped up immediately, my senses heightened. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a figure coalesce.A man in a black robe appeared in the room. The robe was dark enough that it blended with the shadows, and the man was almost invisible to the light. It appeared soundlessly as if it was an extension of the night.I couldn't make out the face of the figure, but I could see his eyes. They were sharp, focused, and glimmering faintly in the faint light. Those eyes were chilly, calculating as if they were watching every move I made. Then, without uttering a word,
