The DIscovery
I stare at my self in the mirror, looking at the dress I am wearing. I have been in my Parent's house for the past week, after I took a break from work to travel to New York."Are you okay?" Jane asks, and I smile at her, grateful for her presence."I am fine, just a bit on edge." I say, lying, trying to understand how my entire life got ruined in a matter of days."Hey, look on the bright side," Jane says, standing before me."Your actual parents - The Merchettis are quite rich, you could make all your dreams come true, travel, and just enjoy, I mean, how bad can it be?" She says, and I laugh."I am just wondering, shouldn't Scarlette be here, since we were switched at birth?" I voice my worry."Maybe she just needs few weeks to understand everything. You could be great friends."I stare at her, bite my lips and nod."Take care of yourself, tell me everything that happens at work, and maybe go on a date, dumb his ass." I say, and she smiles sadly, the kisses my cheek."Hals." Mom says, walking to us. I watch Jane give us some privacy."Are you okay?" Dad says, and I nod, lying."I will be fine, and will be home before you even know it." I say, and they nod."We are very sorry Hayley, for everything. You are always our baby girl." Mom says, and I hug her._____I watch the convoy waiting for me, and wonder if I can run away, because what the hell, five cars, for me?"Damn, babe." Jane says, and I stare at her."Calm down, and walk like a Queen." She says, taking in my frightened expression."Miss Hayley." I hear, and see a man in black staring at me."We are ready to go." He says, and I nod, watching similarly dressed men take my bags into the car.I say my Goodbyes, and walk down, staring at my Family, before entering the car, knowing I am going to a place that is far from home, somewhere that is supposedly my home. For the next seven hours, I am in a car, then a private jet, then back in a car, and everything leads me here, to this Mansion, in New York."Follow me, Miss Hayley." The man says, he has been at my side all through, making sure I am fed and comfortable.I follow him into the big mansion, marvelling at its beautiful aesthetics, this is a far cry from my studio apartment, or my Parent's home."Here." He says, and we stop walking, we are in a living room."River, thank you very much, you should take tommorow off, rest." I hear, and I turn to see a man, two women walking towards us, I do notice the absence of smiles on the womens face."Thank you Alpha." The man, whose name I have found out to be River says to the man, and I frown in confusion, Alp what?"Goodbye Miss Hayley." He says, and walks away, making my eyes widen, he is leaving me with them, I resist the urge to reach out."Hayley," The man walks to me."Take a seat." He says, and I take one opposite them."What kind of name is Hayley?" The young woman sneers, and I realize she is Scarlette."A poor person's name, no doubt, my love." The woman says, and I raise my eyebrows."Quiet." The man says, and they fall silent."Pardon them. I am Alpha Lucien James Merchetti."There's that word again - Alpha"Hi, I am Hayley. Sorry, but what does Alpha means?" I ask. There's silence and the women burst into laughters."Get out." The Alpha says, and they get up, walk out, but not before giving me the stink eye."Call me Viola and River." He adds as they walk away."Hayley, River will take you to your room, so you can freshen up, I would like you to meet me here in twenty minutes, can you?"I smile and nod my head.______Twenty minutes later, I am sitting before him and a older woman."Hi, Hayley, I am Viola." She says, and I nod."Hi.""How did you like your room?" She asks, and I smile, remembering the large room, with a full closet, and books."I like it quite much, thank you, Alpha. Can I call you that?" I ask"Of course, that is what we need to discuss with you." He says with a smile and similar blue eyes."Hayley, what do you know aboute Werewolves?" Viola says, and I frown at her."Werewolves?" I say, and she nods."Uhm, they are humans who change into Wolves at a particular period of time, they can change by will, some, I guess. I don't know much about them.""What if I told you they are real?" Da -- Alpha says, and I sit upright."What?""This might seem like a lot, but Werewolves are real, and you are one." Viola says, and I laugh."Werewolves change when they turn eight, I'm twenty-eight.""Yes, and it is called repression. Your environment contributed to that, you weren't in your home, which is in a Pack, here, among other Wolves." Viola says.I say nothing, biting my lips, my mind tilting off the axis "So I am one?""Yes.""A wolf, everyone here is a Wolf?""Yes, Hayley."Fuck."Can I take a breather, we could continue tomorow or in a few weeks." I say, and he laughs."Alright, we will continue tommorow, but you should know this, now that you are home, your wolf within will call, and you will find your mate, it is ten years of action all being pushed into a day or two.""Mate?" I frown."A Mate is one's soulmate, made for and from you." Dad says and I nod."So, what you are saying is, coupled with everything, I am going to have to marry a strange man, that was made from me. iIs the whole Mate thing always correct, never wrong?" I ask, and notice the look they send each other, a very weird one, filled with longing?"Sometimes it is, but that is rare. The young women you saw are my daughter and wife." He says, and I bite my lips, she is not is daughter, I am his daughter, but I say nothing.______"Babee." I groan as Jane pick my cal, feeling a bit relieved at her beautiful face.I am currently walking away from the mansion pretending to be oblivious, and not see the group of men walking behind me."How is everythin there, tell me everything." She smiles and I wonder if I should tell her, I do not understand half of everything, so I decide against it, and chose my words carefully."I met him, Lucien Merchetti." I say, and she nods."How is he?""He is good, treading carefully like he doesn't want to break me, and I appreciate it, because I am overwhelmed. I took a walk to clear my head and there are currently five men walking behind me, protecting, I guess.""Wow." She exhale, and I nod my head."How are you, how is work and James?" I ask, diverting the attention away from how chaotic my life has gotten."I broke up with James, for good this time." She says, and I gasp."I am so proud of you. Now, you are flying solo, I am so sorry I'm not there with you, but I will be home soon." I assure and she nods, before hanging up.I walk down the street, staring at the coffee shops, and amazing bookshops. San Francisco is beautiful, but there's just something about New York."Oh, hi." I hear, and look behind me to see a petite woman, I glance at the men behind me, but there do nothing, an indication that she is not a threat."Hi, I am Hayley." I say, looking at her fiery red hair and bright green eyes."Hi, I am Bree. Love your dress, made me come to you." She gushes and I smile, looking at the brown dress I have on."Thank you Bree. I am new to Town, and need to try out the best resturant, can you recommend?"She gives me a knowing smile "I know you are Alpha's long lost daughter, everyone knows, so you don't need to lie."For some reason, her words rub against me the wrong way. "I didn't lie, I am new to Town, am I not?" I say, an edge of annoyance in my voice."Actually, Bree, I'll find my way back to the house, thank you." I say, and turn to walk away, remembering her words about everyone knowing and feeling self concious, the stares I have been getting, the whispers, the truth was slowly dawning in, but I was in denial."I am sorry, I shouldn't have said that. If it ever feels to much, you are always welcomed." She says, gestures to a Cafe which has her name on it.I say nothing, then walk back home, feeling the stares, points, and anger on almost everyone's face.______"Look what the cat drag in." Scarlette says as I walk back in, to see everyone sitted at the Dining table."Right on time, Katherina, join us." Alpha smiles at me and I frown, wondering how he knows my middle name.I look round the table, taking everyone in, noting some people I do not recognize, probably here to see the Alpha's long lost daughter, I can feel the ridicule on my tongue."Sit, child, before you waste away." Melissa, his wife, and the woman who gave birth to me, tsks.I sit, and swallow the wave of nasaeu that floods me, what the hell? I glance at the food, and serve myself Pasta, with nothing, because that is all I can stomach."This is your Mate, Katherina." The Alpha says, and I drop my spoon, making it clatter."Classy." Scarlette snickers, but I don't look at her."I do not know much about Mate and the whole Werewolves stuff -- ""Stuff?" Melissa spits the word, but I continue."But, I know that you just don't do that, you don't say, oh, hey, Emily, this is your mate.""Yes, we understand, but since everything is different for you, we decided you should be given a good mate, start your Family, and fully emerse yourself here, we are sure along the lines your Wolf will come out." Viola says, and I frown."What they are saying, sister, is you are fucked and a burden, why not get you off my hands, even if its with my sloopy seconds." Scarlette smiles sweetly, but I see the poison in the words.I stare at Viola, then the Alpha, and the man they want me to marry, a blonde man who looks to be in his mid thirties, and wandering hands."I am Stephan, and it will be my utmost pleasure to marry you." He says, and I roll my eyes, as another wave of naseau rushes into me."That makes one of us.""I know this might all be strange, but you should take some time to understand everything." Viola says, and I get up."Who are you, his sister?" I ask, in confusion, but notice the way she shifts uncomfortably in her seat, and the redness in Melissa's cheek, ha, secrets."I am his best friend." She says, faltering between word."Shouldn't his wife be his best friend, Is that not the point of the divine mate bond. Anyway, I am not staying, so no point for a mate." I say, and Scarlette smiles sweetly, but my gaze flows between the Alpha, Melissa and Viola, what are they hiding? The DiscoveryYou are not staying?" The Alpha says, getting up, just another wave rocks through me -- what the hell? "Might I suggest a brief walk or few minutes of your time?" Stephan says. "I'll rather not, excuse me." I say, walking to my room, knowing I am leaving this hell hole first thing in the morning. "Katherina, wait." Stephen says, and I jolt backwards. "Hayley, that's my name, do not make the mistake again. What do you want?" He grins and says "World domination sounds nice, but I will settle for a Skyline with my name on it, and of course for you to die." I stare at him, then behind him when I see Scarlette walking toward us, with a similar look. I watch as they kiss, and basically dry hump each other, I am going to puke. "I would have settled for you leaving, but Step obviously has a better idea." She says, and I feel conered. "Your existence is a threat, and we would like to erase that threat, permanently." He says, and I am frozen in fear, not that I will let th
I stare at the beautiful woman in front of me, her big blue eyes that unnerve my soul, with her heart shaped mouth. I still can not believe that my one night stand in San Francisco is my mate, and apparantly, the mother of my child."You are pregnant." I repeat, the words settling in."Yes." She says, her voice a bit shaken, and I realize that she is terrified."Fuck." I say, getting up, letting reality wash over me -- a child won't be bad, but I expected to raise my child away from the chaos of our world, and now, I have to make a decision."Do you want to keep the baby?" I ask softly and she looks at me with wide and angry eyes."I am going to keep my baby, she is mine, and you can fuck off for thinking I would ever hurt her."I say nothing, just marvel at her protectiveness and choice of pronoun."I am just asking what you want to do, and I will abide by your decisions, no matter what." I bite my lips as I say that. She looks at me, and the ghost of a smile flitters across
Unable to help it, I get up and say "You are not going to San Francisco, you are having my baby, you are my mate, you are mine in every way that count."She looks up and spits "You better be kidding me. When I said I will keep the baby, it didn't include you. Mate? Fuck that, I don't know what it means, and all these won't matter when I go back to teaching in San Francisco.""What d you expect me to do?" I ask, indulging her."Let me go, stay the fuck away, and I will call you when the baby is born, I am naming her Emily." She says, and I look at her with my mouth open."What did you just say? Stay away, you'll call me when my daughter is born? Absolutely not. I will be there for every fucking thing, do not fight me on this, Rose." I glare at her."Oh go fuck yourself, my name is Hayley." but before she can continue speaking, her eyes widen."Restroom?" She mouths, and makes a run for it when I gesture. Her head is in the Toilet bowl as she spills all the toasts and juice she a
"Have you tried reasoning with her?" Lucien suggest and I frown, but nod. I get up, then turn to them and say "You should tell her, or I will." "It is not your place, Roman, do not dare me." Lucien says, and I laugh. "Looks like you grew some balls, Lucien, you're just three decades too late." I laugh, walking out. "Fuck you, Roman." He say, his voice echoing. _____ "Ro." Rose walks to the Living Room in my shirt, with her brunette hair a mess. "Hey." I smile, closing my laptop. "How are you feeling?" I ask. It is in the middle of the night and she has been asleep since late noon. When I got back from her Fathers', she was still asleep. "Relaxed, but there's an itch." She says, and I frown, sitting beside her on the couch. "What, where?" She arches her back, her full breast pushing up, and I bite my tongue, going instantly hard. "Down there." She says, then run her hand down her breast, till it's at her core, she is wearing no panties. Fuck. "Please." She whimpers, and I
"Let her go, I guess." He says, and I grit my teeth. "Listen, Roman, she is your Mate - The Lycan King's Mate, do you know what that means. If it was my Mate, then she could stay away from me, despite the intense pull, but for you and Katherina, the pull is triple, you are bound to each other, no matter what." "So, let her go, she will come back, and if she doesn't, you haul her ass back home." He winks, and I smile. _____ "Where's Caspian?" She says, walking into the Living Room, in my brown dress, that clings to her body, like a second skin. "Had to work." I say, and she sits beside me. "What do you do?" She tilts her head, biting her lips in a way that should look adorable, but is hot as hell. "I own series of Companies across Europe and America." I say, hoping she doesn't ask any more questions about it. "Oh, I am an High School teacher, well, I used to be, comsidering going back seems faded." She says, and I stare at her, about to ask her what she means, when the gatebell
How long will she be there? "As long as you take care of yourself. You should know, Katherina, you can not be away from Roman for long. You are his mate, and he is a Lycan, your bond is a little too late, seeing your ages, and your Wolf's repression, everything can be overwhelming the longer you stay away, and you will need his Wolf to help you reach equilibruim." I should give Emmaline a raise for her words. "Oh, of course." Rose says, witha little frown. _____ I stare at Rose and her friend - Bree. "So, The Lycan King is your baby daddy, Katherina." Bree says, and Rose blushes. "Ladies, Caspian will be here any moment, and we will be in my off -- " I start to say, but I am cut off by his entrance. "Say the devil's name, and he shall appear." I mutter. "That's not how the saying goes, Ro." Caspian say, with a big grin, which fades off when he sees Bree. "Caspian De Martel." He says, smiling and extending his hand to her. She looks at him with narrowed eyes "Well, Caspian D
“Can you three leave here, immediately?” I heard Caspian ask again in an irritated tone. Now I understand the saying that goes, don't be kissed by a fool and don't be fooled by a kiss.My mistake, I am definitely leaving his house, I'm leaving this place. And back to my reality I will return. I followed Bree up the stairs not looking back once, Roman was not in any way worth it. I deserve better. For someone that kept singing about me being his mate and the mother of his child, he was really open to different women wasn't he?“Katherina, are you alright?” I heard Bree’s voice snapping me out of my deep thoughts.I didn't even realize we had gotten to the room.I nodded my head even though I knew I was lying to myself, Bree could definitely see it too. “I really don't know what to say regarding what happened, but I feel you should maybe talk to him” Bree said.“About what?” I snapped at her, shocking both myself and Bree.I sighed, rubbing the temple of my head.“I'm sorry” I said l
LEAVINGThe sound of the rain tapping on my window drifted me awake. I opened my eyes looking up at my ceiling as I rubbed me foot between my sheets and the duvet. My flight was scheduled to leave in a few hours times. I thought back to the event of these last weeks, how my life had turned upside down, within the twinkle of an eye. I sank in those thoughts as my eyes remained glued to the ceiling above me. After the drama with Roman, ‘my sister’ Scarlett and the other two she came along with, I couldn't stand his presence, so I decided to stay with Bree since then. And she has been nothing but absolutely wonderful to me. The morning sickness came from time to time and it wasn't very pleasing to start your day with your head in a toilet bowl. I would never have been able to tell that my life would be this way If you had asked me a year ago. ————“How are you feeling?” I heard Bree ask walking into her guest room. She had two rooms in her house and I was currently occupying one
Happily Ever AfterHayley's POVThe morning sun shone through the windows as I stared at the garden below, savoring the beautiful view of it. It was like a gentle whisper of hope, soft and tentative, whispering through my ears. My fingers traced the windowsill, exploring the smooth, weathered wood beneath my touch - each groove and grain a tactile memory of our tumultuous journey. Two days. Just two days since Roman had returned from a battle that had threatened to unravel everything we knew, a conflict that had hovered on the razor's edge of total destruction.Memories cascaded through my mind like fragmented scenes from a nightmare. The metallic scent of blood. The paralysis of fear. That horrifying moment when time seemed to stop, and I believed I might lose everything I had come to love. But not today.Today was different.Today was about healing.About redemption.About hope rekindled.Downstairs, the kitchen was a symphony of preparation. We had hired more cooks for the celeb
A Promising Future Roman's POV I opened my eyes to the soft morning light coming through the windows. The pain in my chest was less now, thanks to the healing I got last night. Rose sat next to me on our bed, her hand gentle on my arm. She looked tired but happy."How are you feeling?" she asked softly, her fingers threading through my hair with such tenderness it made my heart ache. Dark circles circled her eyes, evidence of her exhaustion from last night, but her smile held all the warmth of the morning sun.I caught her hand in mine, pressing my lips to her knuckles, breathing in the familiar scent of her skin. "Better. The healing worked better than I expected." Every word was true – the piercing pain that had threatened to tear me apart was now just a memory."That's good." Her smile wavered slightly, worry dancing in the depths of her green eyes like shadows in still water. "The twins are still sleeping now. But they gave me a hard time sleeping last night. It's like they c
A New Dawn Hayley's POV I paced the hospital corridor as we waited for Dad to wake up. The fluorescent lights shone too bright even though it was already night, making the white walls seem even more clinical. I sat down in an uncomfortable plastic chair and shifted numerous times, my muscles protesting after hours of sitting. Next to me, Viola kept checking her phone, her fingers drumming an anxious rhythm on her thigh. Bree had gone home to rest about an hour ago, practically falling asleep on her feet. I'd insisted she get some proper sleep, promising to call if anything changed. The twins were with Dora, and even though I trusted her completely, my thoughts kept drifting to them. It was the longest I'd been away since they were born. "Family of Lucien Merchetti?" A doctor's voice drew my attention to the doorway. She was young, probably in her early thirties, with kind eyes that crinkled at the corners when she smiled. "You can go in and see him now, but just for a litt
The Final Battle Roman's POVThe private jet touched down in San Francisco just as the sun began its descent behind the horizon. My muscles were tense from the flight, but my mind was sharp, focused on the hunt ahead.Beside me, Caspian checked his phone for the hundredth time, his usual playful demeanor replaced by cold determination."Our tracking team is already working on Scarlett's location," I told him as we climbed into the waiting SUV. "They'll have coordinates for us within minutes." I informed him."Good." Caspian's voice was clipped. "The sooner we end this, the better." He added. As we drove to my wolves' team here in San Francisco, I pulled out my phone to hear from Rose back in New York. My fingers hovered over Rose's number for a moment before I pressed call. She answered on the first ring, her voice tight with worry."Roman? Did you find them?" She asked me.Just hearing her voice made my wolf whine. "We're close. The tracking team is working on it now." I leaned aga
Escape Before DawnRoman's POV We sat at the back of the garden, and the late afternoon shone across the immaculately beautiful lawn. My wolf paced restlessly beneath my skin as I watched Scarlett and Stephan exchange their vows, not fooled by the serene facade of this wedding. Everything about them looked fake – the forced smiles, the tension crackling in the air, the way my guards tried to blend into the background while keeping their eyes fixed on Melissa.Rose was beside me, her hand warm in mine, her emerald dress making her skin glow in the fading light. She was trying to keep her composure, but I could feel the slight tremor in her fingers. I found myself thinking about our own future wedding, the one we'd have once all this mess was over. It would be different – filled with joy instead of suspicion, love instead of hatred."You may kiss the bride," the officiant announced, his voice carrying across the hushed garden.I leaned closer to Rose, my lips brushing her ear as I wh
Scarlett's Wedding Hayley's POV I stood before the full-length mirror in our bedroom, pulling down the hem of my emerald green dress for the hundredth time now. I felt nervous. The silk material mused against my skin as I stretched it, but even its luxurious touch couldn't calm my nerves. Today was my sister's wedding—if you could call someone who'd tried to kill you a sister."Stop fidgeting, Rose." Roman's deep voice called from the doorway. I didn't have to turn because I saw his reflection in the mirror before me, and my breath hitched in my throat. He looked devastatingly handsome in his charcoal suit, his dark hair slightly tousled as if he'd been running his fingers through it. His eyes, those piercing amber orbs that never failed to see right through me, held mine in the mirror."I can't help it," I mumbled, smoothing my hands over my stomach. The twins' birth had left its marks, but Bree had chosen this dress perfectly—it hugged in all the right places while still being ap
Three Days of GraceRoman's POVIt was three days before Scarlett's wedding. I was pacing my study in the early morning, thinking. Dawn hadn't yet broken when Caspian arrived and joined me in the study. I had called him earlier. I'd been up for hours now, my wolf restless beneath my skin. The weight of leadership had never felt heavier than in these moments, when every decision could mean life or death for those I loved."Three days," Caspian said, leaning back in his chair. Dark circles under his eyes suggested he'd been up all night too. "Are we really going through with getting Melissa out for the wedding?" He asked me.I paused my pacing to rub my temples, where a headache had been building since midnight. I turned to walk to the window, watching as the sun shone down in the garden looking too peaceful for the turmoil in my mind."I don't know," I admitted, my voice rough from lack of sleep. The thought of letting Melissa out made my wolf snarl with protective rage. "With ever
Betrayal in Plain SightRoman's POVThis morning I woke up with new determination. I rubbed my tired eyes, determined to review more surveillance footage. Yesterday's run with Rose had helped clear my mind, made the bitterness and pain more manageable. I didn't expect to find anything new in the recordings, but I had to try. I had barely started hearing the recordings in my study. Then I heard it.Scarlett's voice came through the speakers, trembling slightly. "I don't know what to do. He's going to banish me from New York. I have nowhere to go." She cried.I leaned forward, turning up the volume. A female voice responded, making my anger spike."Come to San Francisco. We need to stick together now more than ever," the voice said. "It's time we dealt with Roman and Hayley once and for all." She told her. Wait. That voice sounds familiar. My fingers gripped the edge of my desk. That voice... I knew that voice."Are you sure?" Scarlett asked, hope creeping into her tone."Yes. Just co
Comfort in ChaosHayley's POVMy heart ached as I watched Roman storm upstairs to his study, his shoulders rigid with tension. The sound of his footsteps echoed through the foyer, each step heavy with the weight of yesterday's revelations. Viola's eyes followed his retreating form, and concern appeared on her elegant features."Kate, darling," Viola said softly, reaching across the table to squeeze my hand. "I've never seen him this tense, even for Roman. What has happened?" She asked me.I sighed, running my fingers through my hair. The morning sunlight streaming through the windows suddenly felt too bright, too cheerful for the heaviness in my chest. "He visited his mother in the dungeon yesterday," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "She told him... she told him Victor might be his real father."The silence that followed was deafening. Bree's coffee cup clattered against its saucer, the sound sharp in the quiet room."Oh my God," Bree breathed, her blue eyes wide. "Are you
