LOYAL SERVANTS WE’VE LOST

Fred walked up to David’s bed with his lashes flickering with excitement.

“I'll go get the doctor!” Eleanor announced and flew out.

Sylvia and David stood before Fred, displaying warm smiles.

“I feel like I just resurrected,” Fred mumbled. He turned to Sylvia. “You’re crying. You thought I wasn’t going to make it right?”

She giggled and gave repeated nods. She then resolved to wipe her teary eyes with the edge of her palms. “I’ll be right back.

Sylvia left the ward in her bid to grant David and Fred privacy.

“Come and help me take this off!” Fred pointed at the drip hooked to his hand.

“You’ve taken off your oxygen mask already. Let the rest of the things be, Fred. The doctor will sort it out.”

Fred sighed and cast his gaze on the white ceiling. “For how long was I dead?”

David laughed. He folded his arms around his chest. “Three days. You gave us a scare for three fucking days.”

Fred slowly turned to David. “Are you sure you weren’t happy while I was in a coma?”

David chuckled. “Cut
