Two o'clock in the afternoon, Harper was inking her medical record to write down the results she got from her visit to Florentina's and Mr. Claford's room.
Florentina was admitted to this hospital three days ago because of her suicide attempt. The young girl's soul was shaken after being subjected to the mistreatment of her neighbor. According to her mother's testimony, Florentina had never shown a gloomy or weird attitude before a week ago. Suddenly the girl often locked herself in the room, daydreaming, and sometimes also crying in the middle of the night. Whenever her mother asked the reason behind her attitude, Florentina always told her mother that she was okay. The poor girl always used the excuse that she missed her father when her mother caught her crying while drowning her face in the pillow.
But Florentina's strange attitude from day to day became more and more worrying. Her mother said that Florentina had asked permission for two days not to go to school because she complained that her body hurt. There was not the slightest suspicion that the mother managed to catch when the girl decided to stay at home and shut herself up in a room, apart from the suspicion that her daughter had been infected with the virus. She thought Florentina just had the flu and missed her father, who had worked as a technician on a cruise ship for three years.
Two days later just passed. The next day Florentina returned to school as usual. Her mother even admitted that she felt relieved that her daughter was not attacked by a dangerous disease. But later that evening the mother suddenly felt like her heart stopped for a few seconds when she found her daughter's body lying covered in blood in the bathtub. In a panic, Mrs. Hudson immediately dialed 911 and also called her neighbors to move Florentina's soaked body into the bath tube to be taken to the hospital.
With a slow sigh, Harper wrote down Florentina's mental development this afternoon. She is grateful because, on this third day, Florentina has started to open up to her. The girl slowly started to bring out her emotions. Florentina cried for twenty minutes in her room when she came to check. In her tears, Florentina told her that she had been raped twice by her neighbor's son who was twenty years old. The condition of her house, which was always deserted, made the man have the heart to commit crimes at Florentina's house because the man felt that Florentina would never dare to talk about the rape to anyone.
But unfortunately, one week ago Florentina found that her menstrual cycle was not happening. She then frantically tried several test packs at once which she bought secretly at the pharmacy to test her terrible guess. Of the three test packs she used, all three showed positive signs that she was pregnant.
After that, the world of Florentine seemed to collapse. She no longer has the zeal to live. The girl even admitted that she hated seeing her face in the mirror. Two days ago her mother screamed hysterically in her daughter's nursery when she found Florentina breaking a glass sink in her bathroom. After that, the medics immediately drugged her and cleaned all the broken glass from Florentina's bathroom so that the girl could not attempt suicide again.
Remembering Florentina's condition, Harper felt her heart pinched. She is concerned about the condition of her patients who are mostly victims of sexual violence. Looks like this world is already full of bad people.
How lucky she was that she had never felt their pain. Even though her life couldn't be said to be beautiful, she felt grateful so far. Her uncle and aunt who live in Montreal love her very much. She is the embodiment of a dream child that they never had. As for her mother's father, they died many years ago. Long before she knew their figures. So far, she feels grateful because she doesn't need to feel sad. After all, her parents left her. But even so, sometimes she also keeps her curiosity about the figure of her parents which she can only remember through photos of their youth.
Well... she was grateful that she never felt the sadness of losing her parents. But she was unlucky because she met that man. He was the one who gave her pain for the first time. And he is the one who makes it difficult to get a new love at an age that is mature enough to have a lover.
Like Amber who owns Tyler. She also wants to have someone who loves her. But so far that fear still lingered in her heart. The man made her so afraid to step into a man's arms. Although men out there volunteered to be her lover openly or through code, she is too reluctant to respond to them. She is still afraid to look back on her dark past with that man.
"Huh..." While exhaling roughly, Harper immediately closed her medical record book and put the thick book into the drawer.
"Get out of my head, Alex!"

The phone on the table kept ringing loudly. But everyone was too busy just to pick up an incoming call from a phone set in the middle of the criminologist's office. Everyone is too dizzy with the various crime reports that came in today or months ago.
But once again the phone rings. A man who just came back from the meeting room stared irritably at his guys who were busy whizzing like a bee without paying attention to the sound of the phone which was almost muffled by their whirring sound.
"Toronto Police Station, criminology division."
The standard greeting he had memorized from his years on the police force in Toronto took off before he could think of the words he could utter in the bustle of his division.
"We've got a 911 call, there's been a murder in Sherbrooke."
"That's the Quebec region, not ours."
While holding the phone, the man with the uniform and badge pinned to his shoulder stared at his guys who were now starting to notice his presence among them. Automatically they lowered their whirring sound and no longer sounded so loud in front of their division head.
"The victim is still listed as a resident of Toronto."
Shit! The man silently cursed because of a new case that had come at a bad time. Amber would have been very angry with him if today he canceled his promise to buy an engagement ring again.
"What happened?"
“A resident recently found the body of a woman in a sewer near his house. When found, the corpse was rotten. There were many beating wounds all over her body."
"A woman? Murder?"
Tyler massaged his forehead dizzy at the report. If the body is a resident of Toronto, he cannot turn a blind eye to the investigation. Most likely the woman was killed and dumped in Sherbrooke because the place is quite far away and not as busy as Toronto. But that investigation will take some time. Even though he has an engagement party in five days.
"Seems so. Nobody recognized the woman. Only one identity card was found in her pocket."
"Weird," muttered Tyler thoughtfully. Likely, the body was deliberately dumped in Sherbrooke to be found. "Her other stuff? Or any other clue regarding the corpse? Maybe robbery."
"Sorry, nothing. The corpse was completely alone and was floating near a sewer belonging to residents. The local police have come to alleviate the residents' anxiety, but the local police leave the investigation task to the Toronto police."
"I'll send my men there. Thank you."
Tyler immediately hung up the phone and turned to his guys, who were now no longer making a sound. The whirring sound suddenly disappeared as Tyler stared at them one by one with faces as flat as the streets of downtown.
“New case. The Sherbrooke murders."
Tyler knew immediately that his guys were not interested in this case. They are all preoccupied with the pursuit of a suspected terrorist who had screwed up in LA last week. He was even confused by a group of suspected terrorists because they are currently hiding in a place in Toronto. Or maybe they are already preparing to move to another city after tearing up Toronto like what they did in LA one month ago.
"Sorry sir, we are short on personnel. Most of our members are currently going undercover to pursue the terrorists."
"I'm sure there are still a handful of people who are not preoccupied with the pursuit of terrorists."
Everyone is silent. Nobody took the initiative to raise their hand and accept this case as the next task to be completed. To avoid Tyler's glare, some people began to busy themselves with papers that contained whatever they were. For Tyler it was disgusting. His guys, Frankly, didn't want to get involved in this new case. They must be lazy because that case was the case at Sherbrooke. But unfortunately, the case will still belong to his division. Or if not, the killer will find another victim who can be executed.
“Damn it! Don't just shut up! Morris, Andrew, Jackson, you guys come with me on this case. No rejection!"
Tyler immediately issued absolute orders and a threatening glare at his guys who almost made a subtle refusal.
"Sorry sir, Andrew is on leave, his wife gave birth."
"Shit!" Tyler cursed loudly at this. There is no other choice but to join the case and put aside his engagement with Amber. To hell with that woman. He knew that Amber would be angry and reluctant to be his wife later. But he always had a thousand and one ways to force her, Tyler thought irritably.
"We're leaving now. Priston, you can find out more about the identity of Miss Emerson, maybe right now her family is busy looking for her," said Tyler firmly before he walked out of his division's cramped room, slamming the brown door behind him.

She continued to grumble and shout shamelessly in front of her office. Five minutes ago her work hours were over. The plan was that she would buy a ring for an engagement party in five days. But unfortunately, the man again broke his promise for a variety of reasons for his busy life.
"You have denied it over a hundred times."
"Forgive me."
“Is that all you can say? Forgive me?" the woman sneered.
She had even been looking forward to this day with great impatience. Today's working hours seem so slow because she wants to hurry up and buy an engagement ring with Tyler this afternoon. But then all failed because the pretentious, busy, and powerful man returned to having a job he couldn't be bothered with.
"I have a case to solve."
"It's always the case that is your excuse. I'm sick of you, I'm tired of this relationship. We'd better just cancel our engagement," said Amber annoyed. Tears had welled up in her eyes as she said something completely contrary to her heart.
She loved Tyler very much. Even though Tyler is not a romantic man and is very cold, she really can't help but feel the love she feels. When that night she got a proposal from Tyler, her heart was so excited. But she tried to cover it up by being mean and annoying because she didn't want to be seen as the one chasing after Tyler.
But on the other hand, she was often numbered two by Tyler because of the work he had to do. She knew Tyler loved his job. Becoming a police officer and chairing the criminology division has always been Tyler's dream. But couldn't that man just prioritize herself?
“Don't mess around, Amber. I will not cancel our engagement."
The sound of Tyler's hiss on the other side was enough to let Amber know that Tyler was angry right now.
"You're not ready to get married. You love your job too much. "
Her voice choked and turned very quiet. No more screaming or shrill voices like a few minutes ago. All that was left of Amber now were tears and sobs she tried to hold back from being overheard by Tyler.
"We will not continue this conversation. You're tired, and I'm just as tired as you because of this case. I'll call you later."
After that, there was no more Tyler's voice on the other side. Without waiting for an answer, the man immediately turned off the line and walked away.
Amber felt her heart hurt to find that fact. Tyler prefers to stay away from her rather than face her to solve their problems. She then closed her eyes tightly and leaned against the door to her room which she had locked. For a moment she wanted to calm her muddled thoughts while lamenting the misfortune of loving a man like Tyler.
For a moment she will cry over the pain of her fate again in front of her practice room which fortunately is empty. But then she heard the sound of footsteps approaching, followed by the screeching sound of tires slowly getting closer. Amber quickly wiped her tears and straightened up again like a doctor who has just finished her practice time.
"Sorry."
Amber was surprised to hear a voice so cold behind her. Briefly, she glanced at her watch which had shown five o'clock in the evening. It is very late indeed. The sky outside even started to turn dim. There should be no more doctors practicing at this time except in ER.
"Ya? Can I help you?”
Amber glanced a little in surprise at a little girl who was in a wheelchair with a blank look that was so apprehensive. While behind her, a man in a suit looks so powerful and intimidating at the same time.
"Where is Miss Zoey's room?"
"Harper Zoey?"
The man nodded. Amber frowned in surprise, but she didn't dare to ask. She was too afraid of the intimidating aura that man was emitting.
"Please walk straight down this hallway, the room to the right of the second door."
Without saying thanks, the man immediately walked away while pushing his daughter's wheelchair with such steady and calm steps. Amber frowned inside. She then feels sorry for her best friend who is about to have a strange man with his pathetic daughter.
The door to Harper's practice room suddenly knocked a stiff thrice. What time is it, Harper thought irritably. She thought her work hours were over thirty minutes ago. Now even she is trying to relax her stiff muscles by rereading her favorite novel which she has read more than ten times. "Come in," shouted Harper lazily. She reluctantly closed her book and prepared to meet someone knocking on the door of her room. Maybe it's the hospital staff, thought Harper trying to comfort herself who was already annoyed. The assistant could not possibly allow a patient to come into her office when her work hours had ended. The wooden door slowly opened from the outside. As the gaps between the doors started to open wide, Harper frowned deeply. A wheelchair whose tip had been pushed into her room was seen sticking out with its small legs dangling over it. It was obvious that the wheelchair was not ridden by an adult because the legs Harper saw were so small, they resembled those of a child. I
The red, blue, and white lights glowed in the dark, silent street until they succeeded in forming a beautiful kaleidoscope. In a normal setting, it would be wonderful to look at, but in an atmosphere like this, the kaleidoscope would only be a sign of something bad."Tomorrow the medical team will pick up Alma Emerson's body for an autopsy."Tyler said to the morgue officer who just a few hours ago put Alma's body in the corpse drawer. Even though Alma's body looked terrible for storage, the police were forced to do so because they had to carry out an autopsy procedure to find the perpetrator of Alma's murder. So far, Tyler and his team have not been able to identify anything other than the cause of death, which is thought to be because Alma's body was repeatedly beaten to death, then Alma's body was thrown into a drainage until finally the body was found in a rotting condition.Tyler felt nauseous every time he remembered Alma's rotting body, which had doubled in size from being left
It was a little too early for Harper to start a mentoring program for Heidi. Yesterday, she thought Alex would not take his daughter so quickly to the hospital where she worked, considering that they had not discussed much about the mentoring program that Heidi was going to do.But then this morning she was surprised by the arrival of Alex and his daughter who still looked the same as what she saw yesterday evening. Today Heidi came in a knee-length pink dress with a plain ribbon around her waist. In her hair, Heidi uses a bandana that looks so cute to perfect her appearance. It would be very beautiful and adorable if Heidi acted as cheerful as children in general."You surprised me with this sudden visit, Mr. Enzo.""The sooner the better. I want my daughter to be cured soon.""Oh okay."The awkwardness plagued Harper even more. She, who was writing Heidi's data in her patient book, was nervous. Busy day and bouquets everywhere. Applause and laughter filled every corner of the University of Toronto's large courtyard. Harper's graduation day finally arrived, she was so happy to welcome this day that she barely slept last night. Thinking of the various surprises as well as the happiness that would greet her today, it was like she had many fireworks in her stomach. Since last night her stomach had been churning with all kinds of happiness. Even without parents, she has Uncle Ben and Aunt Martha. She also has friends who always support her all this time. Tyler also came on her graduation day. He asked his commissioner for permission, specifically to come on Harper's special day. Amber also came today. She deliberately exchanged shifts with her friend who was supposed to be assigned to the maternity ward today. Everyone today has sacrificed their time for Harper who is happy on her graduation day. "Congratulations dear, your aunt and I are proud of you."
Putting the cell phone to his ear, Tyler got down from the police car he was driving with Morris, then walked over to the white house in the deserted area of Aginscourt North. “We have come to your office this morning, Mr. Enzo, but you are busy. Your secretary tells me that this morning you are in Montreal on business." "That's right. There's a new project in Montreal I need to check out. Is there anything I can help you with, sir..." “Lautner. My name is Tyler Lautner, from Toronto Police, in the criminology division. Sorry in advance for not introducing myself." "No problem. So Mr. Cop, what's wrong with you calling me." "This is related to the death of your ex-wife." "My ex-wife died?" Tyler heard the man on the other side both a little surprised and a little shocked. His acting was amazing, Tyler thought sarcastically. Even though it is clear that their relationship is not that harmonious. Many sources say that Alexander Enzo and his ex-wife were often in fierce feuds. S
Like vomit of fur thrown by a cat, the two men were immediately thrown from behind the bushes and rolled over the deserted sidewalk. The two of them frantically got up and ran towards the opposite direction from the alley exit which was already filled with lots of cops. It was damn bad for both of them this time because while they were checking at Alma Emerson's house, a group of cops came to take the investigation and made them suddenly panic. "Damn, how could the cops come like ants swarming over sugar. There are so many of them." "You murdered her, Jim!" shouted Bratt. After they were quite far from Alma's house, they decided to stop for a moment while catching their breath and were still panting. Jim looked fiercely at Bratt next to him, he then punched Bratt in the arm as hard as he could. But unfortunately, it's just like a mother's hitting a baby's rump, very soft. “I told you I wasn't! I just took her money." “Didn't you hear what that
He was so satisfied because he succeeded in spreading terror on Harper who was so naive and innocent. She felt as delicious as the last time he remembered. Her tiny body always manages to send a tingle of passion that is so tickling. And every look that she gave him through her brown eyes, was like an invitation for him to come closer. To return to taste her delicious body in intimacy that is both thrilling and also intoxicating. That woman was astonishing. In years without seeing her, she's still as exciting as she used to be. Even now Harper was much more voluptuous with a full body that looked more and more sexy day by day. Jeez! He would go crazy if he couldn't get Harper for himself. His head now felt dizzy with excitement just imagining Harper's face and her body, always dressed in neat doctor's clothes. Now nothing else can stand in his way. No wife. No marital status. Only himself with his disabled daughter. Oh God, he wanted to be grateful for Heidi's condition in addition
Love is really strange. I love a man I can't reach. My ex-boyfriend was a man who held my heart too tightly. I'm happy when I'm with him. He was the first man who made me feel love and made me this crazy. Even though many years have passed, I still can't forget the madness of his love. He may not be a romantic man, but he always has a way of making me a queen. I thought at first it was a ploy to ensnare me. He is famous as a lady killer. Besides loving him, I sometimes also doubt his feelings. Is it possible that a lady killer would love a woman like me? “Yes, I love you, Harper!” shouted Alex enthusiastically. Harper poked her head through the bathroom door. She snorted when she saw her husband laughing out loud while holding her diary. She was stupid because she kept the diary in a drawer. Alex accidentally found it when he was looking for nail
The event was very lively. Decorated with beautiful flowers that were handpicked by the bride, the party was truly a dream party for the bride who had long dreamed of a fairy tale wedding party filled with beautiful flowers. At the altar, a man wore a black tuxedo, a snug bow tie around his neck, and shiny new shoes on his feet, the man waits for the bride with a feeling of extreme nervousness that is so annoying. His heart hadn't stopped rumbling for hours and hours, and his face was so stiff. It actually made the guests giggling and amused at him. Today everyone's gaze implies happiness for the most phenomenal couple of this century. A couple who have gone through many hardships together and have gone through many joys filled with laughter. Tyler waited nervously for his bride at the altar, wringing his cold hands over and over again. Even though he was a fierce police officer at the office, his ferocity was not at all visible when he stood at the altar. He even looked nervous to
He glanced at his phone screen and then looked at the snow in his small yard in the remote village of Newbury. Since yesterday he had known that his leisure time was over. Today he will soon end all this ridiculous charade to face a world that has never been on his side. "I've been waiting for your coming." Tom didn't turn around at all. His eyes were still glued to the white snow that was slowly starting to be illuminated by the sunlight. He wasn't in Hawaii at all. He's still in Canada. In a very remote village in Newbury. "The police will be here soon.” "Yes I know. Congratulations on tracking me down, Mr. Alexander Enzo. I don't think what people say about your prowess is anything but nonsense. Sorry for involving you in my game.” "Damn it! You almost killed a poor old man and you tricked a greedy man." "Trapper Winskie is indeed a greedy old man who deserves punishment." “You pretend to be me and talk to him who is very am
The clock still showed three in the morning, but the atmosphere at the police station was as busy as the activities carried out at nine in the morning. The officers who had just arrived from the field brought various kinds of evidence that could be used to build the case. They took several bags containing evidence from Chase's house. The items were arranged on a special table in the interrogation room. The 9mm caliber pistol that Harper once held was also among the items confiscated by police to investigate the case involving Alex and Chase.A police officer with sleepy eyes kept yawning repeatedly as he placed the evidence on the table. A USB and a small pen that looked unremarkable were placed there carefully after Zack came to hand it all over to them."Don't let anything be missed."Tyler patted the sleepy cop on the shoulder. He grumbled near Tyler because he had just been woken up when he was sound asleep in his house.“I even just slept two hours ago.”"Don't complain too much,
He had just turned off his bedroom light and was about to walk towards his bed when a strange sound crackled near his ear followed by the cold sensation he got on his temples from an object he knew very well what it was. He frantically tried to run to the light switch to illuminate his dark room so he could at least see the face of the intruder who had presumptuously disturbed his composure. But his footsteps had been blocked by that person so he immediately fell on the cold floor while enduring pain in the knee that landed first on the floor. "Who are you? What were you doing sneaking into my house?” "What do you think I'll do, Chase?" "Alex?" Chase winced in the darkness as he rubbed his bruised knee repeatedly. Knowing that Alex had come to his house, the feeling of anxiety gradually lessened a bit. But he simply couldn't ignore the fact that a few seconds ago Alex had been pointing him with a gun. “What are you doing in my house? The police are looking for you out there." “F
Across the dark hospital garden, they continued to run without stopping and trying to keep their balance in the snow which now seemed to be difficult for them. Several times Harper nearly tripped if Alex didn't hold her hand tightly, then they both jumped over the half-foot-tall bushes in the garden behind the hospital that separated it from the sidewalk that connected the street to another block."Are they still after us?"Harper panted repeatedly. Her lungs felt like they were going to explode, her legs would probably protest if they had a mouth to speak because her legs were sore right now after being used to running from the fifth floor of the hospital building."I don’t think so. Come on. Can you still walk?”Harper nodded weakly and started limping next to Alex. They had to pick up their car which was parked in a bar three blocks from where they were currently walking. When Alex stopped the car there, she was surprised at him because they left the car in a place that was quite o
For a long time, he stood there doing nothing. Maybe five minutes. Or more. He didn't know exactly when he had left the deserted hospital hallway to enter Brielle's noisy treatment room. The sound of the cardiograph showing the steady rhythm of Brielle's heartbeat relieved him a bit. Only a bit. The rest he was more worried when he saw Brielle's plump body which usually always radiated a healthy brown hue, now turned pale and wrinkled. Brielle's skin looked unwell under the needles that poked her here and there. “Brielle...” Alex muttered under his breath with broken feelings. He had never seen Brielle this frail. His Brielle who always laughs loudly, his Brielle who loves to cook delicious food for him, his Brielle who is always there for him. As he touched Brielle's hand which was drooping weakly at her side, it felt cold. Alex gripped her hand tightly, feeling the roughness of it because it was always used to work in the kitchen. He wanted to see Brielle in his kitchen again, no
He was enjoying classical music and a cup of fragrant hot coffee when his doorbell was rung roughly several times. Frowning his brows in annoyance, the man quickly tightened his sleeping robes and walked a little hastily to the front door to yell at anyone who had disturbed his quiet time. He thought the person who rang the bell at his house had gone completely insane. It's even a few minutes past ten. It's time for everyone to rest well. But the people out there seem to be crazies who don't know the code of ethics. "What the—" His words stopped in midair when he saw who the intruder had been playing with his doorbell. "Looks like I'm interrupting your bed time." "Very. You're not the person I expected to come tonight." “What kind of lawyer can stay relaxed when his client is being wanted by the police for running away.” Tyler said skeptically. He looked at Zack's body from head to toe which clearly showed that the man was ready to sleep. "It's a tough day. I didn't want to burde
Coming out of Harper's quiet residence, Chase didn't drive home right away. Instead of taking the route to his house, Chase turned the wheel toward Alex's office. There was something he had to do tonight to make his life calm again. Today he failed to pick up what he should have taken from Alex's office. For three hours he was stuck with people with thick glasses in the audit room on the fifth floor. Many times he made excuses to get up to Alex's room on the tenth floor, but time and time again he failed. Jordan Brasco, the smart-ass attorney keeps blocking him from going up to Alex's room by giving him a series of tasks that he shouldn't have to do. “Oh come on, why do they keep tinkering with Alex's wealth if the ten million dollars that Winksie sent to Alex's account have been withdrawn? They won't find anything at all until they ask Alex about it,” Chase monologued with himself. He was very upset about everything that happened to him today. But the problem is, Alex has disappear
