Kiara's POV

I couldn't believe my eyes. Damon was standing there, right in front of me. I didn't even have to say a word, and there he was—no warning, no call...I had never told him where I was going. So, how the hell did he find me?

My heart pounded in my chest. I felt a rush of confusion, fear, and something I wasn't ready to face. How could he be here? How did he even know where to look for me?

Then, I saw Nicholas smirk. He wasn't even bothered. “Looks like someone has a tracker on his… woman,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

I wasn't sure whether I wanted to scream or just walk out of the room. Instead, I just stood there, frozen. What the hell was happening?

Damon didn't waste any time. He walked up to me, smiling without saying another word, he pulled me into his arms. I was still in shock, but a small part of me felt safer with him holding me. But then his voice cut through the silence.

“I came just in time. I won't let anyone touch my woman. Especially not you, Nic

Damon's POV20 Years AgoI was only five years old, but the sound of my mother's sobs still haunts me. I sat on the cold, wooden floor of our small house, watching her pack her clothes into a tattered suitcase. Her hands shook as she tried to close the latch, tears streaming down her bruised face.“Mom,” I cried, crawling closer to her. “Don't leave me. Please, don't leave me.” She knelt in front of me, her trembling hands cupping my face. Her eyes were red, swollen, and filled with pain I couldn't understand at the time.“I love you, Damon,” she whispered. “But I can't stay here anymore.”“Then take me with you!” I begged, grabbing onto her dress. Before she could answer, the door slammed open, and my father stormed in. His face was twisted in anger, his fists clenched. “You think you can leave me?” he roared. “Stop it, Fred!” My mom screamed, standing in front of me as if she could shield me from his rage. But my father didn't stop. His fist collided with her face, and she fel

Kiara's POV Lately, I have been suspecting my husband. Whenever I confronted him about my suspicions, he'd kiss me on the lips and tell me not to worry—it's just business deals. He'll never lie to me, right? He loves me. And I love him too. I have been married to Nicholas Chavez, a top billionaire in Florida, for three years now. We don't have kids yet, but I've been seeing signs of pregnancy. He's not bothered about having kids, but his mother is. So, I plan on going to see the doctor tomorrow. It's his birthday and I want to spend time with him as he promised. I was covered in flour, focused on making his favorite cake for his birthday when he walked into the kitchen. I didn't hear him at first, too wrapped up in wanting everything to be perfect. It had been a while since we'd spent a real evening together. He is always going on business trips and barely even has time for me, his wife. Today, which was his birthday, he promised me he wouldn't go to work, yet I woke up

Kiara's pov My eyes flashed open to the blurred sight of a middle-aged man leaning close to me. Panic shot through me as I tried to remember where I was, or even who he was. My fingers tightened around the sheets as my head throbbed. “Doctor, she's awake!” He called, his voice echoing around the room. My head pounded as I slowly recalled what happened. Divorce. Nicholas. A car. “Where am I?” I managed to speak as I looked at the man who sat beside me. He looked rich. “You're in safe hands now, Miss Kiara Abernathy.” The man spoke, a small smile leaving his lips. How did he know my name? What in the world was going on? How did I end up in a hospital? He only nodded toward the doctor, who stepped forward to examine me briefly. “She’s stable, but she needs rest,” she said, giving him a meaningful look before leaving us alone. “Thank you doctor,” “I'm sorry it took us so long to find you, ma'am. Your father is sick, and he wants to see you.” He said, his back slumping. I had

Kiara's pov I took a shaky breath as I looked at the frail man before me. This was the father I had imagined a hundred different ways, but never like this. My heart was pounding, and my hands wouldn't stop trembling. This was my father, the man I had built up in my mind for years after my mom's tragic accident which led to her demise. “Kiara…” His voice was barely a whisper, as if even saying my name took the last of his strength. Collen exited the room, leaving us alone as I sat beside my dad. I forced myself to move closer, to reach for his hand. It felt fragile, cold, and I could see the effort in his eyes as he looked at me. There was so much I wanted to ask, so much anger and confusion swirling in me, but all of that felt irrelevant now. “Why… didn't you… come for me?” My voice cracked, barely holding back the resentment I had held in for years. A soft sigh escaped him. “I…tried, Kiara. I searched everywhere. But they…took you from me.” His voice broke, and it hurt to

Kiara's pov I woke slowly, my eyes adjusting to the hospital room. Damon was right there, beside me, holding my hands. “Damon… what…happened?” My voice was barely a whisper, but I had to know. He looked down, pain clouding his face. “Kiara…the baby,” he said quietly. “I'm so sorry. You lost the baby.” “I lost it?” I asked in a shaky voice. “Yes. I… I didn't know you were married.” He said cautiously, a hint of jealousy in his eyes. “I was.” I replied without meeting his eyes, memories of Nicholas flooding my mind. ‘You lost the baby'. These words hit me like ice, freezing every part of me. My baby was gone. A tear slipped down my cheek, then another, until I was silently sobbing. The hurt was too deep to put into words. Losing this baby made me realize I had totally cut ties with Nicholas. But I felt the agony of a mother losing a child. Even if the dad was a scum. Mandy. She had looked me in the eye yesterday, handed me a drink with that innocent smile, and p

THREE YEARS LATER Nicholas' povI stared at the dress hanging in my closet, the only reminder I had left of her. I had wanted to throw it out with her other things, but something stopped me. Now, whenever I looked at it, a mix of regret and anger filled my chest. I had thrown away something priceless, something I never deserved. I had everything I could ever want, fleets of cars, estates, wealth beyond measure. And yet, none of it filled the emptiness she left behind. How could I have been so cruel? How could I have divorced her for Sarah?Kiara was pure, like an angel. She was always there for me, despite how coldly I treated her. I didn't deserve her forgiveness, but I'd do anything to hold her again. “I miss you every day, Kiara,” I whispered, pulling her dress close, hoping to catch a faint trace of her scent. It was almost gone, but I could still imagine it calming me. Her hazel eyes used to meet mine with warmth and understanding. Her hair, always tied back, spilled down he

Nicholas' POVIt was almost too good to believe. As we drove towards a house in Charleston, my stomach was churning. My fingers drummed against my knee, and my jaw tightened.Could this finally be it? Could I really be close to finding her?“Luca, you know… it's better we don't go than going there and not seeing my wife.” I shrugged, my hands tightening into fists. “I'm sure, sir.” Luca nodded through the rearview mirror. “I saw her face clearly. I wouldn't drag you out here if I wasn't certain.”My chest tightened. Was it really her? After all this time? I couldn't even imagine what I'd say if she opened the door. Would she slam it in my face? What if she'd moved on… what if some other man was in there with her? I couldn't even let myself think about that. “Kiara,” I murmured under my breath, rubbing my temples. “Please. Just one more chance…”Luca parked in front of a large, stylish house. Kiara's PovI stared at my reflection in the mirror, forcing a smile. It was my birthday, but it didn't feel like it. I had picked a simple dress, nothing special, and put on a bit of makeup. I picked up my phone again, staring at the screen. No messages. Nothing from Damon. Had he forgotten about me?It had been weeks since he left for Singapore to take care of business as usual. He promised he'd call me when he landed, but he hadn't. Not even a single text. I shook my head, trying to push the thoughts away. I shouldn't care. I had my work to focus on. I had been so busy these past weeks that I didn't even have time to feel sorry for myself. My position as the CEO of my dad's empire wasn't much of an easy task, but over the past three years, Damon has been my support. I couldn't rely on anyone, not even my step-siblings. They were always trying to get on my nerves. Today was different. I couldn't help it. My heart ached a little. Every birthday reminded me of Nicholas, and the

Kiara's POVRose had been usually persistent about me joining her for a meeting with a potential business partner at the Dorchester Hotel. I wasn't interested at first, but she kept insisting the client needed reassurance from someone in a senior position. Reluctantly, I agreed, thinking it was just another regular business deal. I wondered why the person couldn't just come to my office instead of demanding a private meeting, but I trusted Rose. She has never lied to me. As our car cruised through the busy London streets, I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling in my chest. Something about this meeting felt…strange. I adjusted my blazer and tried to focus on Rose's chatter, but my mind kept wandering back to Damon. He is dependable, and supportive, and made me feel safe—a stability I desperately needed after everything that happened with Nicholas. When we arrived at the Dorche

I wanted to see her again, to tell her how sorry I was, and convince her to trust me just once again.“Prepare a flight to London, Luca,” I said to him before entering my office. He nodded and I shut the door behind me. Damn it! I slammed my foot against the wall, breathing hard. Then I heard a knock on my door. “Leave my door, I have no meetings today,” I spoke without knowing who was there.“It's Hollis.” A soft voice came off. Hollis? What was she doing here? I panicked, looking at Nicholas's pitiful eyes as the swamp's icy grip clutched at his chest, dragging him down while Damon's desperate voice echoed like a haunting wind. The air reeked of damp earth and decay, suffocating my breath as I struggled to move. Kiara's POV Back at the office, I tried to focus on the pile of work waiting for me after taking a day off. Rose, my assistant, had a stack of files on my desk, which I needed to review urgently. “Thank you, Rose,” I said, glancing at the files. “You're welcome, ma'am. How was your trip to the States?” she asked with a warm smile. “Interesting, Rose. It went well.” I replied, smiling briefly before turning to my laptop. “Okay, ma'am. I'll take my leave now,” she said, nodding slightly before walking out. Moments later, a knock sounded on the door. “Come in,” I called out. The door creaked open, and Damon stepped in, his presence filling the room. A smile played on his lips as he walked toward me, leaning down to place a quick kiss on my cheek. “Missing me already?” he teased. My Kiara…in someone else's arms. Damon glared at me, his eyes full of anger. “Don't you dare come close to her again!” I stood there, frozen as I looked at them. My fists clenched at my sides, the sting of rejection cutting through me. My mind had screamed at me to stop her, but I couldn't move. Kiara shook her head. “No…I'm fine.” She didn't tell Damon exactly what happened. She didn't look at me. Not even a glance. And then they walked away together. Damon hesitated, giving me a look before stepping back, just far enough to give us space but still close enough to step in if needed. Nicholas didn't wait. He closed the distance between us, towering over me. The same Nicholas who used to shout at me, who made me cry, now stood here, shuddering in front of me. I stole a glance at the few people passing by us and I said, “Yes, Mr. Chavez?” My voice was cold. Very cold. I remembered everything in a flash.
