Chapter 3

CHAPTER THREE

ISABELLA’s POV

My body sank, and that feeling of falling into a pit made me open my eyes abruptly. My heart was beating rapidly and I felt alive, like someone was holding tight to me.

Camera-clicking sounds echoed in my ears constantly, which made my brows knit tightly. Different questions seemed to be flying in the air, there was only one question that seemed to enter my ear.

I looked around at the familiar place, it was the conference room. My eyes were almost blinded by the different snap lights targeted at me. Everything seemed to be live and direct.

I felt sore all over my body. Suddenly, I became sober in an instant as they began to roll in their questions. Their questions were weird, but I couldn’t answer any of them.

“Who would be elected for the position of director in the upcoming board meeting for Starlight Entertainment?”. I was confused now, what kind of meeting was this going on in heaven?

Just then Tyler walked in, beaming with smiles. I was more confused now, seeing his face. I was already dead, but Tyler wasn't. So how come Tyler was seeing me and even walking towards me?

Mason was beside me, holding me, and I realized I almost fell but that wasn’t the point right now. I just needed someone to explain to me what had just happened.

Even if it were to be a dream at that moment, I was overwhelmed to see Mason right beside me.

As if someone was reading my mind, a text appeared in front of the desk, the press conference document that was prepared for me to say changed into another text entirely.

“You have been reborn back into the past; you have a choice to remake your decisions and change your destiny, or you fail, and the incident of the future remains the same outcome.”

My eyes widened in horror as it cleared up, it was like I was seeing something else. I checked the date and realized I was back 5 years ago, just a few months before my marriage with Tyler.

It was around the period that Nicolette and I were both into heated arguments but I was planning to make it up to her the following month by promoting her to the new director of the company.

I closed my eyes as a feeling of anger and pain surged through me. Seeing Tyler in front of me again made me feel worse.

I cleared my throat, adjusting the microphone in front of me, “I’m unsure of who to announce as the new director of Starlight Entertainment, but I’m ensuring everyone chooses the best out of our employees.” I smiled at them, closed the conference, and immediately rushed out without thinking straight.

I was lost in thought with confusion as I ran out of the company, but the paparazzi kept on rushing after me till they eventually caught up with me, circling me in between. I was surrounded by them.

*Miss, Why did you suddenly have a change of mind about who to choose as the new director of Starlight Entertainment?*

*Is there anything happening that the public isn't aware of?*

*Miss, do you have anything to say about the issues?*

*Everyone thought your husband would be the next director but you suddenly had a change of mind in the dying minutes. Do you have anything to say about that?*

*Even some thought you might choose your stepsister!*

*After all, she's not her blood sister! Blood is thicker than water!” I heard a reporter say and I almost strangled her for a moment.

I have never been that confused in my life. Different questions were thrown at me but I couldn't even answer a single question. I could only stare at them while fidgeting with the hem of my dress when I heard a thick muscular voice beside me.

I was hearing the cold yet muscular voice beside me. The voice seemed to have brought back my senses at that moment, and I was able to think straight, even if it was just for a moment.

“She won't be answering any question for now,” The man said firmly; his voice was calm yet commanding, and almost immediately, the paparazzi stopped throwing questions at me.

“What a lifesaver!” I thought as I sighed in relief, but almost immediately, the man beckoned his hand towards me without even giving me enough space to calm my nerves.

Yes, the stranger in my presence was beckoning his hand towards me. Even though he was a stranger, his face was appealing and manly enough that I wouldn't have to think twice before following him, but still, he was a stranger despite his enchanting look.

“Let's go, I'll take you away from here,” The man said while I only stared at his lips. The way it was moving to and fro.

Even before I could react, My hand seemed faster than my shadow, and I immediately gave him my hand, and just like he said, he took me away from the crowd.

MINUTES LATER, INSIDE THE CAR.

I lowered my head and realized I was in a very ambiguous position, I was literally in the stranger's arms with my transparent blouse.

However, in the means of my unwanted movement, I heard the man's breath beneath my neck.

Yes, it sent chills down my body. Especially the down part.

“Damn! I'm going crazy over this stranger!”

I instinctively covered myself up, but looking through the rearview mirror; I realized the man wasn't even looking at me; rather, he had his gaze fixed on his cell phone, and I was the one clutching tightly onto him.

“I must have held onto him because I was scared,” I thought to myself feeling embarrassed. “Yes, it was a mere protection, nothing important to think of,” I muttered again, I believe anyone could have done the same in a situation like that.

By now, My face was reddened like a tomato, My cheeks flustered in embarrassment as I struggled hard to move away from him and sat up straight while looking outside through the car window.

The moment I moved away from him, a fresh-smelling cost fell on my shoulder.

“Put it on.” The man said, his voice was so full of magnetism that I almost couldn't react to his words. My gaze had already fallen on his handsome and noble profile. He looked calm and composed.

For him to save a stranger he knows nothing about, I could only think he's someone reserved and courteous, dignified and gentle, a true definition of a gentleman.

But that thought didn't last long as my heart stirred slightly. I never expected Tyler, who seemed like a perfect, calm, kind figure, to be a total leech talk more of a stranger I had just met.

I quickly waved aside the thought about the man seated beside me and wrapped the cost around my shoulder.

“You can drop me off at the next intersection ahead,” I said, trying to get out of the car as fast as possible. Even though his appearance seemed kind, I still can't help thinking otherwise.

But the man didn't speak; I looked at his expression through the rearview mirror; his eyebrows were calm as he looked out of the window without bothering to give me a response.

That alone sent shivers down my spine “Will I be dying the second time?” I thought, but I never knew I said that out, which got the man to give me a stare.

Yes, an awkward one!
