**Third person**
One year later, A tall, beautiful woman stood in front of Harrison Enterprises, a familiar feeling washing over her as she took in the towering building. Not much had changed since the last time she was here. Just then, her phone buzzed, and she fumbled her bag for the device. A warm feeling spread through her as her eyes caught the caller's ID. "Hey," Matthew's voice rang through the receiver. "I'm just standing in front of the company. I'm feeling nervous, hurt, and excited all at once," Ashley confessed. She could be vulnerable around him. Matthew was more than a friend to her; he was her savior. "I understand, Ash. It's normal to feel that way, especially after so much time," he soothed. Because of the injury on her face from that night, Ash had undergone plastic surgery that completely transformed her facial appearance. And workouts had sculpted her figure into enviable perfection, the fitted red dress on her hugging her curves flawlessly. She looked like an entirely different person. Yeah, Matt was right, she thought as she rubbed her sweaty palm against her dress. "Yeah, I know," she murmured to her phone. "Just remember, no matter what happens today, even if things don't go as planned, I'll be here for you," Matthew reassured her. “Thank you, Matt.” And then she slipped her phone back into her bag. Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the company that was once hers. Before her sister and husba-, sorry ex-husband tried to kill her that night. She looked around the lobby; everything seemed pretty much the same except that there was a new receptionist behind the desk. “How can I help you, ma'am?” The receptionist asked Ashley. Just as she was about to answer, she heard a familiar voice call out, "Hey, beautiful.” And then she felt a grip on her arm almost immediately. “Are you here for the interview?” She could never forget the voice of the man who tried to kill her. Turning to face him, she felt her stomach clench, and she suddenly felt the urge to knee him in the balls. Ashley understood that she couldn't cause a scene now, he might have her thrown out or killed before she even gets the chance to see her parents arrive. She clenched her jaw, blinked rapidly, and plastered a smile on her face to prevent her tears from spilling. This was the man she'd always loved. The man who had left her for dead a year ago. The man who killed her unborn child. And for that, she'll never forgive him. He'd moved on so quickly and gotten married to her sister, after he thought that she was dead. How was it possible to love and hate one person this much? It'll be very satisfying to tell her parents the truth in front of Adam and watch him struggle to defend himself. She let out a small chuckle when she imagined Adam being humiliated, kicked out of the company, and sent to prison. “You have a really nice dentition,” Adam commented, snapping Ashley out of her thoughts. She pressed her lips together before murmuring, “Thank you.” His eyes raked her body briefly, and then they landed on her full breasts, which had a bit of cleavage exposed due to the V-cut neckline. Adam bit his lips and then swallowed. “You'll make an excellent secretary for me.” What a dog! She'd been married to a man like this for three years? Ashley scoffed lightly. “Secretary?” she whispered, her voice inaudible. Just then, the doors slid open, revealing a couple. The man wore a black suit; his brows were slightly furrowed, while the woman was clad in a lemon green dress; her nose wrinkled. It seemed they'd just had a fight. Those were Ashley's parents. “I have to run along pretty, I'll see you during the interview,” Adam said before dashing off. Ashley watched him rush to her parents. “Mr. and Mrs. Harrison,” he addressed them, his head slightly bowed. "Please, let's talk in my office,” Adam suggested as he led the way. “Ma'am, the interview is on the second floor.” The receptionist's voice brought her attention back to the desk. After listening to Ashley's conversation with the boss, she assumed that Ashley was here for the interview. “Sure, thank you.” Ashley headed to the elevator, she couldn't wait to see the look on that scum's face when she revealed her identity. Reaching the second floor, she noticed a bunch of nervous graduates waiting their turn to be interviewed. “Maybe I'll take over interviewing the candidates after seeing my parents,” Ash thought as she kept walking. Now, standing before the familiar office door, a wave of bitter nostalgia washed over her. This used to be her office. With another deep breath, she pushed the door open and stepped in. Chin held high; this was the moment she'd get rid of this scumbag. The outer section of the office was empty. And as she delved deeper, she was about to push open the door to the inner office when she heard her father's voice. “You've still not been able to find the location of Ashley's secret fund?” Her sweet daddy... They didn't have to worry about that again; she was back now. Grabbing the door knob, she heard a woman's voice this time. It was her mother's. “Ugh, that stupid girl is still giving us a tough time even after she's dead.” Her voice bubbled with frustration. “Maybe you should have asked her about the secret fund before throwing her into the water.” Huh? Ashley felt her cold dread course through her whole body. “My wife is right. Getting the secret fund was the major reason that we agreed to kill her,” Peter Harrison, Ashley's sweet father, seconded. She watched Adam from the narrow space in the slightly ajar door as he walked over to her parents. “Ah, mom, dad. I'm sorry, I…” The rest of their conversation was blurred in Ashley's mind. Her grip on the door knob tightened as tears spilled over. What was that? Her parents? They were involved in her death too? Ashley's chest threatened to explode, the pain she felt was indescribable. Why was this happening to her? She bit down on her bottom lip and took a step backwards, trying to suppress her crying. How… How is this even possible? She definitely heard right. How messed up was this? Maybe she had killed a child in her past life, and this was her punishment for it. It took everything in her to not wail loudly… What was she going to do now? Trying to gather herself, Ashley wiped her wet cheeks and decided to leave silently. She would restrategize and make all of them pay. Just after taking a few steps towards the door, she bumped her leg against a chair, causing a sharp clang that echoed through the room. Instantly, the conversation in the inner room stopped; the sound was too loud for them to have missed. Adam scurried to the outer office, her parents following behind. Soon, three pairs of eyes were staring at her.**Third person**Her mother was the first to speak up.“What are you doing here?” Her sharp tone and icy look sent shivers down Ashley's spine.Even though she looked like a different person, she still felt so small and so scared in front of them. What if they attempt to kill her again now, and they actually succeed?Breathe, Ash. They don't even know that you're the one. “Sorry, I lost my way. I was looking for the restroom,” answered Ashley, trying to keep her voice steady.“And who are you?” Her mother's eyes narrowed, and her gaze turned even icier.Just then, Adam stepped in. “Uh, Mrs. Harrison, she's my new secretary.”“Is that so?” Kate Harrison asked, her gaze turning to Adam.“Yes, ma'am.”Kate's eyes shifted back to Ash, and she stared at her for a few seconds before she continued, “What's your name?”“It's, uh, it's…” Ashley stuttered, her mind searching for suitable female names that she could adopt.“You don't remember your name?” Kate snapped, her voice tingling with i
**Third person**Ashley was already out the door, the sound of his protests fading behind her.As she sprinted down the stairs, a hysterical laugh bubbled up from her chest, the awkwardness of the situation finally hitting her. She had just slept with a stranger and told his wife what happened.Phew…What a way to start her day!She hoped she'd never see him again.***************************************Ashley sat in Matthew's spacious living room, her fingers tapping nervously on the plush leather armrest.Matthew, noticing Ashley's nervousness as he poured tea into a cup, reached for her hand and squeezed it gently. "I understand your pain. But don't you think you'll be in danger if you go back?”Tears welled up in her eyes yet again, spilling over and tracing a path down her cheeks.“What do you suggest then, Matt?” She shouted. “That I just let them be? That I just… just…” her voice broke.“They put me through hell!” Ashley's chest heaved in pain, her croaked and hoarse voice mi
**Valerie**Today I was wearing a low-cut U-neckline dress, and he kept looking at me like I was some meal.I shifted uncomfortably in my chair. “No,” I replied, a bit nervous. His shameless staring made me despise myself even more. How did I fall for a guy like this?Adam seemed to have noticed the awkwardness. “You don't have to be shy around me. You're my new secretary.”“I thought you already have a secre…” I tried to remind him, but he cut me off. “Nonsense!” He immediately rose to his feet. “Follow me.”He headed outside his office to the secretary's office, and I followed him closely behind. “Pack your things and go to the finance department. That's where you'll be working for now,” he ordered the woman, who was seated at the secretary's desk. She seemed to be in her late forties."But, sir, it was…” She started. “Amelia, I don't want to hear anything,” he interrupted with a harsh tone. “Just pack your things and leave.”Amelia glared at me, her jaw clenching visibly, bef
**Third person**When his eyes met Valerie's, Lucas cocked an eyebrow in a questioning or, more like, disdainful way.Valerie's pretense of calm seemed to crumble under Lucas's piercing stare. He then took a seat without acknowledging her greeting and began scrolling through his phone, leaving the room pregnant with an awkward silence. After what felt like an hour of silence, Valerie released a breath she didn't know she was holding. “I'll go get you some coffee,” she suggested before disappearing into Adam's office. She returned almost immediately with a cup of coffee in hand.“Here,” she murmured, and extended the cup to Lucas, careful not to let their fingers touch."Miss Thorne..." Lucas took the cup, raised it to his lips, and sipped slowly. His expression remained unreadable.Valerie nibbled on her fingers nervously. "Is there anything else you need, sir?” Placing the cup on the table, he leaned back in his chair. “I really wasn't expecting to see you here.” His dark and cold
**Third person**Lucas turned to glare at him, shrugged, and continued walking.Valerie stood with her head poking out of the restroom, watching Lucas and the dirty looks he got as he strolled by. Her colleague’s obvious infatuation with him made her cringe. How could anyone be so captivated by someone they barely knew?Just then, Lucas ran his thick fingers through his jet-black hair. His side profile was striking, with a chiseled jaw and pointed nose. She swallowed hard. It seemed like he was deliberately drawing attention to himself. If only they knew how condescending and arrogant he truly was.“You sure look at him like you want to fuck him.”Valerie flinched and spun around, startled by the voice. She clutched her chest and released her breath when she saw the face. “Why did you do that? You scared me.”“I’m Tessa. I work in that office,” she said, pointing to the project design department.“Hi, Tessa. I’m Valerie.” She shook Tessa’s outstretched hand and moved toward the water
**Third person**In Stone Enterprises, Lucas had just walked in when he was told that his mother was waiting for him in the cafeteria.Stepping into the elevator, he pressed the button for the last floor. Whenever Mrs. Stone came by, they always sat in that cafeteria.“Lucas, darling!”Mrs. Stone was already on her feet, her face lighting with excitement as soon as Lucas walked in. "I was so bored at home, I simply had to come see you." They exchanged a quick, affectionate hug, her eyes scanning him for any signs of distress.Lucas managed a smile. “Mom, you didn’t have to come all the way. We could have just talked over the phone.”She waved a dismissive hand. "I wanted to. Besides, I’ve brought you lunch." She gestured to the oversized bag she was carrying. And even though the place was usually almost empty since most of the employees ate in the other cafeterias, they stayed in a corner. Their table was surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, streaming sunlight onto the crisp whi
**Third person**Valerie's feet trembled as she made her way back to her chair.Amelia eyed her suspiciously and then scoffed in disbelief. “Don't you think you're being too dramatic for just a slap?” But Val remained silent, the content of the text message still echoing in her head. *You don't get to have a second chance with a new face and identity and then act this impulsively. Next time, think through your actions before you execute.*Her eyes darted around the office, searching for anyone watching her.Someone in the office right now knows who she is. The person had been observing everything. They'd seen her stand up and head toward Adam's office. But how could they have known her intentions? Maybe they'd guessed, pondering why she'd wanted to interrupt Adam's conversation with his wife just after the slap. The thoughts of this mystery person sent shivers down her spine.Whoever it was must have watched her so closely to be able to predict her actions.Valerie's anxious gaze
**Third person**Matt traced her line of sight and saw the man walking to their table. Then his eyes flickered back to Val. “Do you know him?” She opened her mouth to say something, but the words refused to come out. Lucas kept advancing towards them. And just when she thought he was going to stop at their table, he passed by and headed to the table behind Matt. Valerie let out a small, amused snort. "I guess not," she replied.“Oh,” he murmured, his eyes darting between Lucas, who had just settled on a chair, and Valerie, who was sitting opposite him. He'd clearly noticed something was amiss, but he decided not to push it. "So, about this new friend of yours..." he began, attempting to ease the awkward atmosphere. "Friend is a strong word," she corrected. “I barely know her.”And after the painful betrayal of those she loved the most, she wasn't in a hurry to make new friends."So, what's she like?” Matt asked curiously.“She's bubbly… Talks a lot.”Valerie could feel Lucas's
