**Valerie**

“Wait…” He paused, processing my words. Then a proud laugh ripped from his throat. “That was intentional?”

I smiled but didn't say a word. I just allowed him to take his time and catch his breath until he spoke up again.

“But doesn't that mean you'll lose Adam as an ally?” He asked with a thoughtful expression.

I shrugged. “I don't have use for him anymore,” I replied sincerely.

“Fucking bastard is getting what he deserves,” Matt seconded with a nod. There was a brief pause on the other end before he spoke again. “There's something I want to tell you about that Gary Miller. How does the weekend sound? It's not urgent.”

“Yeah, there's that guy,” I sighed out. “Weekend's fine for me, Matt.”

“Okay, good, I'll see you then.”

“Yeah, bye.”

The line went dead, and I placed my phone away, my mind shifting to the bug in Adam's bedroom and what new recordings it must have acquired.

After the bloodbath yesterday, Karen must have had some things to say. Actually, not ‘some’... She mus

**Valerie**I was sitting across from Tessa at work, my mind wandering and a thousand thoughts trooping in.So they're not my parents? Explains everything.Or did Karen just say I'm not her sister to make her seem less bad?But if they're not my parents, then who are they? Are my real parents still alive? Where are they?“Val?” Tessa's voice snapped me out of my daze.I blinked rapidly to suppress the tears welling in my eyes before I looked up at her. “Uhm, yeah?”She studied my face for a moment. “You good?”I nodded. “Yeah, sure." I tried to make my voice seem cheerful. "What's up?”She side-eyed me, her face screaming, ‘I know you're not fine, but it's okay if you don't want to tell me what's wrong.’ Then she pushed a document over to me.My face lit up, my eyes shifting from the document that was now in my hand to her face. “Is this what I think it is?”"Who knows?” She smiled, a mischievous glint in her eye. “Check it out."My hands got to work immediately, opening the envelope

**Valerie**“Karen?” I echoed, my heart racing, and he nodded.“Just be quiet,” he whispered and gave me a reassuring look before stepping out. After he left, I moved to the door and pressed myself against it, my ears straining to eavesdrop on their conversation.“Hey babe, what do you say about lunch?” I heard him say to Karen.“Lunch?” Came her response.I imagine her face was twisted into a scowl because he continued, “I don't know why you think that about me. I'm sorry, okay? I'm not behind those pranks.”A pause. Then, “Why are you acting so strangely right now?" Karen's voice asked. "You didn't give a shit that I thought you were responsible for the pranks. So why are you apologizing all of a sudden?”“That's not it,” he chuckled, but I could hear the tremble in it. “I thought your meeting ended a while ago. What are you still doing here?” I heard the clinking of heels get closer and closer to the door. Then it stopped.“Let's talk things over. Let's go for lunch, okay?” I ima

**Lucas**“Valerie!” I shouted as I watched the taxi drive away with her.“Fuck!!” I yelled. I ran a palm across my face, my heart pounding as I pulled at my hair. Why do I keep fucking things up? Just why??!I groaned and then jogged back to the garage, deciding to drive to her house. “I hope she's headed home,” I muttered frustratedly. How was I supposed to explain things to her when I clearly know how this looks? But how do I convince her? I'm quite sure that nothing happened. Even though I was drunk, at least I'd remember bits and pieces of the sex afterwards—that's if it did happen—but there was nothing at all. Nothing.Just as I approached my car, Angela blocked my path. “What are you doing?” she asked.I shrugged, moved away from her and took another route, but she was quick to block my way again. “Why are you going after her when I'm here?”“Angela. Move,” I gritted out slowly, my patience wearing thin.“Why? I'm the one who loves you. I can make you happy.” Then her eyes dil

Instead, his eyes returned to me. "Valerie," he said, his voice low and urgent.I sighed out, knowing what he wanted to say. Then I shook my head slightly. "Please, not tonight."Matthew moved closer to me protectively, his body almost touching mine. "You heard the lady," he said to Lucas.Lucas's eyes narrowed, his gaze snapping towards Matt, and his jaw tightened. "I wasn't talking to you," I gritted out.Matthew's voice was calm but firm. "Well, clearly you can't comprehend. That's why I have to intervene. She said she doesn't want to talk to you."Lucas ignored Matthew, his eyes burning with remorse and hurt as he looked at me again. "Please, just give me a chance. Just listen to what I have to say."My heart broke for him; he looked so vulnerable, so remorseful. The old me wou

**Valerie**Murmurs and whispers filled the room.“Quiet,” Adam ordered, and the noise simmered down. "Now, I know some of you might be wondering why we're not inviting everyone. Please know that each and every one of you has contributed to our company's success in your own way. However, due to capacity constraints, we've had to select a smaller group to represent the company.”The whispers and murmurs in the hall resumed again.Adam paused, surveying the room. He raised his voice as he spoke into the microphone in order to overshadow the noise. "If your name is on the list, it's not because others haven't contributed to the company's growth.” The hall was quiet again. “Some events just require a smaller team, and I want to assure you that this decision wasn't taken lightly."A man who was seated in the front row raised his hand, and he was granted permission to speak. He stood up. “Thank you, sir,” he started, before diving into his question. “Please, where's the location for this an

**Third person**Everyone was settling in the yacht. Valerie was the only lucky one amongst the selected employees who had a room to herself. She had just unpacked her things from her box into the wardrobe. A casual pair for later tonight, a dinner gown for tomorrow night, another casual cloth for before dinner, and then the clothes she'll leave with on Sunday. Then Val arranged all her cosmetics and makeup into the cupboard. The yacht was huge, with about six luxurious cabins, a master suite—where she assumed Adam and Karen would be staying—and then a VIP suite. They probably paired the employees two-to-one room, and since they were an odd number, that's how she ended up alone, Valerie thought to herself. The yacht was one of those expenses she had made on herself before marrying Adam. She had decided to splurge some money on herself for working hard, so she didn't spare a dime when purchasing it.Later, when she got married to Adam, he had berated her for it, saying, What kind of wo

**Third person**“I've told you, call me Adam,” he said with a soft voice.Valerie's eyes immediately snapped to the door. She was sure that she'd locked it after Gabriel left, before drifting off to sleep. The cabin with its plush carpet and elegant furnishing seemed to close in on her. “How did you get in here?” She questioned. The daggers her eyes shot at Adam was hard to miss even with the dim lightning in her cabin. Adam smirked before lifting a bunch of keys and jingling them at her. “Spare keys.”She groaned inwardly. Seems she'll have to start bolting the door from inside to prevent scenarios like this, Valerie thought.“Please, leave. I was sleeping before he came in,” she tried her possible best to keep her voice calm and polite. Adam was still her boss after all. She'd ask him first to leave calmly and if he doesn't, then she'll have to take drastic action. But her anger slipped into her tone as she spoke.“Val, don't you think that this is long overdue?” He adjusted on th

**Valerie** The next morning, we all gathered in the cockpit by 9 am. The warm sun cast a golden glow over the yacht's sleek deck. “Hello, so we've decided to organize some fun games,” one of my colleagues announced, his voice booming across the water. “At least to make our stay here worthwhile.” The rest of the employees cheered, their faces lighting up with excitement. “Hey, how's that leg?” Gabriel asked, appearing beside me. He had on his usual friendly smile. “It's all fixed,” I replied with a smile as I stretched a leg forward to show him. “You're going to pair yourselves in groups of twos,” the organizer continued. “Your left leg will be attached to the right leg of your partner or vice versa.” The noise level increased, with murmurs, cheers and laughter filling the air. “Then you and your partner will make a stop at three different places. There'll be a timer, and the team that reaches the finish line within the time limit wins,” he explained further. Gabriel

**Third person** Valerie dragged her heavy eyes open. She blinked a couple of times to clear her vision. The smell of drugs and antiseptic and hospital filled her nose. Beside her, Lucas sat with his eyes closed. Almost immediately she jumped up on the bed. “Let me go,” she shouted, startling Lucas. He climbed the bed and pulled her into his arms. “It's okay, you're safe now,” he whispered softly, planting kiss after kiss on her hair and forehead. Valerie relaxed into his embrace, her racing heart finally calm. A tear slipped from his eyes and he wiped it. He'd thought he'd lost her. “I'm sorry I couldn't keep you safe. I should have anticipated it, I should—” “It's not your fault,” she cut him off gently. “It's not.” Tears trailed down her own cheeks and she sniffed. “What happened to Matthew?” A muscle ticked in Lucas's jaw, he felt Matt had an easy fate after everything he did. "Dead." Valerie let out a breath she didn't know she was holding, her body shaking with relieve

**Third person**“Let's move, slowly,” Matt murmured in Valerie's ears, his hot breath fanning against her skin. His eyes were still locked onto Lucas—who was practically shooting daggers at Matt with his eyes."Matthew, please," Valerie whispered back, her voice trembling. "You don't have to do this. You can still let me go."Matt's jaw tightened, his chest heaving with desperation and anger. "Do you really think I'm stupid?" he hissed. "You want me to let you go? I should just allow you to run into his arms?" He questioned in a mocking tone.“Drop your weapon and surrender,” the police announced again but neither Valerie nor Matt paid any attention. “Best believe that if I do that, then I'll shoot you from behind before you get to him,” Matt added. The chilling sensation in his voice sent a shiver down Valerie's spine.“Man to man,” Lucas began, his voice almost a growl. “What would it take for you to let her go? Anything at all… name it. Even if you don't want to spend a single da

**Third person**It took Matthew half the time it would normally take to get to the bunker. He parked his car at a safe distance before running over to the location. And with each step he took, his mind raced, his heart pounded with anxiety. He couldn't afford to lose her now that he was so close. They'd literally be leaving the country today. Valerie please be there, please be there, Matt murmured, his legs moving faster.A half-relieved sigh left his lips when he reached the entrance and saw that the door was still locked—She was still here. His trembling fingers sifted through his bunch of keys, his breath gaspy and he wiped the sweat on his forehead with the back of his palm.Matt unlocked the door and then pushed it open forcefully. His eyes blazing with anger and anxiety found Valerie immediately. She was curled up at a corner, her cheeks stained with tears and her hands and feet shaking."What have you done??!" he growled, his voice venomous. She frowned in confusion, even th

**Third person**Matt seemed to ponder for a moment before he exhaled deeply. Then he moved over to the table and picked up a small knife. He began cutting the ropes. His jaw clenched at the red mark the ropes left on her skin, a pang of guilt coursing through him. He'd done this to her, he thought. “Do you need me to get you anything from the store?”Finally untied, Valerie examined her free hands and legs, a sense of relief and determination washing over her. “No, thanks.”“I'll be back soon.” He gave her a warning look. “Don't try anything stupid.”She nodded vigorously. “I wouldn't dare.”Satisfied, Matthew turned around and headed out. Valerie had her timid and innocent mask on, until the moment Matthew was out of view. She squeezed her eyes shut and then began counting from one to fifty in her head, giving Matthew enough time to leave the premises. Even with her eyes closed, she could hear the locks click behind him. When she was done, she sprang to her feet, her eyes desperat

**Third person**Eighteen hours had passed since Valerie's disappearance.Lucas stood in the center of his living room, surrounded by computers and anxious faces. His team of experts, handpicked from the best in the business, worked tirelessly to track down any lead on his woman. But so far, neither his team nor the police have been able to come up with anything tangible. There was also no signal from the tracker in Valerie's necklace. Either her kidnapper knew that the necklace was bugged and got rid of it, or they were under water, in a bunker, or somewhere that'll block the signal. One thing for sure; he'd find Valerie and he'd find her soon. Even if it meant turning the planet upside down. She'd be found.News about her and disappearance was all over the media and there was a huge cash prize for whoever brought relevant information on her whereabouts. Lucas ran a palm across his exhausted face. Deep lines creased his forehead, and his jaw was set in a rigid clench. "Broaden the

**Third person** It was almost as if Valerie disappeared just when Elliot blinked. After dismissing the woman who'd come to talk to him, he looked up but he didn't find his boss. Damnit! He'd clenched his jaw and quickened his pace, his hand instinctively resting on the gun holstered at his hip as he rushed outside. Eyes scanned everywhere around but there was no trace of her. "Miss Thorne?" he called out, his mind racing. “Ashley?” He called louder. “Valerie?” There was no response. Immediately, he dialed her number… once, twice, thrice… until it was unreachable. He'd rushed over to some passersby to ask if they'd seen her… There was nothing. Shit! Just then, his phone started ringing. Elliot pulled the device out and stared at the screen, his throat suddenly feeling dry as he registered the caller ID—Mr. Stone. He took a deep breath and then pressed the answer button. ***************************** Valerie's eyes fluttered open, her gaze was blurry and unfocused. She tri

**Third person**Valerie's blood ran cold as she stared at the picture attached to the message. It was a picture of a small boy, no more than two years old. The fact that he was a spitting image of Lucas Stone had goosebumps erupting all over her skin—same blue eyes, jet-black hair, nose, lips, jawline…Val's heart rate increased. Her son was truly alive?“We’re heading to the hospital; Mr. Stone said we're meeting him there?” Elliot asked, his hands already on the ignition.Valerie nodded absent mindedly and he started the car.She felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through her veins as she stuck her head outside the window. Breeze hit her face but it did nothing to calm her. She knew that she had to lose Elliot, and fast. As the car moved through the city, she spotted a convenience store up ahead and made a split-second decision. "I need to stop and get some water," she said suddenly.Elliot frowned and glanced at the bottle of water sitting in the middle of the car compartment.

**Third person**Valerie's smile broadened into a full-blown grin. "Oh, don't think it's unfair if justice isn't served for your lover's sister."Karen frowned, her eyes narrowing. "My lover? What do you mean?" What did this have to do with Victor, she hasn't even heard from him, Karen wondered.Valerie locked her eyes onto Karen's. "Victor, your bodyguard... the one you've been fucking.” She paused to study Karen's face—she didn't look so confident anymore. “But you killed his sister."Karen's face drained of blood, her eyes wide and her lips parting with shock. Valerie continued, "The young lady who took care of Nathaniel Scott."Dread coursed through Karen, her mind shifting back to the night Nathaniel was killed. He'd been with a woman, and when Adam killed Mr. Scott, the woman witnessed it. Karen had to silence her.A small smile found its way to Valerie's lips as she studied the horrified look on Karen's face. "So now, does it finally ring a bell?"Karen's eyes stung with tears

**Third person**Valerie woke up to a wet sensation on her clit. A shiver coursed through her spine, her nipples hardening. The sensation continued, and she was forced to open her eyes. She wiped her heavy eyes with the back of her palm and then looked down between her legs, where the source of the heat she was feeling came from. Lucas, with his head between her thighs, looked up, his tongue still whipping her sensitive clit. “Morning, babe,” he murmured. Valerie blinked a couple of times to clear her eyes. She arched her back and she cried out in pleasure when he slipped a finger inside her. “W-what are you doing?” She managed to ask between moans. He smiled and looked up at her again, with those dark, desire-filled eyes. Her cheeks flushed as she noticed her pussy juice rubbed all over his mouth and its surroundings. “I've always dreamed of waking you up like this,” she murmured, his voice rough.Lucas slipped another finger in her and began pumping, his tongue returning to her c
